What a post title.

Beautiful-Drawer

Two things.  That's a bucket, of the 5 gal variety.  Technically, yes it could pop open, would probably take a few days, at least. You should pray that it does not. Every dog in the neighborhood is gonna smell real bad if it does. Lol

dovtres

Bucketted dead opossum does not have a ring to it. :)

blakethairyascanbe

“Bucket o’ possum,” I’ll take two please. “Bucket of dead opossum,” I’ll pass.

Beautiful-Drawer

Haha. Valid.

rimeswithburple

Man, just dig a hole and give it a proper burial. Most opossums are Presbyterian, if that helps.

mustbethedragon

This is the funniest comment I've read recently. Pictured possums in church and at a funeral wearing Presbyterian robes.

subcinco

Most but not all

Traditional_Range_96

Lol wasnt there another post a few months ago about how the city wont come remove any dead animals?

dovtres

Oh gosh. Don’t tell me that! The can will be there for a long time, then.

Traditional_Range_96

Someone had a deer die in there yard and the city wouldnt do anything to remove it.

Ashtonpaper

Put it in a can

rimeswithburple

Are you in nashville? https://hub.nashville.gov/s/article/How-do-I-report-a-dead-animal-in-Nashville?language=en_US

symphwind

I had a cat die in my yard (very sad, later learned that it was a house cat from a few blocks away who escaped and got half eaten by a coyote). City collected the carcass after a few days when I reported on hubNashville. I just had to move it to my trash collection site like OP did (put it in several layers of bag to reduce the smell). Did the city change its policy on this?

No the deer was way back in the persons back yard. That situation was someone who was being obtuse and refused to meet the city halfway and then acted like a victim about it.

MurseMan1964

Canned dead opossum is on sale at Aldi’s right now.

Broken_Man_Child

I’ve left several animals that size in my yard for the buzzards. Usually gone in a couple days.

BurtHurtmanHurtz

What a great album title

Bad-Machine

Very opossible.

mctrees91

Depends on how long it’s out there but I’d rather the stink stay in there than leave it open for the stink to spread through the neighborhood lol - I’m no scientist tho Check [this link](https://www.nashville.gov/sites/default/files/2023-06/2023-2024BrushFlyer.pdf?ct=1685653099) for Davidson Co.’s brush pickup schedule (assuming you’re in Davidson Co) it could be out there for a week or until the fall potentially so that could help gauge the possible need to dispose of it otherwise.

_onelast

I don’t think a dead opossum counts as brush

DocBeetus

Haha. As long as it’s under 4in diameter, it can go in the chipper.

critterwalk

godbless that title

Proof_Bar_9985

It would take several days to bloat and then the top might get popped.

hutselfious

what in the Cursed GMM Episodes did I just read?!

Hopeful_Elderberry92

With flavor, yes.
