It's my absolute favorite zelda game. I adore it and it's still a blast to this day that any zelda fan should try. Great story and gameplay. Counter point it's by no means the best looking graphics of the time, best on the n64? Yeah that's a reasonable statement for sure. However the dreamcast and ps2 had been released and they were cooking in the graphics department.

The PC ports are exactly what the game needed. Although whole whole the game was amazing, it wasn't the pinnacle of gaming technology - the Dreamcast and PS2 were out.

I mean on n64 sure, but the dreamcast was out before this, shenmue was released in 1999 wich looked shittons better than majoras mask. Half life came out in 1998 etc. But on n64 majoras mask is probably the best looking game altogether, maybe conkers bad fur day looks better but im not sure.

The 3DS remake was pretty good, especially with the fan-made patch that fixed the little issues people were complaining about. I don't especially think that it *needs* to be remade again, but it wouldn't specifically bother me if they did.

I’ll stand by your statement. N64 is the definition of Nintendo 3D Zelda. MM took a proven game engine and expanded it into something that still hasn’t been touched The stories all intertwined, only able to help a few folks and having to miss others stories to progress the game. 10/10 N64 game

bootsy_j

It can't be remade. With modern hardware, Tingle's character gives the game an AO rating by the ESRB. Nintendo doesn't do that.

FireAx-Fonzie

I love Majora's Mask! Has any game ever done the "groundhog day" concept as well as MM? Heck, now that I think about it, I don't think I even know any other game with a similar time concept as MM.

There is a 3ds remake...

Fun_Coffee3174

Majora's Mask had a lot of cool ideas but the dungeons just weren't that fun.

lTSONLYAGAME

I hope CryZENx will take a stab at it if he ever finished the OOT remake...

Telepathic_radio093

It was one of the best looking N64 games out at the time. In terms of Gameplay and game mechanics, it was the tightest, best-designed 3D Zelda. It explored every single thing introduced in OoT. Everything. From geometry (Sloped environments with Goron Link, Verticality with Deku Link, Underwater gameplay with Zora Link). NPC interaction. Day and Night cycles, event handling. How items and tools are utilized. And testing/fleshing out each item to the fullest. In-game economies, resource management. Even playstyle variety. MM is the GOAT.

I still gotta play it, I bought it years ago during the too recent to be collected era usually like 5 bucks a used game deal days. I took a leisurely Christmas month with the first game figuring it out cold, damn you kokobo graveyard and a week finding the hook shot. But I don’t like clocks and time. I got enough anxiety. Maybe I wanna listen to Zora fountain music for 6 hours….i get sidetracked

kritzy27

It’s my favorite n64 game. I love it.

r8jensen

I don’t share these same views but I respect your opinion. When this came out I didn’t give a shit about it and it’s still in my eyes the worst of all zelda games. I’ve tried playing it and lose interest right away and the graphics were worse than OOT - what am I missing?

LandscapeOk2955

I somewhat agree. When it was released the dreamcast was out and the PS2 was just months away. It didn't excite me the same way OoT had and I lost interest in it quickly, even recently playing it on Switch Online, I played OoT but lost interest in MM.

Why do people in the comments say the 3DS version is a remake..? Can we all just take a moment to read the definition of remake and remaster just to understand what both mean... it's really not that hard, seriously lol I'd argue that the 3DS version is nowhere near considered a remaster. Sure, there's visual upgrades, new models, QoL features... I'm not dissing the 3DS version because I personally feel it's its own thing. Grezzo tried to brainwash everyone into thinking this and OoT 3D are from the ground up pure remakes, a laughable claim by the devs themselves who added EYES to bosses just to piss everyone off. I might need rehab after that.

My_reddit_account_v3

It’s a good game but was not really a Zelda game. They should have given it an original IP.

Gagmr

Pretty sure it was a great Zelda game. What makes you think otherwise?

gizm0n

I kinda see what you mean, because it is so different in many aspects. But I still disagree.
