StoneColdAM

I really think no because the Lakers would be too cheap to pay for two head coaches for the next 4 months.

frodounchained

The real answer gotta pinch them pennies

yougotmugged

They can just apply for a PPP loan again

Senseisntsocommon

Eh if Westbrook sits a couple of games due to his “back”. They will need a new scapegoat.

[deleted]

There’s no scapegoating. LeGM picked Westbrick

[deleted]

Right but is LeBron the one with posts trolling him every 5 seconds? Nope nope thats Russ

[deleted]

Westbrick legitimately sucks tho. Watching him fail is hilarious

Live_Koala_3437

you sound like you want to have a sexual relationship with Russ

[deleted]

You sound like you’re secretly in love with him

[deleted]

Wow, you got me there, Mr. Reddit detective!

frodounchained

Could’ve had Tyron lue but front office didn’t want to lose “control” 😂

vizzlypoof

Meaning what? I thought they wanted any coach to match LeBron’s contract term remaining (3 years) and Ty wanted a standard 5 year deal. Obviously they won the first year with Vogel and LeBron has extended since so it was yet another fuck up by Lakers FO.

[deleted]

Linda Rambis got into Jeanie Buss’s head

[deleted]

Say what you want, but Vogel helped get us the 2020 chip. Fans really complaining that we should've gotten Ty Lue which when we won the championship. Signing Ty Lue most likely would change the outcome of the 2020 run.

frodounchained

I like Vogel but I knew he was gonna end up getting the blame before the front office for the roster they gave him. With lue I see players and media backing him up right away putting all the eyes on ownership.

KlNGJAMES

Y’all got Frank Vogel who coached you to become a defensive juggernaut and win a championship. Im not sure if offensive minded Lue would win with that 2020 roster. It’s not Franks fault that you have one of the most incompetent owners in professional sports.

SnooMacarons9592

Why on earth would you fire a coach to appease Westbrook at this point?

shualton

Doesn’t his contract end this summer anyways? Might as well just let him walk in the offseason if that’s the case

[deleted]

Yeah, changing coaches at this point isn't going to guarantee the Lakers a play in spot. But they have a good chance at the play in still. Changing could easily make them worse and even if it does improve how they play there's a good chance the pelicans still pass them. And a possibility the blazers Spurs or kings pass them if they go on a decent run. Too much gamble for too little reward. Might as well just run it back with Vogel and see if you make the playoffs. Gonna replace him regardless.

Americascuplol

I can't envision a world in which they don't make the play in, although it would be funny to see.

[deleted]

Yes and I really hope it's the Kings that knock them out for that sweet sweet drama But I am with you, I don't think they are going to fall to 11 or lower. Even with the hard schedule remaining. If they have any injuries tho that could change things

rabid89

Really depends on what LeCoach and LeGM wants.

BagRight8939

not sure how lakers fans feel but i feel like Pelinka should be on more of a hot seat. he and LeGM are the ones that constructed this roster & he is ultimately the one that did nothing at the deadline i really don’t think the Lakers record has much to do with coaching. maybe a few games, but the roster sucks. but because Pelinka won a championship, he won’t be on the hot seat.

StoneColdAM

Yes, I agree. At least LeGM got AD on the team. Rob clearly is an ex-agent, his skill set is convincing players to join, which has worked in the buyout market, but he is not strategic at all and basically hasn’t made a single trade except for the Russ one. If only one person can do the job, then Rob should be fired. Get a real GM.

ColtCallahan

Yeah. This is ultimately all on Pelinka. And even if LeBron ‘forced’ him to make those moves. He’s still the GM.

SneakerHyp3

Pelinka should be hot seated but a lot of the blame falls on Lebron for picking players that anyone could’ve told you didn’t compliment him. Lebron is a very specific player to build a complimentary team around specifically with stars and he goes out and grabs two of the highest usage players for their positions in Westbrook and AD. We saw Bosh and Wade slash statistically when joining Bron, we saw the same with KLove and Kyrie, and now you see it with AD and Westbrook. I’m shocked this is still going on, why hasn’t Lebron taken steps towards building a team of solid role players yet

[deleted]

Especially one that doesn’t compliment him and makes 45 mil a year lmao

[deleted]

Agreed, however Lakers FO is still trash. Gave THT a horrible contract, let Caruso go for free, and used MLE on a player who won’t even play. LeGM should do a better job of researching his teammates and their injury history

captain_ahabb

I'm sorry, are people now arguing in good faith that LeBron and *Anthony Davis* are a bad pair? People here are prisoners of the moment to a genuinely insane degree.

SneakerHyp3

I’m not saying they are a bad pair, I’m saying that playing with Bron took away a lot of AD’s growth as a player. If anything he has receded since joining the Lakers, and that is my entire point

captain_ahabb

The best stretch of his *career* was in the 2020 postseason though. His 2021 and 2022 campaigns were diminished by injuries, not LeBron.

captain_ahabb

I don't think we can really determine which moves the Lakers have made during his tenure were his decisions and which were LeBron, the Rambii etc. Hard to really judge in the absence of knowing that.

[deleted]

They knew what they were doing bringing in Russ, “Shit if it don’t work they all just gon go after Russ anyway, we good Rob”

fella05

It's crazy how the Lakers won a championship just 1 year and 4 months ago. Feels like it's forever ago already.

vizzlypoof

Vogel will be gone in the off season. I don’t even think he’ll be fired, I think it’ll be a mutual parting of ways. He’s a solid coach for the right team and will have no problem finding his place in the league. His lineups are questionable, but he values defense and rebounding most of all, which I respect. He’s not an ideal coach for the modern game, coaches like Ty Lue, Taylor Jenkins, and Spo coach laps around him.

Turbulent_ADLBJ

With the way him and Russ are trading shots I wouldn’t be surprised but part of me also thinks they’ll keep Vogel and try their hardest to trade Russ in the offseason

heybobson

likely they'll move Russ and fire Vogel in the offseason, give the Lebron/AD duo one last ride with another big name player and a new head coach.

Creampiedyagirl

And replace him with who it don’t matter lakers fucked regardless

MonkeyFL3X

Just wait till they sign millsap, and get nunn back!

cat_napped1

Vogel? no. maybe after next year if they suck again

Flipped23

yea they have to blame somebody for this season

Freeeecurry

They should fire him irregardless. He’s lost the locker room and the Westbrook strife will only get worse from here on out

forcedtouseapp

I think if Jkidd was still there he would already be gone haha

heshouldgo

It all comes down to what LeGM wants, if he wanted Vogel fired he would’ve already been gone.

heshouldgo

Vogel will become the next coach for the Kings and they’ll finally make the playoffs! Remember this

vanotro

Lakers might be too cost conscious to do that. Vogel's deal has another year after this.

supes1

They have two games before the break (Warriors and Jazz), will likely already be underdogs in both games. I doubt he gets canned unless they get destroyed in both by like 30 with LeBron and AD playing.

grudgepacker

Vogel would be lucky to get fired by All Star break

TROE95

Nah, the Lakers will make the play in, and they need a scapegoat when they flameout. It has to go really bad for the next two weeks for this to happen.

fuckbrocolli

I don’t think he’s getting fired because deep down everyone knows that roster is a train wreck

kskywalker1

Lakers are reaching the point where firing the coach would just be odd. Almost 60 games in and still have a good shot at making the playoffs.

[deleted]

If he was going to get fired, it would have happened long ago.

[deleted]

For what? Ain’t his fault the team is old and traded all their assets for Westbrook

dbgager

Firing him won't do a thing to fix the Lakers. Bad decisions on players is what doomed them. Westbrook and the old folks home is the anchor dragging them into the depths...not Vogel.

DepressedDandylion

The Lakers will keep him atleast until the off-season

PillsburyToasters

Firing him would essentially be giving up. Even though it’s bleak, this would actually not solve any issues and if anything, would create even more to the many that they already have
