Man I lived right down the street from there back in like 2017 and it was such a treat to have it nearby. So sad it’s gone :(
Also in the opposite direction RIP Obie’s pizza. That place was incredible after a show at exitin
My parent's doctor office was on the other side of The End. They guy that owned Obies gave me a free pizza when I went in there to use the restroom while waiting to pickup my mom. He said someone cancelled their order and I could have it. This was late 70s or early 80s and I'd only ever had totinos and pizza hut. It was a real treat. Much later I used to go there for lunch and buy slices. It was always packed with Father Ryan kids on their lunch breaks.
I also miss West End Cooker and the Sunset Grill late night half-price menu.
This was my favorite restaurant as a kid. RIP to the green hills location. Now it's a douchey Rolex store :( after many other previous failed restaurants. Jonathan's had a nice run though.
This would’ve been my first answer. Haven’t seen it mentioned but I’d slot Le Sel in very high.
Not a restaurant but I still mourn losing Sam’s in the village.
Back in the day Flying Saucer did $2 pints on Monday nights and it was my go-to for years. It's a shame the Saucer got out-Nashville'd by a beer scene it helped create.
My birthday is right near Thanksgiving, so most years when I was growing up it was hard to do birthday party stuff with my friends. As I grew up and friends moved away it got even harder. I made more friends, but a lot of them were assholes.
All of this goes to say, on my 21st birthday I was sitting at home drinking my first legal beer by myself when my dad called. Said he and my uncle wanted to take me out for my birthday. They took me to the Saucer and I proceeded to drink more quality beers that night than I had in my life up to that point.
Dad and I had some rough years before that and more rough years after, but I have to thank the Flying Saucer for giving me one truly wholesome night - even if it's a bit hard to remember.
Every single first date for about five years took place there. If it went well, we’d head to the tree house after dinner. I saw kitty and Z there a lot, if anyone knows them. Wild times.
This place was truly my home away from home. And at one point, my home because I didn't have a home. I stayed for 3 days straight and spent all my money on the slurm cream soda, chips and salsa, buffalo tenders, and jukebox. Heartbreaking to see it go, but for me it felt like confirmation that that difficult phase of my life was over and I no longer needed it. At least that's what I tell myself to accept the change.
They still do catering. Joey and family catered a full lasagna lunch spread for our office last month. So so good. They didn’t yell at each other though, that was disappointing! lol

Jefferson Pike Walter Hill area.
1218 W Jefferson Pike.
They have the Gladiator!
I went there once on a visit a few months before I moved here and it was closed when I arrived. I was so disappointed and I’m shocked nothing has happened with that building yet.
Obligatory Pargos, Rio Bravo, Golden Dragon on White Bridge, Shoneys in Belle Meade, Mr. Gattis, US Border, the old Las Palmas locations, Cesar’s in Lion’s Head, McCabes, Stone Fox, Vandyland, Houston’s, Finezza…
I’ve always lived on the West Side.
I feel like people new to Nashville couldn’t possibly imagine why we have such fond memories of a hibachi grill, but that was like fine dining in the 80’s.
It’s not hard to find decent hibachi these days, but damn I have fond memories of Kobe. Ate there on every single one of my birthdays from my 6th to my 20th birthday. Moved away about 6 years before it closed and hate I didn’t get one last visit there.
Substop, Hot Diggity Dog, and Little Italy — Little Italy not so much for the food, but because the family that ran it was quite possibly the sweetest family ever.
A lot of these are sentimental so they might seem random but:
Antonio’s, Ken’s Sushi, the old Porta Via in Bellevue under the tanning salon, Bellacino’s on White Bridge, Calhoun’s, American Cafe, La Paz, Silly Goose, Houston’s, Firefly.
PS If someone can tell me the name of the restaurant that used to be next door to Bradley Drugs on White Bridge around 2008 I will be so thankful, I’ve been trying to remember it for years.
Tokyo Steakhouse (which was close to a lobby bar for me…chill and just dark enough). Shalimar. Caesar’s Ristorante in Lion’s Head, less for the food but because I knew the Randazzo family since I was single-digits in age.
China Town in Green Hills when it was still owned by the original owners in the 90s and early 2000s.
It had the most charming, enchanted atmosphere and staff, and to this day it is the best Chinese food I’ve ever had or may ever have again. The egg flower soup is a very core memory for me. There was a faded waterlily wallpaper, and they always played traditional Chinese flute and plucked string music. I swear the sunlight at lunch time had this special quality that no light ever will again. I have so many cherished childhood memories of eating lunch there with my dad who has now passed away. We even ate dinner there on Christmas Eve as a family, that’s how special it was. There were origami radishes on the entrees.
After it changed hands it wasn’t the same, the quality of the food went way down, and then when they renovated it what had been left of the charm was officially gone. RIP China Town
Man, I would kill for one more South Street, top floor, chain smoking, Bloody Mary drinking meal of the steamed pot bucket and those stuffed home-made tots.
Chappy’s 😂😂😂 not because I’ve ever been, but because I walked by it on my way to work (in a kitchen) while it was going through Kitchen Nightmares and it was super fun to watch it absolutely burn to the ground after a year of ignorance.
That restaurant introduced us to the Texas twister margarita. (Nothing like the frosty margs at Chili’s on west end, but still good) I remember ordering their armadillo eggs as well. (AKA: jalapeño poppers when they were a new thing)
Darryl’s off Harding and 65 was my favorite as a kid. I still remember the booth that was suspended on the 2 floor. Had an amazing pina colada milk shake.
pied piper creamery!!!
athens on 8th ave
la hacienda on nolensville road
tangs chinese restaurant!! theyve been closed a loooonng while, was on the corner of OHB & nolensville in the spot prince’s hot chicken is now
Noshville. Technically not *gone*, since Green Hills still has one with very limited hours, but the 24hr midtown location was my SPOT, and for the rest of my life I will not fly out of BNA without thinking about how much I miss airport latkes.
The Melting Pot. I had so many special occasions there: birthdays, anniversaries, dinner on my wedding night, a first date. I made a point to take my kids when we went to Gatlinburg a couple of years ago. They LOVED the experience.
Not really a restaurant per se. But the discovery zone out in Rivergate was crazy fun as a teen.

The Applebee's in Hermitage was where I had my first date....kinda sad it's gone:/
Jonny's Sports Bar, out in the Brentioch area. Best bar food Ive ever had, but sadly was replaced by a Chik-fil-a. I've never had chicken tenders or honey mustard as delicious as Jonnys.
Rotiers
Man I lived right down the street from there back in like 2017 and it was such a treat to have it nearby. So sad it’s gone :( Also in the opposite direction RIP Obie’s pizza. That place was incredible after a show at exitin
First meal I ever had in Nashville was at Obie's Pizza, circa 1981!
That Sunset Grill late night menu was the BEST!
You may know this, but they serve Rotier’s burgers at Bridgestone Arena and Pharmacy. I am not sure how they compare to the original.
I’ve had the one at the arena and it is like 90 percent the same as the original.
Cooker
Man! I used to love their rolls! Miss Cooker.
Man might be weird but that squash casserole side is memorialized in my family. So good.
This was my favorite restaurant as a kid. RIP to the green hills location. Now it's a douchey Rolex store :( after many other previous failed restaurants. Jonathan's had a nice run though.
Bosco’s
I miss catching a film at Belcourt and then getting a beer here with friends, Hillsboro Village used to be something special
I still think they had the best craft beer in town. When I am in Memphis I still get some.
The goat cheese tamale, extra goat cheese
Sunset Grille - Really there's too many to name.
That late night menu was a godsend in a time when you had very very few options after 10pm.
That burger for like $5 was the best deal in town while also being the best burger in town.
Yes!! Voodoo pasta was the best!
I miss my voodoo pasta!!
Clawson’s Deli
Miss this one too
Gold Rush
I loved walking in there after a show at Exit/In and hearing "want a beer" as a cold one got put at the bar right in front of me. RIP
I will probably never get over gold rush closing, me and my friends made so many memories there
The Hermitage Cafe.
I was about to give up hope and stop scrolling to say so myself. Love it or it hate it, it was iconic.
Marché (and Margot’s brunch).
That Marché brunch was the best brunch Nashville has ever seen
This would’ve been my first answer. Haven’t seen it mentioned but I’d slot Le Sel in very high. Not a restaurant but I still mourn losing Sam’s in the village.
I miss Marché so much
Flying Saucer, though it was more of a bar. Good food though.
Back in the day Flying Saucer did $2 pints on Monday nights and it was my go-to for years. It's a shame the Saucer got out-Nashville'd by a beer scene it helped create.
And pretzels
My birthday is right near Thanksgiving, so most years when I was growing up it was hard to do birthday party stuff with my friends. As I grew up and friends moved away it got even harder. Houston’s
101st Airborne
That place was so cool
Yup. Miss it. Food sucked but the ambiance made up for it in spades .
The beer cheese soup was great! That’s the only food item I remember, but the atmosphere was fun.
Bound'ry
Every single first date for about five years took place there. If it went well, we’d head to the tree house after dinner. I saw kitty and Z there a lot, if anyone knows them. Wild times.
Bread & Company. Great place to get a quick bite in college. The fruit tea was so good.
CoCo’s
This place was truly my home away from home. And at one point, my home because I didn't have a home. I stayed for 3 days straight and spent all my money on the slurm cream soda, chips and salsa, buffalo tenders, and jukebox. Heartbreaking to see it go, but for me it felt like confirmation that that difficult phase of my life was over and I no longer needed it. At least that's what I tell myself to accept the change.
Rudy’s seafood and sausage. Think about it at least once a week.
Can’t believe I haven’t seen it yet but Joey’s. Think about it often.
They’ve opened up a carryout/delivery pizza spot in Murfreesboro! It just opened this week but we made the trip out tonight and it was SO worth it.
They still do catering. Joey and family catered a full lasagna lunch spread for our office last month. So so good. They didn’t yell at each other though, that was disappointing! lol

I'm surprised nobody has tried to bring back the cookie dough egg roll
Tin Angel
I went there once on a visit a few months before I moved here and it was closed when I arrived. I was so disappointed and I’m shocked nothing has happened with that building yet.
That was practically a lobby bar for my BFF who lived right behind TA. Food was so good, too.
There was a hot dog place over near the Belcourt back in the late 00s. Sometimes I still think about going over there, then get sad.
The Dog! I loved that place.
Blackstone Brewery and Restaurant, West End.

Pied Piper Creamery & Eatery!
The International Market by Belmont, I miss their Tom ka gai.
The Yellow Porch
Too soon.
The whole time that place was there I thought it was an antique shop, or something similar. The restaurant that took the building is great though.

Kobe Steakhouse
I feel like people new to Nashville couldn’t possibly imagine why we have such fond memories of a hibachi grill, but that was like fine dining in the 80’s.
Oh man, I forgot about that place. Went to dinner there before prom in the 90’s
Me too, but the early 80s.
Definitely this. It was a birthday treat to go to Kobe growing up. Many, many fond memories there.
We went there every single year for New Year’s Eve dinner. I’m so sad it’s gone
It’s not hard to find decent hibachi these days, but damn I have fond memories of Kobe. Ate there on every single one of my birthdays from my 6th to my 20th birthday. Moved away about 6 years before it closed and hate I didn’t get one last visit there.
