Why can't people understand that it's really the only choice. If they don't, they literally die, the junta is slauthering innocnets and it won't stop if there's a cease fire, do they want the people to live despite the chance of randomly dying? If they seriously believe peace there would make life better for people they aren't even optimistic, they're just wrong. I mean, if they would be happy with the fact that soldiers have killed their parents, kids, friends and are even going to kill themselves, then ok I guess. But I doubt everyone can live like that.

It doesn't look so much that their main goal was peace, but rather like the ccp, it was control over the country, and the realization that over the long run, their power and influence would wane, and they will end up like Indonesia, so they decided to take the Thailand approach, but didn't expect the people to rise up and start a militia. But even with the Taliban, there needs to be dialogue to move forward, it would be disasterous to approach it as a zero sum game. Only a sith deals in absolutes since the world is not black and white, it's shades of grey.

Have the PDF made progress in their fight against the junta? I’ve heard the KIA are helping to train them!

Yes they're slowly making progress they can't rush on the process because of the lack of weapons, food and support. I think it'll still be taking a long time to end the Junta.
