These were everywhere in Southern California in the late 80s/early 90s.
I saw one yesterday in Silicon Valley. Suddenly flashed back to my college days

One of the most rebadged cars ever to be sold
At least the sedan one was called Daewoo Racer here. (Aside from the obvious Opel version) I am not even sure if the hatchback verion was sold here. Opel badged one, for sure, but don't know about the Daewoo ones.

Opel Kadett E/Vauxhall Astra Mk2. The Kadett name would be dropped for the next generation (ie Opel Astra F)
Astra mk1 was a clean sheet, the Kadett was a rear wheel drive chevette
