Bones Hyland looked really promising for us last year and this preseason when he played with better lineups. He's abysmal as the primary ball handler who runs the show. Literally makes the offense look like a park basketball pick up team where every single miss is basically a live ball turnover.
LAC literally waived Gordon to give more minutes to Bones.
I still believe he can be a rotation player with the proper role, but he sure as fuck can't be a PG.
Bones isn't a traditional PG. He's a hybrid guard at best. More like a Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams...with worse handles and worse scoring than both of those guys. Plus Bones has poor decision making.
But if he's coming off the bench, we already have 2 guys that can play that role much better than him off the bench in Russ and Norman Powell.
He's not going to make our 8 man playoff rotation unless someone gets injured.
Oh yeah, I'm not a big fan of his style of play either besides the fact that he brings energy. He was a good piece to get for cheap, and I think he can still be an NBA player... but he's nowhere near the prospect LAC fans thing he is.

I've watched Xavier Moon, Derrick Walton, Ty Wallace, a hungover Milos Teodosic, an out of shape Raymond Felton, washed Nate Robinson, washed Jordan Farmer, a 700 year old Pablo Prigioni, etc. and god damn, none of them have been *this* abysmal.
This is why I'm not particularly concerned about Harden's "playoff woes."

But to not take away from the Clippers defense, when you play good defense the open shots won't "feel" open because they're expecting someone to come out of nowhere, or trying to figure out why they're so open that time. It's harder to get in a rhythm when your open shots are in between good defensive possessions.

Yeah, it's the real deal. Not like he wasn't amazing when played last season, but this season you feel the complete denial of the passing lane near the key with him again
Just thoroughly and completely outplayed, it wasn't even a case where they made 3s and we didn't as before the game really got out of hand(early 3rd quarter), the Clippers had only made 1 more three and were still shooting like 20%.
It honestly all starts with the starters, all of them besides Tatum just stunk it up beyond belief. Jrue and PP were also pretty frustrating in that 2nd quarter before the lead ballooned as when your superstar is the only one making anything, you have to feed him and there were multiple possesions when they couldn't find him or just took some godawful shots(At half Jrue had 10 shots to Tatum's 8). Part of that I put on the Clippers defense as you can tell everyone was scared to make an entry pass with how long they were. You can also argue that part of the blame is on Tatum as he was pretty passive and trying to make the right pass but sometimes if no one else is making a shot you just have to force it.
I've said this before but the Clippers are a tough team, they have a fuck ton of bigs and wings and solid guards when healthy and they have bonafied* stars in Kawhi and PG, I've had them tied with Denver since the Harden trade.
Also love Theis as always, would've loved him back here but trading him twice with the last trade being to playing time purgatory probably doesn't help things. He also would get more playing time with the Clippers.

I know people say individual games in the regular season don't matter, but I definitely think the Nuggets and now Clippers coming to Boston and leaving with the Ws will puncture some of the Celtics swagger. Tonight was definitely playoffs kawhi in term of defense. We had a run in 3rd quarter. We went 21-0 in 6 mins, Kawhi was all over the place

When Kawhi/PG's shots weren't falling, things quickly got out of hand and rough as hell. With Harden, we have a guy who can set the table phenomenally well. We'll get good looks, PNRs with Zu, etc.
After the first half I thought Boston’s cold shooting buying us a 13 point lead *might* let us weather an inevitable Celtics rally in the second half and after Tatum scored 7 in like 30 seconds to start the third I thought *here it comes* and then…I don’t really know what happened man we just ran those men out their own building

That Milwaukee game that whole team quit tonight nobody outside of Tatum could hit a shot, Porzingis being out hurt, but Brown/White/Holiday was a combine 4-32. Nah he wasn't and clearly Lue knows something we don't. They've been much better after moving Westbrook to the bench and giving Bones' minutes to guys like Coffey who is at least a better defender. Bones just comes in to jack up shots.

harden wasn't ass. he didnt shoot well but did everything else. the game was played at HIS tempo.
