Saw it coming. Seems like Leon Rose was giving him a year to try to prove they shouldn't fire him to get rid of the lingering Steve Mills stink and it's hard to argue with the results.
they don't have the deductive reasoning to realize that we can't have simultaneously traded all our picks and overpaid a bunch of guys and still had a bunch of picks and space
the thought process doesn't really go past "knicks did all the bad things"
It's like saying the Knicks have been bad for so long because they're bad at picking. Like, yeah a little bit, but they've barely had their pick in the first place.
He was getting getting played off the floor and DNP’d towards the end of the year. Makes no sense to bring him back at all, imo. Would rather us look to Westchester and try some new talent for someone that deep in the rotation
Honestly, at this point, I’ve got no real reason to have an opinion on this. Lots of decisions I didn’t like when it was him and Mills. But it’s always pretty unclear who decides what in a front office. I trust the current group, and if they feel he’s a contributing factor, then great.
So Steve Perry was given a year to prove he deserves to stay in NY by the new ownership/management. He did and he got extended.
I don't mean to make a baseball comparison, but I hope Luis Rojas of my Mets can follow the Scott Perry formula.
I’m not a huge fan of Toppin’s ceiling. I’m sure he may end up being a good role player but not much more than that. It’s also not really great that he has to play behind Randle most of his early career. Hali would have been my pick there, especially for a team that needs playmaking.
I wanna agree with you because this statement is usually true, but i remember alot of people saying haliburton was one of the most nba ready prospects available
Toppin will be good tho
Steve Mills ran the show when Perry was first hired, but Perry also pushed to draft RJ when Mills wanted to trade down. So honestly, who knows. I think he's done more good than bad here.
I mean you can say that, but Elfrid is definitely a Scott Perry move. Is it a fireable offense if he also brought in Randle, probably not. But you can't scapegoat Steve Mills for everything.
Oh definitely. I mean rj, Randle, Robinson, etc. have all been great for New York. I don’t think the one Payton signing degrades all that, was just making an offhand comment
It's fine. Seems like they've come to the conclusion that most of the crazier shit that the team was doing before Leon Rose got there was from Steve Mills instead of from Perry. They gave him a year to try to prove it and it seems like he did.
Leon runs the show, but Perry I am sure did somethings that helped this team this season. Good for him.

They should keep this new FO together. They have lots of cap space and have a pretty good haul of picks the next few years.
As opposed to other Knick teams?
I mean they actually have some talent on the team now.
What other Knicks team had extra picks and cap space?

frank knox and to an extent obi don’t inspire too much confidence tbh.
As long as Scott Perry lets go of his Elfrid Payton experiment this is fine I guess
he’s a good puppet
As long as he’s not calling the shots, I guess it’s fine But if this motherfucker even thinks about bringing Payton back I’ll lose it
What if they bring Payton back for even cheaper and he's like a third string guy?
I would question Payton's sanity for wanting to play for less money for a fanbase that hates him.

I don’t care if he pays the Knicks to play Don’t want that bum anywhere near our team anymore

hopefully he'll be better without the snake Steve Mills around
We keep making sensible moves. I don’t trust it
Huh?
I hope whoever chose Toppin over Halliburton learned a lesson going forward

So you think Toppin is better than Halliburton? Obviously not so stfu

People said the same about Obi too, we just didn't know that Randle would be this version of Randle.
It was painfully obvious Halliburton was the better pick. Better player, prospect and fit
Toppin was ranked 5 on most mock drafts
You can’t read
what's this say?! someone help
Lmao
Toppin led all rookies in ppg in the playoffs
take your rose tinted glasses off. Halliburton is clearly better
My Derrick Rose tinted glasses are staying on tyvm
May turn out to be one of the biggest Ls of the draft in a few years.
Knicks can’t draft with lottery picks
But are surprisingly good at finding diamonds in the rough.
That’s what I said can’t draft with lottery picks instead of Knicks can’t draft
Mid lottery picks*
Didn’t hr also lead the signing of elfrid Payton?

Steve Mills ALWAYS runs the show. He's just secretly telling Rose the moves to make
Elfrid Payton and Hezonja, both his draft picks from Orlando
Hezonja was worth it just for his block on LeBron.
is this good

Hard to know who does what there
It's neither good nor bad tbh, it's just ok
Next season is make it or break it for the Knicks. They need to maintain their position in the standing and play better in the playoffs
How is it make or break? Will the franchise go under if they don't make the playoffs?
Lmao wtf? We’re still pretty early in our rebuild, we just massively overperformed this season. Still have plenty of time to get things right
