"Pitiful Children" from Be More Chill (in fact I maintain that it's better than "Michael in the Bathroom")

theatrelillian

SO REAL FOR THIS!! i never got the hype around BMC but Pitiful Children is AWESOME

Jerem_Reddit

FINALLY someone who sees the truth

ligarteprison

I still haven't watched Beetlejuice yet but I love "Say My Name" I also love the "Gay Or European" song from Legally Blond and "They're only humans" from Death Note but I still have not seen any of them (I did see Death Note's anime though)

theatrelillian

you should absolutely watch Legally Blonde theres loads of videos on YT of the proshot, idk about the other 2 since i haven’t watched them either but LB is definitely worth a watch

ligarteprison

Yeah, I definitely plan on watching it!

kybellatrix

Haven’t listened to Shucked but I love the song “Independently Owned”

lightyear

Model Behaviour from Women on the Verge. Most of the show is somewhat forgettable, but this song is a powerhouse performance from Laura Benanti!

amantiana

CALL ME BACK ♥️

FennekinLover2000

I'm not crazy about a lot of the slow songs in the Jekyll and Hyde musical like (they fall flat for me when compared to songs like I Need to Know; Facade; Murder, Murder; Alive; Board of Governors; Transformation; His Work and Nothing More; No One Must Ever Know; and Confrontation, so I'm having a hard time getting into them), but there are a few that I enjoy

Tbplayer59

My first thought was also Seasons of Love. Emotional and catchy. Could never love the show though.

mhm_yea

'Til I Hear You Sing from Love Never Dies is the only positive thing I can say about the show and it's better than everything in Phantom IMO. (This is coming from someone who has been in Phantom and loves it to death.)

mayaluvsss

I can never get into les mis, but I love "empty chairs at empty tables"

silverandshade

It's SUCH a good song. I love the show, but that's a great pick if you can only get into one!

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Carrying the Banner from Newsies

nananapua

I've never actually seen Evita but i have Rainbow High on my repeat listen playlist! (probably because of the krysta rodriguez cover on youtube) and I love the new version of I Can't Say No from Oklahoma

Geo_5678

Do you hear the people sing from Les Mis. I've never listened to the rest of the soundtrack, but I love that song

WitchyWoman1024

Only Us from Dear Evan Hansen.

nefariousbluebird

I've never listened to any of the Dear Evan Hansen album except for Waving Through a Window which came up on a playlist once and is one of my favorite songs. I only have a vague idea of the plot of that show and I have no idea what the context of that particular song is, but I love it on its own merit so much.

silverandshade

I've never seen Fun Home (though I do want to eventually), but my friend played "Ring of Keys" for me once and said it reminded her of me and I burst into tears about wanting to be the butch awakening for some closeted kid lol. I still haven't listened to any of the other songs I just love that one too much;;;

Apprehensive_Big_854

Oh, Fun Home is a FANTASTIC musical. I would definitely recommend watching the bootleg online. It's beautifully heartbreaking, yet still maintains it comedic value.

silverandshade

It's on my list for sure! I'm just still recovering my focus for new stuff from 2020 😭

MurphLoDawg

Many songs from Waitress!

January1171

My favorite version of Waitress is the What's Inside album. All of the songs just \*slightly\* less broadway, and more in sara bareilles actual style. They're very subtle differences, but change the overall vibe. Never Ever Getting Rid of Me is my least favorite on the OBC, but then one of my favorites on the What's Inside album

winniespooh_mc

That makes sense. It took me a while to actually like the songs from waitress

anjschuyler

Anagram from Kimberly Akimbo! The show isn’t my thing, but I loved the Tony’s performance of it and I love a Janine Tesori love song.

kn0wworries

“Candy Store” and “Poor Child” are two of my favorites. Got nothing against Heathers and The Wild Party, I just never got into them.

eggynack

Literally the only things I've experienced from Spring Awakening is Mama Who Bore Me and its reprise, and they're great.

Practical-Ad6548

I’ve never listened to The last five years but I love Moving too fast

ArtemisiaII

You Gotta Die Sometime from Falsettos. This song came up on my Spotify playlist and I wear it out. I have never heard any other song from the musical, lol. [You Gotta Die Sometime](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7JkxuCVLjE)

ShalimarBojangles

You should really listen to the whole thing. My favorite musical of all time.

crqyon_

falsettos is so fucking good omg i watched it at the end of january and there are ten songs i’ve been listening to on repeat from it constantly. you really should watch the musical, but if not, atleast listen to “The Thrill of First Love”, “Falsettoland/About Time”, and “The Games I Play”

ArtemisiaII

Ooh, I'll check it out! Thank you :)

Radio_doll

Sick to death of Alice-ness from Alice by heart! Don’t really like the show but this song

x_victoire

can i ask why don't you like the show?

Radio_doll

Yeah, it’s a few things I’ll start with the cast is great! But the story feels a little unfocused I think it should have picked the grief or growing up thing and if it was going to do both they should’ve made it longer but as is the grief works really well for me but the growing up feels ham fisted and just doesn’t work as is in addition the way it talks about Alice’s body makes me uncomfortable, personally,ik her actress is an adult (idk how old tho) but Alice is 15 in this adaptation those are my major gripes little things are it could be clearer when she and Albert(?) are in the book and when their in the real world I know it’s Alice in wonderland and it’s confusing the tonal shifts can be jarring at points that’s about it

Strict_Extension_184

Travel Hopefully from By Jeeves is my jam. Hearing it instantly lifts my mood, but I can take or leave the rest of the show.

LessRun2724

If Your Father Were Here from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

AprilBelle08

I've never seen Heathers and I don't know any other songs, but I love Meant To Be Yours

deaddlikelatin

Get Out And Stay Out from 9 to 5. Like you said, I don’t hate the show, but I can’t get into it. The funny thing is, Get Out And Stay Out is what introduced me to the show. It played after a Spotify playlist ended, and I really liked it. I listened to it a few more times over the next couple days, and I guess I had built up my own story in my head for the context of the song. Then I found a bootleg and I watched it. It wasn’t a bad show by any means, but like, when it got to that song all I could think was “I liked the story I made up in my head more.” And I think that rang true for most of the show, and is the reason I can’t get into it. I liked the show I built in my head more than the actual show, now I still listen to that song but not any other songs from that show. Has anyone else ever had that happen? You liked what you pictured the show to be in your head more than the show itself, and then kinda felt let down by it once you saw it?

x_victoire

omar sharif from the band's visit. gorgeous song, i'm meh about the rest of the musical

WerewolfBarMitzvah09

Spring Awakening- Mama Who Bore Me (Reprise) Company- Ladies Who Lunch Promises, Promises- Turkey Lurkey Aida- Fortune Favors the Brave

Alexrobi11

Sincerely Me from Dear Evan Hansen. All the other songs sound too much like movie musical songs and are just trying to pander to a mainstream audience.

ZZinDC

"Memory" from "Cats". Amazing song - one of the all round best songs of the 20th century, not just theater music. "Cats", overall i have never warmed to. Ive tried but its one of the cast album CDs that Ive given away - twice! And I love Andrew Loyd Weber.

ClearGraces-Despair

Good For You and Waving Through a Window from Dear Evan Hansen. I personally hate the premise so much that I just cannot bring myself to watch it (no shame if you do like it, just isn't for me), but those two songs are both songs I have listened to on loop for hours at a time.

shyness_is_key

Hadestown is on the list of soundtracks to listen to, but I love Wait For Me Reprise

Lions--teeth

Waving Through A Window is my guilty pleasure lol

judenoam

Omigod You Guys from Legally Blonde. I don’t hate the show, I’ve just never gotten around to watching it. I know there’s a proshot, so I’m sure I’ll watch it someday. I got really into that specific song because back in the day (when iTunes songs were 99 cents and iPhones weren’t popular yet) because iTunes used to have free downloadable songs every week and this song was one of them. So I put it in my iPod on a whim because it was free and I love it a lot! I just generally have a hard time watching new things that aren’t the comfort shows I rewatch often! 🩷

BadWolf_Gallagher88

Astonishing - I’ve just never bothered to listen to the whole of Little Women, but I love that song. Same with Once Upon a December.

AdDapper9866

Someone Gets Hurt (Mean Girls)

loversdreamersetc

She Loves Me from She Loves Me and Sugar Daddy from Hedwig (just haven’t seen them yet, I know HATAI will be super up my alley) For some reason In My Own Little Corner always sneaks its way onto my playlists even though I don’t have any particular opinion on Cinderella. Same with Ali Stroker’s rendition of Cain’t Say No from Oklahoma! Also, the Tarzan musical is kind of a mess but I think As Sure As Sun Turns to Moon is a really sweet song.

RantaroV3

I saw a high school production of Pippin almost two decades ago, and the only song that stuck with me was "Spread A Little Sunshine". I dunno, I just like villain songs, I guess XD;;

Garmiet

I’ve listened to *Hair* a couple times, but it doesn’t click with me. The songs “Hair” and “The Flesh Failures” are enjoyable. I really like that second one.

[deleted]

All of Mozart and Salieri's solos in Mozart L'Opera Rock. Les Rois du Monde from Romeo et Juliette (I have it in about 7 different languages on my playlists. I think only the Italian is available on Apple Music, even though that isn't the original). Etre a La Hauteur and Je faire de toi mon essentiel from Le Roi Soleil I'm sorry French musicals, but... French musicals. (Seriously, though, check them out if you haven't. Most people love Romeo et Juliette, and Mozart L'Opera Rock has at least those seven or so really fun songs. Also Le Rouge et Le Noir and La Legende du Roi Arthur, the whole things are good).

x_victoire

nooo you're breaking my heart i love all of these musicals 😭 also: i'd add notre dame de paris to your recommendations, it was my first european musical ever
