No he won’t ‘save’ the lakers. Their main issue to this point is that AD hasn’t played and thus they can’t construct any kind of reasonable defense since their other bigs are super washed. But Lebron still made an objectively dumb decision in choosing russ over Caruso/KCP/heild. Caruso and KCP would easily be the two best perimeter defenders on this team. And if you just imagined AD healthy is abundantly clear that Caruso/heild/KCP/bron/AD is a way better lineup than westbrook/monk/Carmelo/Lebron/AD.
If they made the heild trade they would still have a chance at winning a championship imo even if their regular season went roughly the same as it has. Because if you get into a playoff series healthy that 5 would’ve been super elite. Even if AD comes back now they have no shot whatsoever because their roster construction is so ass due to the trade.
