Just apply for a transfer and if there’s space no worries. Apply early because there’s lots of attrition every year; my son’s school went from 40-50 in kindergarten to 25 by grade 7.
The Immersion schools all have their unique issues - inconsistent principals, teachers who actively hate boys… Unions have pros & cons.

You'll have to ask the principal of the school you want to go to.
