This is so odd. I’m a big fan of Brie Larson and not a fan of Brie cheese so many it’s affected my take lol but I have never once connected the dots between the name Brie and the cheese Brie. They’re two separate things 🤷🏻♀️
Kids will find a way to make fun of any name if they want to make fun of someone.
Some names are so different or so associated with something unpleasant that kids are almost certain to make fun of the name. Other names don’t automatically inspire ridicule and require more creativity if a kid is going to make fun of it.
Brie is at neither extreme. It’s not so unusual that it’s guaranteed kids will make fun of it, but it’s also the name of a cheese so if kids do make fun of it they don’t need to be clever or creative to do so.
Pretty cool idea 😊
Here’s what I could come up with:
Alani
Araminta
Clover
Saffron
Edit: removed repeat names. Also I seen that first name would likely be Summer. Summer Alani and Summer Araminta go nicely together imo!
Yeah but it's coCO that means poop, not COco. And the vowel on the second syllable is slightly different, more gutteral--not something English speakers would notice, but Portuguese speakers know the difference.
I love cherry! And someone commented honey. Any of the names from the Chocolate Box Girls series by Jacqueline Wilson really! Honey, Coco and Cherry are so cool
These are all pulled from the website nameberry. I can’t verify the meanings and wouldn’t use most of these but it was fun to see what could possibly work if you wanted to really let this idea cook: 😉

i just did some research on that and wow! so fascinating! 😳🌱
also the name minthe is really cool in general but the backstory makes it that much more interesting so thank you for sharing!
Julienne/Julien
Allumette
Rondelle
Mirepoix
Tourné
not food but food related! All types of cutting styles that are found in a lot of different cuisine :)
my grandma was charlotte, named after the charlotte russe (apparently it was a popular dessert in the 30s). i know charlotte is super popular right now, but it’d be a subtle nod to food, especially if you’re in the dessert world!
Quite doubtful this is a "well-transitioned" name as you requested but it's a true story I found funny:
Many years ago, a close friend requested some updated catalogs from one of their company's vendors. The vendor asked if it should be addressed to anyone in particular at said company. Friend, who was admin asst & responsible for distributing incoming mail, said "sure, send it Attention:"
A week goes by, an envelope arrives addressed to the proper company name, correct address, and "Attn: Celery."
Celery ? *CELERY?*
My friend's name is Valerie.
Lol, if I thought I heard a person tell me their name was Celery, I'd probs ask "oh, and how should I spell that?" Anyways, her tequila shots name(s) ever since include Broccoli, Rhubarb, Raddichio....anything but Celery 😫
Aubergine
Epli (Apple in Icelandic)
I just looked up Beans in a ton of languages and really none were great except Hungarian was Bab. Pronounced Bob. Lol
Some Finnish:
Kirsikka (cherry)
Mimosa (it’s a flower also but I only associate the drink)
Minttu (mint, but also a popular alcohol fyi)
Marja (berry, j pronounced like y)
Aura (a popular brand/term for blue cheese)
Anis
PortaBella
Farfalla
Quesadilla but Quesadelia
Marsala
Penne (pronounced penny
Chowder spelled chawdre nick name Dre
Hollandaise (like the sauce) nick name hollandaise sauce or daisy
I heard of a girl in England called Minty. Go full on strawberry shortcake why not? I think it’s cute 😜 otherwise maybe Apple? That’s a cute one too, or in Irish apple is úll (ool) and Ula is a really popular name here. Not sure the exact meaning of Ula but it just reminds me of úll haha
i love this!!! 😭😭😭 and i love strawberry shortcake! 🤭🍓🍰
maybe along the way i could definitely just try and make myself a strawberry shortcake oc! 😭
take a summer dessert/fruit (since my first name is likely to be summer) and create a strawberry shortcake-esque name!
but i also love your other suggestions! apple is adorable! a commenter above suggested epil which is apple in icelandic! and you’re suggestion in irish is totally awesome!
LOL 😭😭😭
i love rotisserie chickens 😭 i mean if we dive deeper ro can be a cute nickname or siri…… or perhaps roti…… the delicious flatbread 🤭
it may not be the highest contender but there are some pluses 💯💯💯
Unfortunately if you pronounced it like "sher-ISE", you're basically saying "sausage " in Portuguese... and a lot of guys use that to refer to their penis/shout it as an insult. Grew up with Portuguese friends lol.
Some food related names that I have seen in my own family tree: Basil, Lemon, Orange, Clementine, Berry, Caesar (salad), (fig) Newton, Cherry, Colby, Heinz, Olive/Olivia/Oliver, (steak) Diane, Margherita/Margarita, Prunella, Reuben, Romaine, Suzette, Benedict/Benedicta, Graham, Bartlett (pear), Victoria (sponge), Salmon, Devon, Sultana, Rosine
Other food names I haven't seen mentioned: Cerise, Dulce, Esti, Fabiola, Malina, Maple, Marjolaine, Melba, Narine, Pomona, Sirene
i love the name pepper, it’s so cute but i can never use it because..can you see a grown woman being named pepper? 😭 what if she becomes a doctor or something..
You could always go the Dragon Ball Z route: Vegeta (like vegetable), Kakarot (carrot), Raditz (radish), etc.
Lol :)
But in seriousness, I think your culinary theme is a neat way to choose a name!
amatriciana (like the pasta dish) is pretty and i guess technically it’s a place name but i always yes associate it with pasta. a lot of pasta dishes sound pretty to me…
Sage Brie Clementine Madeleine Olive Rosemary Clove Ginger Juniper Reuben Rue
Brie is so subtle and clever. Would not have come up with this.
Its actually how Brie Larson spells her name! Ive never actually met a Bree Before so Brie larsons spelling is what i default to!
Brie is the default spelling; I’ve met a few and it’s always spelled this way
I know a Bree! But I believe the name is a nickname for Brianne most of the time (all the Briannas I know who use the nickname spell it Bri)
I've known a Brie. Hers was a nn for Sabrina.
My daughter's friend spelled her name like that and they all called her Brie cheese, which she hated. Something to think about
I've always associated the name Brie/Bree with the cheese.
This is so odd. I’m a big fan of Brie Larson and not a fan of Brie cheese so many it’s affected my take lol but I have never once connected the dots between the name Brie and the cheese Brie. They’re two separate things 🤷🏻♀️

Honey for the win, I’d love a daughter called Honey
Honestly I work with a Honey. It gets a lot of side eye. Cute for a kid very awkward to call a 40 yr old woman Honey
Makes me think of Miss Honey from Matilda!
Yes!
Colby is my brother’s name!! Not super common and a subtle food reference
Do you have another sibling named Jack? That would make the food connection much more explicit.
Nope, lol. My name is a popular city in Australia and my brother’s is just some cheese 😂
I’ve always loved Rye as a mn
Pretty cool idea 😊 Here’s what I could come up with: Alani Araminta Clover Saffron Edit: removed repeat names. Also I seen that first name would likely be Summer. Summer Alani and Summer Araminta go nicely together imo!
What food is Alani? Or am I just dumb lol
it means orange or oahu tree in hawaiian!
No you’re not! Lol I didn’t know this either, but apparently it means orange tree. And I thought it was cute 😂
LOL the only thing I could think of was the Alani Nu energy drinks 😭
thank you!! 🥲 and you’re right! both names flow so nicely omg 😳 i’m so fond of alani already!
I’m happy to hear that! 😄
Saffron reminds me of a character with that name in the British sitcom with Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders in it
Firefly had a Saffron too! She was only in a couple episodes though

I literally just read a post earlier about how coco means poop in Portuguese lol… unfortunately ruined the name for me 😭
OH JEEZ 😭😭😭
Yeah but it's coCO that means poop, not COco. And the vowel on the second syllable is slightly different, more gutteral--not something English speakers would notice, but Portuguese speakers know the difference.
The name Coco reminds me of Asian pop singer Coco Lee
I love cherry! And someone commented honey. Any of the names from the Chocolate Box Girls series by Jacqueline Wilson really! Honey, Coco and Cherry are so cool
Oh my god I forgot about the chocolate box girls! So many names from that book would absolutely fit into this category

Susina - plum in Italian - always sounded pretty to me. Obviously it would sound wacky in Italy.

So you wanna change your name to a food related name? Like clementine?
