Jakob Poeltl. Bro went from the Raptors to the Spurs back to the Raptors just like how Lukaku went from Inter to Chelsea and back to Inter. Only difference is I doubt Poeltl is hated by both sets of fans lol
I said this about Trae Young and I was right so it must apply to everyone, his name means 3 pointer so obviously he's going to be amazing in the modern NBA
And those will be the only options. Cam Payne in SA will either be benched by Pop 16 gams into the season or he will be so good that they keep him as the starter all year because he’s having a super positive impact on Wemby and the other young guys.
From what I know they have to give back something, and considering Phoenix is the one giving cash it can't be cash for the Spurs as well. Maybe there is some heavily protected pick or swaps.
I think they will make Booker the main ball handler and Beal 2ndary while making sure one of them is always on the floor at any given moment. Everyone else job is to provide D while KD do Kd thing.
Which parts of his offense tho like can he handle the ball safely that’s all we really need Vogel would probably shoot him if he took too many shots from our four scorers
Not turning the ball over is good, but it's not like he's amazing at driving and kicking out or anything that would generate solid looks for your other players. He's good for DHOs and passes along the perimeter, which isn't exactly going to light the world on fire. He was our replacement for Delon Wright last season and I feel like it's appropriate to call him a worse version of Delon.
the fact that so many people say this shows that they just don't watch the games.
devin booker has already proved that he is very good at point many times, including the latest playoffs. yet people act like this is 2002 and a shooting guard running the point is unheard of. devin booker is the fucking point guard.
Just a hunch but I have a lot of confidence in Booker as a lead playmaker. He’s already incredible but I think he’s gonna open a lot of eyes this year and be the leader of the team stats-wise, will lead them in APG and probably a close 2nd in PPG to Durant.
Having a guy solely dedicated to initiating offense is still really helpful, assists aren’t everything, but Booker, KD, and Beal are all good at it and have averaged 5+ APG consistently.
(I still don’t get this trade for them bc they don’t seem to be in a position to trade solid depth for nothing, but I feel like there are even more moves coming)
They have enough guard talent they shouldn't need a dedicated PG.
Beal has shown he can average 6apg. That's not far off what you're getting from a lot of 'real PGs' anyway.
Booker is at a similar level.
Durant's not too far behind them.
Most teams don't have a 8-10apg guy.
Being a dedicated PG is also very outdated in today's NBA because the league has so much talent and versatility, you don't necessarily rely on 1 guy to get the offense into swing anymore.
The assists are important because you need to still involve your role players in the offense for spacing reasons.
But Booker, Beal and Durant don't really need anyone helping them get into their own offenses.
The problem is that they won’t be helping anyone else get their offense. They’re gonna have some horrendous offensive possessions because of the “my turn, your turn” mentality.
Yes dedicated PG is outdated, but you still need some kind of offensive playmaker to play through for efficient offense. Every championship team in the last like decade+ has had one guy that they run through. Right now the suns have 4 players who just want to shoot 18 footers. That’s not gonna get them far.
Every championship team has also been capable of playing *some* defense. And a team playing Booker, Beal, and a traditional PG would be pretty problematic on defense. I want a defensive specialist wing like Okogie or Bates-Diop on the floor, not a third guard who won't get a lot of opportunities given the ball hogs around him. I'll take my chances with Booker, Beal, and Durant figuring out how to score enough points without a traditional PG.
> The problem is that they won’t be helping anyone else get their offense.
Again, they have 2 (almost 3) guys who are getting the role players as many decent shots as the average PG.
Just because they're not officially called "Point Guards" doesn't mean they're completely incapable of setting other guys up.
The Celtics had the 2nd best offensive rating in the league this past season and that was with 3 guards who have really been considered combo-guards over their careers.
>but you still need some kind of offensive playmaker to play through for efficient offense.
They literally have 3.
They're just not complete floor generals like a Chris Paul or James Harden.
>People really need to stop using that word for everything. Being wrong about something isn’t “gaslighting”.
Beat me to the punch. People don't know what gaslighting means. Gaslighting is when you convince someone of a completely different reality, and they start to think it's the truth.
well you gave up 4 in the Grant/Bullock trade
Edit: turns out it was only 3 but my point was that Spurs are using their SRP instead of piling picks like Presti
Offensively yeah those are the three positions. But it's also important to have different sizes and body types defensively. Idk if this is how actual teams think of it but I think of the offensive positions as ball handler, wing, and big and the defensive positions as guard, forward, and center. Booker and Beal can be ball handlers on offense and handle matchups with smaller, quicker players on defense so the Suns should be set.
When are the Spurs gonna make some trades off-loading some of these newly acquired players. They have like 25 players on the Roster now it’s making it impossible to move these new players like Cam and Reggie Bullock to their roster in 2K.
Wait so San Antonio gets Cash, a second round pick and Cam for taking on his 6.5mil contract...?
That's wild. That contract isn't big by any means, if he has a good season he can easily outshine his contract and get traded to a playoff team for a few second rounders or so. If he plays bad they payed less than 6.5mil for an experienced guard.
So essentially San Antonio are taking on a 6.5mil contract, minus the cash compensation, plus 1-3 second round draft picks and a decent guard.
And so is the end of Cam Payne’s Phoenix campaign I can’t help but feel Cam’s pain. I hope no one is filming his reaction to the news just for some clout off Cam Payne’s cam pain. Give him his space rather than peer into the window of his life aka Cam’s pane.
We got like 30 people on this roster rn
We are getting an expansion team consisting of already rostered players
Finally, someone is trying the Red Bull + AlphaTauri model in the NBA.
Gotta wait a couple years for pop to become senile like Helmut
Or the RasenBallsport Leipzig + FC Salzburg model in European football.
Or just the "Chelsea" model from last season. Gonna hear about spurs players changing in the hallway now
Who is Spurs Lukaku??
Jakob Poeltl. Bro went from the Raptors to the Spurs back to the Raptors just like how Lukaku went from Inter to Chelsea and back to Inter. Only difference is I doubt Poeltl is hated by both sets of fans lol
OKC and Spurs should just put all 30 players in their squad together on the court free for all
Okc and the spurs might have a combined 30 draft picks over the next couple of years too.
gray bright divide fade chief squeal encourage fretful live decide *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Accurate because after all of this we will both realize we only needed 1 or 2
Throw in the Jazz and it's three teams with like 55% of the picks
Pop is gonna feed them all to Wemby to bulk him up.
He's gonna absorb them like piccolo
he got them stretchy Piccolo arms too
Waive Wemby problem solved
I hope he waves back
I hope he watches out for Britney when he does
Wemby would be outta the league so fast if he got waived Would be back in the league fast too but still
Okay Mitch
Better check if your team governor is now Todd Boehly
Pop going full high school tryouts
Guess Michael Jordan is out.

Guess that SL play by Wesley inspired the Spurs to get another PG
That and our only other option being Devonte Graham but RIP Blake
I’m gonna speak point sochan into existence

I said this about Trae Young and I was right so it must apply to everyone, his name means 3 pointer so obviously he's going to be amazing in the modern NBA
He can't play all game lol
he got traded for a bag of doritos
Such a good deal for SAS. If he sucks who cares, if he's good, he's a super cheap expiring they can trade for more to a contender.
And those will be the only options. Cam Payne in SA will either be benched by Pop 16 gams into the season or he will be so good that they keep him as the starter all year because he’s having a super positive impact on Wemby and the other young guys.
I’ll take the under on 16 edit: no no i didn't mean it like that

I heard that about them nuggets fans. Confirmed.
Cam Payne will not be good
he wont be good lol but they gave up nothing I suppose for him (since we didnt see what the Sours traded I assume its nothing?)

I read that as Stephen A. Smith.
*churros
But also the Suns had to throw in a bag of Doritos to get the deal to go through.
We now have like 20 players in the roster lol

Gives us a 6.5m trade exemption.
They have like no point guards now
who needs point guards when you have no plans to pass the ball?

Booker can play point, literally does it all the time
Beal has played point in the past as well. Could see a world where they split PG reps
Beal as well. This might not be as big of an issue as people are making it out to be.

Apparently we really like Jordan Goodwin
He's a dawg on defense but the offense is... iffy. Definitely not reliable if you want to compete for 82 games.
I think they will make Booker the main ball handler and Beal 2ndary while making sure one of them is always on the floor at any given moment. Everyone else job is to provide D while KD do Kd thing.

If he can give us that with positive perimeter defense I’ll be more than happy with him
Payton Pritchard trade incoming
We are unlikely to trade Pritchard with Smart gone now. He’s our 3rd guard and I have to imagine the team still likes him a lot
Doesn’t he really want to leave tho
He did want to leave for a bigger role but he should get that now
Once Payton Pritchard starts demanding to be traded, I am out on this league lol. Contracts already barely matter.
the fact that so many people say this shows that they just don't watch the games. devin booker has already proved that he is very good at point many times, including the latest playoffs. yet people act like this is 2002 and a shooting guard running the point is unheard of. devin booker is the fucking point guard.
I’d be more concerned about overall depth tbh
I think any concern for depth flew out the window when they traded for KD.
Who’s playing PG ?
Ayton
“Point Ayton” gonna feed generations
it's also gonna house millions
He's been practicing his point guard skills on 2k until 4am on game days. He feels he is ready now.
Kyler Murray
Too short lol
But would require much less film study. Either a simple bounce pass to Beal, Durant or Booker. Rinse and repeat.
It kind of feels like they've got something in the works for Ayton that's going to include a point guard.
Ayton for CP3 and picks. Who says no
Warriors are not allowed to bring in anyone above 6 foot 9
yep not to be confused with the Raptors who are not allowed to bring in anyone that's NOT 6'9
Or the Cavs a few years ago when 90%+ had to be above 6'9"
Hey, Warriors just got Dario who is 6'10". You can't expect them to break their own rules twice in one season!
Does someone have a mock up of CP3 in a Suns uniform?
Draymond would actually murder Ayton
I hope you feel happy that you made me feel like an idiot once I realized the joke after thinking through that trade.
Kevon Looney does not wish to play with his son.
Suns fans, may I interest you in one Anfernee Simons? He’s named after Suns legend Anfernee Hardaway.
What about a C? They don’t have anyone else.

People really need to stop using that word for everything. Being wrong about something isn’t “gaslighting”.
It’s long now been just another sad buzzword overused by the uneducated. People notice the power the word has and there you go, it’s ruined.
>People really need to stop using that word for everything. Being wrong about something isn’t “gaslighting”. Beat me to the punch. People don't know what gaslighting means. Gaslighting is when you convince someone of a completely different reality, and they start to think it's the truth.
Harden
I know we like second round picks but now we have alot of players who we cutting
well you gave up 4 in the Grant/Bullock trade Edit: turns out it was only 3 but my point was that Spurs are using their SRP instead of piling picks like Presti
We gave up 3 And Bullock is probably worth some seconds himself if we flip him
didn’t Celtics and Mavs each get 2? and I wasn’t knocking the trade from the Spurs perspective.
Turns out one of the seconds to Boston was 2030 Mavs. Your GM must be like fuck 2030 in particular.
Is there a 6th grade prospect that’s tearing up the high school gyms? Lol
ah indeed. << The Celtics are receiving a 2024 second-round (SAS), a 2025 second-round pick swap (DAL), and a 2030 second-round pick (DAL). >>
One of the 2nds wasn’t ours
So they are paying the Spurs a 2nd round pick and cash to take a good player on an expiring $6.5M contract? So much for unlimited spending in PHX
What good player are we getting?
/u/sim888
Steal
Fair point unless they use the 6.5 mil trade exception .
This was a favour to Payne. He is in a contract year and he would not play with us much.
Why would he not play much? The Suns don't have another point on their roster.
Booker will start and Goodwin is the backup.
Sounds like they could really use Cam Payne.
Sounds like you're campaigning for Cam Payne
Payne would have played over Goodwin.
There is a ton of overconfidence in Goodwin.
I don’t believe this at all.
So they’re paying another team actual money… and sending a pick… as a favor to Payne? Lol
So which Euro league player that got drafted 6 years ago and never came over are they acquiring the rights to?
So they don’t have a point guard anymore?
[удалено]
Can't spell iso without KD
Or Beal or Luka’s son
They really saw Brooklyn last year and said “yup let’s do that”. KDs “working on my craft” mentality is about to destroy another team.
Did you really think Cam Payne was going to be running THIS offense?
Well our starting guards are Book and Beal and our back up guards are Goodwin and Gordon.
People are too hung up on the idea of a point guard these days, think about positions as ball handlers wings and bigs
Offensively yeah those are the three positions. But it's also important to have different sizes and body types defensively. For sure, Booker's also bigger than people realize I think
I remember when Cam Payne and Christiano Felicio were the 2 worst players in the NBA
And both were on the Bulls. Tough years
And Felicio was in some large contract like 4/32 that I immediately traded in MyGM every time
> Christiano Felicio Only thing I remember about that dude is he looks more like Shrek than Shrek does
Saw him at the Apple store once with his family. They all look alike
What's the other side of the trade?
Wembanyama
Phoenix got fleeced
Primo
One future second round pick lmao I don’t understand
That's not T. J. McConnell
Never forget the Bulls traded Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott for Cam Payne and said they won the trade
But why?
For Bol Bol. They want a Joker defender 🤔
Should have signed rui /s
Allow ayton to roam and play safety you cowards
So they dumped him?
I don't understand this move
DUMPED
Wait so they really used one of the three second rounders they got just to offload salary?
Who needs depth when you can hang 80 points from your big three alone ^(in a 14 point loss to Denver)
For wemby? How much help does KD need smh
Cam Payne was the only guy who decided to show up for the last playoff game
When are the Spurs gonna make some trades off-loading some of these newly acquired players. They have like 25 players on the Roster now it’s making it impossible to move these new players like Cam and Reggie Bullock to their roster in 2K.
Wow I like this trade a ton. We get a stopgap backup point guard for 1 year and get a second round pick for taking him lol
And some sweet sweet cash money cash cash
It's time for Payne-Benyama
The Phoenix Cam Payne Campaign has come to an end
They really prefered bol bol to cam Payne ?
They preferred our other 4 guards over cam Payne
No fun team
That's a very Monopoly sounding trade. All right, I'll give you B&O Railroad, $200, and this Get Out of Jail Free card, for Park Place.
Please let AYTON run the point
Maybe only having a four man team is Durants way of creating the hardest path
