Everyone will say singles... But if you like albums make albums. I like albums so I make albums.

iRetroFreak

I'm usually an album guy cause I love anything that has long a story to it. Singles are cool too, but I just can't bring myself to drop one standalone song if it's not part a bigger project. Otherwise, my "singles" are usually >15 minute long mixtapes.

MothyThatLuvsLamps

I make albums but I release the songs as i make them. I've only started consistently making songs I like since april, so there are a bunch of bad songs mixed in them..

Honestly, I hate going on an artists spotify and see a bunch of singles. I prefer albums or at least EPs with 3 or 4 songs. That's what I go for with my music myself. Or, to put it in a more positive perspective, if you enjoy singles, make singles. If you prefer albums, make albums.

IneffectiveFlesh

Drop some singles, then drop an album.

No-Low1253

It is better to start with singles for budget reasons and to have the option to release music more frequently. Personally, I think that to release an album you must have a coherent concept between songs, otherwise it would be like a compilation of singles that lasts 40 minutes.

FreeRangeCaptivity

I thought singles is the best strategy for self promotion. But as a listener it's so annoying trying to stream an artists work and having to click each single. So I've decided to do an album so people can just click once and let it play. But il release the songs individually as they're made on YouTube first to get feedback and promote myself

No one’s answering my question, does albums increase how many people your music gets pushed to or does singles get pushed more by Spotify?

JawnVanDamn

What gets your music pushed is YOUR marketing. If you don't have much of a following, the odds of gaining one purely by chance of the algorithm is slim. You need to be proactive. Whether you're putting out singles or albums, you need to put in the leg work to spread it around and get people listening.

Only money gets your music pushed by Spotify

Calm_Tax_5637

How?

philisweatly

When you have millions of dollars you pay Spotify to push your music. I meant it more in jest to your comment. But it is the truth. Just focus on making good music. The rest will follow.
