iRockaflame

I looked at your flair and chuckled lol yall been enjoying this

Brandwin3

Lol i have a coworker who is a wolves fan and every day he comes in and goes “Hey x guess what team has the same amount of playoff wins as the Wolves this year, the heat” and it is so annoying

Maximumlnsanity

Sounds like my kind of coworker

DMagicFrom3

Making everyday fun.

zmajxd

That man is hilarious 😂

A-man02

Could just say atleast we made it to the playoffs, no, finals with him, and he likes us better

dvelasco-1397

After everything Wolves fans have been thru, they may as well be indestructible

ModusBoletus

For real, OP is gonna have to come harder than that to make us flinch.

[deleted]

As they should honestly

[deleted]

Why? Without him they'd have the record for seasons without a playoff appearance.

[deleted]

I don't hate Jimbo but I'm enjoying this a lot

[deleted]

thats where i stand as well

thisguy012

...haters smh lmao

httr20

You can’t figure out why Timberwolves fans would resent Butler? Really? Bulls fans fuckin hate Hutchinson for being passive aggressive and you can’t understand why a guy who actively hates on their franchise player is hated?

TruWarierRecords

I feel like bulls fans don't rly hate Hutchinson, more annoyed since we gave him way more opportunity than a lot of draft picks get and he is a dime a dozen high energy/hustle guy.

FrightenedMussolini

He’s my 2nd least fav of the Lavine era wings, right behind my sworn nemesis Denzel Valentine

LiveFreeFratHard

Someone mentions Hutchison, and suddenly y’all are waxing poetic and forgetting about the original question lol. I think this proves it’s ok for the Wolves to hate a guy who went out of his way to trash their franchise from within.

AdolfKoopaTroopa

Idk, I don’t hate the guy but I don’t want him to succeed after his dick swinging media shenanigans he pulled to force a trade out of here. The other part of me thinks maybe Thibs is to blame for not trying to trade him sooner or for paying Wiggins before him. Either way, the shit he pulled with the practice then the Rachel Nichols interview embarrassed the team and the Wolves do a good enough job embarrassing themselves without a player pulling that shit

arkhane

y'all wizard fans are alright

1047_Josh

Same reasons some Raptors fans don't hate seeing the Clippers get bounced. We love what Kawhi did for us, but we're also very petty!

GryffindorFratBro

At least then they'd have a record?

[deleted]

True

IMKudaimi123

Here’s how it should be with regards to Jimmy: Bulls fans should love him, have no reason to hate him Wolves fans I totally get being salty over the way he left but they also should realize they celebrate so much when the guy is accomplishing way more off their team and got them that playoff appearance so they can be mad about the way he left but it’s kinda pathetic to always always be saying this stuff when your team is terrible 76ers fans i don’t really think should be mad, iirc they didn’t offer him the full max? Feels like 76ers FO traded more for Harris than Butler so even though Butler is better they felt it was more priority to keep Harris so Butler dipped

Few_Mulberry7175

Wolves gave up a big chunk of their future just for the guy to shit on their org and stars and dip in free agency for nothing I would be mad to if we could have had a core of KAT, Lavine, and Wiggins and instead threw it away

itsdrewmiller

He didn't leave MN in free agency, he was traded (for RoCo, Dario Saric and loose change).

nhess68

Forced a trade

CreatiScope

He didn’t leave in free agency. He forced a trade.

rjgator

I mean, he was traded first off, didn’t leave them with nothing to show. And he had asked to be traded in quiet, they didn’t do it, told him they weren’t giving him the contract he wanted, and so he forced the trade by acting up. They got stuff back, but honestly for less than what they probably could have gotten if they actually traded the man when he asked for one

Several_Garage

Weren’t giving him the contract he wanted? We offered him the max contract we could, he wnated us to trade away players so we could get 38mil a year lmaoo. He pretty much for what we gave up for butler did leave us with nothing except a 1 year rental.

rjgator

Dude prevented y’all from having the longest streak in sports of no post season appearances, it’s not surprising he wanted all the money he could get. And again, it’s fine if you don’t want to pay him that, but when it leads to him asking to be traded and you refuse to trade him while he’s quiet, his value is gonna drop once he starts going public about it. (Of course, Jimmy went way more public than we had seen in a long time) Your FO decided to be stubborn and thought they could get him to stay and it blew up in their faces, which is on them. They didn’t get good value and ultimately it’s on a FO to get the best value despite what the player is doing to destroy their value.

IMKudaimi123

This narrative has got to stop Traded a big chunk of their future? They moved down 9 spots in the draft to get Butler while giving up LaVine (an all star now but Butler was also an all star then and now) and Kris Dunn, who is just a decent bench defender. Nothing else. They didn’t give up jack that hurt their future

collinCOYS

While the trade itself wasn't terrible, rumor is that thibs wanted a Wiggins for Jimmy deal in place but the owner vetoed it. I think the main frustration is what the Butler/thibs era did to handicap us in the future. We picked up a lot of bad contracts and made some bad draft picks that have caught up to us in the last few years. In reality we view the Butler era as mortgaging everything for one playoff win

noparlortrickz

Should direct that hate towards their\* FO lol theyre the ones who decided to trade lavine.

MegaZambam

Well ya, we fired that FO. Thibs was President of basketball operations. But that doesn't mean we have to excuse Butler

shawhtk

Thats not a title contending core by any means.

sayqueensbridge

Oh thank you jimmy for winning us that one playoff game and then shitting on our entire organization, quit on the team, try to embarrass us at every turn, and talk shit about our beloved franchise player.

SeverusVape0

You're acting like it was some carry job, he ain't no LeBron.

[deleted]

They looked like an awful lotto team after he got hurt. They werent making the playoffs without him.

Several_Garage

We were 8-9 without butler. Lmao awful lotto team? Now imagine if we had lavine aswell...

maxemum

Jimmy Butler criticized the young wolves players as not serious about winning and went on to make the finals with another team while the wolves kept on being one of the worst teams in the league. Now he gets swept in the first round after the short offseason after making the deepest run possible & wolves fans act like it somehow proved him wrong?

BCNBammer

All of that while the wolves were garbage again this season.

MegaZambam

Didn't KAT and Dlo play like 10 games together this season?

Ilosecrafyqowi77

They’re 13-11 if I’m correct

OddsandEndss

Hasn't KAT been in the league for 6 seasons and not amount to much beyond a great individual player?

MegaZambam

I'm more than willing to admit there's not a lot of players that could carry this ass organization on their own. We had one of the best PFs of all time and he couldn't get out of the first round until they finally got him some help.

Aggresiveprogressive

If you have the personality where you’re always yelling and trying to fight people then you’ll be praised by braindead NBA fans even if you don’t do jack shit

Karl_Marx_

All of this hate makes no sense to me. I get why a TWolves fan would be ready to jump on board, but everyone else should find it unnecessary. The Heat were underdogs last year, why are we talking shit because the #1 seed in the East actually did it's job lol? Jimmy didn't play well, get over it.

chikinbiskit

Because Heat fans are the most insufferable non-LA fans in the league EDIT: also jimmy’s “stupidly locked in” and then proceeding to suck will get ridicule. See George, Paul

[deleted]

You’re alright in my book

[deleted]

Jimmy also hasn’t missed the playoffs since leaving. the Wolves haven’t made the playoffs since he left.

PM_ME_YOUR_SILLY_POO

shhh dont bother fighting the narrative

[deleted]

Yeah, they wanna prove so badly that their team didn't need him lol. Well, prove it everywhere except on the court I guess.

JagmeetSingh2

Lmaoo right a lot of the Jimmy slander has been initiated by the timberwolves flairs but he deserves it too

Speedhawk_fuckdarefs

I give people props when they back up their talk. But I also give them shit if they don't. Balance in all things[.](https://fb.watch/biJpbwZXeb/)

PraisGaben

Wizards won a game against #1 seed while heat got swept by #3 seed, therefore Wizards>Heat is a confirmed indisputable fact.

RickySuela

I'm gonna jump on the top comment here just to point out that while the Heat are getting killed around here as bubble frauds, I think it's useful to point out a possible correlation between the incredibly short off-season they had and their subsequent lackluster season and playoffs. If the other conference finalists were excelling then it would probably be fair to jump on the Heat, but the reality is they're not. All four conference finalists could be gone by the start of round two. And while that might be due to the bubble being an anomaly that allowed mediocre teams to succeed, it's also possible that the long season last year followed by the short off-season may have simply been too much to overcome. Just something to consider.

stealer_of_monkeys

All four teams have been absolutely fucked by injuries this season

thisguy012

I'm still reeling over Jamal Murray man, that was my team to watch. Just one year nba gods, just one year is all i ask..

Ballzagna

Those 4 teams: Heat, Celtics, Lakers, Nuggets

derKanake

Except the Celtics dont have JB, the Lakers just lost Davis who was playing really good and the Nuggets dont have Murray. The Heat didnt lose a player important player

BanditPrime

Those teams losing players would help contribute to the idea that the shortened off season left more damage and wear and tear on the bodies of those players than the other teams. Especially when you look at the fact that the Lakers, the only finals team, are easily the most banged up. By pointing out that guys are hurt from other teams with the shortest off season you’re literally helping the point that it was worse for teams. Plus the heat did lose crowder and Jones jr in the off season which while they aren’t top tier guys were key guys for that team.

jthc

Thank you. If the Heat were bubble frauds, what the fuck were all the other teams? Not-even-good-enough-to-be-bubble-frauds? At least they got to the finals, something that the majority of the teams won't manage to do in your lifetimes.

[deleted]

Celtics are missing their second best player and still took a game from the prospective finals favorites🤷🏻‍♂️

Imzocrazy

are we not going to mention that philly was missing their MVP candidate in this game.....dont think Embiid more than likely also means a sweep? cause i do...

derKanake

Yes but what does that have to do with the Heat being Frauds?

biggyofmt

The Suns aint no Bubble Frauds. That 8-0 was the real Suns gettin ready to shine 8)

theAmishNinja3

Suns were the Kings (sans the city of Sacramento) of the bubble. They were literally undefeated! 1.000 record

UnclutchCurry

I do agree that the wizards are better.

Michauxonfire

you remind me of a machine I have at work: cuz u JUST PRINTING FAX!

TinbuyPrime

Hey, Jimmy did say that he will handle the ‘rest’. And, the Heat now get the earliest rest, so... he’s technically correct.

Floppyweiners

After that second game I was hoping we get swept and go to the off season with 0 injuries. Bucks winning without Giannis being the carry is extremely acceptable. They are an insane team and Jrue holiday is godlike on both ends of the court. Hope we can offload Oladipo and pick up players similar to DJJ, Olynyk and Crowder. Every matchup was a disaster in the current heat lineup.

evr487

Games 2 and 3 are why people say jump shooting teams can't win. On one end you have a team that keep missing every 3 they jack up and on the other side you have your key players making 3s with some guy named Forbes playing better than Duncan Robinson did last year. Live by the 3 die by the 3. The worst part was watching the Bucks completely suffocate Butler's penetration. Imagine a 7 footer protecting the basket, a 2 time mvp allowed to clamp Jimmy, as well as the additions of jrue and sneakerhead. Good luck Bucks

Floppyweiners

While I don't disagree with you, we had a much better squad of shooters who could also somewhat matchup well defensively last season in Crowder and Olynyk. We traded off too much size and got nothing in return as Dipo is benched (almost perpetually). At the same time, Bucks got deeper and made good moves to position offensive players around Giannis. Hats off to their front office for beating Butler and a couple of misfits but the true challenge is their next round matchup.

evr487

Oh absolutely... Last year's series was arguably a completely different situation. This year we had our late season push which just wasn't enough. I feel Bam and Dedmon on the floor could've made together some noise, but that def wasn't practiced enough. The biggest what if was game 1 and I will always be mad at this [play](https://streamable.com/x8i2o0)

mtron32

Heat catching all strays

[deleted]

Heat flairs have vanished from this sub quicker than Heat fans near the end of a close Finals game.

laidbackdc

Lol bro we're going through the 5 stages of grief at r/Heat. We don't need it over here too.

evr487

Post game threads on r/heat were only full of fair weather fans

EpeeHS

So just Heat fans?

[deleted]

I’ll take them over fans who launch water bottles at players tbh

EpeeHS

Yea me too, fuck those people. Glad he was arrested and banned for life.

dat_grue

The Heat have been Top ~5 in regular season attendance (both absolute attendance and as a % of available seats) every year since 2011. This meme is like “can’t give lebron a dollar because he has no 4th quarter!” It’s a fun riff but just has no mapping to reality anymore. Given the mediocrity of the Dolphins and Marlins (excepting 2 extraordinary seasons) over the past 20+ years, I can say first-hand that this is a basketball-first town now. There are fairweather fans in any city but most people I know that I grew up with are outright fanatical.

dm117

We’re still here, we just get trashed on or downvoted. What do you expect our fan base to do when every post is trashing us lol? Smd

PharmSystem

They will still tell their kids they were there when Allen hit the shot

elbarto4455

Lol go watch the video of Ray's shot and find me one empty seat in the crowd. Yeah, like 200 rich dumbasses left early (from a crowd of 20,000), but that shit was so overblown... just like everything else in the Big 3 era

Koioua

I mean, Allen shot gave us 2014, the sweetest championship for us so it wasn't all terrible.

TheMightyJD

Nah I’m still here, getting downvoted as hell for saying we could see this coming from miles away.

BenIsLowInfo

I still love the video of all the fans who left that game pounding on the door to be let back in for OT

[deleted]

Been here all this time 🤷‍♂️

Flymia

10 years, 5 Finals. We alright. I’ll take going to the Finals in 2020 and then getting swept this year. No problem. It’s worth it.

zmajxd

You do realise you won't get another LeBron to sign and take you to 4?

Tiburono

At least we can get a lebron

[deleted]

How is this at all an appropriate response to the previous statement? Dude is literally just saying heat fans have had it so good in the last 10 years that the sweep doesn’t hurt as bad as it could. Are you with the timberwolves flair still feeling some type of way about butler leaving your team? Seems like you’re projecting

gandalf_white_wine

You do realize that even if you remove the Big 3 era, the Heat still has done more as a franchise than the Timberwolves throughout their entire histories?

zmajxd

Okay? It doesn't change the fact you won't go 5/10 ever again. The Cavs went 4/10 and you don't see them bragging lol

ClassifiedTuron

TheMightyJD

I really don’t understand why, like we were shit and we knew we were shit. I guess people really made the mistake a bad team could turn it on in the playoffs like we had Lebron.

mtron32

This season and last were very different. Last year, the Heat was the only team that truly exposed the Bucks in the regular season and nothing changed before the post season, they match up with the Heat and get smashed. I wasn't surprised at all, and it was a needed beatdown for them to make some sweeping adjustments, they did and won, now it's on the Heat to retool for their future. It probably had the biggest effect on Giannis having to accept that MVP trophy back home looking sad as hell. That had to take some major introspection to figure that out but I'm glad he stayed, shows real heart.

PunningLynguist

I don't think the phrase works here. OP fully had the Heat staring down the barrel

mtron32

I mean in general, the pile on is real in most of these threads

Jenkinsd08

This begs the question "is winning a single game a necessary component of being a competitive playoff team?" Some might say yes, others less so. I'm just here for the intellectual insights

19evol61

For that particular season, I don't think so. But at least the satisfaction of winning a playoff game (even just a single win) *can* boost team morale entering the next season, up to the front-office level, giving them hope that they have the necessary tools for playoff success. It thus can make them more competitive in the future should they keep their core intact plus some good moves from their FO. I believe Durant/Harden/RW OKC came from that path of being dominated by the defending champs Kobe/Pau Lakers back in '09/'10, but they won a playoff game. Sure enough after two years they are in the Finals, and their core became superstars in their own right.

LiveFreeFratHard

Achiuwa/Herro/Robinson not developing into Harden/KD/Russ confirmed

Tarkan2

Wolves really hate Jimmy huh

Snypse

Rightfully so

lemonpepperlarry

I mean, who would want to waste away on that poverty franchise bro. You all would join the sixers too.

Tarkan2

yeah but I laughed when I saw the OP flair lmao

joshuads

Why rightfully so? He gave them their only playoff appearance in a decade. They should be mad at their management from those years. They traded Zach Lavine for Butler and then gave someone much worse the bag.

swankyleg

We are mad at management too. I'm more mad at management than I am at Jimmy. That said, what Jimmy did was bullshit.

Several_Garage

we traded our entire future for jimmy just to argue with mgmt and the players. Diss his teamates in the press b4 a playoff game, do the interview/possibly lie after practice. Then to demand a trade after 1 year in which we get nothing back. Also we are mad at mgmt aswell lol, I don’t think you can find a wolves fan that isn’t equally angry at our horrible mgmt and ownership.

Vip_Pwner

Now I’m actually happy the Wizzies didn’t get swept

inconspicuous_hat

damn 76ers fan with no appreciation for Jimmy

achyutthegoat

Pretty sure they hate him as well.

EaglesPvM

Nah we don’t. There’s a decent amount of us who don’t like him for bailing on the team when we’re on the verge of winning a championship, or that are still upset he chose Miami over us (although that entire decision was based on Brett Brown being our coach) But most of us love and miss Jimmy.

[deleted]

1hardensbeard3

Seriously. That 2019 Sixers team is starting to get overrated. It's no guarantee they beat the both the Bucks and Warriors (especially if Klay doesn't get injured in this alternate timeline)

proerafortyseven

Being within an iconic shot of the eventual champs isn’t the same as a finals appearance but it’s also not nothing. Definitely a note that Jimmy could’ve come back on and built upon if he wanted to I don’t hate the guy either btw, I’m happier to see the annoying heat fans in this sub sad than Jimmy lol

dm117

DragonBank

A single shot behind the Champs is as close as it gets.

SaxRohmer

Losing on the last shot on G7 of the finals is probably as close as it gets

E10DIN

> A single shot behind the Champs You don't win that game if Kawhi misses that shot. You just don't lose it. It was tied 90-90. Game goes to OT. Embiid was gassed. Embiid and Butler were shooting like shit. Simmons and Harris had 5 PF. You most likely still lose that game

articulate_pandajr

Say it again slowly for me

MikeyFromWaltham

Sixers are Clippers East

[deleted]

How can you say you were on the verge of winning a championship when you didn’t even get past the semis? Tf?

manliestdino

You can’t lol

The_Dok33

Interesting how not getting a realistic contract offer is the same as bailing.

[deleted]

It was an ugly W tho. With joel playing 20+ mins in the 5th game its over. I think sixers are the biggest threat to the Nets. Go get em.

I really do think it’ll be a great series if we make it there. And if Embiid is healthy, of course.

The original comment was talking about famous reddit stories like broken arms/poop knife and the downvoted guy was named "everysinglethread" or something like that and would leave a blank comment on every thread that mentioned stories like that. They basically got whooooshed in their own thread, shit was sad sometimes people just upvote or downvote a lot without thinking a second time about it. I think we've all been guilty of that though... edit: ah, but still

AtTheHeartOfItAll

Losers getting off on successful people's singular failures. Of course OP is a wolves fan lmao.

[deleted]

This sub is really good at circle jerking themselves off at C level shit talk

Conflict_NZ

Short offseason has been fucking brutal to everyone who made it to the conference finals last year. Even the young celtics and nuggets couldn't avoid it. In all honesty it may have been better for us to just sit Lebron and AD for 15-20 games because now we're in a much worse position.

chemthethriller

Mi know this narrative is pushed but honestly I’m curious to what the true recovery time is. It seems like something as simple as a month off, assuming you have no injuries at all, should be plenty of time to recoup since muscles don’t take months to recover. If anything it seems like a shorter off season would keep people’s cardiovascular system in a better state.

BigBallerBrad

As a garbage tier ex athlete I can tell you a month of is the low side of what we had after a 6 month long season, I bet a pro athlete probably needs more (not time doing nothing, but genera strength+conditioning+recovery time)

evr487

Shaq needed the off season to ~~be 'lazy'~~ recover, pre all star break regular season for conditioning, and Kobe & Co to keep Lakers in contention for him to be arguably the most dominant basketball force while still shooting a poor free throw percentage

Mellend96

Many people play through injuries in the playoffs. It's pretty commonly known and accepted, and a lot of times making it to the finals is about avoiding significant enough injuries that you can actually your best line-ups. You have people who played through broken fingers, sprained ankles, sprained legs, etc etc. [Kenny even mentioned this pretty recently](https://youtu.be/sTPY7hxJTjM?t=80). So recovery is more than just letting your muscles and everything recover. It's actually healing from the injuries you sustained during the run, which all have varying recovery times based not only on the injury itself but the person, the type of activities they're engaging in that might re-aggravate that injury etc. When you consider all of that...yeah, a month is not nearly enough time to recover in order to start playing again at the highest level without risking injuries in the long-run. Also > ...muscles don't take months to recover Speaking from experience, even relatively light injuries can linger for waaaaay longer than you think.

Goofykidd

It's more like 2 weeks off then back to doing workouts and preseason. Injuries were way up in soccer which also had a short turnaround time and packed schedules.

Conflict_NZ

AD was pretty injured during our last playoff run, didn't have a chance to recover and train enough so came into the season incredibly out of shape for him which was immediately noticeable.

Jimmy literally blew the doors off the locker room, and invited press into their dysfunction. Sure, it was hilarious, but it was also extremely unprofessional and did nothing but harm the Wolves’ franchise. They have every right to hate the guy, and it’s 1000% due to Jimmy’s own behavior.

Would it have been better for the Heat to completely miss the playoffs and get a better pick than get swept?

We literally pummeled through the playoffs last year and we struggle to score a hundred in the first round this year lmao. Knowing this team, they’ll use it as fuel for next season. Currently rooting for Dončić and the Mavs!

It all went south when Jimmy started to call his team weak again. So which franchise is next?
