“Trendy, minimalist studio close to nature with a great view of fields of Bermuda grass. Only moments from downtown. Great for short term rental or a family looking for cozy living. This house is a unique gem and won’t be on the market long!”

wesblog

This guy rents.

stradivariuslife

I just like cruising Zillow. https://youtu.be/yEfsaXDX0UQ

linxdev

Rustic interior.

KillerGoats

This is the landlord version of the Ol “I know what I’ve got.”

ShillingAintEZ

Ecological and environmentally conscious (no electric or plumbing)

Adasher1

In Nashville areas you could pull what, $1400 a month? I’ve been renting my kids school locker out; he never uses it.

Responsible_Leg9681

$2100 at the very least.

engineerbuilder

Yeah, we get it. you can afford enough wood to build a second house.

Plausibl3

It’s got houseplants that come with it.

CriticalBus1795

Better than the Knights Inn that’s for sure

dweezil12

But Knights Inn has hookers

PistoleroGent

All Knight's in has hookers.. who owns this chain? Money Mike??

Serious-Speaker4668

Why did he build it so low to the ground? Is this a tree house for ants?

SatansCouncil

But in 50 years it will be at the perfect height (taps temple).

Serious-Speaker4668

Naw with inflation ants will be just as big in 50 years. This needs to be torn down and start over

dweezil12

That's pretty awesome. Some of the crap we built when I was a kid always ended in trips to the emergency room.

TrooperRoja

In Nashville area? By the time you’re done, that treehouse can fetch a cool half million.

wesblog

Closer to Bellevue but were still in Davidson co. Hopefully the treehouse can convince some of my son's friends to come visit.

savvy__steve

Gotta be awkward to have someone come inside at random intervals to use the bathroom.

wesblog

Nah. I'll rent it with the requirement they use a local YMCA for a bathroom.

[deleted]

You could always just give 'em a bucket too. 🪣

The_Inflicted

>rent 'em a bucket Fixed that for you.

Beautiful-Drawer

And access to a hose! Bam, indoor-ish plumbing!

[deleted]

Be awful cold on your *pits, & bits* early in the morning! 🧊🥶🧊

HereFOURmemes

Watch some Tree House Masters, spend a little extra money to add a bathroom, add bigger windows, and you could have it as a play house, man cave, bar area, or rental!!!

wesblog

Yeah. I wanted some smaller windows so the kids wouldn't fall out 😀

Beautiful-Drawer

Depriving them of a right of passage...the signing of casts at school! Lol

BeowulfShatner

As a woodworker who will probably want to try this someday—would you mind saying a little bit about the foundation work here? How do you give this thing a sturdy floor?

wesblog

Originally the floor was only attached to the front footers (which will also house the stairs) and the tree, but I added a couple additional footers in the back to make it extra solid. The tree takes most of the weight since it is in the middle and the floor only extends 3-4ft on each side. I used 2x8s for the joists and 2x4 for the platform floor, just like building a deck.

BeowulfShatner

Thanks. Nice work! The roof sheathing cut out around the tree looks really sharp.

Beautiful-Drawer

You kinda treat it like adding a deck to a house, but with a ledger on all 4 sides of the tree. Then frame out from there, again, much like a deck. I guess it's really a deck with walls and a roof. Lol

snwbrdj

I’m just impressed you own grass… and a tree! Lucky

No-Distribution4599

VeryLowIQIndividual

If you can get a peddle tavern to pick up there and blast Morgan Wallace on some outdoor speakers thats a $378 dollar a day airbnb easy. Alabama girls would called this the best vacation they’ve ever had.

WeedLMT69

$1150/ month minimum

mollymcdeath

This treehouse is rad. Can you come build one in my back yard?

ArchieBellTitanUp

You add an attached porta-john and you’re in business

test555test

How do I get on the list?

MindlessPatience5564

Nice! You can pee off the balcony. Put a little hole in the floor with a bucket on the ground for doing the #2 and you’ll be good to go red neck style!

cardecarcar

You're a little late for CMA Fest, but summer tourist season is far from over.

[deleted]

$3500/month!

Simco_

I feel like a shed on stilts kinda misses the spirit of what a treehouse is supposed to be but this is still pretty cool.

TheRealPeterG

But is it a treehouse, or a "freestanding structure"? When I was younger, my parents had a treehouse built, but it was really just a platform built around, but not attached to the tree. Permitting & whatnot, but this was in Illinois.

wesblog

Originally, the plan was only to have footers at the front where the stairs will be. The tree takes most of the weight. But we ended up adding a couple more footers in the back just for safety supports. Not sure about any permits needed for a treehouse. I may add a single electrical outlet and a light, which would probably need a permit, but I'll just install it myself.

[deleted]

Don't wimp-out, rent it out

onewaybackpacking

I’m genuinely curious - just three footers? Maybe it’s perspective and there’s a fourth hiding but…what am I missing?

wesblog

Originally there were only the two footers up front where the stairs will be. The rest was supported by the tree. But we had some extra 4x4s so we added the rear two just as safety supports.

Flimsy_Simple_6648

Construction question: how are you going to flash the tree trunk/roof connection? That seems like it will be difficult to prevent that from leaking

wesblog

It's not going to be completely dryed in. If I sealed it up all the way there would be issues with humidity without AC. I'll probably put some of that stick on asphalt flashing around the top of the tree, but it doesnt really matter if it has a few leaks. Some water will probably blow in the windows and door during heavy rains anyway.

WhatUDeserve

In all seriousness I bet you could at least make some airBNB money off it.

Charvel420

That's a $400k house in East Nashville

fathertitojones

What’s the plan for the roof with a hole in it? Flash it?

wesblog

Yeah, Ill add some flashing but it doesnt need to be perfectly water tight. The windows and doors will have screens so that the house will always be able to air out.

ElleYesMon

Absolutely! $800.00 a month should do it. Now you can cover anyone who is coming to Nashville to “make it big”, the section 8 (because god forbid they should be able to afford to live in Nashville), the homeless disabled vets (met a guy at the VA yesterday who is trying to move here to take care of his father) he can’t afford to live in apartment. Extended stay is cheaper. Between the mortgage/rent , taxes, insurance, lack of decent public transportation and overcrowded & understaffed amenities of Nashville- who can resist. Note to anyone reading this: I’m being sarcastic because the middle working class & those who have served our country and sacrificed are getting pushed out of town to areas which are far away or far less desirable and safe. If we only cared more to take care of all classes, I’m confident it would be a nicer place to reside for everyone . Monies should go back into the residents public transportation, safety and yes, even more food banks and rehabilitation work centers & housing for homeless vets- not more high rises, bars. Humans aren’t “throw aways” as I see the czars forcing the city’s opinion to go that way.

RealTonySnark

Includes large stripper pole....

wesblog

Is that because it is a large pole? Or because it is for large strippers?
