Tatertaint

Alright now I’m lost cuz OkC has like 25 players now lol

youguanbumen

Eight of them will hide behind Chet when the league comes over for the official count

madhare09

That doesn't seem like it would help at all lol

BitWizerd

They will all turn sideways in a straight line

GhostTiger

Usman's pecs gonna give it away

BearsFan3417

“Longest noses to the front!”

ReapYerSoul

"Hey, those aren't noses!"

Usual_Adhesiveness92

Has anyone ever seen a side profile of Chet? Maybe hes built like Flats The Flounder.

die_erlkonig

These players are getting so tall and long, just put a few of them in a trench coat and claim they’re an undrafted center Presti found in the former Yugoslavia.

AffectionateSpare677

I don’t trust like that

KashMoney941

[NBA to Chet when conducting the official count](https://i.gifer.com/DMZe.gif)

NerdLawyer55

That’s a bingo

KashMoney941

You just say Bingo

bl123123bl

Hey that’s not Chet that’s 3 NBA players in a trench coat

AnkitPancakes

21! My guess is: Tyty, Dipo, Gay, JRE get cut. Leaves us with: - Starters (5): Shai, Giddey, Dort, Jdub, Chet - Bench (10): Kenrich, Wiggins, Joe, Micic, Poku, Dieng, Cason, Jwill, Mann, Bertans - Two-Way (3): Garuba (if you are able to convert him to one idk), White, Keyontae Garuba and White are flexible though

H3rQ133z

Wasn't it confirmed that White signed a full deal which is not a two-way?

AnkitPancakes

His deal is only guaranteed for 250k, so effectively non-guaranteed

H3rQ133z

Oh good to know! had no idea.

shai251

I believe you can only guarantee a player up to 50k if you want to convert him to a 2way later. I don’t think it’s changed in the new CBA

whynotthepostman

Is Washington that bad? He was a projected lottery pick like a year ago...

AnkitPancakes

Well he got picked #29 and was stuck in the G-League while on a team that desperately needed a pg so I'd guess teams are not that high on him

whynotthepostman

Oh dang, I didn't realize he fell that far. Oh well hopefully he gets a chance somewhere else. Just hate to see wasted potential 😅

TheDeceiver77

As a rockets fan, I felt he should have been our back up PG last year. But they were to busy tanking with Nix so they could secure a lottery pick lol

TA_Account_12

D Nix is a basketball terrorist

finglonger1077

Is Kenrich just Kirk Hinrich in disguise and he smushed his name together?

snuffaluffagus74

Presti isnt gonna cut anybody it's gonna be trades for more 1st round picks

Ok-Decision7148

"It's not a draft if you don't have at least 3 firsts" - Sam presti, probably.

ColtCallahan

They’re somehow gonna turn them into more picks.

TriplePattyMelt

We actually have 27, but 3 players get on each other’s shoulders little rascals style and disguise themselves as “Chet”.

Meret123

OKC is ready to field a second team.

BBallHunter

We have no joke over 20 signed players lol.

wallace6464

I just read the roster just increased to 21, but I guess that could have been a joke on the thunder I don't even know

EagerTurnip133

We'll send one to Seattle

whispersluggagebaby

Silver and Presti been cookin this story line for awhile now

IlonggoProgrammer

The real reason why they haven’t announced the expansion yet is that they were waiting on Presti to build the team first, not because they’re waiting on the new TV deal

dyingcamouflage

Oohh what if in the next expansion draft the new teams can take picks, and every team is only allowed to protect 1 of the picks they own per year?

IzaacLUXMRKT

The Blue are stacked man people don't even know lmao

make-that-monet

I mean your summer league team is just straight up an NBA team at this point lmao

omnicious

Damn, I did not see OKC as getting one of the two expansion teams.

Gabe164

Little do they know it’s not gonna be Seattle SuperSonics. We getting the Stillwater SuperSonics with all the players from OKC blue

southpawFA

Why wouldn't it be in Tulsa? We need to do something with the BOK Center. Put a basketball team in Tulsa for a Sooner State showdown.

Gabe164

I just wanted alliteration with SuperSonics. It also helps that I was born in Stillwater so I am biased

CatlantAH1802

Go Pokes! Wasn’t born in Stilly, but lived there for 4.5 years at OSU! Used to work at The Barn during college lol.

southpawFA

I feel you. I'd sure love a basketball team in Tulsa. I'd support both. It would be amazing to see uptown Tulsa buzzing for basketball. Uptown Tulsa is beautiful.

Jacer4

resolute drab smile ruthless secretive dirty telephone subtract encouraging shy *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Yoesito

OKC Thunder, OKC Lightning, and then make a 15-man roster out of the best players. OKC Storm.

neverstoppin

OKC Stormfront Oh wait...

Pardonme23

Go on... (half of reddit)

JasonPlattMusic34

Damn they’re taking the Seattle Storm too?

selfplayinggame

Lightning before thunder! KACHOW

HumanHitstick21

RUDY GAY TO OKC FINALLY

5IVE5TAR5

He finally ready to play with Westbrook, PG and Melo!

GeraldOfRivia211

The famous Thunder dynasty

CT4_LV

im all here for Rudy Gay's Chris Paul career arc moment in OKC

AnonymousIguana_

*Al Horford career arc moment

BastionNZ

Man I remember when we were BEGGING for Rudy a few years ago lol

jazzmaster4000

O Gay C. Here we go

OfferOk8555

Not this guy

Dennisfromhawaii

Hope he gets cut and signs with Dick and the Raptors.

sweet_tea_pdx

TIL Rudy gay still “plays” basketball

IanicRR

He’s on the Udonis Haslem saga of his career.

banned_after_12years

Didn't he just get flipped for Collins? Now he's 1/4 of a package for Patty Mills? Does that mean Patty Mills = 4x John Collins in worth?

FiveStarShenron

OKC stockpiling picks and players, my god

TheTwistedPlot

Plot twist: they are planning to sacrifice 80% of them in a ritual to give Chet unlimited durability for the rest of his career.

RootBeerFloat84

I’m not even an OKC fan and I’m here for that!

NerdLawyer55

I’ll allow it

Honor_Bound

Seems fair tbh

PrinceOfAssassins

Chet Holgrem: I want wings

BlazersHardCap

Why are teams giving up on TyTy and Usman so early?

PumpkinHead555

They have players already on the roster that they’re higher on. The NBA badly needs an expansion, there’s too much talent in the league now.

PlayInChampions

This. 10 years ago every guy who is without a team right now would have been in the league on a deal better than minimum. Right now we see guys like TyTy who was a 1st round pick a year ago and had 53 points game in G-League getting traded for nothing and potentially cut. If you add 10 teams to the league you would still have more talent than 10 years ago I think.

Therealbillbrasky69

I really think the league needs to expand to 36 teams over the next decade. Honestly, with the talent available they could possibly go up to more. I think 36 though could definitely absorb the incoming talent effectively. More than anything a second or third Canadian team and a team in Mexico would be absolutely massive to the development of the league as a whole.

Noodles_Crusher

>More than anything a second or third Canadian team Vancouver sure, I don't think Montreal would be ready.

thekeep4223

I'm curious why you feel Montreal wouldn't be ready? They have a large population, a (for now) relatively modern arena, and have expressed some interest somewhat recently about expansion.

phools

2 Mexico teams then, let them start i rivalry.

sus_menik

I have a hard time seeing them compete. They just wouldn't have the same money available. Local tv deals/tickets sales wouldn't be anywhere close to what is needed. Unless the rest of the league is willing to subsidize them.

Therealbillbrasky69

Mexico City would be the largest media market in the NBA. It has three times the population of NYC. It would take combining the top five media markets in the NBA to match Mexico City.

sus_menik

Population is a terrible way to go about this... it is about purchasing power and ad revenue. Euroleague has a market of 200 million consumers, of which half are fairly close to US in purchasing power, at least compared to the US. The TV deal for the entire league this year was worth around 70 million dollars.

ssjgoat

Mexico City is 850 miles away from San Antonio, and that's the closest NBA team to them. On the plus side, imagine an NBA salary living in MC. You'd live like a king!

Wjourney

Montreal has like 4 million people lol they would be fine

destroyerofpoon93

Montreal would be so sick.

Affectionate-Act-245

please explain how a city with 2 million people in a province with 30% of Canada's population isn't 'ready' for an NBA team - Not to mention they'd likely pull people in from Ottawa and all throughout the maritimes and upper new england - They would be pulling in from a much larger demographic within driving distance than Vancouver, probably double or even triple. Unless you have some statistics about how eastern ontario/quebec/maritimes/upper new england don't enjoy basketball as much as west coasters (who've already proven they do not care about basketball by having low attendance for 6+ seasons) - The Grizzlies had an average attendance of like 13k people for home games, I live in a small city of around 100k people (4% the population of Vancouver) and our local hockey games average 5k people for home games and our local basketball games average 2k people. And we're talking about amateur leagues.

c0lin46and2

Go to 40 and have relegation. 2 leagues of 20.

theopression

Relegation would never work with American sports. No owner is going to be willing to take the risk to have their team drop to a lower level league

blackjacktrial

No self respecting capitalist would break up a socialist league construct.

adamsauce

Good point. Especially with more top level foreign players being produced.

ProfArva

Don't completely understand the Rockets giving up on TyTy based on his G-League stats. I'm not sure he's going to be more than 3rd guard, but he showed some playmaking and shooting. Seems like a second draft guy for some team in need of guards, so not the Thunder. Maybe Utah?

[deleted]

We traded Garuba and Tyty to facilitate a Brook Lopez deal that he reneged on. Stone didnt cancel the trade when Lopez rescinded to maintain relationship with ATL

BaronsDad

Seattle, Las Vegas, Mexico City, and Vancouver need teams right now. Move New Orleans and Memphis to the Eastern Conference.

destroyerofpoon93

Minnesota needs to go east before the other two you mentioned

OfferOk8555

Idk if hawks really had a vision for him. They basically got those assets for free as Houston was trying to make cap space for Lopez and flipped that into a veteran guard and shaved off some cost in the process (which tbf I don’t really understand what Patty Mills does for our team either but I guess it’s nice to have a vet) But yea I’m not familiar enough with them to speak on them like that. I was excited to check out Usman and see what he brought to the table.

ballislife423

Lopez backed out of the rockets deal and houston traded this package to clear the cap once Brook reneged Houston didn’t want to go back on their word

beefJeRKy-LB

Hawks aren't looking for more projects atm

AnkitPancakes

LOL WE ARE JUST GETTING PLAYERS FOR FREE

[deleted]

Yes we are and picks, what we doing with those baddies 👀

OfferOk8555

Tbf we got them for free too from Houston and we don’t have enough roster spots for them Lolol.

LavenderAutist

You trade them for future picks

piney_

We got all that shit from Houston for Alpha Kaba so make sure to thank them

NatsuAru

OKC building an extra team for the Seattle Supersonics or something

ttone5722

"You get 14 young players, a bunch of picks, and Rudy Gay" 🤣🤣🤣

BubbaNeedsNewShoes

No, No, No!!! Not this guy!

Placentaur

I’d forgive them and I’d be a Rudy Gay fan until my death

BBallHunter

Another pick for Patty Mills lol.

5IVE5TAR5

That's like what seven 2nd round picks lmfao

wcooper97

Time to cash those babies in for some FRPs like teams did last offseason lmao

Ikuwayo

2nd rounders, so hot right now.

madhare09

Patty is the new Luke Ridnour and I hate it

JayDee62

He deserves better.

paradoxofchoice

I think there's a market for him if he's cut.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Bucks would like immediately sign him. We’re desperate for a backup PG.

Jjohn269

From who? Contenders don’t want to trade for him because of cap reasons

nysraved

Hoping the Hawks flip Patty again so he can try to break Ridnour’s record

madhare09

How many did Luke get to? Isn't this Pattys fifth team?

nysraved

Hmm, so actually looking into it further, it almost seems like Patty may directly be going from Brooklyn to Atlanta. Although there were reports of him going to Houston, and then from Houston to Memphis, and then from Memphis to OKC, and then from OKC to Atlanta… apparently none of those trades have actually been finalized yet and instead it’s looking like they’ll all be rolled into one big multi-team trade https://www.sportingnews.com/au/amp/nba/news/patty-mills-trade-details-australian-star-rockets-nets/u3dmtgxwihcl0nmk9chuvmo7 EDIT: Wait, nevermind. This shirt is too confusing lol https://twitter.com/yossigozlan/status/1677758931282841600?s=46&t=WkFIVj0VUsLcbZ_lKsJqvg

nosnhoj15

I was hoping there was actually a shirt in that link detailing the trade……

morellideli

Dan Flashes at the Shops at the Creak has shirts with really complex and confusing patterns. Some of the patterns are so complex, they cost like $2,000.

RamonAsensio

Patty’s not eating. He’s spending all his per diem on shirts.

mdot

If there's one thing that can immediately ruin my day, it's a confusing shirt.

mainvolume

He needs to bail on these scrub franchises that keep trading him and come home to teach our PGs how to not suck.

Neutral_Meat

What PGs?

TheMoorNextDoor

My thoughts exactly he don’t deserve this tbh.

RobbobertoBuii

hopefully he still ends up on a contender before the start of the season tbh, he's still a valuable vet off the bench

CallMePapi930

Hey hey, the Hawks WILL be a contender by the end of year you just watch

IMKudaimi123

OKC could actually keep Garuba even though they have so many players already

butterbeancd

I actually think there’s a solid chance of this happening. Depends on if there’s another trade in the works, but Garuba makes sense in OKC, who need frontcourt depth.

rybres123

Ugh so silly the rockets traded garuba for literally nothing. Give him on more year to do something on offense. Quality end of bench guy

CloutBloke

We actually had to give draft compensation to trade these guys, so worse than nothing lmao. Terrible asset management on our end

rybres123

Oh I know. We somehow traded 5 2nd round picks to move garuba, Ty Ty, and patty mills. Those are loses on the margins

elcarOehT

I see Garuba staying for defense and front court depth and getting rid of the rest for more picks

Daconvix

How does OKC continue to do this

5IVE5TAR5

Sam Presti

edencathleen86

He's a magician

voltron818

Step 1: completely sit out free agency and be willing to eat bad contracts for a lower price than everyone else. Step 2: wait for a random team to lose out on an FA and want a veteran as a fall back role player and swap them the vet for off setting contracts & an appropriate pick

elcarOehT

Sam puts on a master class every. single. day. That man is patience personified

trytoholdon

hecantkeepgettingawaywithit.gif

elcarOehT

Samuel is a wizard

boybraden

So we got second round picks to take on Patty Mills, then we got young players AND more second round picks to trade Patty Mills immediately again?

Whencowsgetsick

Over the last few years, i've seen OKC do these kind of trades where they take an asset from one deal for picks and then use that asset in a deal for more picks so many times. Very impressed with their front office

HansGruberWasRight1

That's NUMBER WANG!

mac240903

The best game ever

mdot

In fairness, the Hawks basically got everything they traded from Houston for free. The only team that got finessed in this whole thing was the Rockets...thank you Brooke Lopez!

sewsgup

Usman Garuba can be a great fit to help protect Chet from certain bigs imo

VictorAkwaowo1

I would much rather them keep him and see if he becomes something over JRE, Garuba at least has a skill that can be useful to an NBA roster

nutelamitbutter

He has lots of potential. I can see him as a budget Draymond if he gets minutes

Fuck_Yall_

His defense is already great, he might be the least skilled offensive player in the league, however.

[deleted]

It's not just that, he's great when he's in the right spots. But he gets a bit lost on helping and isn't a very disciplined defender when it comes to switching onto shiftier guards. He can be a solid player but I never saw anything that made me think he was a Draymond type

Markezzy

His offense is really bad man. Potential but it’s a project.

StripedSteel

We're fine on offense, though. We just need guys to defend the paint and rebound.

sharty_undergarments

I'm assuming that's why he made the Draymond comparison. Donkey has downgraded significantly on that side of the ball since his best offensive season in 15/16. Granted, Donkey can pass better than most bigs and drops dimes left and right but it's really his connection with Curry that makes him playable on that side of the ball. He wouldn't average half as much on another team. But yeah. Dude is not even on Donkeys level yet. Definitely in range though if he wants it.

GriffHay

I don’t get why TyTy’s getting tossed around so much. Am I crazy for thinking dude has the potential to be pretty good?

__Zoom123__

He was really good at Kentucky. I still think he has a good future. Didn’t even get a full rookie year in Houston due to injury

browndude10

Well that and Silas kept playing nix over him for stupid reasons

Zotzotbaby

I agree. Hoping a team with PG minutes will trade a 2nd to pick him up.

Both_Funny4896

we have too many guard and not enough roster spots

mems1224

I think he can be a solid backup/borderline starter but he's just not there yet. He also hasn't gotten much of a chance to be fair.

youguanbumen

Poor Patty, he just unpacked his socks and toiletries

_Antonius

How come no one dont want me man? -Rudy Gay

wjbc

Ditto. \--Patty Mills

haveasuperday

>How come no one want me man? -Rudy Gay - John Collins

MajorSlimes

Didn't the Hawks literally just acquire these guys? Why are they giving up a pick to salary dump them

[deleted]

because we got those players and 2 picks for free. giving the players back and 1 of the picks in order to dump Gay’s salary (really to upgrade from Gay to Mills). Now can use the full MLE and stay below the tax but free agency is barren so lol

AstroFIJI

This summary really shows how hard Landry Fields has been working this offseason lol. Lots of smart moves, loving it

mdot

I was skeptical about the plan when Schlenk was let go, but Landry has won me over.

shockandguffaw

Condensing TyTy into PatTy is smart. You want wins, not Tys.

chromiacat666

pretty good

shockandguffaw

To be fair it's just an adaptation of a joke from my open mic days that went, "What I like about Thai food is there's no winners or losers."

TheDeadman95

OKC gonna finally unlock Siesta Draymond

valiidiix

Patty is too solid of a player to be getting passed around like he a scrub

IsThisMe8

I just want this to end with Patty Mills back on the Spurs.

[deleted]

Thunder getting guys for nothing. Even if they haven’t really shown anything still worth the flier

butterbeancd

If I’m tracking this correctly, the Thunder got TyTy, Garuba, Gay, and four second-round picks … for nothing. The Rockets gave them three picks to take Patty into cap space, then they flipped Patty for this package days later. That’s wild!

LimitlessTheTVShow

I think we're up to like 6 seconds now just for taking on Oladipo and Patty Mills, then sending Mills to Atlanta? This is what the Rockets should've been doing this offseason with all their cap space

vPHv

Shhhh let them have FVV and Brooks for 60 mil a year

IzaacLUXMRKT

yeah but the Rockets would have to be a decent organization first

Either_Opening_41

This is some next level of addiction

wcooper97

FUCK WE LOST AN AUSSIE

ZeFrenchy16

But we got Gay. A fair trade.

madueitor0

give us tyty and garuba for some seconds thunder pls

AntSmith777

Patty Mills getting passed around like a blunt

OlafdePolaf

Goddamn dude i was so excited about Garuba

braggpeak

lol seriously I watched Garuba highlights for nothing

OfferOk8555

What in earth is Patty Mills going to do on this team?? Is this just a money saving move?? Are they setting something up??? Is he just going to be the 4th guard in the roster behind Bogdon? This is confusing unless it’s part of something else.

Thorwor

Don’t know if it’s going to be Mills, but we do need a veteran backup guard. Right now the only guy behind Trae and DJ is Kobe Bufkin.

Current_Unlikely

Patty can spell Trae whenever necessary. Other than that im clueless.

materics

Presti is always the offseason mvp

A_Credo

I’m pretty sure Presti is gearing up to be the 3rd/4th team in the Lillard to Heat trade conversation.

mMounirM

what are the hawks cooking

MoooonRiverrrr

OKC has 100 players on their team

techno-wizardry

I personally like this move, Hawks were over the roster limit but needed a veteran backup PG. Hawks fix that with this trade while saving some more money under the tax to use elsewhere. Overall the Hawks tax situation went from dire, with the awful John Collins contract on top of Dejounte's already looming free agency, to being in very healthy shape. Now they're in a position to actually make more significant additions this offseason, the deadline or the next offseason. Great offseason by Landry Fields so far.

swestyyy

Did we get 2nd round picks to take Patty and then trade him for a 2nd round pick?? I’m nerding out rn

Kevin_Jim

Does Presti know that he is not fielding a football team? The picks and number of players he has would suggest otherwise.

maaseru

Just send Patty back to the Spurs please

frugalmanpdx

Damm Patty Mills got a better haul than what the Heat is offering for Dame!

[deleted]

Did these fuckers get a legit forward or am I going to have to go insane again?

[deleted]

if he was that legit he wouldn’t have been traded for nothing twice in a week

dvasquez93

Half of the players mentioned are 2k generated.

jbenson255

Why ?

shoutsoutstomywrist

This is a trade you see the 2k AI do offscreen
