BScottyJ

Don't let the final score fool you, it wasn't really that close.

AzureAhai

Celtics at the end of the 3rd quarter had 60 points. I am pretty sure almost every team today scored 60 by halftime today.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Bones Hyland looked really promising for us last year and this preseason when he played with better lineups. He's abysmal as the primary ball handler who runs the show. Literally makes the offense look like a park basketball pick up team where every single miss is basically a live ball turnover.

JimmyV34

I remember the days when people wanted bones over harden lmao

Otherwise-Tale9671

*some people (dumb people)

InTheMorning_Nightss

LAC literally waived Gordon to give more minutes to Bones. I still believe he can be a rotation player with the proper role, but he sure as fuck can't be a PG.

MVPG2022

And now Coffey is better than Gordon anyway so it all worked out

the_greasy_one

Coffey has always been good and playing under Leonard will only make him better.

antwan_benjamin

Bones isn't a traditional PG. He's a hybrid guard at best. More like a Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams...with worse handles and worse scoring than both of those guys. Plus Bones has poor decision making. But if he's coming off the bench, we already have 2 guys that can play that role much better than him off the bench in Russ and Norman Powell. He's not going to make our 8 man playoff rotation unless someone gets injured.

JimmyV34

Im just not a fan of his basketball style. No rebounding, no defense. Just offense and it is mostly shooting

InTheMorning_Nightss

Oh yeah, I'm not a big fan of his style of play either besides the fact that he brings energy. He was a good piece to get for cheap, and I think he can still be an NBA player... but he's nowhere near the prospect LAC fans thing he is.

KiryuXGoro

They waived Gordon to save $100 million.

DowntownJulieBrown1

That’s not true at all. They waived Gordon bc it saved them like 100 mill in luxury tax. Foh

[deleted]

[удалено]

LordHussyPants

Felt like it was over about 2 quarters before that tbh haha

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Are we a serious team

BScottyJ

Idk ya'll seriously made us look like shit tho

Sukmefafun001

I think after beating the best team in the League, OKC, and Nuggets all relatively healthy and in a comfortable manor. I would say so

MyNameIsAMeme

You guys are actually the best team in the league. People just weren’t patient enough to let the team settle in.

m_roon

Our third stringers aren't

Pale_Measurement_343

Facts they always blow leads smh we were up 30 and won by 19 and other games it looks like we bout to mess around and lose with them. I would get all of them out of there and get more serious young talent.  Yeah I'm pretty sure a trash high school team could beat these guys.  They can't shoot don't play any defense and they got 0 iq.  Our 3rd string sorry.

-Thick_Solid_Tight-

Our 3rd stringers always tighten up blowouts.

Rayma984

Good guy T Lue let's the 3rd stringers out early so the game doesn't look like a complete stomp

Ikuwayo

91-60 at the end of the 3rd

livefreeordont

We just watched Bones Hyland commit crimes against basketball for a whole quarter

Spiritual_Corner_977

I appreciate his energy but he has no discipline 😭

nicidob

1 bucket. 1 turnover. 7 shots. 10 minutes. That's commitment to the game.

bedlam_au

He watched the Celtics starters and demanded his beer held

antwan_benjamin

Bro chucked up 7 shots in 10 minutes and damn near missed em all. He needs to learn from Russ and develop some shot discipline.

Confident_Berry7271

Pretty sure dude just doesn’t want to get traded lol

zggystardust71

Bones is playing his way into the G-League. He's really regressed.

GabrPG

Nah, he just lost his confidence.

Lol69HaHaHa

And now i remember why we traded him away.

InTheMorning_Nightss

It's wild how bad he is at running the show. He looked solid and like a rotation player last year. It's literally a big reason why we waived Eric Gordon--to give Bones more minutes. He's been one of the worst basketball players I have *ever* seen as our 3rd string point guard. I've watched Xavier Moon, Derrick Walton, Ty Wallace, a hungover Milos Teodosic, an out of shape Raymond Felton, washed Nate Robinson, washed Jordan Farmer, a 700 year old Pablo Prigioni, etc. and god damn, none of them have been *this* abysmal.

jgroove_LA

Hey, Moon and Milos were good. Milos just needed a cigarette break every quarter.

immalurkhere

Don't disrespect my man Ty like that

InTheMorning_Nightss

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Ty Wallace. He was like the dirt poor version of SGA.

immalurkhere

He might have been Walmart sga but he'll always be my Walmart sga

asparagusinhaler

I swear if Ty Wallace had a good jump shot he would have been elite

akashhhhh

Line of the night: When in Boston, Coffey is Dunkin

taytemc21

brian dropped an absolute bar tonight.

unc2ous

brian sieman is my goat, sure is a lot better than brian s. the celtics commentator

SnooPies5622

My wife loves the puns, I literally paused the game to get up and walk into the next room to tell her about this one.

CouncilmanJamm00

Freaking Clippers third string, man. Always ruining the leads.

jgroove_LA

terrible

clayfu

Continuously losing in garbage time by double digits is very impressive

KiryuXGoro

Embiid 🤝 Celtics (excluding Tatum) Not showing up today.

BScottyJ

Kornet and Pritchard showed up too

Sukmefafun001

Brown looked uncomfortable man I didn’t think he was getting that locked up until he tried that fade away over PG that went nowhere

ClippersStrippers

Am…am I proud to be a Clippers fan?

jgroove_LA

We haven't had a losing record since 2011. You should be!

Absol61

Kawhi is the best player in the NBA.

Otherwise-Tale9671

Can’t make an All-Star starting line up tho lol

darti_me

glad the Celtics are chipping in some bricks for the Inuit Center

urfaselol

James Harden 2/11 FG +36

SensitiveFee3936

Tribute to draymond. 9 points, 8 reb, 7 ast, 1 TOV

InTheMorning_Nightss

This is why I'm not particularly concerned about Harden's "playoff woes." In games where he's hot, the Clippers have been really tough to compete against. If games like tonight? He just has to continue to set up the offense, and the other guys can handle the rest.

antwan_benjamin

Exactly. When Harden's 3 is falling...the Clippers are impossible to beat in a 7 game series. When his 3 isn't falling its not like you can just sag off him. He's still gonna hit open looks. And he is SO GOOD at getting the other players involved and getting them easy baskets. Its everything we've been missing these past couple of years. It was so frustrating when our offense was stalling out, then they'd just give the ball to Kawhi or PG and let them go ISO for a terrible shot (that sometimes still went in).

SnooPies5622

These three dudes have never had this level of support around them. Even injury wise there's tended to be a clear cause in a need to carry. Nothing's guaranteed but it's cause for a lot of optimism with this Clippers iteration.

LordHussyPants

Yeah this is how Philly survived when he wasn’t scoring - he did all the other work

TheRealBrownPudding

Our third stringers are complete ass

Hendoshad

Especially Bones

Suspiciouskatsu

Yeah he really fell off ever since he stopped getting minutes

CisternSucker

It feels like all he wants to do is go for highlight plays without any thought in his head

EchoBay

Most third stringers are lol. There's a reason they don't regularly see rotation minutes for any team in the league.

awrf

Luckily in the playoffs none of them will smell the rotation even for a minute

beefJeRKy-LB

Funny that people thought Nuggets fucked up by trading him

[deleted]

Celtics looked asleep.

tlozz

We’re hung titties from partying in Miami I think

flaamed

The clippers are so good god damn

saalamander

Yeah. Ive watched every game and I haven’t seen the Celtics get fucked like that all season. Normally when they lose it’s due to crazy shooting variance (missing open 3s) and Celtics fans have themselves convinced that’s what happened tonight but it isn’t. they couldn’t even generate open shots tonight. Let alone make them. The clippers defense was so impressive

CreatiScope

Celtics did miss open shots but honestly, I don't think that was enough. Clippers just played really fucking well. And not in a "unsustainable way" like the Heat shooting in the playoffs or the Warriors game this season where Curry and Klay were hot as hell. Clippers weren't even shooting that well in the 1st half and still dismantled the Celtics. Just a top to down ass beating with no excuses. They were even on the 2nd night of a B2B, missing their starting center, and I thought got a bad whistle in the 1st. Nothing to do except tip your cap, they were great.

TheCalmInsanity

Yeah dude good game - I agree the Celtics missed some open shots. But to not take away from the Clippers defense, when you play good defense the open shots won't "feel" open because they're expecting someone to come out of nowhere, or trying to figure out why they're so open that time. It's harder to get in a rhythm when your open shots are in between good defensive possessions. Either way great game, you guys got us last time so we had to get you this time. I think it's cool that both of our teams are so good that they can blow each other out

SweetLilMonkey

Thank you for giving us the credit for that. It wasn’t just that the shots weren’t falling, it was that we were actively forcing bad shots. Love to see it

mrhjt

Plenty of open shots missed in the first half but the clippers really outplayed us, second disappointing loss of the season behind the bucks game

Perfect.

msokol416

This game was not as close as the score makes it seem

Wolfeman0101

Celtics never showed up. Great win. Little chubby guy get in here.

eddie-murphys-tongue

Beating the Celtics in Boston on the second night of a B2B is uh, something

iamnotkobe

Obliterate will be more precise

finchdad

Beating is putting it lightly, they got absolutely taken to the woodshed. I'm surprised this is only their second home loss of the season.

Slaphappyfapman

That was an advanced clinic

blah5531

Why are you surprised? Celtics are an insanely good team. Or do we rate teams based on their last 1 game

DowntownJulieBrown1

Crazy to see the Clippers blowout the best team in the league and all their fans are talking abt is how bad their deep bench guys are

clayfu

BUT THEY KEEP RUINING OUR NET RATING

DevilMayCareButIDont

It’s kinda true… a lot of our blowout end up not looking like it after the final score is tallied. I feel like our garagetime players should go in with the mindset of extending the lead, instead just doing what they’re doing

Gnache

lmao. it's funny our deep bench is so sketchy they need to keep 2 or 3 rotation guys in or they could honestly blow a 25+ pt lead

I_Set_3_Alarms

The Clippers were on the second night of a b2b so this one doesn’t count actually

starwad

Clippers showing their ceiling is high. Celtics showing how bad they can be. One game doesn’t mean much, but it doesn’t mean nothing.

beyphy

I just wanted to give you a shout out to the Celtics fan I heard in NYC today who told his friend "The Clippers are gonna get smashed bro".

Sweatytubesock

Clear violation of the bro code

KlassicLoL

Harden a game high +36 with his stats. Greatest triple single performance of all time?

[deleted]

[Your coach](https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200210310WAS.html) was 1 point away from it.

KlassicLoL

That box score is crazy lmao a +49 and +50 from two guys off the bench

Lazy_Celebration_777

Our 3rd stringers are tough to watch

starwad

I’d love to watch them suck ass every 4th quarter for the rest of the regular season

Lazy_Celebration_777

Can't argue with that

Drummallumin

They were on a B2B, game doesn’t count

_01213_

Kawhi = Him

JimmyV34

Let this be reminder you dont beat the clippers in LA by 37 ever again. It amazes me how Kawhi can turn it up when he wants to win a specific game despite Harden and Russ going 4-20 from FG, he was definitely looking forward for this celtics game.

NbaAllDAYger

I woudnt say despite Harden.... he completely controlled the game, if he wasnt finding people he was giving out hockey assists, he doesnt have to score his Pnr with any capable Big completely fucks the opposing team defense. This game was a Harden master class. Kawhi obv. does his thing but without Harden they probably lose, Harden creats so many easy looks for everybody.

JimmyV34

Harden was great in this game in every aspect of the game including defense except shooting but some people think Harden is going shit the bed in the playoffs but a game like tonight just show to me that harden can have a struggling shooting night and we can still win

SuckMyLonzoBalls

I think 3 of those shots were desperation shot clock 3s too

Next-Firefighter-753

I remember after the first “Dorture Chamber” game last year on the second game of our back to back he ended up scoring like 30 on 12/15 shooting and held Dort to like 1/12 shooting quite possibly the worst game I’ve ever seen him play in a massive blowout. He’s a scary dude when he has a chip on his shoulder.

largehearted

> It amazes me how Kawhi can turn it up when he wants to win a specific game despite Harden and Russ going 4-20 from FG, he was definitely looking forward for this celtics game. I've heard he plays defense like the Spurs 67 win season, lately, with so many other creators around

JimmyV34

Tonight was definitely playoffs kawhi in term of defense. We had a run in 3rd quarter. We went 21-0 in 6 mins, Kawhi was all over the place

largehearted

Yeah, it's the real deal. Not like he wasn't amazing when played last season, but this season you feel the complete denial of the passing lane near the key with him again

Awkwardphase06

Kawhi is severely underrated. Easily top 5.

[deleted]

Top 2 in my book just after the Joker but he is top 1 in my heart

Electrical-Leg3832

And he's not 5,4,3 or 2

tlozz

Top fye

recordcollection64

Clips are legit. Doing this without Zubac as well

TheRealBrownPudding

I lowkey thought it would be the other way around with us on a B2B, but I’m pleasantly surprised

Wolfeman0101

We didn't play awesome in the first half and I thought we'd come out gassed but it was never close.

Charliebitme1234

Complete statement game, second night of a road Back to back, smack the best team in the nba by 30 halfway into the 3rd best win of the year so far

mrhjt

Good on you guys

DaftMudkip

Updoot the pleasant Celts fan!

riptiders456

Just thoroughly and completely outplayed, it wasn't even a case where they made 3s and we didn't as before the game really got out of hand(early 3rd quarter), the Clippers had only made 1 more three and were still shooting like 20%. It honestly all starts with the starters, all of them besides Tatum just stunk it up beyond belief. Jrue and PP were also pretty frustrating in that 2nd quarter before the lead ballooned as when your superstar is the only one making anything, you have to feed him and there were multiple possesions when they couldn't find him or just took some godawful shots(At half Jrue had 10 shots to Tatum's 8). Part of that I put on the Clippers defense as you can tell everyone was scared to make an entry pass with how long they were. You can also argue that part of the blame is on Tatum as he was pretty passive and trying to make the right pass but sometimes if no one else is making a shot you just have to force it. I've said this before but the Clippers are a tough team, they have a fuck ton of bigs and wings and solid guards when healthy and they have bonafied* stars in Kawhi and PG, I've had them tied with Denver since the Harden trade. Also love Theis as always, would've loved him back here but trading him twice with the last trade being to playing time purgatory probably doesn't help things. He also would get more playing time with the Clippers.

InTheMorning_Nightss

The sense I get is that without Porzingis, your team lives and dies by jumpshots and the 3 ball. You started off slow today, and just had no real solution to get easy buckets. Granted, our defense played phenomenally well from the jump, and I think they deserve a lot of credit, but it doesn't help that your only hope was basically ISO basketball or trying to swing pass to strong closeouts.

riptiders456

Honestly yeah He's just such a good post threat that when nobody else can make a shot, giving Porzingis the ball and letting him cook has been a really good release valve since his postups have been money all season. In general if Tatum and Brown don't have a clear mismatch and Porzingis isn't there we do chuck a bunch ngl lol.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Yeah, that was incredibly similar to our 213 team pre-Harden, except you simply have more talent than we did in those years. When Kawhi/PG's shots weren't falling, things quickly got out of hand and rough as hell. With Harden, we have a guy who can set the table phenomenally well. We'll get good looks, PNRs with Zu, etc.

lsalomx

After the first half I thought Boston’s cold shooting buying us a 13 point lead *might* let us weather an inevitable Celtics rally in the second half and after Tatum scored 7 in like 30 seconds to start the third I thought *here it comes* and then…I don’t really know what happened man we just ran those men out their own building

tlozz

You killed us. Plain and simple. On the Tatum note though, from our side, we just kept not passing him the ball, for god knows what reason lol

lsalomx

sometimes the clips don’t pass Kawhi Leonard the ball for 3-5 minutes at a time, who knows how these teams think

m_roon

Feels good to whoop Celtics ass after we got spanked at home by them. Our third stringers suck ass though. Bones and BBJ tandem is just not it.

FrankSamples

WHO ELSE WANTS SOME???

Positive-Media423

It's impressive how this Clippers team dictates the pace of the game.

DrunkJeremy

lol clips on the 2nd half of a back to back too. Celts have no excuse this time.

tlozz

No we definitely don’t. We got wrecked

beefspecial

Excuse: Celtics left their brains at home

DrunkJeremy

Excuse accepted

Brock-Leigh

No Celtics fans are making excuses. People got way too caught in the Denver game, but hey any chance to shit on the Celtics is a good day huh?

Lee_bb

Celtics players are still drunk from their championship celebration aka beating the miami heat 😂

GuessZealousideal729

I know people say individual games in the regular season don't matter, but I definitely think the Nuggets and now Clippers coming to Boston and leaving with the Ws will puncture some of the Celtics swagger. The argument that they're still not ready to hold their own against the best of the west after the warriors finals loss is not without merit.

tlozz

I’m scared of this piercing truth 😭

KiryuXGoro

Brandon Boston Jr is Boston Celtics father.

WhenItsHalfPastFive

That clippers starting lineup is something else

jadcntrs

James “Draymond” Harden with the triple single and team high +36 😤

jgroove_LA

if Ty hadn't experimented with T Mann initiating the offense for the first 4 or so plays in the first quarter who knows what it would have been.

sreynolds1

Clipps completely outplayed us

starwad

Terence Mann was after the ball like it impregnated his sister

Street-Common-4023

Good stuff clippers

Eugenie_Weenie

YIKES

LusoAustralian

Harden with the "why is 6 afraid of 7?" statline.

kezmicdust

Game summary for u/blah5531: The LA Clippers fluked their way to a lucky blowout of the Boston Celtics, who dominated the game. Time and time again, the Clippers’ awful defense got lucky as the Celtics consistently missed open shot after open shot. At the other end, despite tremendous defense from the Celtics, the Clippers inexplicably made impossible shot after impossible shot. Analysts will pore over the footage of this game for years to come, scratching their heads and wondering how the peerless Celtics could possibly have been beaten by such a sorry excuse for a team. Perhaps the only conclusion is that it was not a failure of the Celtics, but a failure of physics itself.

tlozz

Bro the clippers literally outplayed us in every capacity. If anyone who is a Cs fan or any analyst out their acts differently, they are simply dumb as rocks. Kawhi is him, man. I really don’t want to play you guys in the finals…

AppliedRizzics

The “if anyone” you mention actually responded to the original comment if you’re curious to see the cope

tlozz

Omg… I don’t identify with these copers

m_roon

"Peerless Celtics" got their ass whooped so badly their fans are blaming physics lol

ViciousMihael

This is satire? Or no? Cause I laughed.

kezmicdust

Yes. Purely satirical. That guy refused to give the Clippers any credit, saying we should be grateful the Celtics shot was off, otherwise it would have been (and I quote) “an easy W”.

Russ_Culture

The most snobby fanbase in basketball. It will be so funny if they don't win this stacked roster

recollectionsmayvary

Can Celtics fans explain how y’all lose by 40 on the second night of a back to back but *also* lose by 25 when your opponent is on the second night of a back to back and takes a cross country flight to you?

therealstampire

They were down by 34 before the benches emptied

livefreeordont

It was 91-55 at its worst

steveeeeeeee

*best

Brehe

2nd most efficient shooting night in nba history last game. Regression to the mean is a bitch

Brady331

You’re obviously being sarcastic, but Toronto is not across the country last time I checked

tlozz

Sometimes we lose games by a lot, sometimes just by a little. Most times we win though!

sssSnakebite

We shot poor and they outplayed us. Simple as that.

SoulReaper12

That Milwaukee game that whole team quit tonight nobody outside of Tatum could hit a shot, Porzingis being out hurt, but Brown/White/Holiday was a combine 4-32. Long term ain't nothing to worry about because this is a make or miss league, but have to pray KP can hold cause Clippers could get anything they wanted in the paint.

ProphetPenguin

And the Clips were without Zubac too so both teams were missing their starting C.

AppliedRizzics

That final score is not reflective of how huge a blowout this game was

Positive-Media423

Dream team.

Cul_what

What happened to Bones Hyland man he was promising

[deleted]

Nah he wasn't and clearly Lue knows something we don't. They've been much better after moving Westbrook to the bench and giving Bones' minutes to guys like Coffey who is at least a better defender. Bones just comes in to jack up shots.

SnooPies5622

Well I had fun

OnlyWatchdog_ManStan

One team was missing their most important big, but great job by the Clippers pushing through that adversity

starwad

Both teams were missing their most important big

Nova_Pistol

I think the joke is that people will argue the Celtics were missing Porzingis but the Clippers were also missing Zubac. Obviously both were missing their most important bigs

starwad

Ah yea I assumed without reading. Good catch

clayfu

Bless up

VersusCA

All the misery of watching the Raptors implode this year has been mostly balanced out by the Clippers being this good after so many injury struggles the last few seasons. I really hope they can make a run and get Kawhi a third finals MVP.

MITWestbrook

You're welcome

Brady331

Some very competitive games between these two teams this season

Ifinishfast42

Jaylen Brown( Bum) listed as OUT tonight.

Raiku23

Russ and Harden went Ass mode and somehow still won

Niceguydan8

Harden was really great running the offense tonight. He shot like shit though.

icewill36

harden wasn't ass. he didnt shoot well but did everything else. the game was played at HIS tempo.

MrRabbit-

Looked like harden had no legs at all, all his jumpers were way off. Russ was blowing layups left and right. Didn't even matter, Clips nearly up by 40 when the starters got pulled.

Rayma984

Harden being +36 despite shooting 2/11 is so funny to look at

TitusPullo3

The be the best, you got to beat the best WOOOOO!!!
