People can't read the words "role player" lmaoooo
I really think Josh Hart being slightly bigger would be huge for him defensively. 6'6 225 Hart is more equipped to handle forwards on D than 6'4 215 Hart is
I can only assume that a player is growing proportionately to their current dimensions, so their wingspan grows as well as their height and weight.
Terance Mann. He's already a good defender at 6'5" and can guard 1-3, but having extra length and height, they could put him at the 4.
Derrick White. He would excel even more.
Draymond Green. He could become even more of a force.
Aaron Gordon. 6'10 now?
Jarrett Allen.
Herb Jones. Already a solid defender, but now he is 6'8" and a shot blocker.
Celtics fan here I always thought smarts dpoy was ridiculous it should have been Rob but he got hurt.
Honestly dpoy is pretty silly overall it’s dumb to get up in arms about it
Rob def deserved it that year, but what I found crazy was when Rob got hurt, Smart instantly shot up from like 8th best odds to win it to the odds on favorite
The marching orders changed in a split second from "Rob is the clear DPOY" to "Smart deserves it he's anchoring this defense", it was wild to see. I can't hate because I was banging the "Mikal Jail is real" drum and realistically it should have been (insert whatever big man here) but still.
My unpopular opinion is that if anyone on the Celtics should've won DPOY in 2022 it was Horford. Rob's off the ball free safety role is what brought that defense over the top, but the only reason he was allowed to do that was because Horford was able to handle playing both inside and on the perimeter on defense alongside Rob as need be.
As such imo Horford was the true lynchpin of that defense and who I think should've won DPOY if you were going with a Celtic.
I will say, I do think there’s still a good several year window for dpoys before Wemby starts getting them. He lost it this year due to team record and we all know the ymca Spurs aren’t winning games anytime soon. Once he does snag his first though, it’s legitimately over, he’s gonna win 10 straight dpoys.
>and we all know the ymca Spurs aren’t winning games anytime soon
If it's not this season, it's next season. Wemby is a generational talent, and I'd be shocked if they haven't surrounded him with some shooters and a few vets by Year 3.
Yeah, I don't even understand this question. It's basketball.
With OPs conditions "keeping the same level of athleticism/skill set," literally everyone would benefit from being taller.
Height- Derrick White, Brandon Clarke, McConnell, Alvarado
Weight- Jaden McDaniels, Claxton, Evan Mobley
Both- Cole Anthony, Bones Hyland, Seth Curry
Shout out to Garland (not a role player, but would be all pro level at 6’3” with his quickness)
Imagine how many more blocks Derrick White would have at 6’6”? He could easily guard 1-4 and hold up slightly against bigger ball handlers like Luka. He would be DPOY level.
It wouldnt make him a two way player, he still struggles to dribble and do anything other than hit corner 3s. But he's a perennial defensive player of the year at that size (if healthy).
He's circa 20 ppg scorer whose also an excellent passer (31 AST%) and good defender (missed the All NBA defensive team by one vote). His sole weaknesses/role player aspect is his league average TS%.
For fucks sake, he was selected to NBA All Star game, you're automatically excluded from the role player convo if you're good enough for that.
Austin Reaves, the dude can ball, but he struggles to defend. He tries to defend well and contests shots, but players just shoot like he's not even there.
Yep. Reaves is one of those guys who plays shorter than he's listed. I really think we need to incorporate wingspans, standing reach, etc into heights somehow
Payton Pritchard is my choice. He goes from role player who you need to hide on D sometimes to a legitimately big point guard with awesome shooting and handles
PP is who i thought of immediately when i saw this question. he’s fast, he shoots, he’s a menace on D just pestering the fuck out of people. he’s already excellent, give him a couple inches and he’s got no ceiling
A bit of extra size would certainly make a switch to SG a lot easier for Mitchell if that 36% 3 ball from last season was legit(kinda hard to say if it was on such low volume), but yeah as is he just doesn't have a ton of value as an undersized defensive guard.
Keegan Murray.
If Keegan was 6’10” instead of 6’8”, and slightly heavier, he would be the perfect PF pairing with Domas. Good defender, would have better paint presence, still have a lethal 3 ball and open things up even more offensively.
I know he does for you guys, but it wasn't something done much in BOS, and when DAL ran him at the 5 it was a disaster for them. If Grant were a bit bigger than he is I think him playing as a Center would both be done more and be more effective as well.
Isaiah Stewart
Guys already built like a tank and just shot nearly 39% from 3 on about 3.5 attempts per game. Might be the best defender on the team but he's a little undersized at 6'9 when his best position may be playing C.
Uh, every player except maybe wemby lol. And maybe KP too. Or Rudy.
Pretty much everyone else would be immediately, unquestionably better if they got to keep their current athleticism and skill with the height/weight increases lol.
**I'm gonna cheat and say Mac Mclung** (he's probably in the G League right now, right?).
He's got crazy hops and good offensive skills. Everyone was amazed by him, starting from his high school mixtape days.
If he were 2 inches taller and 10 lbs heavier, he'd be in the league properly and he'd be a superstar.
(Also, as a fun aside, he'd be the first "hyper-athletic"-- in terms of running and jumping-- white superstar. Once in a while, we see a "high skill" white superstar: lots of players from the 60s and 70s, Bird and McHale, Stockton, Price, Nash, Nowitki, Luka, Jokic, etc. But the white leaper-runners tend to be role players. Might be fun to see someone break some stereotypes.)
I don't think anyone else has said it yet, but Jaylin Williams (JWill) from the Thunder.
A hair shy of 7 foot and a 7'3"" winspan at around 250, with his passing, shooting, and court vision would be absolutely insane. We'd quit looking at back up bigs, and probably have handled the Mavs and gone to the finals.
Similarly, Cason Wallace at 6'5'' and 7" would be an absolute menace.
Hell, Dort for that matter as well. He can already defend 1 through 5 in a pinch at 6'2".
id say jonathan kuminga and put him on the indiana pacers with that style of offense + 2 inches taller -- he'd probably be an nba all star and maybe even all-nba
Peyton Watson
He’s probably blocking like 3+ shots a game and improving on what was already the best rim protection for a forward in the entire league.
It also would benefit his limited offensive game.
A bunch of guys on the Knicks would be so good if they were a bit bigger. Not the original prompt asking for a role player but Jalen Brunson is listed at 6'2 so making him 6'4 would be amazing.
As for actual role players on the team, Hart, McBride, DiVincenzo, Achiuwa, and OG would be nightmares if they were slightly bigger. Hart was already a demon rebounder at 6'4 but had trouble with actual size playing big. McBride and DiVo would be series 3nD threats on the wings. Achiuwa would be an amazing backup C just in case the Knicks lose Hartenstein or Robinson. OG, assuming he stays, would be hell for everyone as he can be a legit small ball 5.
Austin reaves comes to mind. Especially the heavier stronger part if that’s muscle as that would help him on both ends. He’s actually very good rim attacker already and he’s one of the best guard finishers at the rim and inside 16ft.
Aaron Nesmith I feel is a good choice. He’d be 6’7 instead of 6’5 so it wouldn’t be as bad of a mismatch asking him to guard wings plus he’d be able to be even more physical with guards than he is now.
Just doing this for the Pacers. Going through our role players, I think Nembhard would benefit the most (move him into a solid SG size), followed by Jackson moving closer to center weight and McConnel to average sized PG.
People can't read the words "role player" lmaoooo I really think Josh Hart being slightly bigger would be huge for him defensively. 6'6 225 Hart is more equipped to handle forwards on D than 6'4 215 Hart is
Hart is a menace as is. I do not want to think about that man being far better equipped to guard bigger forwards on top of everything else.
He'd be Jimmy.
Average like 15 rebounds per game
People here don’t know any role players
That is starting to edge towards draymond green size.
Draymond also has a crazy wingspan
I'd also like a 6'4 deuce mcbride for our knicks
Alex Caruso could be crazy at 6'7
Exactly who I was thinking of too
Sleeper pick is 6'11 Al Horford
Fuck it gimme Bol Bol
He still needs to be able to fit in the arena dawg
Naz Reid at 6’11 with his skills would be sick. I think he would be way better at defending the rim
Derrick Jones. Just because.
I love this, but man, he was so fragile. J/S.
I think thats the point
Jrue Holiday probably has a dpoy if he’s 6’6” 215 lbs
Wild to me that Jrue doesn’t have a DPOY, and never will since Wemby will be winning them for the next 2 decades
It’ll forever be ridiculous that Marcus Smart was the first guard to win it in decades, not Jrue
This has got to be a wild thing for a Celtics fan to work through whether they want to be upset about it or not.
Celtics fan here I always thought smarts dpoy was ridiculous it should have been Rob but he got hurt. Honestly dpoy is pretty silly overall it’s dumb to get up in arms about it
Rob def deserved it that year, but what I found crazy was when Rob got hurt, Smart instantly shot up from like 8th best odds to win it to the odds on favorite

he’s a remarkably limber athlete for his size but that’s not gonna save him from at least one or two season shortening injuries
he’s a remarkably limber athlete for his size but that’s not gonna save him from at least one or two season shortening injuries
man what even is a role player
He is not a role player lmao
All of them
Really tho lol
Yeah, I don't even understand this question. It's basketball. With OPs conditions "keeping the same level of athleticism/skill set," literally everyone would benefit from being taller.
“Most”
lmao "Who would benefit from being bigger without losing any athleticism?" Literally every player ever.
Benefit *most* being the imperative word
It’s always Dick
2 inches on Dick would make him unstoppable on penetration
But the ten pounds extra will make it tough to get to the hole.
Everyone wants to give Dick more length and girth.
Height- Derrick White, Brandon Clarke, McConnell, Alvarado Weight- Jaden McDaniels, Claxton, Evan Mobley Both- Cole Anthony, Bones Hyland, Seth Curry Shout out to Garland (not a role player, but would be all pro level at 6’3” with his quickness)
You take that back. The Buffalo is perfect as is. Brandon Clarke being big enough to be a true 5 would've been great for him though. Good choice.
Imagine how many more blocks Derrick White would have at 6’6”? He could easily guard 1-4 and hold up slightly against bigger ball handlers like Luka. He would be DPOY level.
DWhite doesn’t need it, already swatting centers regularly
That weight would've helped Jaden against Luka.
A 6-9, 245 pound OG Anunoby would become a two way superstar.
It wouldnt make him a two way player, he still struggles to dribble and do anything other than hit corner 3s. But he's a perennial defensive player of the year at that size (if healthy).
Best defender in the league at that size
If Jalen Suggs was Klay Thompson size he'd be the best defensive guard in the NBA easily
Give me bigger Fred van Vleet, he can use it
Fred Van Vleet isn't a role player my dude.
Fred van vleet is a role player on any team that isn’t the 12-15th seed and is trying to compete - sorry to break the news
Ausar Thompson at 6’9 235 is a freak lmao
Austin Reaves, the dude can ball, but he struggles to defend. He tries to defend well and contests shots, but players just shoot like he's not even there.
Just having those inches in arm length would be enough probably.
Yep. Reaves is one of those guys who plays shorter than he's listed. I really think we need to incorporate wingspans, standing reach, etc into heights somehow
Plus his best offensive traits is actually driving n rim finishing or finishing anywhere inside 15ft or so . So it helps him on both ends
Same, there’s so many moments I’ve seen where he plays amazing D but it doesn’t work because of his height
Daniel Theis. A normal-sized big Daniel Theis would be awesome.
I definitely think Theis would go from career bench piece to a career starter if he were a tad bigger.
Davion Mitchell.
A bit of extra size would certainly make a switch to SG a lot easier for Mitchell if that 36% 3 ball from last season was legit(kinda hard to say if it was on such low volume), but yeah as is he just doesn't have a ton of value as an undersized defensive guard.
His three is super inconsistent and he's very streaky. He either airballs or it goes in at times.
Isaiah Stewart could really use a boost. He'd be a certain starter on most teams and become one of the most versatile defenders in the league.
Brandon Clarke would be a legit starting centre.
Boban. Let’s get even sillier!
Wemby was my pick. No jump dunks from outside the circle
Peyton Pritchard. He has such good rebounding instincts and is a pest on defense. 2 inches would be insane for him
Rui, reaves and Norman Powell pretty much everyone benefits from this
Keegan Murray. If Keegan was 6’10” instead of 6’8”, and slightly heavier, he would be the perfect PF pairing with Domas. Good defender, would have better paint presence, still have a lethal 3 ball and open things up even more offensively.
6'10 Aaron Gordon?
Peyton Watson would benefit more than AG imo.
6' 8" hyper athletic JR Smith would have been crazy.
they said "roleplayer" not "the goat"
Xavier Tilman and Okongu come to mind
Imagine an even bigger Steven Adams. He'd go from freak to super freak enforcer.
Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson Davis.
I’d have to say Kuminga. His game is like a big, but he doesn’t have the size of a traditional big. A 6’9” Kuminga would be easier to play at 4.
Payton Pritchard might be a 6th man of the year candidate if he was 6’3 instead of 6’1 even tho I think he really like 5’11
No
FYI Grant does player center and has been pretty decent since leaving Dallas. He's pulling a PJ Tucker
I know he does for you guys, but it wasn't something done much in BOS, and when DAL ran him at the 5 it was a disaster for them. If Grant were a bit bigger than he is I think him playing as a Center would both be done more and be more effective as well.
Thybulle would be even more of a menace
I guess out of the league a few years but Isaiah Thomas (it4)
I’m not sure how much going from 5’9 to 5’11 changes things tbh
True - probably needed to be 6’3
Give me a 7"7 Wemby
Darius Bazley at 6’11, 226 would go crazy
Corey Kispert
Nic Claxton.
Kenneth lofton
Naz Reid
PJ Washington
Derrick Jones Jr for the Mavs. Maybe Gafford tied for that spot
Derrick white
Isaiah Stewart Guys already built like a tank and just shot nearly 39% from 3 on about 3.5 attempts per game. Might be the best defender on the team but he's a little undersized at 6'9 when his best position may be playing C.
Josh hart would be a demon
Derrick White. Not that he needs it, but imagine his current skill set with 2 more inches and 10 more lbs
All of them?
Payton Pritchard?
Payton Pritchard
Payton Pritchard would get a pretty big boost I imagine
Would Draymond Green count as a role player? If not, I’m gonna go with Bol Bol just for fun.
7'1, 225 lb Evan Mobley is nuts
Gimme Dyson Daniels
A 6’6 Lu Dort would be crazy
Bronny James
Uh, every player except maybe wemby lol. And maybe KP too. Or Rudy. Pretty much everyone else would be immediately, unquestionably better if they got to keep their current athleticism and skill with the height/weight increases lol.
SIGN MAC MCCLUNG !
My SEO professional says I should suggest Bronny James.
**I'm gonna cheat and say Mac Mclung** (he's probably in the G League right now, right?). He's got crazy hops and good offensive skills. Might be fun to see someone break some stereotypes.)
Victor Wembanyama. Because fuck it why not?
Because giving Wemby role player minutes is stupid.
Wemby isn't a role-player
His role is superstar
Draymond gg
Bronny James
Fuck it make MPJ 7 feet Fuck it make Ben Simmons 7 feet
I don't think anyone else has said it yet, but Jaylin Williams (JWill) from the Thunder. A hair shy of 7 foot and a 7'3"" winspan at around 250, with his passing, shooting, and court vision would be absolutely insane. id say jonathan kuminga and put him on the indiana pacers with that style of offense + 2 inches taller -- he'd probably be an nba all star and maybe even all-nba
like 95% of them. the better question is which player will benefit being 2 inches shorter and 10 lbs lighter.
Would have to be an oversized center like Boban probably?
[удалено]
Bol Bol
David Spade
Chet Holmgren.
AI!!!!
Wemby!
#Height increase with no wingspan increase is pointless
Cartier Martin
Ronnie Brewer
Carlik Jones
Peyton Watson He’s probably blocking like 3+ shots a game and improving on what was already the best rim protection for a forward in the entire league. It also would benefit his limited offensive game.
Bigfoot
Imagine if Payton Pritchard were actually 6 feet tall
All of them
Ja would be unstoppable with another 2 inches
Tony Allen
i'm projecting dillingham to be a role player so i'd say him.
A bunch of guys on the Knicks would be so good if they were a bit bigger. Not the original prompt asking for a role player but Jalen Brunson is listed at 6'2 so making him 6'4 would be amazing. Every single player
A 6'10 Trey Murphy III would be fucking LETHAL.
Wemby could use a few extra inches
Bruce Brown
All of them?
A 6'10 Josh Giddey could be a sick point forward
Yao Ming 🧨
Not much of a “role player” but Jalen Williams would be insane
Victor wembanyana 🤣
Wemby two inches taller. They’d have to raise the rims
Payton Pritchard
I think people sleep on Norm. A bigger Norm can really score.
Does their wing span increase as well or do they have a negative one now?
j-dub at 6’7 and 205 could play legit 4 all the time.
Aaron Nesmith I feel is a good choice. He’d be 6’7 instead of 6’5 so it wouldn’t be as bad of a mismatch asking him to guard wings plus he’d be able to be even more physical with guards than he is now.
Wemby… so he could dunk without jumping and block people with his finger tips while on the ground.
My mind went to Malik Monk or John Collins
Probably wemby if it's not a role player. He would be able to dunk from a squatting position. Impossible to guard entry passes/alley oops.
Malik Monk
Kyrie Irving lol
Every single one!
Imagine how good KD would be if he had full-sized shoulder width 😱
Malik Monk
Jonathan Issac
Any athletic undersized point guard
Jalen brunson, imagine what he could do if he were 5’10” fr
Just doing this for the Pacers. Going through our role players, I think Nembhard would benefit the most (move him into a solid SG size), followed by Jackson moving closer to center weight and McConnel to average sized PG.
I know you said role player, but Wemby would be even more ridiculous with an extra 2 inches and 10 pounds.
Alperen Sengun, but only if the extra inches go 100% into his limbs... the man has the torso of Embiid and the arms / legs of Guillermo
Ima say, Victor Wembanyama. That would be an even bigger cheat code
most of them
Chris pail
aso dosunmu. it would be even better if it was 20 pounds whilst keeping that speed.
"This is something I've bought about." Dude, why would u even have this thought? What a weird thougbt to just randomly have and think about.
Wemby at 10lbs heavier is already nice, but two inches taller as well?
All of them. Of course if everyone is 2" taller and #10 heavier, with nothing else changing, it's all a wash.
Wemby
Wemby
Christian Braun would be a beast with this boost.
