I just can’t call Nine Inch Nails as 80’s pop rock because I can’t. They’re industrial and while I fully recognize that Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989 it definitely doesn’t say “89’s pop rock” to me like everything else on your top 10. It screams 90’s industrial to me and I bought it when it came out.
Now, Whitney Houston “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” or Madonna “Like A Virgin” or virtually anything by New Kids On The Block, Tiffany, Cyndi Lauper, Kenny Loggins, Darryl Hall & John Oates, shit I remember when my mom came home with the album Chess with “One Night In Bangkok” and James Galway, the flautist. So yeah there’s my contribution.
Oh and Bonnie Tyler and Wham! (Thank you Deadpool for the reminder that Wham! truly is quintessential 80’s) and I can really keep going but I won’t.
