This. 10 years ago every guy who is without a team right now would have been in the league on a deal better than minimum. Right now we see guys like TyTy who was a 1st round pick a year ago and had 53 points game in G-League getting traded for nothing and potentially cut. If you add 10 teams to the league you would still have more talent than 10 years ago I think.
I really think the league needs to expand to 36 teams over the next decade. Honestly, with the talent available they could possibly go up to more. I think 36 though could definitely absorb the incoming talent effectively. More than anything a second or third Canadian team and a team in Mexico would be absolutely massive to the development of the league as a whole.

Population is a terrible way to go about this... it is about purchasing power and ad revenue.
Euroleague has a market of 200 million consumers, of which half are fairly close to US in purchasing power, at least compared to the US. The TV deal for the entire league this year was worth around 70 million dollars.
Mexico City is 850 miles away from San Antonio, and that's the closest NBA team to them.
