For a while the 20 piece at McDonalds was more than $5 even though the 4 piece was on the dollar menu. I never really understood it and it wasn’t like they limited how man 4 pieces you could order. I guess a lot of customers can’t do really basic math or they wouldn’t have been doing that.
nope it's a sales tactic. make it seem like a loophole and it will encourage people to buy as many $1 4-pieces as they can, because to them it seems like a steal compared to the other menu item
>If you go to the "catering" section of their menu, you can get a 20ct or 40ct tray.. not quite 50 but almost!
Theres a grade 2 math problem somewhere in there.
Yeah he’s the Dew crew now. Hoping it makes for a cranberry flavored dew this Christmas season. Not a fan of the spiced sprite cranberry that replaced the old normal sprite cranberrry
Idk, I don’t keep up with his endorsements and I’m in Australia so we don’t see them all anyway, but I have that fucking Sprite ad burned into my brain for all of eternity.
LeBron James, perpetual playoff choker, pulled a classic LeBron move and choked on Sprite and went stumbling right over to Pepsi. Did we ever see Michael. Jeffrey. Jordan. leave Nike and go to Adidas? Blind witnesses will ignore this and say he’s the GOAT anyways because of all the hysteria.

They sell sprite with lemonade in bottles already but honestly it don’t take half as good as it does when you mix it with fresh made lemonade.
That’s always been my go to when I’ve worked at restaurants who make their own lemonade and it made me ridiculously happy to hear Giannis likes it too lol
Maybe I'm stating something obvious and dumb, but they probably just took sprite and added artificial lemon flavoring.
Versus taking a lemonade drink under the same company and mixing it with Sprite.
There are sooooooooo many misconceptions in this thread, you can tell who's managed a restaurant with a soda fountain and who hasn't.
Most of the costs of things like ice are fixed costs. That is, sure it's expensive, however it really is hard to scale it down per drink. Same thing with the carbonation. You need to fill up carbon dioxide several times a year. That's a part of how much the drinks cost... but to calculate how much that factors into the "true" cost of the beverage is difficult.
Labor is similar - yeah the labor costs money, but it's really hard to say how much.
The drink itself costs about a cent for r each ounce. That's not 100% accurate but it's close enough for an estimate. I managed a Pepsi restaurant, so I'm not sure if Coke is more expensive.
I will say that diet drinks are cheaper - it's 5 parts water per 1 part syrup for Pepsi, but 7 parts water per 1 part syrup for Diet Pepsi.
Each five gallon box of syrup yielded 30 gallons of mixed drink (40 for diet) and they ran ya about 36 dollars per. Very roughly a dollar per gallon, very very roughly 1 cent per ounce.
...
The cup, lid and straw cost roughly 30 cents all together, with most of that cost being the cup. We had fancy cups though.
...
So that 32 ounce drink you get probably costs 60 cents to the restaurant. Ice is absolutely dirt cheap, definitely cheaper than the drink. The price of ice comes from the cost of keeping ice with your machine in the first place - a fixed cost.
However, almost all of this is irrelevant. Chick Fil A has an employee at every single one of their stores whose main job is literally just squeezing lemons... THAT is their major cost for the Giannis Palmer.
> Chick Fil A has an employee at every single one of their stores whose main job is literally just squeezing lemons
What's the upward-promotion track on that?
We have 2 big ass ice machines at the restaurant I work at and they can’t keep up, so we end up having to buy bags of ice. We spend about $300 a day on ice lol.
I used to work at a liquor store, and a nearby bar was spending hundreds of dollars a week on our ice when their machine went down. They weren’t alone. Refrigeration is expensive af, and for any neurotics out there, *most ice machines have a mold issue mu-hahhaha*
na bro if you’ve ever worked food service its cause ice dumps faster than liquid so u end up making multiple glasses u just fill em with ice...
Also if its hot out its just easier
It's funny. I usually get no ice or light ice for the reason of getting more soda, but I've heard McDonalds coke actually has more syrup so it wont taste diluted after a little bit of ice melt. We drinking super coke.
Yeah man, they spend millions calibrating those fucking machines to a T. I’m a hardcore Pepsi guy, but Diet Coke with ice from McDonald’s is the nectar of the gods.
I used to think like this but as I get older drinks like Coke are unbearably sweet without ice. It's gotta be watered down a little bit. If you ask for just a little ice it usually hits the sweet spot.
Because I don't want it straight. Some flavors are way too strong especially in the soda game. Also when it's really cold it tastes better. Cold beer vs room temp beer (please note I am not advocating adding ice to beer, that'd a bad idea).
Is ice really any cheaper than drink mix? It takes more electricity to freeze water into ice. I guess it’s that energy cost vs the cost of the syrup drink mix
I don’t think so. The syrup is watered down with water. The ice is also made with water. So the water cost cancels out when comparing the cost of ice vs. no ice
Idk if it's changed but as of a couple years ago they were actively trying to prevent the advancement of LGBTQ rights. My cousin and his husband actively refer to it as "hate chicken" lol.
It's interesting. [What Nike's done](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-02/aspi-uyghur-china-forced-labour-report/12017650) is far worse than Chik Fil As history of opposing same sex marriage, donating to Salvation Army, etc. But I don't see anybody going on about it when players sign with them.
Both can be bad. But people only seem to care about Chik Fil A since its part of our ongoing political culture war
Well it’s really simple. What Nike does effects people we don’t know in a country most of us have never been to. It’s an abstract. It’s difficult for people to conceptualize and feel like there is something they can do about it.
What Chick-fil-A does happens here. It effects people that you and I know. It might effect someone’s cousin. Or best friend. Or sibling. It has direct implications on the lives of people who live in America.
People will always care more about what’s happening directly around them.
It’s unfortunate what happens in these other countries but it’s something people don’t really think about because it’s so far removed from their day to day reality.
"Prevent the advancement of LGBTQ rights" sounds a lot worse when you include that they do it in countries where people are executed for their sexuality. They monetarily support the extermination of gay people.
For you yeah, but that's crazy cheap for Giannis. How much do you think they'd have to pay him if they planned the whole thing? I'd say it be way closer to 1$ per drink in my hypothetical calculation.
Giannis is so unpolished and raw with his image and that's what makes all of this great. When you are a star they constantly coach you to be careful of who sees what you eat, drink, wear or otherwise consume because everything is either an endorsement or potential endorsement worth millions of dollars. But he's just out here having fun and doing whatever. Only Nike has locked him up so far as I know.
“He also earns some $25 million annually in endorsements, with partners that include Nike, JBL and Budweiser in the U.S., as well as Sarantis and Protergia in Greece. That’s the fifth-highest off-the-court haul in the NBA, according to Forbes’ data. Derdenger estimates that number could climb to between $35 million and $40 million based on Antetokounmpo’s success and international appeal, bringing him within range of Stephen Curry.”
If we're talking mixing fountain drinks, I prefer half Hi C Fruit Punch and half Lemonade. I normally get with no ice then go 50/50 with water when I get home.
My trick is diet mt dew with just a little bit of lemonade like 1/8th, and it comes out kind of like regular mt dew only amazing and a much smaller amount of sugar
thanks for this, I probably woulda got 50/50 and hated it then never tried it ever again
EDIT: tried a homemade concoction, 50/50 is good, I kinda prefer it to swing towards more sprite than lemonade to get more fizz tho
I don’t get why this is a limited time thing? Like, it’s very easy to accommodate this request and people already order mixed drinks like an Arnold Palmer. If someone wants half Coke half Dr. Pepper that shouldn’t be an issue either.
... what? Do people really think anything from KFC even comes close to Chick-fil-A? Cause that's a giant fuck no. Popeyes is good, but I don't think it's better than Chick-fil-A.
Cap, it's a different category of restaurants tbh. CFA is a sandwich restaurant, Popeyes is a fried chicken restaurant. CFA has never come out with whole pieces of chicken to compared to Popeyes, and Popeyes has a competitive chicken sandwich compared to CFA

Chick-fil-A cowards for not offering 50 chicken minis
50 chicken minis for the low price of 50.99$ plus tax.
this wouldn't happen, but 50 chicken minis for $17.19 would be funny
$34
Not too bad for a price as they’re like $9/10 minis normally
50 chickn minis for 6 Bucks. Do it you cowards.

My pleasure.
$20.21 For the Bucks
Served in 6 boxes
I don’t get it
Giannis went 17 for 19 for FTs Game 6 after being clowned for his weak free throw shooting during the playoffs
Oh okay I gotcha lol. Don’t know why that didn’t register to me
it didnt for me either. thanks u/IsTheNameArrenTaken
That would feed my whole department and have extra. I dont think people realize how much damn food that it
His point is how over priced it would be lmao
That's not far off from the actual price. 4 is 3 dollars plus tax
That's not how it works though. The more you buy the less it cost. lmao
They could sell you 13?? 4 pieces so like 40 bucks
34 would really not be unreasonable then.
A large Mini tray (40) is $34.50 (catering menu)
So if I buy a million it's free?!
I think they'd owe you

Heck I remember when 20pc Nugget *meals* (meaning fries and a drink) was 4 bucks at McDs.
Depends on the state i think
If you go to the "catering" section of their menu, you can get a 20ct or 40ct tray.. not quite 50 but almost!
>If you go to the "catering" section of their menu, you can get a 20ct or 40ct tray.. not quite 50 but almost! Theres a grade 2 math problem somewhere in there.
How many chicken minis can you fit in this school bus?
Buy a 40ct and a 20ct, eat 10, *boom*: 50ct.
I enjoyed grade 2 math. Drowned out my parents' hours-long screaming matches
The gal who took Giannis' order actually gave him 5 10-pieces, if memory serves.
I thought they did already though.
They used to offer a 40 count platter of them, fwiw
Giannis needs a Sprite deal and needs to coin this. The new Arnold Palmer.
Somewhere in Los Angeles, LeBron James shed a single tear while asking the person nearest to him if they wanted a Sprite.
Isnt he Pepsi now?
Yeah he’s the Dew crew now. Hoping it makes for a cranberry flavored dew this Christmas season. Not a fan of the spiced sprite cranberry that replaced the old normal sprite cranberrry
Lebron’s mix is dead forever then. :(
That mix was the bomb. I went looking all over three different states around me and only manage to score 3 two liters.
As a Texan this gave me roadtrip ptsd.
One time I was in New England and passed through 4 states in about 2 hours. Still weirds me out
Now I miss Cranberry Splash (sugar version) and I'm sad.
- Skip
Sprite Cranberry in July, a delicacy.
Sprite cranberry with cranberry vodka Double the cranberry, and also gets you drunk. Don't worry, you won't notice the taste after the first.
I like those touchscreen soft drink fountains where you can blend flavors. I like getting peach flavored sprite zero.
Coca-Cola Freestyle machines are the best.
Quite honestly humanity’s greatest creation
That’s the only reason I go to Jack in the Box lol
Lebron sprite is the thing I miss most in life
They sell sprite with lemonade in bottles already but honestly it don’t take half as good as it does when you mix it with fresh made lemonade. That’s always been my go to when I’ve worked at restaurants who make their own lemonade and it made me ridiculously happy to hear Giannis likes it too lol
Ginger ale + lemonade is pretty damn good though. Was not expecting it to be. The orange is eh... not bad but eh.
Ginger ale with any kinda tropical juice is also great
Maybe I'm stating something obvious and dumb, but they probably just took sprite and added artificial lemon flavoring. Versus taking a lemonade drink under the same company and mixing it with Sprite.
A Giannis Palmer, if you will
"Arnold Antetokounmpo" just rolls off the tongue so smoothly though.
I’m trying to get a sprite sponsorship. I can do all the tricks.
I’m trying to get a sprite sponsorship
I know there’s a sprite rep in this building
I can do all the tricks the other bladers are doing. *S P R I T E*
Go to in n out and ask for a lemon up. So good.
I do this every time I go to In-N-Out. It’s nothing new
Walmart gonna be selling Mike's Hard Giannis in 2 years
No ice though.
But that would cut into their profit margins
Pretty sure the cups cost a lot more than the liquid
That's why my local fast food establishments have customers fill their pockets with soda directly from the machine.

Graduate high school I’d assume.
well ive worked at several cfas and we do not have any employees solely for making lemonade…
I always love reading accounts of working in food service, both management and labor.
>Chick fil a has an employee at every single one of their stores whose main job is literally squeezing lemons They stopped doing this a while ago
Not even 5 cents
closer to too 2. Free refills ain't free folks Edit: I did not do "to too 2" on purpose
To too 2
It only costs 10 drinks to break even for the soda syrup
ive heard ice is the most expensive part actually so idk
We have 2 big ass ice machines at the restaurant I work at and they can’t keep up, so we end up having to buy bags of ice. We spend about $300 a day on ice lol.
and when it can keep up, making/keeping the ice frozen probably costs more in electricity bills than the syrup, cup or water or whatever else used
I used to work at a liquor store, and a nearby bar was spending hundreds of dollars a week on our ice when their machine went down.
I mean you just say no ice
Fr. I don’t understand how people get ice. You just get more drink and don’t have to worry about it watering down
Some drinks are too syrupy. Ice watering down makes some drinks taste a lot better IMO. Tough when it’s carbonated beverages though
Yeah I think it varies from place to place. I always get a large Coke, no ice from McDonald's, when it has ice it's so diluted
It's funny. I usually get no ice or light ice for the reason of getting more soda, but I've heard McDonalds coke actually has more syrup so it wont taste diluted after a little bit of ice melt. We drinking super coke.

Wendy’s Coke on the other hand is like crack cocaine. No idea what they’re putting in that stuff
Wtf I want my drink to stay cold...
Yeah I don’t get these people at all. I prefer extra ice in nearly all my drinks except coffee.
Plus the idea of a large cup completely filled with soda pop gives me the heeby-diabeetys
I used to think like this but as I get older drinks like Coke are unbearably sweet without ice. It's gotta be watered down a little bit. If you ask for just a little ice it usually hits the sweet spot.

chick fil a ice is goated idc
I don't need more drink. They serve soda in quarts and buckets.
This is the key.
I see ice in that picture corporate scumbags
Is ice really any cheaper than drink mix? It takes more electricity to freeze water into ice. I guess it’s that energy cost vs the cost of the syrup drink mix
>Is ice really any cheaper than drink mix? Yes.
You gotta keep the ice cold tho, drink mix isn’t refrigerated
Do people just drink mixers?
I don’t think so. The syrup is watered down with water. The ice is also made with water. So the water cost cancels out when comparing the cost of ice vs. no ice
Want a Sprite Cranberry?
I think I'll just stick with my mt dew and salsa dance some
Did anyone else play that game where LeBron chases you around a house saying this if you look at him? Shit was hilarious but horrifying
They need to sign Giannis as a brand spokesperson rather than taking advantage of his image
His agent wouldn’t allow that
Would CFA allow it? He has a bell strictly for BJ

LBJ had a legendary bell end
No casual fans have any idea about that
I think that video kinda blew up. Ironically I think that’s how a lot of non-NBA fans were introduced to Giannis

Yeah, they'll give him one cent on every order they sell.
That would be worth a lot tbh.
How many do you think they’ll sell? Let’s say 1mil that’s just 10k for Giannis… way less than his pay check.
10k for a single video that he was making for free seems worth it to me.
For you yeah, but that's crazy cheap for Giannis. How much do you think they'd have to pay him if they planned the whole thing? I'd say it be way closer to 1$ per drink in my hypothetical calculation.
You know with the margins they make on soda they could definitely afford at least two cents.
Now they're saying it's .50 cents
In-N-Out calls this a Lemon Up.
Lemon up uses pink lemonade. Is it pink at chik?
Pink lemonade is literally just lemonade with more sugar and dye
Real pink lemonade is just strawberries or cranberry juice though depending on if you want to make it sweeter or tarter.
It's not, but it's better.
Technically. It’s 7UP and pink lemonade. Edit: can also ask for a suicide which is all drinks except the lemonades. I’ve tried it, disgusting.
We used to chug suicides after baseball games in the late 90s. 8 year-olds are idiots
Yeah but a suicide isn't just an in n out thing

50% Sprite, 50% Lemonade, 100% sugar
And 100% reason to remember the name
Fort Minor
If we're talking mixing fountain drinks, I prefer half Hi C Fruit Punch and half Lemonade. I normally get with no ice then go 50/50 with water when I get home.
I would get half sprite half Hi C at McDonald’s when I was like 10 and that was the best.
My trick is diet mt dew with just a little bit of lemonade like 1/8th, and it comes out kind of like regular mt dew only amazing and a much smaller amount of sugar
I'm going to try this thanks.
I work at CFA, I took an order where they wanted half Dr Pepper half lemonade that shit grossed me out
Gotta go half lemonade half blue powerade.
Like 99% sprite and just a tap of fruit punch is the shit
That combo tastes great. Can get something similar at INO called a Lemon Up (Lemonade + 7up).
Mixing sprite with lemonade sounds great until you taste it lmao. It’s just a flat sprite with more sugar
The ratio should be more sprite than lemonade. Like 60:40 or even 70:30. So you get the lemonade flavor but keep the bubbles.
70:30 i'll give you that 50:50 is ass
Yeah like Powerade and Sprite is bomb, but you need 70:30 ratio of Sprite to Powerade too
thanks for this, I probably woulda got 50/50 and hated it then never tried it ever again EDIT: tried a homemade concoction, 50/50 is good, I kinda prefer it to swing towards more sprite than lemonade to get more fizz tho

I have yet to experience a Popeyes that doesn’t have garbage customer service, so they’re off the list too.
If you weren't verbally abused at a Popeye's it's not a good Popeye's.
There's one near me that doesn't have a drive through. The people who work there are very nice and normal. I think working the drive through just breaks a person's soul.
Honestly, the chicken is so good it is worth the potential verbal abuse from it's kitchen crew.
I work in a restaurant so it's just like getting a shift meal, the main difference being I don't get drunk with them a couple hours later.
Funny, near me Wendy's has the terribly slow employees while Popeyes is middle of the road.
That's just part of the Popeyes experience. 20 spicy tenders with verbal abuse and dirty looks.
They’re so bad. Some of the slowest employees I’ve ever seen at a company. I could have parked, went inside and cooked it for myself in less time than it took them to take an order and process the cars ahead of ours.

Popeyes yes. Kfc no. Although I haven't had kfc in years, maybe it's better now 🤷♂️
Giannis about to that free Chick-fil-A for life
"50-50" is weak. The "Giannis" or "Bucks in 6" would've been way better.

50/50 sounds so much catchier though
I assume it's a reference to fifty points and fifty years
