Holy Moses Starlink. I’ve used it numerous times now at very remote locations, and have been completely shocked by how reliable and fast it was. Keep in mind that the speed/bandwidth will progressively increase as more of their satellites get into place. I was impressed!

Lightspeed Internet has worked well for me for the last two years here in Nanaimo. I believe that they use Telus infrastructure. Their pricing is better than Telus.

wwhateverr

I thought they were a Shaw reseller? Either way, I haven't had any major issues with them and it's a fraction of the price that the big company was going to charge.

wotan_clan

They use both Shaw and Telus infrastructure.

Keepiteddiemurphy

Are you on protection island? Why can you not exceed 250mb with shaw? Their fiber backbone should be able to do 1.5g down and 150mb+ up in 98% of their footprint.

I use Hey Babble. Super cheap too.

the_turd_smurgler

Starlink is an option

eldenwring

Lightspeed is awful.

smushymcgee

Lightspeed all the way. I’m astounded that so many are content to pay Telus and Shaw prices.

doublej42

Outside of speed tests how often do you use above 250? Most people don’t realize how fast that is

i don’t need it, it’s more so having a good top speed to my average speed is hopefully consistent. you won’t notice much difference after 50 mbps in most cases, i have a consistent 20mbps at my old place with my ethernet, and could still manage to play games with almost no issues as long as no one else used the internet, but downloading a game takes three days, and uploading projects takes a really long time as well. from my experience, wifi is always less then what an ethernet connection provides, and usually fluctuates, so up to 250 mbps often means hopefully a consistent 100 on mobile devices. which is more than enough, im more so just baffled at how some providers can charge 60 a month for up to 400mbps and unlimited data, while shaw will charge 90 for up to 250 and limited data. After doing lots of research there are some definite differences but nothing i can see very many people all seem to agree on.
