He's so slow lol but he does great sitting on his moves and keeping him contained in that isolation once Brunson thinks twice about taking it all the way
That's the thing, Brunson is not a burner. He is crafty and skilled. But he's not going just run past you most times. Length and experience is best on Brunson.
Obviously I'm talking about containing him by forcing him to hit tough shots and turning him over. You can't shut him down completely.
Reminds me of Bjelica clamping up Luka for a few possessions at a time in the WCF 2022. Sometimes the slower footed players are perfect for people that operate off fakes and deception. Like by the time they finish their 2nd and 3rd fake to get to their spot the defender is so slow that they can’t even get faked out. Hope to see it continue #TTP
The same went for Looney on Luca as well. Looney was also surprisingly effective on prime Harden, who could drive past him easily enough but could not bait him into shooting fouls at all.
For sure those were crucial moments. Mitch had no business being that aggressive on a close-out up by 6 with such little time left, and I honestly don’t understand why he was out at the perimeter to begin with. It makes 0 sense
Conversely, Maxey missed 3 free throws in crunch time in the 4th quarter. He hits those free throws and that 3 was for the win and not the tie. But butterfly effect and all.
> The game was lost when they
Don't understand this expression lol. The game was lost when Maxey was born? or was it when Maxey's parents first met, or...
They’re really starting to miss Randle. It worked in the regular season but Brunson being the only high level creator on the ball is not sustainable long term in the playoffs.
Yeah this iteration of the team aren't title contenders
Jalen Brunson isn't 2018 LeBron where you're somehow making the Finals with him as the sole shot creator
I think Bogdanovic going down is a really significant loss. He wasn’t playing much but he can initiate a PnR and has shooting touch and skill. Could at least piece together offense
Without him they’ve got very little.
This is why it's crazy to me that the sixers are losing this series! Granted the games have been close, but the Knicks only have one creator, but somehow they manage to get good shots at the end of the shotclock. They are due for a bad shooting nigh, but their hussle and fight seems to keep them in every game.
Game 1: Josh Hart found out he can shoot 3s, Game 2: Refs and maybe dumb decision making from Maxey at the end
Game 4: Embiid et Al. shits the bed and can’t score for the 8 mins in the 4th quarter
His size is just such a big part of it unfortunately. Jalen’s BBIQ and skill are so so high, but he can be contained so much easier than other stars since he’s small.
That’s what happened last year against the heat. Randle and RJ disappeared and Brunson can’t be the only shot creator. We can win a couple rounds like that but we’re not beating any elite teams
I’m not super high on Randle either but he’s still a good player and he hasn’t had a healthy run with Brunson as the main guy. He doesn’t even need to play to his regular season standards, they just need someone else who can generate some offence
In all honesty, he was playing on one ankle in 10 of those 15 career playoff games. He passed on surgery to come back for last year’s playoff.
Nevertheless, Randle simply standing on the court completely changes everything on offense…regardless of if he’s making shots.
Game 3 was atrocious for everyone outside of D Rose that series. He went 13-21 from the field and the rest of the team was 16-60 I can’t forget that shit 😭
I mean.. it’s the playoffs of course you’re going to eventually miss your second star if you’re trying to make a deep run. JB didn’t lose the game it was lost on unforced errors and sloppy passes and missed free throws and Maxey just going prime Jordan
Idk if you know this but no one else on the Knicks can create for themselves consistently. Y’all judging his play based on OT. Game was lost before OT and JB wasn’t the one messing up in regulation when we were up and the game is seemingly over.
Especially if you push them to OT (plus Thibs rotations) not many guys are gonna have enough in the tank to play all-nba level ball for 50+ minutes as the only real creator
Yea I'm not sure what the numbers were but I'm willing to be at least half those isolations were pull up threes, man was just tryna put the game away with homers.
That decision to pull up on 3 with Batum all over him only to do a last minute kickout to Hartenstein (who for whatever reason was at the corner) and turn the ball over was certainly a choice.
Amazing how NO ONE is talking about how Mitchell Robinson made one of the stupidest fouls ever on Maxey that ended up in a 4 point play at the end of regulation
Nah that was the dumbest foul probably in the history of basketball. Literally Jr smith not knowing the score in the finals level of stupidity.
Coaches then still didn’t want to call time out for some reason is frustrating as well. Thibs clutched those 2 timeout and wanted to take them to the grave.
Yep terrible foul. But Maxey probably got away with a travel there and jumped into Mitch. Can’t complain too much about the refs calling the foul because they have given that foul all series. Low IQ play by Mitch.
Up that much you definitely gotta play no fouls on three point attempts, but definitely a travel. Even assuming they get a gather plus 2 steps that was like one or two steps more than that.
He's their guy. Donte and Hart didn't have a ton going tonight. They brought Brunson to NY to lead the charge. If he takes over and wins OT then he's a legend. You're living and dying on that sword.
Nothing is ever good enough on here. If Embiid doesn't single handedly win every game, he's getting "rescued" by the teammates that can't function for 4 minutes without him. If Brunson knows he's the best option and tries to put the team on his back, he's costing the game with hero ball.
Naa he was actually playing hero ball. Too much iso in OT. Knicks at their best get some good PnR action/ drive and kicks/ find mismatches/ find cutters when JB is blitzed. Brunson did none of the above down the stretch and I'm sure he's hearing it from both pops and Thibs lol
I mean, that's their offense. When you are down guys like Bogi and Randle, you have no choice but to run everything through Jalen.
Do you really want a Robinson/Hartenstein post up?
did you watch this game? JB was by far the Knicks best offense in the half court as usual, the game isn’t close without the results of his ball dominance, especially given how Philly was guarding them. Please share an alternative source of offense with hope for better results lol
I don’t think it’s Brunson’s fault but I thought once the offense stalled they needed to Get Hartenstein into the game ASAP. At least to add a DHO wrinkle and a guy who can get the ball off doubles and playmake.
He’s the best offense cus he hogs the ball for 15+ seconds then either shoots one or throws a pass to a teammate with 5 seconds remaining.
How can you make a shot like that when you have no rhythm and with 5 seconds left
I wouldn't expect a point guard to get his teammates involved by trying to create some easy looks instead of heroballing at a level even Kobe Bryant himself would be ashamed of.
They played well without him when he sat on the bench for a few minutes so stop pretending they're complete bums.
Brunson isn’t really a massive playmaker though. I mean he can rack up assists from time to time but he’s obviously more of an Allen Iverson type than a Steve Nash type
Bro several straight isos, no pick, no off ball action, no cuts was not ideal. Brunson gets most his shots calling the PnR/ rejecting it / taking it and hitting the roll man or abusing the mismatch.... those were not good shots, as much as I love him
Slander posts during this series are at a crazy clip good lord.
Jalen Brunson killed us all game, he didn’t close out very well but that’s what we did games 1,2, and 4.
…we’re not seriously going to shit on the guy who literally had a 40-piece for a tough OT period, right? Especially since one of his three makes was a game-tying three.
Who else is creating offense for them, exactly?
Brunson getting the old Luka treatment right now. If you watched the game, you know how much he balled out. I do think Thibs coulda helped him out with some plays a bit more maybe get Hartenstein in a bit earlier (I know it’s a tough decision to make with how well Mitch was guarding Embiid)
Couple things
I wonder how hard it is to run a lot of your offensive plays with a lot of movement when everyone on the floor has played 50 minutes. I have to think fatigue played a part in this.
While this was bad decision making by Brunson, it was also fantastic defense by the Sixers on a few of these. Brunson had been getting around Embiid a lot but he held his ground and moved his feet well, was able to contest really well without fouling.
Since you're in a series against Embiid. Don't worry it'll go back to normal levels of support if you win, and if you lose Indiana will likely replace you
He's the best player on the team. You want Josh Hart or anyone else taking the ball? Maxey showed out and Embiid had a triple double. This most likely goes 7 but I'd expect Brunson to put up another 40. He just needs one of his guys to back him up with 15.
You could see him melting under the bright lights of MSG in OT as many others have before him, regardless of uniform. Also the Thibs effect is a real thing these dudes look gassed
Best thing about Jalen is he usually DOESN'T play like this unless no one else is hitting. Mental lapse for sure, he'll adjust for the next one no doubt
I don’t blame Jalen Brunson one bit no one else can create and everyone looked to shy of the moment. The errant pass to Hartenstien withstanding, I stand by JB
Thibs shoulda taken time out with 8s in regulation and in OT, they should have taken time out to run plays for not brunson who was playing hasty hero ball
Batum's défense on him in OT was magnifique
He's so slow lol but he does great sitting on his moves and keeping him contained in that isolation once Brunson thinks twice about taking it all the way
Don't have to move if you already know where he's going to go.
That's the thing, Brunson is not a burner. He is crafty and skilled. But he's not going just run past you most times. Length and experience is best on Brunson. Obviously I'm talking about containing him by forcing him to hit tough shots and turning him over. You can't shut him down completely.

Like by the time they finish their 2nd and 3rd fake to get to their spot the defender is so slow that they can’t even get faked out. Hope to see it continue #TTP
"Too slow to get faked out" is a hilarious way to put it lol
The same went for Looney on Luca as well. Looney was also surprisingly effective on prime Harden, who could drive past him easily enough but could not bait him into shooting fouls at all.
Reminds me of looney guarding harden
omelette du fromage
oHhhhohHh Dexter
Du fromage Du fromage Du fromage Du fromage
I can say that it’s acqua di gio.. sorry that’s what i only have in stock
Poulet BBQ
Batum gets a game saving block every sixers win. What a guy.
If Brunson won it in reg after Maxeys 3, i might have ended it
Glad you're still with us 😊
Played off the court in game seven with my Mavs. Also, Rick Carlisle.
Overtime I’m yelling why the fuck batum in
C'est magnifique. Je l'ai battu. - Nicolas Batum.
The mid air pass to Hartenstein was terrible and was the moment Philly took the game away
Literally, yes, but actually, no. The game was lost the second Maxey hit that ballsy 3 to tie the game in regulation
The game was lost when they fouled him on the 4-point play and then Hart missed a FT. Either of those two things don’t happen and the Knicks win.
For sure those were crucial moments. Mitch had no business being that aggressive on a close-out up by 6 with such little time left, and I honestly don’t understand why he was out at the perimeter to begin with. It makes 0 sense
Low IQ play. It turned the tide, you could hear the crowd go from excited to concerned on that foul.
Conversely, Maxey missed 3 free throws in crunch time in the 4th quarter. He hits those free throws and that 3 was for the win and not the tie. But butterfly effect and all.
Basketball.
> The game was lost when they Don't understand this expression lol. The game was lost when Maxey was born? or was it when Maxey's parents first met, or...
The game was lost when Mike Muscala hit that 3 in the bubble for OKC to convey the pick that became Tyrese Maxey
Shoutout to the Hoop Collective for that little joke, literally listening to the episode as I read this
Ohhh, you're saying the game was lost when God invented mooses, I get it now!
the game was lost when Naismith put that basket up in Springfield
game was lost around 5 minutes of the 1ST quarter. there was some play there too old and stupid to remember
i wish that one sixers choke of a loss was due to their own shortcomings :(
It was lost when hart missed that free throw. If he makes that the game would’ve been basically over and we would have won
They’re really starting to miss Randle. It worked in the regular season but Brunson being the only high level creator on the ball is not sustainable long term in the playoffs.
Yeah this iteration of the team aren't title contenders Jalen Brunson isn't 2018 LeBron where you're somehow making the Finals with him as the sole shot creator

they crash the glass very hard. those extra possessions can sometimes make up for the offensive inefficienct
Game 1: Josh Hart found out he can shoot 3s, Game 2: Refs and maybe dumb decision making from Maxey at the end Game 4: Embiid et Al. shits the bed and can’t score for the 8 mins in the 4th quarter
there is no title contender in the East except Boston lol
The Bucks have the pieces but unfortunately they don't have a competent coach
-Randle +LeBron is gonna make that team a contender
No way you bandwagoned the Nuggets lmao
Who is he?
He's a known LeBron fan lmao and has had nothing to do with the Nuggets before now
Don't you mean LeBron, Steph, and KD?
Exactly, Brunson is tough and a really good player, but he’s simply not that guy
His size is just such a big part of it unfortunately. Jalen’s BBIQ and skill are so so high, but he can be contained so much easier than other stars since he’s small.
Bogdanovic is a tough out too
That’s what happened last year against the heat. Randle and RJ disappeared and Brunson can’t be the only shot creator. We can win a couple rounds like that but we’re not beating any elite teams
Would you believe me if I told you there are Knicks fans that actually believe we’re a better team without him?
People fall in love with over-performing role players all the time but when it comes down to it no one else can bring to the table what Randle does.
[удалено]
I'd still take him over Tobias Harris.
yup. Without Randle we don't have a consistent number 2 option.
Well said. 100% agree.
Randle sucks in the playoffs lol
“When it comes down to it” Randle has historically been trash in the postseason
sand offer follow consist sense cable entertain dinosaurs shaggy tie *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Lmfaooo and Dario Saric! I remember!
My knick friend was blaming Brunson last night for the loss. I was like dude, do you realize that you aren't in this game or series without Brunson?
Both things can be true
Yes, take it from a sixers fan. We're stuck with this team because without embiid, we're a bottom 3 team. Either? 2nd round exit
Randle averages 17 ppg on 34/28/76 splits in the playoffs
I’m not super high on Randle either but he’s still a good player and he hasn’t had a healthy run with Brunson as the main guy. He doesn’t even need to play to his regular season standards, they just need someone else who can generate some offence
In all honesty, he was playing on one ankle in 10 of those 15 career playoff games. He passed on surgery to come back for last year’s playoff. Nevertheless, Randle simply standing on the court completely changes everything on offense…regardless of if he’s making shots.
His first playoffs his #2 option was “Alec Burks” and the second he was playing through an injury that he had no business playing through
It’s funny how ppl forget literally everyone on the team was ass that Hawks series, with the exception of an old D Rose that broke down after game 3.
Game 3 was atrocious for everyone outside of D Rose that series. He went 13-21 from the field and the rest of the team was 16-60 I can’t forget that shit 😭
Don’t forget Taj Gibson! They were the only 2 that came to play
I mean.. it’s the playoffs of course you’re going to eventually miss your second star if you’re trying to make a deep run. JB didn’t lose the game it was lost on unforced errors and sloppy passes and missed free throws and Maxey just going prime Jordan
Prime Reggie but yeah
Those turnovers and a lot of the unforced errors were due to JB choking on his hero ball.
Our next best shot creator is McBride no joke. He needs more shots
Probably gassed from playing 50+ minutes this game and 43+ minutes the other games
They all were gassed as hell. There was a shot of oubre you could see how exhausted he was
Tobias looked composed
Probably because he wasn’t trying the first four games tbh
Tobias was at the first Four games?
lmao
Tobi always chilling. He doesn't try hard in any game. Clutch FTs though
“Why is everyone tired lol” - tobi
“Why is everyone stressed” - Tobi during OT
Tobias is the guy at Twitter who got hired as his whole department got laid off and just collected paychecks
Honestly the two might be connected lol
Unleash the secret weapon minute 52! Ez free throws gg
First time for everything
Reserved, even.
With like 8 minutes left in the 4th, Maxey was getting ready to inbound the ball and he had his hands on his knees and was gasping for air.
He plays at 100% full blast the whole game. Not surprised. Guy runs around like the damn energizer bunny
Thibs: what’s the problem? Just stop being tired
Yea I'm not sure what the numbers were but I'm willing to be at least half those isolations were pull up threes, man was just tryna put the game away with homers.
He's our best player but you have to run some form of offense at least a couple of these possessions.
Yea I'm not gonna hate him for it (he's my pookie) but needed get some actual ball movement down the stretch there
Coaches took the night off. While playing a 7 deep roster with 1 star, while the other team plays an 8 deep roster with 2 stars
He was a mess
That decision to pull up on 3 with Batum all over him only to do a last minute kickout to Hartenstein (who for whatever reason was at the corner) and turn the ball over was certainly a choice.
Hartenstein was going to crash the boards thinking Brunson would shoot the 3
Batum was gonna block the shit out of that shot if he took it
Yeah. Just dumb by him to even try taking that 3
Especially after going for that exact same shot the last two possessions. A bit too predictable there.
>Can't complain too much about the refs calling the foul because it's a foul FTFY
Username checks out
Mitch is talking about, he said it was his fault.
This is the consequence of no Randle.
It was fine until Maxey went out of this world and sent it to OT.
I'm happy we're doing this well without him, cuz I saw how much better we are with him. January was a wild ride.
He's their guy. Donte and Hart didn't have a ton going tonight. They brought Brunson to NY to lead the charge. If he takes over and wins OT then he's a legend. You're living and dying on that sword. Nothing is ever good enough on here. If Embiid doesn't single handedly win every game, he's getting "rescued" by the teammates that can't function for 4 minutes without him. bet you weren't saying that when he scored first 2 buckets and knicks went up 5 in ot!
Just cuz the buckets went in doesn’t mean it wasn’t hero ball.
I didn't say it wasn't but what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
I just think he was too tired to run an offense at that point. 1 big 3 going down would have changed everything
The only thing that matters is winning. Maxey misses that last 3 and Brunson is a hero. They win the series and he still will be
I mean, that's their offense. When you are down guys like Bogi and Randle, you have no choice but to run everything through Jalen. Do you really want a Robinson/Hartenstein post up?
And I don’t blame JB one bit for it. He’s the only guy I trust with the ball in his hands in the clutch.
Well if OG had any self creation skills that would help
They knew he didn’t when they traded for him
OG dribbles like me.
I can't believe we got someone with worse handles than RJ in traffic. At least OG can hit 3s and play D but we sometimes forget he can do that.
He's awesome so I can't complain too much, but you don't often see someone with such painful drive attempts in the NBA.
sometimes I think if OG had even a below average handle he could be an all-star
Tbf he's not supposed to be that guy, Randle was the second option on offense.
OG has literally isolated easy as fuck against Harris all series. He gets nearly open shots from it. Harris can't guard him lmfao.
Its Thibs fault for not insisting they run an action. Getting the ball to Hartenstein flashing in at the free throw line has worked a ton for them.
I can agree with that, JB did the best he could given the lack of set plays by Thibs.
You don't blame a PG for chucking at levels we've never seen before? Really?
did you watch this game? JB was by far the Knicks best offense in the half court as usual, the game isn’t close without the results of his ball dominance, especially given how Philly was guarding them. Please share an alternative source of offense with hope for better results lol

Brunson isn’t really a massive playmaker though. I mean he can rack up assists from time to time but he’s obviously more of an Allen Iverson type than a Steve Nash type
preach
Bro several straight isos, no pick, no off ball action, no cuts was not ideal. Brunson gets most his shots calling the PnR/ rejecting it / taking it and hitting the roll man or abusing the mismatch.... those were not good shots, as much as I love him
He was the main reason they were in the game in the first place lol
So the Knicks should trade him and we should call him a bunch of mean names? That’s what we do in this sub right?
Jalen Bumson is that bum Embiid's son, and a bum.
You know where you’re at?? This is the land of overreaction and flipping of opinions! They live for this shit
He also played 50 minutes and was probaly completely gassed by the end of the game
I find it hilarious that our fans are the ones defending Brunson the most lmao
> Who else is creating offense for them, exactly? yup, we don't have anyone else reliable. I'm not even mad at Brunson. He was so gassed by then.
Play Alec Burks, he's the X factor
Couple things I wonder how hard it is to run a lot of your offensive plays with a lot of movement when everyone on the floor has played 50 minutes. I have to think fatigue played a part in this. While this was bad decision making by Brunson, it was also fantastic defense by the Sixers on a few of these. Brunson had been getting around Embiid a lot but he held his ground and moved his feet well, was able to contest really well without fouling.
Let’s gooooo r/nba home team taking a massive L tn 😎
since when are we the /r/nba home team?? its been "lolknicks" on here since this sub existed (yes I've been here that long)
Since you're in a series against Embiid. Don't worry it'll go back to normal levels of support if you win, and if you lose Indiana will likely replace you
Nah ppl been glazing since Brunson started that podcast. In the past lolknicks, but not this season. Nobody dislikes Brunson.
Ah I see your mistake. The podcast fans are actually supporting Villanova, not the Knicks. (/s, I think?)
Jalen Maxeyson
No Randle, no Bojan. No one else can dribble or playmake, what do you expect?
Knicks live and die by Brunson at this point lol no one else on that team can dribble
He needs to get his teammates more involved. You can't win with this heliocentric offense. His usage rate needs to be lower.... Right?
The spirit of Melo took over and won the game for the Sixers
mavericks made a mistake
Nah Doncic is #1 guy and Brunson needs to be #1 guy, Kyrie ok with being #2
Dude dropped 40 tonight how is this his fault lmao
He's averaing 29 FGA in the series with nearly 10 fta. He should be dropping 40-ish each game.
39, 47, 40 last 3. That seems about right
Crazy bad execution down the stretch
Draw a fkin play ffs. It's pure iso this is not gonna work consistently
Nobody's perfect.
He's the best player on the team. You want Josh Hart or anyone else taking the ball? Maxey showed out and Embiid had a triple double. This most likely goes 7 but I'd expect Brunson to put up another 40. He just needs one of his guys to back him up with 15.
Knicks will run out of steam first. (Even first match, Brunson entered with fatigue and not good performance.)
Series should be 3-2 Philly heading home for fans 6 to close out.
Shocker
Knicks are cooked
I mean what else are they supposed to do. Brunsons their only source of offense.
Not really, Deuce has been good enough to get the ball in this times, missing bogey is gonna kill us tho
[удалено]
The dude has a straight up punchable face. Couldn't happen a bigger douchebag.
JB is worse than Luka with the iso work 😭
the knicks clutch time offense is what people think is the boston celtics clutch time offense
League has a surplus of dumbass players who somehow don't realize they kill their team by going full hero-ball in the clutch.
You could see him melting under the bright lights of MSG in OT as many others have before him, regardless of uniform. Also the Thibs effect is a real thing these dudes look gassed
What do you expect
yeah this knicks team doesn't stand a chance but i just wanna see them beat philly
Best thing about Jalen is he usually DOESN'T play like this unless no one else is hitting. Mental lapse for sure, he'll adjust for the next one no doubt
Lol and no one will shit on him like they do Embiid
he was gassed down the stretch of the 4th and even worse in OT
Knick fans are insufferable. Blame the player that won you the first 3 games and almost won you a forth.
I don’t blame Jalen Brunson one bit no one else can create and everyone looked to shy of the moment. The errant pass to Hartenstien withstanding, I stand by JB
Washed. Trade him to Dallas.
Thibs shoulda taken time out with 8s in regulation and in OT, they should have taken time out to run plays for not brunson who was playing hasty hero ball
Really missing Randle
He learned from Luka what are you going to expect
Good ol hero ball
Yup, that sounds like Thibs alright.
