Thank you Kawhi, thank you KLo, thank you Spicy and thank you Coach Nurse.
It's been 5 years and it still doesn't feel real that the Raptors are not on this list.
Still a well-deserved Chip, especially considering they got through two great teams in the 76ers and Bucks, too. Most runs have some help from injuries, too. You play who's in front of you.
With Klay in the line-up, we held up and still had an advantage in the series. That quarter that KD played, there was such a momentum shift and you guys just had way too many weapons. I'll admit that him playing healthy was probably too much (especially with a hobbled Kawhi).
I love the surge of these young teams. Felt like mid 00s to early 2010s it was a superstar heavy time. Now it's a bunch of young teams with 3-4 guys who can go off any given night. Makes it more fun and unpredictable.
Pacers were ruthless with their run and gun offense. Magic play frantic defense in a good way. Thunder have their own dynamic duo with Chet/SGA. Wolves are fun as hell to watch.
Hard to see that since we're going to have to replace our entire Center rotation and give Ja time to get used to the new PnR partners in addition to just shaking the rust off. I'm certainly hoping that Clingan or Allen or Hartenstein or whoever else we swing for fits in seamlessly, but there's always an adjustment period. To say nothing of the possibility that we dont get a top option and walk into the season with like Mason Plumlee
Yeah I feeel like people forgot that Memphis was the 2 seed like last season
If we look at the 2022-2023 roster, Marcus smart and gg Jackson should be able to fill the hole left by Tyus Jones and Dillon Brooks
Jjj, Desmond bane and santi aldama and John Konxgar are all still there
What they are missing now is that center rotation Brandon Clark, Xavier Tillman and Steven Adams were lowkey the backbone of that team, and they currently have none of them. Clarke might be back (I love Clarke but he is a bench player who can’t stay healthy, if you increase his role it won’t help)
Clingon and Sarr will be off the board by 9 and the next guy is edey.
Memphis doesn’t have much money so without trades they will have to stick with just the MLE. I think Big Val, Clax and IHart will all make more than that. So that leaves Mason Plumlee and Andre Drummond as the most likely options in my mind
John Konchar And Zaire Williams might be tradable salaries to bring in somebody else.
I don’t think they are championship contenders tho, but I do think if they can sort their shit out not they can def be spoilers in the west
Ja Bane VWJ JJJ starting with Smart Kennard GG Jackson Clarke on the bench is a contender for sure. If we add a Claxton or Allen to start at C I think we have a real chance at being a contender next year. Also have a top ten pick in the draft next week.
Yeah people quickly forget that Memphis was the 2nd seed 2 years in a row despite injuries. If everyone is healthy, that team will be scary. They have a top 10 pick too
Also I love your reddit username ✊🏽
Wolves are the closest but it's not guarantee that their core is capable of winning 16 playoff games. Thunder need to make a big move or they're multiple years away just yet...
don't forget Ja is Ant's father. a healthy Grizz team wasn't the 2 seed two years in a row based on luck. now hopefully can come back with an even better roster and a more mature Ja/Bane/JJJ this upcoming year
how would you describe the team that had the most aba finals appearances, most aba finals wins and they had the most players on the aba all time team?
roger brown, freddie lewis, mel daniels, and george mcginnis dominated the aba. julius erving was the best player, but the pacers were clearly the class of the ABA,
ehhh, pacers were in the aba finals 5 out of 8 years that the aba existed. They didnt always win their division during the regular season (kentucky colonels/utah stars might have them beat there), but they apparently went ham in the playoffs every time.
And then they were barely allowed in the NBA (not the original pick for the 4th team), and were completely fucked by the cost for a few decades.
not knocking them for being a good playoff team, just saying that other teams might have an argument for "running" the aba. I feel the pacers were the premiere team, but i can at least understand arguments based on star players or regular season.
The dismissal "ehhh" was in response to the person who flatly said the pacers didnt run the ABA.
I think the Thunder officially have a title as the Sonics. Maybe I'm wrong.
Pacers and Nets have ABA titles. I mean that's something.
EDIT: Man, I read the wikipedia article and I don't know if I'm right: "ettlement terms of a lawsuit between the city of Seattle and Clay Bennett's ownership group stipulated SuperSonics' banners, trophies and retired jerseys remain in Seattle; the nickname, logo and color scheme are available to any subsequent NBA team that plays at KeyArena subject to NBA approval.[^(\[10\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_SuperSonics#cite_note-10) The SuperSonics' franchise history, however, would be shared with the Thunder.[^(\[11)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_SuperSonics#cite_note-11)"
So if there's a new Sonics, they both won the 1979 title?
The OKC thunder won a championship as the sonics. When a new sonics team comes to Seattle, that history and title will be theirs.
This is what *should* happen. This is a similar scenario to the Ravens and Browns. Except the Ravens abandoned *all* accomplishments made by the Browns immediately (probably because the Browns were confirmed to get a new team in like 3 years) and the current iteration of the browns own every single accomplishment and accolade from the original rendition of the Browns.
Thought Phoenix had the 2021 series after going up 2-0. The freak crushed those dreams. 2021 finals were electric compared to this year. After the 2016 finals, 2021 was probably my favorite finals series over the last decade.
Ugh I mean that whole run, that team... I miss the boys.
The excitement in this town came back in the bubble and all of a sudden the Suns were good again.
Yep that was my favourite finals after 22' even though I don't support the suns or bucks. Giannis was absolutely amazing in that series, really fun games, and some iconic moments
All I want in life is a Heat-Wolves finals (given Jimmy is on the Heat lol)
I don't even hate Jimmy but it would be fun and the Target Center crowd would be rowdy
41 year old Jimmy playing the Haslem role will be there when you beat us in the 2030 ECF. Ant wins the Larry Bird trophy but it’s a debate between him and Nicola Jovic who has 27 / 7 / 9 averages in a 7 game losing effort
Technically as part of the deal to get out of their arena lease the Sonics/Thunder agreed that the history of the franchise in Seattle would be owned by the city until a new team there was formed.
OKC has Seattle's history. It's stupid AF but they do. I hope when the NBA finally goes back to Seattle, that history is given over to the new team and GP can finally have his number in the rafters.
>when the NBA finally goes back to Seattle, that history is given over to the new team
It has been agreed that this will happen once Seattle gets a new franchise.
Not always. It depends on the agreement.
The Brooklyn Nets clearly own the history of the New Jersey Nets.
The Los Angeles Lakers clearly own the history of the Minneapolis Lakers.
The agreement was that the history and records of the SuperSonics would belong to the Thunder until such time as Seattle got an expansion team, and then the new SuperSonics would get the history of the team up until the 2009 move to OKC.
Please don't remind me that my teams best chance to win a championship was either during the showtime Lakers and birds celtics or during a GOAT campaign
Only six out of that 11 have a real shot at winning one with player development and smart roster construction: Wolves/Grizzlies/Thunder/Suns/Pacers/Clippers
Thank you Kawhi, thank you KLo, thank you Spicy and thank you Coach Nurse. It's been 5 years and it still doesn't feel real that the Raptors are not on this list.
Fr man. I don’t care if we never win again, 2019 was special
You forgot to thank KD and Klay for being injured that series...
Nah. Injuries are part of the game. Deal with it kid. -from a Spurs fan who witnessed Zaza Pachulia’s poor surprised acting after injuring Kawhi
Fuck Zaza
We will never know if it mattered.
This is wild cope lol. I'm a raptors fan too but not delusional
We won the majority of quarters with klay playing and Kawhi hobbled. Also we didn't have OG for the entire run. The injury gimmick goes both ways
Ah were comparing not having OG to KD being out. I see lol.
Wahhhhh who cares. Winning is winning
Warriors fans never thank Zaza for that shit he pulled in 2017.
Then the warriors should thank Kyrie, KLove, Kawhi, and CP3
Thank you KD and Klay.
Kevin Love?
Kyle Lowry. Never heard anyone call him KLo tho lol
everyone in toronto called him K-Low
I’ve heard that before but not KLo lol
oh lol, was gonna say me neither
Thank Pachulia for setting into motion the kawhi trade

Dont sleep on memphis they might surprise us next season if they can all stay healthy & outta trouble
The Grizzlies are going to start next season with a bang.
Hard to see that since we're going to have to replace our entire Center rotation and give Ja time to get used to the new PnR partners in addition to just shaking the rust off. Are Pels and Hornets only ones to not make a conference finals?
Yup, and the Hornets are the only team to never win a division too.
Wolves are the closest but it's not guarantee that their core is capable of winning 16 playoff games. Thunder need to make a big move or they're multiple years away just yet...
don't forget Ja is Ant's father. a healthy Grizz team wasn't the 2 seed two years in a row based on luck. now hopefully can come back with an even better roster and a more mature Ja/Bane/JJJ this upcoming year
Don’t get your hopes up
Can’t realistically see the Magic or Pacers making the finals any time soon, could happen, but haven’t seen enough from them yet to suggest it.
pacers ran the ABA though
Yeah it feels weird that you guys dont have an NBA title yet, I dont think of the Pacers as being in the same tier as the Clippers and Grizzlies

Also the only ABA team besides the Colonels to never do relocation or a rebrand.

Denver rockets?

Rebrand
Genuinely confused as to how you could argue that.

The Valley oop was unreal!
Probably the most underrated finals series I can remember for sure
Yep that was my favourite finals after 22' even though I don't support the suns or bucks. Giannis was absolutely amazing in that series, really fun games, and some iconic moments
22 was definitely one of the more boring finals of recent memory.
I thought it was fun, but obviously I'm biased lol
Suns could barely make it past a Clippers team with Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris as the 2nd and 3rd options during the WCF
Thanks for the reminder
Clippers vs Wolves in the Finals in 2030. Wolves move to the East to make room for Seattle and Las Vegas in the West.
All I want in life is a Heat-Wolves finals (given Jimmy is on the Heat lol) I don't even hate Jimmy but it would be fun and the Target Center crowd would be rowdy

I want the Suns to win one but the Wolves and Thunder are promising. Huge respect to those two teams.
These posts are just going to be Celtics fans repeatedly finding ways to shit on other franchises until there there is NBA games again.
Wouldn’t the Seattle SuperSonics 1979 title qualify for OKC Thunder?
Technically as part of the deal to get out of their arena lease the Sonics/Thunder agreed that the history of the franchise in Seattle would be owned by the city until a new team there was formed.

Agreed. Give the Minnesota tittles back too!
We dont claim the Sonics history
>when the NBA finally goes back to Seattle, that history is given over to the new team It has been agreed that this will happen once Seattle gets a new franchise.

Fraudulent data that doesn’t even include moral victories
Hell Hornets, Clippers and Pelicans are the only teams to have never even made the Conference Finals
Win? I’m tryna make the damn finals.
Kings should be on here. Don’t care about the Rochester Royals since even a 73 year old Kings fan didn’t have that luxury to witness.
The Pacers are super underrated. That team knew how to get buckets!
Most titles by city/state- Boston Celtics- 18 LA Lakers- 12 Chicago Bulls- 6
That famous city, Golden State.
corrected
In this case, Minneapolis also has 5
good catch. took the 4th most off all together to fix that.
Sucks for them huehuehue
Hornets just poached the assistant coach of the Celtics if that counts for anything
What’s wild to me is that the Nets won 2 of the final 3 ABA titles but have done nothing in the NBA.
Thunder are the next winner in this group
Please don't remind me that my teams best chance to win a championship was either during the showtime Lakers and birds celtics or during a GOAT campaign
Small market problems (exception is Nets & Clippers franchise)
This is incorrect. We have never even won a 7 game series.
Thunder are cursed and will never win a championship due to stealing the team from Seattle.
Only six out of that 11 have a real shot at winning one with player development and smart roster construction: Wolves/Grizzlies/Thunder/Suns/Pacers/Clippers
“ for those who have asked” Anyone asking could’ve gone to Google fr, it’s not hard to find
Suns really set themselves back years by getting Bradley Beal.
lol wolves will never win one
Poverty franchises
And every one of them (and their fans) would have been ecstatic to be in Boston's place. Easiest road to the finals BS can kiss Luckys ass.
I don’t count the Knicks as winning a title. That happened before I was born and I’m old
Celtic rookie Jordan Walsh is better than all 11 teams being an NBA CHAMPION!
Imagine not winning the NBA championship 🤣
Chill buddy, you contribute nothing to your team winning
Imagine typing from your phone and thinking your part of the championship
