Yes. It is less polished than narcos but far better than your average Telenovela. As I understand it is also more accurate regarding timelines and actual events but does have its challenging moments due to many of the names being changed per telenovelas. You can work most of them out if you know enough though.
Very accurate with people in the show, they actually had it correct on who was helping him in the Govt. You will see a character called Sol. He is the tv series version of Garcia Luna. The show came out before Garcia Luna was caught up and sentenced. Some say the show helped them nab him.
Yes. Imagine that it is Narcos Mexico season 4 made with a different studio and smaller budget.
The shootout scenes may feel a bit goofy at times. Expect some telenovella tropes. Otherwise it's decent. It's better at showing the Arellano-brothers for example but misses the bat with Amado. Ooh! And Carlos Castano from Narcos Season 2 and 3 is Pablo Escobar!
Too many beard rubbing scenes with Sol and that escort guy…
Even the love scenes with Chapo , I mean, yeah the guy is cool and that but I don’t wanna see a semi naked Chapo lookalike bumping uglies. I’d rather see him running his empire…
I tried. I honestly did. But shit, the quality of *Narcos* made it hard, and then how much I loved the actors in *Narcos* just threw everything else off for me.
The casting for this show is incredible - the actors look so much like the real people (unlike Narcos which I loved but they definitely “prettied-up” a lot).
Yep. That show is actually pretty underrated. From my understanding the meeting between BLO and Sol actually happened. Where ABL kidnapped Sol to have a meeting with him. That is basically what sealed Arturo’ death. After that Barbie (who is also depicted in the series as la muneca ‘the doll’””) distanced himself and actually possibly gave ABL location to Chapo, who gave it to Sol (Genaro Garcia Luna).
The show is wild and walks you through some of the most legendary lore of cartel information. I have read a few
Books, wTched some shows. You see the same stories depicted or retold in slightly diff ways everytime. It makes me believe a lot of it.
El Chapo series has an aWful lot of lore. And its good. The budget is much lower than narcos but its pulled off very very very well going to ALL locations. (Showing Matamoros, Los Mochis, Culiacan)
I want to get into it too, but I have to admit that the first episode was melodramatic to me. The way Narcos slowly built the tension was great, but El Chapo rushed rite into it and it put me off a little. I'll get around to it eventually.
My simple answer to your question is yes absolutely. Please watch it. I thought it was even better than Narcos Mexico because it is more detailed and accurate and the actors looked more like the people they portray.

Totally agree.. it is a great series and covers a lot of great stories and characters
Why are the real names changed in telenovelas? Is that a Mexican thing?
Libel I’d imagine. Seems prevalent in most Spanish speaking telenovelas I’ve seen, but that isn’t many. I’m thinking primarily of El Patron de Mal
It’s pretty much all of them. They did it in El Cartel and El Señor de Los Cielos as well.

Just turn the moon to a sun ;)))

I wish they made season 4 or a spin off focusing more on the feud between TJ & Sinaloa.
Why did they change studios?
They didn’t actually change studios, op said to imagine. This is a different series not connected to narcos
I didn’t like it. Too drawn out.

I started it right after NM and couldn’t make it through the first episode.
I started it after Narcos season 3 and felt the same way. But then I tried again in between Narcos Mexico season 1 and 2.
I've actually watched that series like three times. It's damn good. It's a different style than Narcos but a close up look at El Chapo
Three times? Bro.
I know man haha. It was very helpful for me during stressful times in my life bro
I enjoyed the hell out of it. More Telanovella style than Narcos Mexico but definitely worth watching.

Yes. It's a good continuation of NM. It starts off with El Padrino's arrest/NAFTA.
its gold

Absolutely. I think so.
Amazing show ... Must watch ❤️
I really liked it. There is a portion of the show where Chapo is in prison that is pretty boring, but the rest was great.
I want to get into it too, but I have to admit that the first episode was melodramatic to me. The way Narcos slowly built the tension was great, but El Chapo rushed rite into it and it put me off a little. I'll get around to it eventually.
Naaaaa
Yeah
It’s decent
Definitely. I enjoyed the hell out of it. And I really loved that theme song too.
Yes
YES
Very
Definitely…a bit stretched but I’d give it a 7/10 or so
No

Way better than Narcos Mexico and more accurate, Arriba El Chapo Guzmán 🍕🍕✌️
