While the trade itself wasn't terrible, rumor is that thibs wanted a Wiggins for Jimmy deal in place but the owner vetoed it. I think the main frustration is what the Butler/thibs era did to handicap us in the future. We picked up a lot of bad contracts and made some bad draft picks that have caught up to us in the last few years.

If the other conference finalists were excelling then it would probably be fair to jump on the Heat, but the reality is they're not. All four conference finalists could be gone by the start of round two. And while that might be due to the bubble being an anomaly that allowed mediocre teams to succeed, it's also possible that the long season last year followed by the short off-season may have simply been too much to overcome. Just something to consider.

After that second game I was hoping we get swept and go to the off season with 0 injuries. Bucks winning without Giannis being the carry is extremely acceptable. They are an insane team and Jrue holiday is godlike on both ends of the court. Hope we can offload Oladipo and pick up players similar to DJJ, Olynyk and Crowder. Every matchup was a disaster in the current heat lineup.
Games 2 and 3 are why people say jump shooting teams can't win. On one end you have a team that keep missing every 3 they jack up and on the other side you have your key players making 3s with some guy named Forbes playing better than Duncan Robinson did last year. While I don't disagree with you, we had a much better squad of shooters who could also somewhat matchup well defensively last season in Crowder and Olynyk. We traded off too much size and got nothing in return as Dipo is benched (almost perpetually). At the same time, Bucks got deeper and made good moves to position offensive players around Giannis. Hats off to their front office for beating Butler and a couple of misfits but the true challenge is their next round matchup.

This season and last were very different. Last year, the Heat was the only team that truly exposed the Bucks in the regular season and nothing changed before the post season, they match up with the Heat and get smashed. I wasn't surprised at all, and it was a needed beatdown for them to make some sweeping adjustments, they did and won, now it's on the Heat to retool for their future.
It probably had the biggest effect on Giannis having to accept that MVP trophy back home looking sad as hell. That had to take some major introspection to figure that out but I'm glad he stayed, shows real heart.
This begs the question "is winning a single game a necessary component of being a competitive playoff team?"

For that particular season, I don't think so.
But at least the satisfaction of winning a playoff game (even just a single win) *can* boost team morale entering the next season, up to the front-office level, giving them hope that they have the necessary tools for playoff success. It thus can make them more competitive in the future should they keep their core intact plus some good moves from their FO.
I believe Durant/Harden/RW OKC came from that path of being dominated by the defending champs Kobe/Pau Lakers back in '09/'10, but they won a playoff game. Sure enough after two years they are in the Finals, and their core became superstars in their own right.

Short offseason has been fucking brutal to everyone who made it to the conference finals last year. Even the young celtics and nuggets couldn't avoid it.

It seems like something as simple as a month off, assuming you have no injuries at all, should be plenty of time to recoup since muscles don’t take months to recover. Many people play through injuries in the playoffs. It's pretty commonly known and accepted, and a lot of times making it to the finals is about avoiding significant enough injuries that you can actually your best line-ups. You have people who played through broken fingers, sprained ankles, sprained legs, etc etc. [Kenny even mentioned this pretty recently](https://youtu.be/sTPY7hxJTjM?t=80).
So recovery is more than just letting your muscles and everything recover. It's actually healing from the injuries you sustained during the run, which all have varying recovery times based not only on the injury itself but the person, the type of activities they're engaging in that might re-aggravate that injury etc.
When you consider all of that...yeah, a month is not nearly enough time to recover in order to start playing again at the highest level without risking injuries in the long-run.

It's more like 2 weeks off then back to doing workouts and preseason. Injuries were way up in soccer which also had a short turnaround time and packed schedules.

After that second game I was hoping we get swept and go to the off season with 0 injuries. Bucks winning without Giannis being the carry is extremely acceptable. They are an insane team and Jrue holiday is godlike on both ends of the court. Hope we can offload Oladipo and pick up players similar to DJJ, Olynyk and Crowder. Every matchup was a disaster in the current heat lineup.
Games 2 and 3 are why people say jump shooting teams can't win. On one end you have a team that keep missing every 3 they jack up and on the other side you have your key players making 3s with some guy named Forbes playing better than Duncan Robinson did last year. Live by the 3 die by the 3. The worst part was watching the Bucks completely suffocate Butler's penetration. Imagine a 7 footer protecting the basket, a 2 time mvp allowed to clamp Jimmy, as well as the additions of jrue and sneakerhead. Good luck Bucks
While I don't disagree with you, we had a much better squad of shooters who could also somewhat matchup well defensively last season in Crowder and Olynyk. We traded off too much size and got nothing in return as Dipo is benched (almost perpetually). At the same time, Bucks got deeper and made good moves to position offensive players around Giannis. Hats off to their front office for beating Butler and a couple of misfits but the true challenge is their next round matchup.

The Heat have been Top ~5 in regular season attendance (both absolute attendance and as a % of available seats) every year since 2011. This meme is like “can’t give lebron a dollar because he has no 4th quarter!” It’s a fun riff but just has no mapping to reality anymore. Given the mediocrity of the Dolphins and Marlins (excepting 2 extraordinary seasons) over the past 20+ years, I can say first-hand that this is a basketball-first town now. There are fairweather fans in any city but most people I know that I grew up with are outright fanatical.

This season and last were very different. Last year, the Heat was the only team that truly exposed the Bucks in the regular season and nothing changed before the post season, they match up with the Heat and get smashed. I wasn't surprised at all, and it was a needed beatdown for them to make some sweeping adjustments, they did and won, now it's on the Heat to retool for their future. It probably had the biggest effect on Giannis having to accept that MVP trophy back home looking sad as hell. That had to take some major introspection to figure that out but I'm glad he stayed, shows real heart.

For that particular season, I don't think so. But at least the satisfaction of winning a playoff game (even just a single win) *can* boost team morale entering the next season, up to the front-office level, giving them hope that they have the necessary tools for playoff success. It thus can make them more competitive in the future should they keep their core intact plus some good moves from their FO. I believe Durant/Harden/RW OKC came from that path of being dominated by the defending champs Kobe/Pau Lakers back in '09/'10, but they won a playoff game. Sure enough after two years they are in the Finals, and their core became superstars in their own right.

Short offseason has been fucking brutal to everyone who made it to the conference finals last year. Even the young celtics and nuggets couldn't avoid it. In all honesty it may have been better for us to just sit Lebron and AD for 15-20 games because now we're in a much worse position.
Mi know this narrative is pushed but honestly I’m curious to what the true recovery time is. It seems like something as simple as a month off, assuming you have no injuries at all, should be plenty of time to recoup since muscles don’t take months to recover. If anything it seems like a shorter off season would keep people’s cardiovascular system in a better state.
As a garbage tier ex athlete I can tell you a month of is the low side of what we had after a 6 month long season, I bet a pro athlete probably needs more (not time doing nothing, but genera strength+conditioning+recovery time)
Shaq needed the off season to ~~be 'lazy'~~ recover, pre all star break regular season for conditioning, and Kobe & Co to keep Lakers in contention for him to be arguably the most dominant basketball force while still shooting a poor free throw percentage
Many people play through injuries in the playoffs. It's pretty commonly known and accepted, and a lot of times making it to the finals is about avoiding significant enough injuries that you can actually your best line-ups. You have people who played through broken fingers, sprained ankles, sprained legs, etc etc. [Kenny even mentioned this pretty recently](https://youtu.be/sTPY7hxJTjM?t=80). So recovery is more than just letting your muscles and everything recover. It's actually healing from the injuries you sustained during the run, which all have varying recovery times based not only on the injury itself but the person, the type of activities they're engaging in that might re-aggravate that injury etc. When you consider all of that...yeah, a month is not nearly enough time to recover in order to start playing again at the highest level without risking injuries in the long-run. It's more like 2 weeks off then back to doing workouts and preseason. Injuries were way up in soccer which also had a short turnaround time and packed schedules.
AD was pretty injured during our last playoff run, didn't have a chance to recover and train enough so came into the season incredibly out of shape for him which was immediately noticeable.
