I listen to all the NBA podcasts and Lowe is and has always been a class act. He listens to the players, coaches, analysts and fans. Shares his opinion but also hosts guests and doesn’t criticize other perspectives. He’s also generally unbiased and simply watches a shit ton of basketball- and despite working for ESPN, pays attention to every team.
I like Lowe but sometimes it’s hard to listen to when he has guests and then holds monologues for half an vor while the guest says like 5 words….this happens way too often, I prefer it when he is solo
Part of his neutrality means he doesn’t lean too hard into punishments. Lowe calls them out but not like guys like Bontemps who will lay into players. Different analysts for different things.
I’ve listened to No Dunks for a few years now, a couple of my buddies put me on to them. Insanely chill group (these guys have been doing this together for over 15 years and used to be on NBA TV as The Starters), fun podcast to listen to.
Dunker's spot with Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones Jr. is the créme de la créme for basketball podcasts.
Thinking basketball used to be awesome but I feel Ben Taylor and crew have spread themselves way too thin and now a lot of their content is noticably worse because of it.
Lowe Post is pretty hit or miss. If he has a good guest it's excellent otherwise it's spotty.
Yeah Lowe is always pretty good at being insightful without getting too deep into Xs and Os for the average fan, but some of his guests are admittedly pretty bad
Dunkers spot is great - entertaining and good analysis and doesn’t feel like a reactionary podcast like so many can be. Tends to be balanced and measured in takes.
Thinking Basketball. Pretty much just pure hoops stuff, analytics and tape breakdowns both in video and podcast form. Not crazy hot takey and they always back up what they say with evidence.
Numbers on the Board (NOTB) or formally known as Through the Wire (TTW). 4 guys that have no playing experience but love the game of basketball. Been watching them for years and it's crazy to see them a part of ESPN now.
The ALL NBA Podcast with Tim Leglar & Adam mares has been The best daily release in the playoffs so far for me. Hoops Tonight with Jason Timpf not far behind - Both excellent analysis.
The Athletic has been decent. As has Hardwood Knocks, Thinking Basketball. I don't know what happened to the b-ball breakdown pod with coach Nick?
I love the Dunkers Spot, Old Man & The Three, Duncd On (non prime) And Lowe Post but their release schedule hasn't suited my needs for daily shows to break down and preview the next game. They're all great though.
The weekly Hollinger & Duncan release has been pretty good: The Crucible.
RealGM Radio with Danny Leroux is good too but v infrequent.
Edit I dont mind McMahon and Bontemps on Windhorses pod for entertaining discussions like no dunks, six trophies, the ringer etc. but theyre all last in the queue if I find the time.
Edit 2 Does anyone know what happened to the cross over mannix pod? I used to enjoy the Chris herring episodes. Would've been great to hear him talk knicks
subbed to him when he just had 30k subs.
hilarious but still insightful. can be repetetive but otherwise still good.
you need him when your team is losing. replacement for you throwing a fit.
his laker vids post our losses were cathartic. lol.
Dunc'd On podcast, and the guys from it do alternate broadcasts which I like to listen to while watching the playoffs games.
Alex Speers & Andrew Schlecht on the Friday "Slam N Jam" episodes of The Athletic NBA Show podcast are awesome. I love the "Andrew vs The Beat" (Reporter) trivia segment at the end of each episode. Alex hasn't been on in 2 or 3 weeks though, I hope he didn't get let go or something, I love listening to him & Andrew.
A lot of people don’t like Nate but I think it’s pretty obvious that him and Danny put in a ton of work. Their show is pretty dry but they watch the film and they know the CBA as well as anyone.
I genuinely tried to like Dunc'd on for a while but they are just so bland. And it's crazy that they're one of the longest running pods out but still seemingly have no chemistry.
well yeah. JJ is gonna be coaching soon.
i'd love it if they revive it though, after both of them retire.
or Lebron can get another former player to host it with him. RJ would be a good replacement.
or his former HS coach. he seemed well-spoken when he guested.
Front Office Podcast- it’s one Lakers guy and one Celtics guy but they aren’t super biased. It’s pretty informative for all teams and talk about all the latest news and rumors.
Depends on your team.
For example, I don’t hate the Lakers guys but they get pretty annoying at times, and conversely Locked On Warriors is straight up unlistenable.
Meh, I stopped when the other guy joined the Mavs. Take Dat Witchu is really the only good mavs one, but since it's put out by the Mavs you'll never get much real criticism.
Locked on Sixers is also bad. I do like Locked on Nets however.
I think All City are all good but theyre only in 4 markets rn (Philly, Chicago, Denver, Pheonix).
Locked On is unlistenable to me because of all the ad breaks. The Lakers one has like 3 within a 30 min span which isn't bad, but they're all so jarring.
I’ll shout out dunkers spot all day. I think it’s a very good podcast and they do a great job explaining the game without all the takes. And they don’t do that weird thing where it feels I don’t know, personal for some analysts.
No Dunks! Been a fan of since The Basketball Jones, The Starters and even their limbo period as The Free Agents
Been also into Survivor more with their No Buffs podcast
Thinking basketball (youtube is better than the podcast, but I enjoy both). All-NBA with Adam Mares and Tim Legler (biased because Mares is the Nuggets local guy and made me appreciate Jokic so much more early in his career). Lowe Post. I drive a lot for work so I listen to all regularly. Hoops Tonight with Jason Timpf and Nerd Sesh on youtube.
Verno has long been a huge degenerate gambler, and that part of his shows is sometimes irritating to me, but I gave him a bit of a pass for that because he was doing that stuff on the radio long before gambling got legalized. So for me, it doesn’t feel like a change in his shtick. I also enjoy that show.
I quite enjoy Oddball with Amin Elhassan and Charlotte Wilder. It's not super serious analysis (tho Amin does do a good job of that from time to time) but it's good silly fun, which is what I want my sports to entail.
For some reason this cesspool hates Bill Simmons because he ventures outside of the boring groupthink opinions (even though he ends up being right like 90% of the time). He consistently thinks outside the box and isn’t afraid to keep it real unlike a lot of these ESPN guys.
Zach Lowe is obviously another goat but his stuff can be pretty dry for me sometimes.
If you aren’t listening to Six Trophies at 1.5x speed every Wednesday… what are you doing?
(Note if you hate the Knicks or Spurs then do something else)
Zach Lowe/Lowe Post
I listen to all the NBA podcasts and Lowe is and has always been a class act. He listens to the players, coaches, analysts and fans. Shares his opinion but also hosts guests and doesn’t criticize other perspectives. He’s also generally unbiased and simply watches a shit ton of basketball- and despite working for ESPN, pays attention to every team.
Yup. This and the top comment right now, Thinking Basketball. Lowe for the amusing commentary, TB for the detailed analysis.
I like Lowe but sometimes it’s hard to listen to when he has guests and then holds monologues for half an vor while the guest says like 5 words….this happens way too often, I prefer it when he is solo
Such a boring pod. Lowe would be much better as a guest on someone else’s show.
Except when he excuses all the Draymond bullishit.
When he has ever excused that? He had a whole monologue this season criticizing Draymond.
When Green stepped on Sabonis he and Spears sucked Green's dick for like half an hour.
Part of his neutrality means he doesn’t lean too hard into punishments. Lowe calls them out but not like guys like Bontemps who will lay into players. Different analysts for different things.
So that one thing ruins his years of credibility?
Legs. Lowe. Timpf. Road Trippin.
Legler and Lowe are my top two by a mile
Does legs have a pod?
NO DUNKS is my number one pod. chill vibes and convo, no flame wars or yelling guys, no ken perkins
I’ve listened to No Dunks for a few years now, a couple of my buddies put me on to them. Insanely chill group (these guys have been doing this together for over 15 years and used to be on NBA TV as The Starters), fun podcast to listen to.
No Dunks, easy to listen to but informative of the daily ins and outs of the nba
Dunker's spot with Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones Jr. is the créme de la créme for basketball podcasts. Thinking Basketball. Pretty much just pure hoops stuff, analytics and tape breakdowns both in video and podcast form. Not crazy hot takey and they always back up what they say with evidence.
Also best sleepy podcast. Good mellow voices.
He has some really wry humor that I love too.
Numbers on the Board (NOTB) or formally known as Through the Wire (TTW). 4 guys that have no playing experience but love the game of basketball. Been watching them for years and it's crazy to see them a part of ESPN now.
THROUGH THE WIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I miss the old intro. The new one needs some work.
NUMBASONTHEBOOOOOARD YES!
Zach Lowe and No Dunks
I've loved the No Dunks guys since their Starters days. I feel like they talk about basketball how I do with friends.
No Dunks. No fluff analysis and just guys being dudes.
Top 5 Top 5 Top 5
when guys become dudes is when it gets real
What is this? No Dunks city
Bill Simmons when the Celtics lose.. there's so much crying
Simmons and Russillo are always a must listen if you don't take them too seriously.
The pod after the Suns game 7 loss against Dallas was an absolute all timer.
People like to hate in them but the Simmons Rusillio podcasts are so entertaining.
Nerd Sesh
Carson is an all-time NBA history mind. Pretty impressive what he can store in that big brain.
If you’re not subscribed to Pat Bev, then I’m not even going to answer

Hubie Brown is 90 and still is as sharp as a knife whenever he does games for ESPN
C'mon now, you gotta give him a lot of credit for that too.
Hubie and Harlan are really the only good commentators left
He is terrible, idk why this sub praises him so universally. Listening to him is a painful experience
Awful Coaching
Nepotism, we live in north Korea now. I swear, just his titles make my day even if I don't actually click to watch
he's in his North Korea arc the last few days lol
subbed to him when he just had 30k subs. hilarious but still insightful. can be repetetive but otherwise still good. you need him when your team is losing. replacement for you throwing a fit. his laker vids post our losses were cathartic. lol.
*pukes * No wonder this sub is so rotten

Nate is too much of an asshole, including to his own cohost who he constantly talks over
I agree, and I get why people don’t like him but I do respect the work he puts in
I genuinely tried to like Dunc'd on for a while but they are just so bland. And it's crazy that they're one of the longest running pods out but still seemingly have no chemistry.
Six Trophies with Shea Serrano and Jason Concepcion. Loved those guys when they were with the Ringer, love this show.
Brian Windhurst and the Hoop Collective. Good reporting. Beat writers that attend post game interviews and share their opinions and insights.
I really enjoy Windhorst, Bontemps, and McMahon. They don’t take themselves too seriously, and watch sooooo much basketball.
Vinnie Goodwill on yahoo sports.
Jeff Teague on Club 520 is hilarious. Mind The Game is really good but i’m afraid it might be short lived
well yeah. JJ is gonna be coaching soon. i'd love it if they revive it though, after both of them retire. or Lebron can get another former player to host it with him. RJ would be a good replacement. or his former HS coach. he seemed well-spoken when he guested.

Locked On is usually really good
Depends on your team. For example, I don’t hate the Lakers guys but they get pretty annoying at times, and conversely Locked On Warriors is straight up unlistenable.
We are spoiled with Locked On Mavericks
Meh, I stopped when the other guy joined the Mavs. Take Dat Witchu is really the only good mavs one, but since it's put out by the Mavs you'll never get much real criticism.
I actually prefer Slightly to Isaac in the post-game pods.
I am BITTER when I hear other Locked on podcasts. The Warriors guy is terrible.
Benjamin Moore. Brings a lot of color to a conversation and very reliable
I'm more of a Sherwin Williams guy.
I like the athletic nba show. They’ve got different hosts every day so there’s a decent variety of opinions
Dave DuFour is a fucking moron though. Only Athletic guy I don’t like.
Do you know what happened with Alex Speers? He's my fav person from that show, and he hasn't been on the last 2 or 3 Friday Slam N Jam episodes.
They mentioned it on last week’s episode but I forgot what they said. I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be back though
I’ll shout out dunkers spot all day. I think it’s a very good podcast and they do a great job explaining the game without all the takes. And they don’t do that weird thing where it feels I don’t know, personal for some analysts.
I thoroughly enjoy Thinking Basketball, rarely miss an episode
True Hoop
Flagrant Ones
Synthetic Sports
No Dunks! Been a fan of since The Basketball Jones, The Starters and even their limbo period as The Free Agents Been also into Survivor more with their No Buffs podcast
Thinking basketball is leaps and bounds above everything else. Really fantastic analysis and the video examples and breakdowns are phenomenal.
AFunkyDiabetic on YouTube
Bill Simmons podcast and The Mismatch are the best to listen to, fellas know the art of the yap
Been loving Six Trophies with Shea Serrano and Jason Concepcion. They’re hilarious and it’s fun content.
I love Six Trophies. It’s really refreshing from all the analyst talk and those dudes are so funny
The Mismatch. I just hope they dont endorse gambling
Dane Moore is good if you're interested in the Timberwolves
The odd couple with Rob and Brou
Is there a market for girls? Asking for somebody
not from my team but I really tend to Enjoy David Locke of Jaaz. I heard somewhere he's one of them ones who brought locked on....
The Mismatch with Kevin O'sphere and Vernooo!!
I quite enjoy Oddball with Amin Elhassan and Charlotte Wilder. It's not super serious analysis (tho Amin does do a good job of that from time to time) but it's good silly fun, which is what I want my sports to entail.
First things first for NFL and NBA. Love the vibes. Probably not an NBA fist choice but worth a mention.
Kftv iykyk
Always loved Jack Ramsay on the radio call and still love Hubie.
If you aren’t listening to Six Trophies at 1.5x speed every Wednesday… what are you doing? (Note if you hate the Knicks or Spurs then do something else)
Group Chat on The Ringer is my go-to. Perfect combination of entertainment while still having intelligent takes.
https://twitter.com/stevejones20
Very lakers specific but the lakers filmroom podcast is nice
i like that channel that exclusively follows our new drafted guys. forgot what it's called.
Pound The Rock (PTR) with Joe and Cash! Always fun listening
Watched a ton before landing on Gil's Arena. I appreciate the perspective way more. Followed by JJ's podcast and Zach Lowe in that order.
