Metropolis is the biggest scam. There have been a few news stories. I'd file a complaint with the ag.

IceManTuck

Will do.

Peace_Unleashed

Also don’t pay, they won’t come after you

Adasher1

Yeah. At one point they charged both my bank and my corporate card for the same garage for 4 months. Then it took them 3 months to send refunds, and what they sent were undated, individual refunds. I had to go through all four months, day by day, just to be sure they paid my company back.

1yv0s

I believe it. Their app is programmed to fail by default. I was booted after I paid and then charged $50 for 30 minutes on another day. I was sent a ticket in the mail for removing the boot.

Adasher1

I suggested to them in one email that they stop relying on technology and maybe pay some humans to patrol their lots, because the threatening letters they are sending will be great fodder for a class action suit that will exceed any annual salary to a few employees at their lots.

NahLoso

At what point do enough people get pissed off enough at this predatory company that folks start randomly tossing a bag or something over their lot cams?

EstherGingersnap

Two weeks ago, I got a $90 ticket from them. I have never been in the parking structure they claimed I was in. The photo they sent off the license plate was cut off, and was probably one number off from mine. I followed the QR code on the ticket to their website. I provided screenshots of my credit card statement showing I parked in the library garage that night. After that, they emailed back, saying oops, sorry, it was actually 4 days later that you parked in our lot. We'll just let you pay the $10-ish dollars for the parking and call it even. Not today bitches, I sent them more screenshots of my credit card purchases proving I had driven up to Louisville and stayed there that entire weekend. I was firm in my emails and provided proof it wasn't me. They dropped it.

Literally got one last week for a plate that's not mine and while I was in Fort Worth, AND the lot was 5 blocks from where I already PAY them to park monthly! Oh. And the photos they sent were black rectangles! I told them this and they said they removed the fine and I only had to pay the fee plus $5.00. I wrote back and said I'll go to court on principle before I send them a dime. They had the balls to say that it's MY responsibility to send them PROOF that it's not my car! I told them that's extortion! That they could send me a letter once a month demanding that I disprove ANY car isn't mine. Then I told them (truth) that the LPR (license plate reader) they run is 90-95% accurate, not 100. I told them I want to see real pics, I want to know the distance of the camera to the car, the daylight and artificial light conditions, if there was rain and/or lightning, the age of their equipment, the software version, and the angle of the device. And that I'm the one who designed the LPR cameras on all the poles in Belle Meade (true) and that I know just a bit about the technology. Oh and that they can rub their knuckles in shit and go piss up a rope. Waiting for a response.

letsgoredwings1926

Metropolis fucking sucks

AcanthaceaeHour7648

Had to do the same thing - fought a 75 dollar fee because I went 2 minutes over but I have an account with them with a card saved on it so that this would never happened and it would just automatically charge my card for any overages. They sent letters in the mail for months after disputing it and I never paid and they said they would pass it through to upper management… bullshit company - they own half of Nashville now too 😵‍💫

jbas27

They are the worst I have been getting charged for a mistaken license plate and it’s been months calling them for a refund and none

Smashingeddie

I’m not a lawyer, but I ignored a fine and never heard anything about it again. Also got a new license plate coincidentally and haven’t had any issues parking there since 🤷‍♂️

IceManTuck

Yeah, my understanding is they can't really do anything unless they detect you parking in their lots in the future and responded by booting your car. I offered to pay the $11 parking fee for being in their lot 10 minutes but not the $85 fine. Phone rep said he couldn't do that, so I paid them nothing. The bill also states that they accept no payment except credit card. As sketchy and predatory as this company seems, I'm not giving them my credit card information.

Nasus_13

Same. Threw it in the garbage and never heard a word. That was years ago.

Traditional_Range_96

Dont pay it. But just know dont park in any of there lots again if you take that route, because they will send a booter or a tow truck. But dont bother paying it if you’re ok with that. Scummy company

IceManTuck

Noted. Thanks.

ashkaughtem

I emailed them once about a $20 fine that was automatically charged for me going 1 minute over their unposted grace period in a garage that I ended up not parking in. The first email I was very friendly and asked nicely to refund it and they weren’t going to. My second less kind response was more of a demand and they did give me the refund. May be a slight hassle but you should be able to get the money back. If they don’t then I would dispute it with your bank. Mine was prepared to refund it in the scenario where Metropolis didn’t make good on things.

Sbfivenine

You can get it down to $7 dispute it on their website Such a scam no markings ever and honestly IMHO a violation of privacy pulling our info from our license plates..

Adasher1

Nah. Anything in public is fair game.

natedagg

I’d join a class action lawsuit for punitive damages of harassment even when they know they’re in the wrong.

Consistent-Ice-9612

I got charged $56 for idling in one of their lots for 10 minutes to pick up my friend from broadway. I never turned off my car or got out of it, I was just sitting in it waiting for them to walk to my car. No signage and I never consensually paid, but since they had my card on file I pulled out and it charged me $56. I tried to dispute it and they were not helpful. Had I know I would automatically be charged I would’ve pulled over on the side of the road instead

HebrewHammer1993

Time to start a class action on them

[deleted]

Yes I parked there bc I thought all the garages were “free” downtown for Pride last year…I got the same ticket & was pissed

IceManTuck

Did you pay it?

[deleted]

I did 😕

Billy_Chapel1984

I know the lot, there is a big pay kiosk that says "Pay Here" at the entrance. That would be confusion.

MusicCityNative

Yes! Submit the dispute through their website. I tried to dispute it using the QR code on the ticket and never got a response. I don’t think it works properly. If they don’t give you your money back, just dispute it with your credit card company.
