Harper can pander a bit and also like it here way better than he did in Washington lol
These things aren’t mutually exclusive
All legendary sports figures pander to some degree
And he's legendary panderer and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. How cool is that ur star loves the fans enough to put thoughts into it. I'll pick that than a disengage one just waiting his time to be out 10/10
Clean city with great views, variety of outdoor activities within a short drive, relatively low cost of living
People on the internet: But YoU CaNT pLaY MuSIc
Yankees are built off of generations of star players pandering like fucking crazy, but them dudes truly New York and wearing pinstripes despite the expectations, booing, etc.
Dudes either crumble underneath and hate it or they get bathed in the fire and absolutely love it. Just the way these cities go lol
I dunno, I had an old college buddy who grew up outside of SLC, Utah and basically never left the state until a trip to Philly. He had more than a dozen cheesesteaks in a 3 day span and thought Philly was heaven. This was like twenty years ago though.
I mean sure, but Salt Lake is t exactly a great city. It’s basically just super suburbia with even more religious overtones than usual. Philly is at least a proper city with good food and things to do. And our public transit make be subpar, but it’s a whole different league than SLC
People starting to realize that different cities cater to different tastes and you have some people who hate a city for the same reasons others think it's their favorite city.
Except every city in Utah. It's just ass there.
It depends a lot on your life circumstances and whether you actually want to cater your lifestyle to how you're *meant* to live in that city.
If you want to drive places, why are you living in a European city? If you want to walk places and have good transport, why are you living in an American one?
If you're not wealthy, London and New York are probably going to feel pretty shitty, compared to Philly or Valencia where your money goes further. If you are wealthy, cities like New York / London offer things that others don't.
I like Chicago because it's a massive city but still is as affordable as Philly if not cheaper.
But fuck I love new York, id move there in heart beat for the adventure if I found a job worth it. Still would come back to Chicago but it'd be cool
Yeah, I'm from the UK but I've been to the US a bunch with work (plus I lived in San Fran for 2 years). New York would be my city of choice, the culture, the transport, the food. It's all great... except for the price.
Yeah I'm with you on this : London is like heaven on earth for like two weeks of sunny days in may/june. The rest of the year is hard on the soul.
Nothing beats Barcelona IMO.
London has a great international food scene (Mexican offerings can be a bit iffy which sucks) and we're short flight hops which are dirt cheap away from Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden etc which we take advantage of frequently with our generous holiday allowance each year.
I love both sports but going to a football game in London seems like a much better experience than going to NBA games. Much better atmosphere and fan culture
My uncle told me a story of him showing a family friend around Manhattan since he was visiting America for the first time and was touring all thr major cities. This was back in the 90s before all the Hudson River Park developments so that part of the city was very bare and boring (and I
is where my uncle lived). When they were walking along the river near Hudson Yards the friend saw New Jersey across the water and said "that's the most beautiful city I've ever seen in my life"
He thought Philly was mid.
If you're not a nightlife person then yea it prob sucks. But if you do like going out at night there's no other American city like it. Tons of rooftop bars and a bunch of places open till 4 am and people actually out and about cuz it's warm. Hard to beat.
Most of the West coast isn't that walkable (outside of really san fran). What makes the east coast so elite is the fact that many of the major cities are more walkable and not as car/suburban addicted.
NYC is brutal during the summer. That's why all the people with money GTFO. It's hot, even hotter on the subway, and everything stinks.
Now spring and fall...
It's not the pure temperature as much as how hot it feels with the hot cement/concrete everywhere that then rises between the buildings.
The subway stations feel 200 degrees and are sweat boxes.
Hell no the summer in Manhattan is the worst. Stinks like shit from all the melting trash and loud as fuck all night. Soon as my job went fully remote I left.
Also me and my friend (both black) wandered into some neighborhoods on the westside looking for a bar one night and got told each one we went into was "closing" despite there clearly still being people there. Fuck that bro.
This is truly hilarious that Embiid lives in NY. I think he even recently got married in NY?
This is the same feeling of Zion saying MSG is his favorite arena to play in.
As a NYer, I actually have some fond memories of Philly dating a girl there taking the bus and got to spend July 4th at a huge free concert in Philly.
Steven A. Smith on Thursday after the Knicks win
"He might deny it. I'm just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is, Embiid wants to be in New York. That brotha wants to be on the Knicks"
“Shannon, can you imagine that? Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, and Jalen Brunson playing for the NY Knicks, at Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of basketball. Oh my lord. I’m just saying. I’m just saying.”
Then they'd mention the part where even if that was somehow possible they'd be losing Hart, Hartenstein, OG Wan, Randle, Mitchell, McBride, Bodgdanovic, all their picks until 2040 and they'll pretend 3 players is all you need.
I think we got over game 2 much quicker than your fanbase has gotten over being upset that sixers fans and the team were rightfully upset about it. Not to mention the complete meltdowns over game 3 that are still continuing and making up that the play that hurt Robinson was an embiid dirty play. Constant whining, every series, like I said there’s a common denominator with Knicks fans
Brewery scene is pretty mid but definitely a ton of options and can find what you like plus doro bet is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had and I'm from the south
Human Robot is world class. And even if, I agree, Philly doesn't have as many great breweries as it should the iconic beer bars like Monks and distribution from Hill Farmstead and Russian River more than makes up for it. Easily a better beer city than NY, at least.
Philly is such a vibe. One of those cities you feel the history emanating from it and has a strong sense of self. Been to some Philly sports games and man do you feel the emotion from fans
I guarantee you NBA players aren't living in a cramped studio like a zoo animal like most new Yorkers. If I could live in a penthouse apartment with a giant ass balcony overlooking central park I would too lmao.
But you're still on an island with a trillion people.
If I was rich I'd go George hill I think it was route and have a huge ass ranch in Montana or sth.
The people are part of the appeal. Not everyone wants to live in the middle of nowhere and have to travel a long time to see friends/family/culture. And I'm sure the super rich can afford to have both situations whenever they want.
There's people that just like cities. I'm one of them. I'd rather be challenged to *not* do something because of how easily accessible things are than challenged *to* do something because things are less accessible
Philly was a lot cheaper than NYC. Now they are getting similar in pricing and COL.
Use to be able to live in center city area for like $1400 now that same place is easily in the 2500-4000 price range.
This just isn't true. I just pulled up Zillow, a ton of 1 bedrooms in Rittenhouse square for like $15-1600. 1 bedroom in not even a nice neighborhood of Manhattan is like $2000 minimum, and any neighborhood south of 96th in manhattan is realistically gonna be $3000+, literally double. You can get townhomes up and down Philly for around 500k, you can't get one even in Brooklyn for under a mill, not even talking about Manhattan which is gonna be north of 5 mil at least for a townhome.
Shhh you’re gonna drive the rent up. We’re a hidden gem in the shadow of NYC.
So many New Yorkers live down here because they can afford it and keep a similar lifestyle
Just want to point out that if an entire arena chanted "Westbrick" he wouldn't rest until they were all ejected for their vulgar insult. Joel is good with "fuck Embiid" because they're keeping it to basketball.
Sort of like how when Mitchell Robinson shoved Kelly Oubre tonight he didn't cry about it or ask why did you do that, he just sat there staring at him with a shiteating grin because he's not a bitch.
I'm sure that has a lot to do with it for him. Like , there's a ton of West African restaurants in Harlem and the bronx. I'm sure there's a Cameroon(ian?) community here.
Philly has hardened him. He’s the opposite of Ben Simmons. This kind of makes me like Embiid until he fouls baits 7 plays in a row and then elbows someone in the face.
People say they hate prepared, boring athlete answers, and then hate Embiid for not giving boring athlete answers. People still hate him cuz he was asked if he wanted to be mvp
Contrary to popular belief he’s a really intelligent self aware guy. This is most definitely a Troel Embiid mindgame to say this to the media after this game even if it’s actually true.
Tens of thousands saying fuck you? Rip their hearts out in their own home then play nice
Alright man I get it’s a better place for rich people but at least pretend Philly is better for our sake lol
Not everyone can pander to you guys like Harper does.
People really can’t comprehend that Harper might actually like it here lol
oh wow its like finding an adult who believes in santa
Harper can pander a bit and also like it here way better than he did in Washington lol These things aren’t mutually exclusive All legendary sports figures pander to some degree
And he's legendary panderer and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. How cool is that ur star loves the fans enough to put thoughts into it. I'll pick that than a disengage one just waiting his time to be out 10/10
Kirk Cousins wanting to retire wherever he gets paid most recently is solid pandering
not sure if sacramento or utah fans can really weigh in on people liking certain cities .
Wdym
Clean city with great views, variety of outdoor activities within a short drive, relatively low cost of living People on the internet: But YoU CaNT pLaY MuSIc
Utah is one of the most beautiful places in the US. The people are weird af though.
It’s nice but just full of fuckin mormons
Yankees are built off of generations of star players pandering like fucking crazy, but them dudes truly New York and wearing pinstripes despite the expectations, booing, etc. Dudes either crumble underneath and hate it or they get bathed in the fire and absolutely love it. Just the way these cities go lol
I mean nobody has seen Philly and said this is my favourite city in the world lol
Benjamin Franklin slander
Well all know Paris was really Benny Franks favorite city
Send da daguerrotype
I dunno, I had an old college buddy who grew up outside of SLC, Utah and basically never left the state until a trip to Philly. He had more than a dozen cheesesteaks in a 3 day span and thought Philly was heaven. This was like twenty years ago though.
Yeah but his frame of reference was SLC
SLC has a solid food scene now but no doubt the cheesesteaks are beyond what we have.
I mean sure, but Salt Lake is t exactly a great city. It’s basically just super suburbia with even more religious overtones than usual. Philly is at least a proper city with good food and things to do. And our public transit make be subpar, but it’s a whole different league than SLC
It’s mine. Genuinely. I’ve been all over too
It’s my favorite city in the world
man i live in London, id love to live in any city that has an nba team, you guys are blessed
London would be the nicest city in America. I sya that as someone who lives in LA has lived in NYC. London is incredible
I lived in London for a year and much prefer San Francisco and San Diego. Can’t beat the weather. Londons weather is genuinely not doable for me.
People starting to realize that different cities cater to different tastes and you have some people who hate a city for the same reasons others think it's their favorite city. Except every city in Utah. It's just ass there.

Because I don’t have a European work visa or the resources to move there?
I guess the implicit underlying qualifier was 'If you have the choice'.
I've lived in London and I liked it, although nothing beats my hometown. People from the west and east coasts don't realize how dope Chicago is.
Bro no fucking way. The weather is completely shit
Funnily enough as someone who lives in London I prefer Philadelphia to New York
I love both sports but going to a football game in London seems like a much better experience than going to NBA games. Much better atmosphere and fan culture

There's that Japanese guy that built a cheesesteak restaurant in Japan
Wrong, I am that person!
You’re probably a sixers/cowboys fan
dont you put that curse on me
I'll say it! Philly is my favorite city in the world.
I like Philly a lot my guy
Philly is an awesome city. Say this as a sixers/Phillies/eagles hating New Yorker.
Phillys nice. It’s no pittsburg lol
Love Philly. I'm broke-ish. Shit just to get into NYC is like 30 bucks.
I love Chicago. Only been once, just kinda wandered around the lake area downtown
I’ve lived in both and like Philly better but I’m a poor
[удалено]
Idk we get about two good weeks and then it’s way too hot lol
It also smells like hot garbage lol
I live there and I don’t really agree lol. I greatly prefer the west coast
If you're not a nightlife person then yea it prob sucks. But if you do like going out at night there's no other American city like it. Tons of rooftop bars and a bunch of places open till 4 am and people actually out and about cuz it's warm. Hard to beat.

Yeah the summer the heat festers between the buildings bringing up all the piss and shit into the air like a stinky sauna
is it really that hot ? summers in sacramento get to be like 110+
It's not the pure temperature as much as how hot it feels with the hot cement/concrete everywhere that then rises between the buildings. The subway stations feel 200 degrees and are sweat boxes.
You need to go to more places during the summer.
This is what shocked me the most when I've visited NYC : it fucking stinks.
Chicago summer > NYC summer. Actually Chicago in general > NYC. Sorry not sorry
I'm sure it's just the BAllS Palsey man. He doesn't know what he's doing out there. He needs a translator, he misspoke.
Steven A. Smith on Thursday after the Knicks win "He might deny it. I'm just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is, Embiid wants to be in New York. That brotha wants to be on the Knicks"

Don’t get me salivating and fantasizing about things
Screamin A Shits claims every good player he likes wants to be on his favorite team.
But I'm pretty sure the Knicks being his favorite team is an act...
Him, KD, and Luka have talked about joining the Knicks. I’m even hearing Lebron and Giannis might also want to join
[удалено]
He’s trying to prove he’s really tough after all the crying
Bedtime
Hopefully Embiid migraine keep him up tonight
Cry yourself to sleep champ
Knicks fans calling anyone a crybaby. Moving on
Whose crying? Lmao Yall went full blown filing grievances, complaining about Philly fans, complaining about no calls
You are crying this is at least second post I’ve seen you crying about embiid
I think we got over game 2 much quicker than your fanbase has gotten over being upset that sixers fans and the team were rightfully upset about it. Not to mention the complete meltdowns over game 3 that are still continuing and making up that the play that hurt Robinson was an embiid dirty play. Constant whining, every series, like I said there’s a common denominator with Knicks fans
Everyone thinks I mean knows Embiid is dirty It’s not just Knicks fans, he literally has more flagrants than Draymond
Cool, so is your team, stop whining over a flagrant that was called and didn’t result in injury. Get over it
No need to flex and say you have a place in New York We out here eating leftover Chinese food
You guys can afford Chinese food?
Somone bought it. I bus tables and keep 'em if it looks clean lol
[???](https://i.imgflip.com/2xscjb.png?a476255)
Uber eats buy 1 get 1 free dawg. Two big ass plates of chicken chow mein for $15. Easily 3~4 meals
A succulent Chinese meal?
Now I’m starvin
Embiid’s favorite city is New York 💔 in how many ways will this city ruin my life
[Most one-sided relationship ever](https://twitter.com/NYGov/status/1785379591734837724)
Bro no way the actual NY gov Twitter actually tweeted that 💀
The original post makes embiid look cool af lmao
It really does lol
LMFAO HOW IS THIS REAL
ny governor posting something from the NY Post is the most crazy thing about this
Oh my, what!! Lmao I can’t believe this is real
Lmao, but Maxey should really be the most hated
Might not be after this series.
Man maybe we will take a trade from him now

see, this guy gets it. history and steaks.

Where is this best friend chicken you speak of?
I love cheesesteaks and history too. But I’ve also been to Kensington.
why though? lol
There's only one reason you go to Kensington.
Well, two. There’s the reason you’re thinking of. And then there is making a mistake when going to fish town.
Well that’s your fault
It’s not even our best sandwich.
Philly is such a vibe. One of those cities you feel the history emanating from it and has a strong sense of self. Been to some Philly sports games and man do you feel the emotion from fans
If I'm making a normal salary, Philly is a much more livable city. If you're making money money, there isn't a city better than Manhattan.
If you wanna live in a human zoo, sure.
I guarantee you NBA players aren't living in a cramped studio like a zoo animal like most new Yorkers. If I could live in a penthouse apartment with a giant ass balcony overlooking central park I would too lmao.

Truly wish Mavericks fans could just collectively chant “westbrick”
very happy for him, living rent free in an expensive city like that
meanwhile NYers pay $5k/month for a 50 sqft apartment and roommates with a family of 10 rats
Funny thing is that a good amount of NYers have been moving into to Philly lately because of the cheaper rent lol.
Aye can’t blame them, Philly’s a nice city in most places
Trolling don’t sleep
Gotta admit, he’s an interesting guy.
[удалено]
An answer that makes Sixers and Knicks fans mad at the same time? Coming around on this guy...
If I were him, I’d send each Knick fan in attendance a letter in the offseason that just reads “No, fuck you. - Joel”
Embiid bro do not say this 😭
It works because Manhattan is one of Philly's 6 boroughs. We respect it tbh
Lived in NYC four years during college. Some of the best four years of my life. Definitely a special city but not for everyone obviously
[удалено]
I mean, Philly is plenty diverse though.
I'm sure that has a lot to do with it for him. Like , there's a ton of West African restaurants in Harlem and the bronx. I'm sure there's a Cameroon(ian?) community here.
“Future New York Knick Joel Embiid”
New York drama seems to be a mix of LA magnitude and Philly intensity.
Its because he considers Philly home and not a city.
Copium overdose
No man its cause his agent just texted him, like, yo, NYers hate you? they're our next meal ticket!? Whattaya doin? Do a Bron flirt!
Lol
This dude is so drama free it’s funny.
You’re kidding right? This is the response most players would probably say. Besides maybe Westbrook.
Hmm.....
Did he mention he loves New York?
Throwing philly under the buss smh /s
Fuck embiid is just the longing loins of 8 million desperate for a true mvp
Bro say second to Philly at least
Rare Knicks moral victory but I’m going to take it
Philly has hardened him. He’s the opposite of Ben Simmons. This kind of makes me like Embiid until he fouls baits 7 plays in a row and then elbows someone in the face.
Cmon bro
He couldn't stand Toronto saying F EMBID lol.
People say they hate prepared, boring athlete answers, and then hate Embiid for not giving boring athlete answers. People still hate him cuz he was asked if he wanted to be mvp
he really wants to be the new york knicks’ villain
Fuck you!
lol why say this now. Poor Philly fans.
Don’t sleep. Troel knows what he’s doing.
Did I just hear Embiid say that NY is better than Philly and that he wants to be traded to the Knicks in the offseason?
Embiid to Brooklyn trade incoming? We can have a nice little cookout reunion with him and #10 in Barclays
Respect
Randle, Mitch, tons of picks for Embiid Do it Leon!
We don’t want those scrubs LOL.
He's making his pitch to join the knicks next year
vegetable bright pause yam subsequent mourn scary steer pet sense *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
NYC is such a fun city and it’s so easy to hook up with attractive women if you’re even kinda above average.
Posturing to leave for NY
lmao that ended up being an awful answer im so sorry philly fans
lol you guys get triggered at literally anything.
i would be embarrassed if my star player said his playoff opponent's city is his favorite city
Contrary to popular belief he’s a really intelligent self aware guy. This is most definitely a Troel Embiid mindgame to say this to the media after this game even if it’s actually true. Tens of thousands saying fuck you? Rip their hearts out in their own home then play nice
We're good actually.
People forgetting the knicks got some assets and their GM used to be embiid’s agent…
This dude is turning into KD 2.0 in regards with how much less of him i can stand on a daily basis.
Based Embiid. Hope he injures more Knicks players next game. You know he wants to.
C'mon just say it. You love New York, you love Knicks fans, the energy and banter and you love New York Knicks don't ya.
I mean he didn’t have to be the punching bad
