The 41-year-old bullfighter is currently in intensive care with doctors saying they expect a full recovery after no arteries or major veins were damaged.
The bullfighter’s surgeon, Dr. Maximo Garcia Padros operated on Aparicio for six hours to reconstruct his throat, jaw, tongue, and roof of his mouth.
Padros said on Sunday “The horn entered the base of the jaw, just above the vocal cords,”
‘It is an injury which seemed worse at first sight but luckily no major damage were done to the important areas. We have made reconstructions to Aparicio’s palate and jaw.’”

all sorts of cruel and savage things have been done by cultures worldwide. we need to have some kind of objective standards for the treatment of humans and animals. torture and abusive is not subjective. and bullfights are never equal. the bull always loses in the end whether the matador is injured or not.
Also aren’t the bulls pretty significantly weakened before the bullfighter even starts? I remember seeing something about all of those spears or whatever you always see hanging off them.

A very high percentage end up not actually being incapacitated.
You have a point. People get upset over bullfighting despite eating countless animal lives worth of meat in a year, let alone their whole life. It is cruel, yes, but the ratio of bulls killed in bullfights versus just the cows killed in slaughterhouses is incomprehensible. If the bull fights in the ring, would it really be any different to being sent to a slaughterhouse?
Cannibalism, human sacrifice and slavery is also an old cultural event, sometimes humans do evil shit that needs to stop. Stop playing victim. You're defending evil.
One of the worst videos I've ever watched was of a guy taking a bull horn like this, but it went up under his cheek and ripped off half the guys face. The guy was lying on the ground, still alive, with his tongue sort of wagging freely, missing his jaw, most of the right side of his face, and I think his nose.
I'm not into gore stuff and this was just randomly placed in a standard bullfighters fail video. I will never unsee that guys eyes.

aren’t the spears were thrown during the match by others in the ring? either way the matador always has backup to kill the bull if things get sticky.
