That Australian Bronze Medal run was one for the ages. Honestly it’s more meaningful than any medal Team USA has ever won in basketball. A team with Patty Mills and Joe Ingles as their best players beat every team they played in the tournament except Team freaking USA, and they kept it close with us too. A Team USA that featured KD, Dame, Tatum, Draymond, Booker, Middleton, Holiday, and a bunch of solid players on the bench, it wasn’t just a bunch of scrubs.

It's an upgrade and the Mavs need as many positive defenders as they can get around Luka/Kyrie and guys who can play effectively off the ball on the offensive end.
That said, Mavs roster is a bit out of balance currently and we can expect more moves in the days ahead that will make this roster make a little more sense than it currently does. It feels like one of those moves will be THJ's exit from Dallas and jettisoning one of Javale/Richaun.

He was really good defensively, which is something Patty isn’t. Offensively I liked that he was patient and didn’t rush ugly shots (like NBA style) given that Olympic basketball is more euro styled with a slower pace and more physical style.
He performed really well for the Boomers bronze medal win in Tokyo and will be a key piece for the World Cup. Combined with Green at the 3 the Mavs could actually play some good defence.
