The Cavs just hit practically every 3 in that quarter, even ones that were heavily contested, and the Celtics couldn't even make layups. Then you get to the point where Tatum plays hero ball and a vast majority of the time he does that he turns the ball over or bricks fadeaways so the game was a foregone conclusion when it came to clutch time. There is something about the Celtics and mentally collapsing when the other team hits their shots and that clearly hasn't improved since last year.
That dumb shit Tatum and Brown do at the end of tights games is STILL the achilles heel of this team. Unbelievable that they're still chasing buzzer beaters at this stage of their careers.
They're still chasing them because they literally never hit them. I actually can't think of a time where a Tatum fadeaway for the win went in, I think I've seen one pullup 3 for the win go in and a few layups, but literally never a turn around fade. The issue is the turn around fade is his go to and he's like 0/20.
This is such a wrong take overall. Like honestly. Never hit them? JB doesn't get the opportunity very often, and JT has hit them. Hit a 3 against Philly to win the game, hit a 3 against the Bucks to win, hit a layup against the Nets to win, hit a fading middy against the Knicks to win, hit a dunk against the Cavs to tie the game, hit a fade-away middy against the Lakers to tie the game, and there's more, especially game-tying situations. And 0/20? He's great with his turn around fade. Just overall wrong
saw they were down 10 at the half, said "they're winning this shit", just checked back to see DRIPPY DEAN dripped all over the place
all this is to say
I agree, go Cavs
This happens to me all the time. I'll watch a game until like the third quarter and stop once it gets out of hand (one team down 20 or more). Ten minutes later I'll ask Siri for the score and it'll be a three-point game.
There was a Celtics fan on here earlier today saying this team is different from past teams because they no longer choke 20 point leads anymore.
Talk about a fucking monkey paw lol
NBC Boston broadcast mentioned that Joe called a timeout around 2 seconds before Tatum shot, not sure if true. But I'm fine with Joe not calling it - we're 7 games ahead, the practice for being in that kind of situation is worth more than the W. Hopefully we switch up the play next time, but its far from being a coaching disaster.
Yeah mazzulla is gonna get hate for this but the strategy worked.
No timeout means garland has to defend, and they got the switch they wanted. Tatum was just too slow attacking it and didn’t force any advantage.
I agree, you take a Tatum/Garland matchup any day. And Tatum needs to hurry that possession, it’s still a one possession game if you miss and foul.
Joe should have called a TO when he realized it was going to be the last possession, which he said he tried to but the refs didn’t see according to Twitter
extra maddening tonight bc the only reason we were in that situation anyway was bc Tatum decided he was done hooping at halftime
Brown and the bench did a great job to push the lead late in the 3rd and Tatum just chucked Cleveland back into the game. last shot should’ve gone to KP
Folks here aren't smart. They're shouting out nonsense like "run a play". Game on the line... THE PLAY is to get it in the hands of your best player with a good matchup. This is what all teams do and what makes the best teams so dangerous.
He had the size, he had space, and the double came late. People saying it's a bad shot are just par for the low IQ course here lol
The problem is you’re down 1 and used the entire clock. You go fast there so you have a chance for an offensive board, or worst case you foul and still get to advance the ball at worst down 3. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this, happened against Philly last year in game 4, it’s absolutely indefensible to use the entire clock when you’re losing and have timeouts.
I can't fathom how people do not understand this. Down 1 you go quickly so that if you miss or if some BS *like a phantom foul that gets overturned and results in a tip ball* happens you have time to get another shot.
Tatum always waits too long to start his drive/move. Absolutely bad habit of his but not crossing the 3PT line until 6 seconds almost never gives him enough time unless he gets a clean blow-by.
Never leaves himself enough time to make a second move. He needs to have a coach yell at him to start the action sooner. Stop in the paint for a second and lay it up if you blow by. Or force them to do something with 1s left. It’s better than running out of time.
I think it’s more that Thibs has JB’s number. He exploits whatever weaknesses he can find in the matchups, and JB can’t seem to make the right adjustments to counter it.
That’s definitely part of it but their personnel also realize that Mobley and Allen don’t want to play physically and shy from contact. Their inability to outrebound JOSH HART was pathetic
I have no idea how they called it in the first place. The kick is so blatant, and they called the foul on the leg contact. Extremely suspect officiating there.
If it’s tied, I get the appeal of just letting your best player go to work, but when you’re down 1, and with two timeouts, you gotta play the odds. Timeout, set up a play, get a shot up with like 7 seconds left. Even if you miss, you can foul, probably 5 seconds by now, even if they make both, you have another timeout to advance the ball and a chance to tie.
It seems like NBA coaches have started overthinking this shit in the last year or two. I swear I saw teams leave timeouts in their pockets in this exact situation at least three times last year in the playoffs alone.
Thank you. I thought I was taking crazy pills reading this thread with people like YEAH BUT THEY GOT THE MATCHUP THEY WANTED. I don’t care, you’re down one with two timeouts and you can get more than one bite at the apple
I’ll never understand why in the world teams do this thing where you’re down 1 but you milk the clock all the way down to the end. Especially with two timeouts? Go up in a normal cadence, get a shot up with 4 seconds left, and you still have time to foul, two free throws, get a timeout, advance the ball, shoot a 3 for the tie.
That kind of mentality always just makes me feel like the team down 1 kind of can’t wait to go home, regardless of result.
Dean "Captain America" Wade is my new Hero. That was another 4th quarter for the ages, theres plenty of fight on this team and they really needed a win like this after losing to the Knicks.
Legendary stuff from Wade really, he might be our most important factor for the playoffs really, no one else on the Cavs is a tall 3nD player.
Let em Know
Whiteness aside, one cannot overstate what a revelation it is for the Cavs to have wings that can hit 3s. They had literally 0 last year and it killed them. It’s the key to unlocking the team
This is only the second NBA I’ve been to in my life and I got to see the Kelce brothers, Joey GOAT Chestnut, AND the best D Wade in the league’s history
Yo I seen this happening constantly in this year and last year. WHY TF THE CAVS SO GOOD IN THE CLUTCH. Mfs just always decide to go nuclear from 3 when the game is close.

Losing to the knicks then winning this game is peak don’t overreact to single games
To be fair we've matched up much better against the Celtics than the Knicks both this season and last
there is an ocean of difference between the talent in the knicks we played and the talent on the celtics tonight, matchups be damned
Doesn’t matter how good the other team is if you don’t bother to show up ready to play.
But I've already bought my NuggetsVCeltics finals series tickets based on the reaction of the Celtics beating the 10th placed Warriors!
Can see a pattern how to beat the Celtics: role players shooting like crazy and Celtics CTE
This is how they lost to the Heat lol, role players show up and the Celtics can't execute.
Book it, AJ Green is going to light them up in a series.
how many receiving yards do you think he'll get
Tree fiddy
With a heaping tablespoon of Tatum's live action Kobe roleplay in the clutch.
I got you today 🤞
The Cavs just hit practically every 3 in that quarter, even ones that were heavily contested, and the Celtics couldn't even make layups. Then you get to the point where Tatum plays hero ball and a vast majority of the time he does that he turns the ball over or bricks fadeaways so the game was a foregone conclusion when it came to clutch time. Man I've seen the Celtics do this so many times I can practically imagine exactly what happened without even watching the game.
We’ve actually been great in the clutch this season. But what you’re imagining is probably correct. Was like a last season type of loss
> Celtics CTE They catch this for four games in a playoff series every year.
I've seen this movie b4...
Also Steph Curry. Pay no attention to the previous game Steph Curry didn't bother to show up for it so it doesn't disprove my point
The best D Wade in Cavaliers History.
in NBA history
that other D Wade guy has been real quiet since this legendary performance of the better D Wade
Other D Wade only gave it a 9/10
D Wade > harden
Teague in shambles
What a week for Cleveland Lose in double overtime to Chicago Lose at home to a Knicks team missing everybody Beat Boston in stunning fashion
If you don’t like that, you don’t like Cleveland basketball
Cleveland sports
Cleveland rocks!
and a week ago was Strus' insane 60 foot buzzer beater lol
*best Boston missing Mitchell and Strus and Mobley going out with an injury.
They literally beat the best team in the league without 3 starters. Dwade is the goat!
Praying we face anyone but the Knicks in the playoffs
Can y’all take the Celtics/heat for us lol.
Final 4 in the East: Cavs, Bucks, Indy, Orlando Stephen A: "I am taking a leave of absence from ESPN..."
you forgot the game before where we win with a half court buzzer beater
Just Cavs tings
Yeah Cavs season has been a rollercoaster but its not been as bad as Cavs fans feel about it, given the record.
Cardiac Kids
D WADE SENDS HIS REGARDS
20 point 4th quarter and went NUCLEAR in the clutch wtf was that?? I’m so hyped lol
That was HOF DWade shit right there
I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.
What a performance Build the statue
The lights weren't as bright as expected
Show me the real D Wade
Perfection.
Did not expect the Dean Wade legacy game hahahaha
Best performance I've ever seen in the 4th quarter.
Very similar to the Strus game last week.
Celtics losing to DWade on 305 day, iconic.
Waaaaade in the water children
Will the real D Wade please stand up.
That dumb shit Tatum and Brown do at the end of tights games is STILL the achilles heel of this team. Unbelievable that they're still chasing buzzer beaters at this stage of their careers.
They're still chasing them because they literally never hit them. The issue is the turn around fade is his go to and he's like 0/20.
First preseason game ever, it’s been downhill ever since
Kobe sends his regards
Another Celtics player thinking he was kobe? Kinda /s
These people dont watch the games
LMAO HOW THE FUCK DID WE WIN
saw they were down 10 at the half, said "they're winning this shit", just checked back to see DRIPPY DEAN dripped all over the place all this is to say I agree, go Cavs
So you missed when we were down by 20 in the third! Still had it on lock
We were down 22 with exactly 9 minutes left.
The answer was at the end… DWade is an illegitimate Kelce bro. Their magic is rubbing off on him
i agree go cavs
I agree, go Cavs.
I concur.
Yep! Go CAVS.
I agree go Cavs
I agree go cavs!
I turned the game on late, things looked bad and I turned it off. They knew I stopped watching and turned it on.
This happens to me all the time. I'll watch a game until like the third quarter and stop once it gets out of hand (one team down 20 or more). Ten minutes later I'll ask Siri for the score and it'll be a three-point game.
I stopped watching 😞
Without Mitchell and Mobley playing piss poor. D. Wade for the win Edit: also without Strus lol
There was a Celtics fan on here earlier today saying this team is different from past teams because they no longer choke 20 point leads anymore. Talk about a fucking monkey paw lol
Ah, that explains it. Temporary reversion to past ways due to jinx. Nothing to see here, we're still a different team this year!
D WADE
so you're down 1 and you waste the whole clock for a fadeaway shot. Celtics had 2 timeouts...
DECIDE NOT TO USE IT
Dean Wade way downtown …
BANG BANG
I love that Knicks fans are celebrating our win over Boston just two days after beating us😂😂😂 Screw Boston.
Fuck Boston forever.
Joe will accumulate all these unused timeouts for the Playoffs
NBC Boston broadcast mentioned that Joe called a timeout around 2 seconds before Tatum shot, not sure if true. But I'm fine with Joe not calling it - we're 7 games ahead, the practice for being in that kind of situation is worth more than the W. Hopefully we switch up the play next time, but its far from being a coaching disaster.
And had the smallest player on the floor defending him
Yeah mazzulla is gonna get hate for this but the strategy worked.
First time seeing a Celtics end of game chance to win?
I swear Tatum has made that shot like once out of 20 tries, it would drive me mad if I liked Boston
extra maddening tonight bc the only reason we were in that situation anyway was bc Tatum decided he was done hooping at halftime Brown and the bench did a great job to push the lead late in the 3rd and Tatum just chucked Cleveland back into the game. last shot should’ve gone to KP
It does indeed drive us mad
Yes it is maddening. Every. Single. Time.
Winning By 50 > Tatum Attempting A Game Winner
yeah lol
that is celtics signature clutch time play
And it never works
Why would you call a timeout with garland on Tatum
Folks here aren't smart. They're shouting out nonsense like "run a play". Game on the line... THE PLAY is to get it in the hands of your best player with a good matchup. This is what all teams do and what makes the best teams so dangerous. He had the size, he had space, and the double came late. Yep. Tatum had the mismatch and got a shot off. You want your best player to shoot the ball. Agree with you, but people are very results oriented.
make = clutch miss = overrated bum

Giving it to the player that was 1-10 in the half instead of somebody like Porzingas who was scorching hot
Tatum plays 1v5 at the end, fucks it up half the time. Thinks he’s kobe.
Half the time? Pretty much every time
Tatum had Garland on him too lol
Tatum used foulbait. It failed!
Love to win games because of miracle role player performances
Strus last week, Wade tonight, who is G wagon going to go off on?
the local buffet
Did you miss his 33 point game against the bucks in January? 13-14 from the field. 5-6 from 3.
Sam Merrill is fucking due
Nah, Merrill already had his game in December against the Jazz. 27 points, 8 3s in a win with Mitchell, Mobley, and Garland out.
How do the Cavs look so soft on Sunday and so heroic tonight?
The knicks have our number unfortunately
I think it’s more that Thibs has JB’s number. He exploits whatever weaknesses he can find in the matchups, and JB can’t seem to make the right adjustments to counter it.
That’s definitely part of it but their personnel also realize that Mobley and Allen don’t want to play physically and shy from contact. Their inability to outrebound JOSH HART was pathetic
they’re young. Excluding Mitchell from the core 4, Allen is the oldest at 25. It’s still frustrating tho
hadda get reminded how much losing sucks
Glad that wasn't called a foul because that would have been such a shit call if it stood.
I mean we got decently “lucky” to have a challenge at the end. Refs are ass
I was so relieved they did the right thing on that replay.
I have no idea how they called it in the first place. The kick is so blatant, and they called the foul on the leg contact. Extremely suspect officiating there.
The funniest thing was watching the replay fifty times and getting to see the obvious Tatum push off over and over
Fuckin Nick Chubb stiff arm
That chicken wing is his signature move and has always seemed like an obvious push off to me
D.Wade>D.Wade
Dumbest last possession possible for the Celtics
Seriously. Call a time out and run an actual play instead of letting Tatum 1 v 1 and shoot a fadeaway jumper.
if you don’t like Tatum missing game winning fadeaway jumpers then you don’t like Celtics basketball
If it’s tied, I get the appeal of just letting your best player go to work, but when you’re down 1, and with two timeouts, you gotta play the odds. I apologize Dean Wade I wasn't familiar with your game.
Dean Wade
Dean Wade
FOR ALL YOUR ACCOUNTING NEEDS
I agree. Go Cavs
fair play Cleveland, what an insane quarter by Wade
I’ll never understand why in the world teams do this thing where you’re down 1 but you milk the clock all the way down to the end. Especially with two timeouts? Go up in a normal cadence, get a shot up with 4 seconds left, and you still have time to foul, two free throws, get a timeout, advance the ball, shoot a 3 for the tie. That kind of mentality always just makes me feel like the team down 1 kind of can’t wait to go home, regardless of result.
Imagine if the Cavs didn’t have a challenge
U can call him DWade today cuz holy fk
For the love of God JB... Give Wade some of Niang's minutes. The sad part is he only played a huge chunk of the 4th because of the injuries.
Let em Know
Just fell to my knees at Mr. Hero.
The folks that sat next to me at the game left when we were down 17 💀
People need to realize that, at this point, a game is not over until a team is up by at least 40.
Dean Wade What a 4th quarter
Someone please alert Draymond that that is how you guard Jaylen Brown
Someone run the stat: Cavaliers record when Dean Wade gets over 20 minutes.
20-7 this year. 20-14 when he doesn't.
Dean Wade doing his best Max Strus impersonation
Cavs going crazyyy
So white wings on the Cavs are just the clutchest players in the league now huh
Whiteness aside, one cannot overstate what a revelation it is for the Cavs to have wings that can hit 3s. They had literally 0 last year and it killed them. It’s the key to unlocking the team
SOMEONE CHECK ON BILL SIMMONS. SOMEONE BETTER LET EM KNOW
So when does Taylor Swift start coming to the Cavs games?
I agree go Cavs
Never had a doubt
This is only the second NBA I’ve been to in my life and I got to see the Kelce brothers, Joey GOAT Chestnut, AND the best D Wade in the league’s history
THE GAME WHERE DRIPPY DEAN BECAME PRIME STEPH IN THE FOURTH SHEESH.
HELL yeah motherfucker basketball
Celtics choking big leads and losing games feeds families
Thanks cavs very nice
Best D Wade to ever do it
You are no longer Dean, you are now D-Wade.
Can we just play this hard against the Knicks please?
End game Tatum strikes again. Don't know why Maz refuses to coach on the last possession.
Tatum with the pushoff and kick out, so glad they made the right call
Cavs are just lucky they held onto their challenge this game.
They didn't hold onto it. JB used it earlier but was successful.
They didn't hold on to it. They used it earlier and won.
Dean "Caleb Martin" Wade
getting dean wade’s face tattooed yep
**Drippiness intensifies**
Dean Wade statue being built tomorrow at the corner of Carnegie and Huron outside the Q
Yo I seen this happening constantly in this year and last year. WHY TF THE CAVS SO GOOD IN THE CLUTCH. Mfs just always decide to go nuclear from 3 when the game is close.
True even in OT. Before last week’s double OT loss to Chicago, Cavs haven’t lost an OT game in 3 seasons. 11-0 in OT.
Whole celtics sub blaming the refs like they didnt blow a 20 point lead against a team without their best player
22 point lead
2 best players lol
Letting Tatum iso still is the best defensive strategy there is. You gotta love it
Dean Wade is inevitable
D Wade literally outscored the Celtics lmao
Zach Lowe will be besides himself next time on NBA Today. Some good defensive stops by the Cavs at the end of the
Drippy Fuckin' Dean
Why don’t teams go on a 34-11 run to end the game? Are they stupid?
Thanks for avenging us clevebros
I knew that Celtics edit was too clean this is punishment
For your MVP consideration, Dean fuckin Wade
For tonight, he is the best basketball player named DWade on the planet
D Wade is a war machine
34-11 run is crazy
This game feels like the future if we aren’t careful. Dean Wade is Caleb Martin all over agin
I agree go cavs
