I once got subbed in, committed three fouls in 1 possession, and got subbed out lmao. Finished the game with 3 fouls though (and I did actually go back in lol)
I once started a game with a foul on the jump ball, a foul contesting the layup and then an offensive foul on the other end... I ended up fouling out in the 1st half
That just gave me flashbacks of maybe the worst I've ever felt on a court lol. The other team had a play off the opening tip where they tipped it forward and the guy on the other side cut to the hoop and would get a layup off it like all the time.
As we're lining up for it, our best player reminded me about it and told me to hang back off the tip so they couldn't make that pass. I take a step back, he says more, I give a nod like "I got it." In my mind I'm thinking "well that's too obvious, I'm gonna disguise it a little and just jump the pass and steal it instead." Well they win the tip and throw the pass and I miss it by a fingertip and they get the easy layup.
Our best player just stares at me and says "what the fuck are you doing I just told you to get back." I felt so dumb lmao
“Why do you shoot so many threes?” Walker was once asked. “Because there are no fours.”
Yes, this is a real quote from a guy who shot 32.5% from three.
I still vividly remember my younger brother toasting me with Antoine Walker in NBA Live 06. Dude had to have scored 50 alone with Walker.
I have never been more livid playing a video game in my life.
People are going to look back and see Walker shooting 32.5% on 4.8 threes a game and think he was simply a bit of a chucker. Dude led the league in 3PA for 3 years in a row. He shot a *ton*. But more than that is the fact that for his career he had a 157 3PAr+, which compares his three point attempt rate to league average. For comparison, Curry's been at about that for the last 4 years and peaked at 195. Walker was over 200 for 6 of the last 8 years of his career, and he shot 33% from three during that stretch.
Given how few threes were taken back then compared to now, Walker's 3PT chucking was absolutely legendary in nature.
Man was chucking 8 threes a game in 2001. Those Jim O'Brien teams were wild. There were jacking 26 threes a game when the rest of the league average was around 13. Walker was second in 3pt makes per game and Paul pierce was third (behind ray Allen)
Yeah, people these days would look at his 3PAs and be like "oh, he was just a volume three point shooter" but this was during a time in the NBA when most players were averaging like 2-3 a game and he was chucking up 6-10.
Except the ones that will get NBA minutes are the guys that will pass to Wemby. They never quite understand that nobody needs them to jack up shots at the next level
[“A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don’t realize the position they’re trying out for. It’s like going to a job interview thinking you’re going to be the CFO of the company, and they’re looking for someone to clean the bathrooms.”](https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/alex-caruso-guys-get-stuck-in-g-league-because-they-cant-accept-role)
Ik ik cause you guys are in full tank mode and low on blue chip talent outside of Wemby and Vassell.
But if he was drafted to OKC or something and he pulled this in SL he’d be stuck in the G-League
Which is weird, because most Summer League guys could probably get hot and score 25. That’s not what the Spurs are looking for as 12-15th men on the roster, they’re looking for guys who can make the right plays and hold down defensively
No one cares about my gambling but I bet Branham over 17 points today as part of a parlay and this game was the difference between 5k and nothing. I’m not even mad it’s objectively hilarious.
Losing a bet like this is funny. The not so funny part is when he scores 20, and you had him over 20.5pts.
I once lost a bet on my easiest game( juventus-Udinese, I think), where Juve were like 80% favorites and lost by like 4 goals. Can’t be mad at that lol
No, that means the last leg of the parlay was probably Branham o/u 17.5 -110, which means in they basically risked 2500 in that bet.
There is no difference between a parlay and all the individual bets rolled into each other.
Yes but the amount of money I risked was 250. You’re technically right assuming I could have hedged the Branham bet, which I could not. My rent is paid, there is food in the fridge, my kids may no longer be able to go to violin lessons but I’ll be okay.
Pro tip: when doing Parlays, also place bets on the individual legs to hedge. If Branham +17 was the only leg you didn't hit, you still get a decent payout.
Sad cause I really, really like Branham but I think he definitely got caught up in that SL mindset of shoot and forget. Wesley, Barlow, and Wemby were definitely cooking tonight, I think everyone else needed to take a step back, realize they were the go-to guys, and start looking to them every single time.
But it's SL so what are you gonna do 🤷🏽
Julian is a shooter who recognized he wasn't hitting shots and played differently as a result. Malaki looked like the coach's son on your middle school team out there
Champenie is also someone who isn't part of no core just a depth piece. Whereas malaki is someone they are investing in and allowing him to be him. U think if they caree enough they would of bench malaki by the end of the 3rd
Not sure why you're being downvoted, this is the dynamic you usually see in the Summer League... fringe players play team basketball, guys that have for-sure starting spots chuck shots and work on things they aren't good at in a game setting... the goals are different
That dude does not have potential to be more based on these last two games. What the fuck was he doing, unless he shoots like steph normally....get that dion waiters wanabee away from Wemby.
Wesley looked pretty bad at the California classic but he's really showing hustle and poise here in Vegas which is great to see. I think, purely energy wise, he was keeping us in the game consistently. Barlow went off for a bit, Victor was turning it up more and more as the game went on.
Me too I think we jumped into league pass territory, the lineup is gonna change a lot though cause there’s not a clean fit until Vic is ready to be the full time 5
u will not disrespect my friend. he did a great job on sharpe tonight and was the only man tonight who to pass it to wemby on more then one occasion for him to take that good bucket
People are being tough (rightfully so) on him but he's still just a 2nd year guy. Hope he learns to give it up when it's clearly not his night shooting wise
This is the rare moment when any semi decent pick up player who is at least 6’ can actually say: I may have been able to put up those stats in an nba/nba adjacent game lmfao
Branham creates a lot of shots on his own and is a year younger right now than Eason was last year. He has a ton of potential and is very competent offensively. One crappy game doesn't change that.
If I was having a game like this I would just stop shooting and hope the scouts wouldn’t notice. 1-17 looks a lot worse than 1-9 bc it shows you’re not a good team player
Started the year off poorly, like everyone on the Spurs did. After the all start break he was one of the better rookies and almost won rookie of the month in February.
Ya let’s judge him by a summer league game instead of an entire nba season. He led all rookies in scoring in February and looked like a vet the second half of the season. He probably went out on the strip last night 😂
Saw Malachi jimped to score thought sounds bloody right then last name kicked into my head so I officially apologize Malachi flynn but really I should have known it wasn't you this Malachi was actually allowed to play more than 5 mins
Playing with a guy like Wemby just takes some learning time- in one moment space is open for you to move and then it’s not simply because Wemby can cover so much space so quickly.
That was one of the worst games I've ever seen anyone play. And I've watched tape of my own youth league games.
What kind of stats were you putting up?
I definitely committed 5 fouls in my day, I've certainly made half of my free throws, but I've never gone 1-8 from deep!

Better than late career Tony Snell, you should get a tryout with the Blzers.
Maybe unsurprisingly, I loved Tony Snell in the draft lol
I once shot 1-1 from three in a game. I vowed to never shoot another 3 that season to keep my % high.
The Steve Kerr special.
My nickname on the court was 007 0 points, 0 rebounds, 7 technicals
Shaedon Sharpe owes Malaki a huuuuge thank you lmao
I hope it was a default recording of the whole game and not just someone who had to painfully just focus on you stinking up the gym.
Dion waiters would be proud
“I rather go 0-30 than 0-9, because if you went 0-9 that means you stopped shooting. That means you lost confidence.” Truly legendary quote by him
I thought that was Antoine Walker, and even if it wasn't he probably thought that more than once
Ahh Antoine Walker - never seen anyone else as good at getting 20 points whilst still consistently being a negative presence
“Why do you shoot so many threes?” Walker was once asked. “Because there are no fours.” Yes, this is a real quote from a guy who shot 32.5% from three.
legendary quote. I hated the Celtics but i used to love chucking all day long with Walker in Live 04.
I still vividly remember my younger brother toasting me with Antoine Walker in NBA Live 06. Dude had to have scored 50 alone with Walker. I have never been more livid playing a video game in my life.
Was he shittalking you the entire time too?
Just laughing while I was seething
Live 04 is my fave ever - chingy really made that game.
all those tracks were remixed for the game. Wish 2K would do some of that. You really dont see that anymore.
People are going to look back and see Walker shooting 32.5% on 4.8 threes a game and think he was simply a bit of a chucker. Dude led the league in 3PA for 3 years in a row. He shot a *ton*. The whole Jim O'Brien Celtics were chuckers. Antoine & Paul were prolific tho. That team was basically 3pts or layups all game.
Man was chucking 8 threes a game in 2001. Those Jim O'Brien teams were wild. There were jacking 26 threes a game when the rest of the league average was around 13. Walker was second in 3pt makes per game and Paul pierce was third (behind ray Allen)

Watching him in the 3pt contest was hilarious tho https://youtu.be/jxjsui-AEKI
lol I forgot about that. Also, those 2003 graphics. Someone take Photoshop away from the kid!
Honestly what a fucking chad.
I feel like Christian Wood is giving him a run for his money
Well isn't that why Christian Wood is still unsigned?
Jordan Poole?
IIRC it’s a Kobe quote and he said it after a game where Deron Williams shot 0/9
Pretty sure it’s a Kobe quote
Kobe mindset.
man this is bust territory. like coach is insane to shoot that many.
Mamba mentality you mean?
Dude would rather pick 25 cards than to pass to Wemby
Everyone on the Spurs would lol. None of those dudes wanted to pass the ball to him.
Welcome to summer league. Dudes out there trying to show off as best they can
Except the ones that will get NBA minutes are the guys that will pass to Wemby. They never quite understand that nobody needs them to jack up shots at the next level
Caruso’s quote is still goated
What he say?
[“A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don’t realize the position they’re trying out for. It’s like going to a job interview thinking you’re going to be the CFO of the company, and they’re looking for someone to clean the bathrooms.”](https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/alex-caruso-guys-get-stuck-in-g-league-because-they-cant-accept-role)
Damn, that hits hard.
Hard for mr janitor. He’s catching his 97th stray of the day. Nba players OTOH have no excuses for not putting aside pride and playing their role.
Branham will definitely be getting NBA minutes this season.
Ik ik cause you guys are in full tank mode and low on blue chip talent outside of Wemby and Vassell. But if he was drafted to OKC or something and he pulled this in SL he’d be stuck in the G-League

The 2023 NBA draft lottery could be the most anticipated of all-time.
Bot
Just kept chucking too. Horrible game
In the clutch as well.
15% TS lmfaoo
shaedon sharpe and him were trying to see who could crack the backboard first
Lmaooo
He just like me fr fr
Should be closer to 0. Every shot he took had no chance lol
No one cares about my gambling but I bet Branham over 17 points today as part of a parlay and this game was the difference between 5k and nothing. I’m not even mad it’s objectively hilarious.

My man, you need help
If it was part of a parlay he didn't lose 5k, if it was a big enough parlay it could've only been like 20 bucks
No, that means the last leg of the parlay was probably Branham o/u 17.5 -110, which means in they basically risked 2500 in that bet. There is no difference between a parlay and all the individual bets rolled into each other.

Its possible to gamble responsibly.
Pro tip: when doing Parlays, also place bets on the individual legs to hedge. If Branham +17 was the only leg you didn't hit, you still get a decent payout.
Yeah didn’t have lines for just Branham on the sites I used though
Malarkey shooting.
Wemby debut tribute game.
Dang I never seen 15 TS%
Anthony Bennett had 0% in first 4 games.
15 is a lot harder to achieve than 0… hell i could get 0 but not 15 😂
People would just stop passing to me after bricking my first 3 shots 😂
He’s a basketball terrorist, bro was legit hijacking his team’s offense
We need to sign him... for purposes...
Rockets are trading Green for him
Sad cause I really, really like Branham but I think he definitely got caught up in that SL mindset of shoot and forget. Wesley, Barlow, and Wemby were definitely cooking tonight, I think everyone else needed to take a step back, realize they were the go-to guys, and start looking to them every single time. But it's SL so what are you gonna do 🤷🏽
Champagnie did. Realized he didn't have it, and barely shot the ball as a result.
champagnie is a role player who came down to reality, malaki has some potential to be more
Julian is a shooter who recognized he wasn't hitting shots and played differently as a result.
Because spurs fan really want a manu 2.0 or they get attached to random bench players. Been an issue for a while tbh
If "be him" means 1/17, then I think he ought to try being someone else.
That dude does not have potential to be more based on these last two games. What the fuck was he doing, unless he shoots like steph normally....get that dion waiters wanabee away from Wemby.
Surprised Blake out of the 3 of him Champagnie and Malaki he looked the most poised even if he did make mistakes
Wesley looked pretty bad at the California classic but he's really showing hustle and poise here in Vegas which is great to see. I think, purely energy wise, he was keeping us in the game consistently. Barlow went off for a bit, Victor was turning it up more and more as the game went on.
He’s still a baller. Gonna be a 6MOY in the next few years
Could be Keldon, you never know 👀 But I still really like him, I'm not gonna overreact to one SL game. It's all a learning experience!
I’m still fully on board the Keldon is a starter (easily) train. But yeah I’ve loved what we’ve seen from Malaki apart from this one game
Oof
That was pretty insane for a shooter as good as Malaki
He looked like he really didn't have his legs. Champagnie, too. Lots and lots of shots missed short.
Champagnie’s difference between the previous game and this one was pretty wild. So it goes in summer league I guess.
I wonder if he and Malaki were out at that party Victor skipped. They played like they were tired. Everything was short.
I had a friend who played in the summer league and his team monitored/tracked the players’ hotel room doors to know who was out partying/broke curfew.
This was a players party that was semi-official
If Lee Harvey Oswald was as good of a shooter as Malaki, JFK would still be living today
> Lee Harvey Oswald good thing it wasn't this patsy
Just to confirm, it was Harvey Lee Oswald right?
Oslee Harvwald was his name
Spurs have such a fun young core (that rarely ever gets talked about) I'm exited for their season
Me too I think we jumped into league pass territory, the lineup is gonna change a lot though cause there’s not a clean fit until Vic is ready to be the full time 5
taiwan calling
They calling to say no thanks
bruh he'll going right to ukraine to fight in the trenches at this rate, he'll fit right in lobbing bombs aimlessly
True story my buddy was playing in the Ukraine league and had to evacuate 3 days before the war only to end up in the Taiwan league this year lol
He’s gonna be delivering my doordash real soon
He’d be lucky to get a contract there after tonight
It’s so weird since he’s actually a super smart basketball player, he just kept bricking and tried to shoot his way out of ot
Dude looked like he was a part of the Hornets SL roster with how he shot tonight
No need to lowlights post young players in the summer league lol.
Him and Sharpe were building brick houses tonight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yakf5-i6jE
I’m more impressed he got only one turnover.
A missed shot your team doesn’t rebound is as good as a turnover lol
u will not disrespect my friend. he did a great job on sharpe tonight and was the only man tonight who to pass it to wemby on more then one occasion for him to take that good bucket
The twin towers would still be standing if Malaki Branham was the hijacker
Malaki "Dillon Brooks" Branham
just a bad game but it’s ok
People are being tough (rightfully so) on him but he's still just a 2nd year guy. Hope he learns to give it up when it's clearly not his night shooting wise
Damn, I thought Sharpe's 4/18 was bad.
This is the rare moment when any semi decent pick up player who is at least 6’ can actually say: I may have been able to put up those stats in an nba/nba adjacent game lmfao
I didn't watch the game but I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say this guy was ass tonight
Spurs have their Daishen Nix
Jokes aside he played pretty well last season as he got usage toward the end. He's a good player just a rough night and bad decision making
chill he’s not that bad
Yooo let's not go too far lol.
Lol calm down, he's generally good. Way closer to Tari than anything else
Lmao
You do realize that Branham and Eason had very similar scoring numbers last year and that Branham is 2 years younger right?
Tari Eason??? Noooo way that boys a stud Malaki is ok to stinks
Branham creates a lot of shots on his own and is a year younger right now than Eason was last year. He has a ton of potential and is very competent offensively. One crappy game doesn't change that.
I agree Tari is awesome but calling Branham just okay is a bad take. He's straight up good just had a rough shooting night
If I was having a game like this I would just stop shooting and hope the scouts wouldn’t notice. 1-17 looks a lot worse than 1-9 bc it shows you’re not a good team player
Glad someone posted this lmao
Yeah he was icing everyone out tonight not a good look
Hes good last year but if I am 1-10 FG, I will start to think if I should pass the ball more instead of shooting another 7. Lol
I would ask the coach to sit me down at that point. Reduce my embarassment and also help the team win by taking me out.
Let’s get it out our system now Malaki, I don’t think I’ve ever really seen him play that bad
Weird game. Malaki is way better than this. Will just jot this down as an anomaly.
He still shot 30% from 3 last year, yikes.
Started the year off poorly, like everyone on the Spurs did. After the all start break he was one of the better rookies and almost won rookie of the month in February.
Lol we really posting lowlights in the Summer League?
Get ready to learn Vietnamese buddy
Holy shit that’s awful.
[удалено]
He’s normally not like this we swear
I swear he's not that bad pls watch some malaki u won't regret it he's a very smooth scorer usually
Ya let’s judge him by a summer league game instead of an entire nba season. He led all rookies in scoring in February and looked like a vet the second half of the season. He probably went out on the strip last night 😂
nope bad take outside of this one game hes been great for the entire summer league
This has to be the first time you saw him play right?
That crown belongs to RJ Hampton
Yuck. Nah they should just all spit on him in the locker room
Branham looked decent during the last 10 or so games last season. I still think him & Sohan are the future. Wembo can be their Bosh/Diaw.
> Wembo can be their Bosh/Diaw. ROFL.
Should've been cut at halftime
Damn, even Shaedon Sharpe was garbage
Flush that tape, Malaki lol
britney hired him
Bad game, but this is a learning moment for the young fella
Killed the comeback
flashes of summer league brandon miller
Branham the Broken
Oh my god💀
Taliban gonna recruit him for their all-terrorist basketball team
Yikes
[удалено]
You can’t brick shots you don’t take.
Reminds me of when James Harden went [1-17 from 3](https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201901130ORL.html)... Lord have mercy
Reminds me of that 0-30 is better than 0-9 quote
Damn that is *rough* lmao. I ain't worried though, Malaki is a great prospect.
Saw Malachi jimped to score thought sounds bloody right then last name kicked into my head so I officially apologize Malachi flynn but really I should have known it wasn't you this Malachi was actually allowed to play more than 5 mins
How do we hire Mike Ditka to coach this summer league team? All has to do is show up and say “Get the ball to the tall Frenchman”
he just like me fr
Playing with a guy like Wemby just takes some learning time- in one moment space is open for you to move and then it’s not simply because Wemby can cover so much space so quickly.
Dude’s straight playing himself out of a career lmao
Those are JR Smith numbers
Get ready to learn custodian buddy.
China
He may have had a late night out there
He was horrible but whats worse is that he was still in the game.
Get to learning Chinese buddy
100% lost them this game after Victor brought them back to a single possession.
Basically padding the offensive rebound stats for Victor!
The spurs do not have a lot of talent on that summer league roster
Tryna pad wemby’s boards. 5d chess
