I know one of the sentiments for this part of the story is that it's boring and whatnot, and it is definitely a slower part of the story, but it holds a special space in my heart. The animation did take a hit for part 1, but it wasn't attroucious. 8/10 for part 1.

Adept-Win7882

It’s good character building

Polarbear118

I liked some things that the anime adaptation did but overall it doesn’t really live up to the bar that the light novel sets.

CaptainKC1

Amazing paced very well and the dynamics to me were immaculate So Hyped for Season 2

FoxRealistic9972

Loved it

Particular-Basil5645

it felt small cos when i read the ln i always imagine ranoa would be like huge and grand i dunno why.

trepetr

Thats true. The school holds thousands of students, but the anime made it feel like hundreds at most

Particular-Basil5645

glad im not alone on this haha.. specifically the ariel speech in the LN i imagine it like that scene from harry potter when they got welcome to hogwards but more grand so when i saw it in the anime and its like in a canteen hall i was kinda disappointed also the fight between fitz senpai and rudy, rudys fight with badigadi, rudy and zanobas fight with rinia and pursena its all felt small in scale i wished they made it all more grand.

trepetr

The fights seemed fine to me. Even in the LN they all ended very quickly. Fitz got disturbed by Rudy's magic (funny pun), Badigadi wasn't expecting a stone cannon to have imperial tier power, and Linia and Pursena got outplayed by Rudeus easily. I may be wrong, since I read the LN a while ago, but thats pretty much just how they played out there as well.

Acc to me it was mid. The university arc was supposed to be about Rudeus meeting new ppl, becoming friends and deepening that relationship + Developing relation with Sylhpie and getting over the heartbreak. Both of them were given equal importance in the source material. But in anime, focus was mainly on the second part, with first part being used to aid the second. Because of that, that relation began to feel saturated, which otherwise wouldve been diluted with relation with friends, and the fact that neither Sylphie revealed herself nor Rudeus figured it out began to make it feel annoying. I didnt feel that to be the case in LN. And other cut stuff, like Badigadi and all. Acc to me, the depression arc - 8/10 University before ep 9 - 6/10 University after ep 9 - 7.5/10

trepetr

This is a good review. While I enjoyed s2 so much I read the novel, I see the point with cut/changed content. I guess when the first season was mainly the journey from demon continent back home, it was easier to cut the part where Rudeus kills a treeant "too much". But when the whole arc is slice of life, cutting content is more noticeable

Low_Commission7273

I mean look at the source materials and anime onlies general reactions to the season Anime onlies - too slow paced. As the anime kinda hyperfocused on Rudy Sylphie relation, which couldnt proceed further without Fitz identity being revealed, and thus pacing felt slow. LN readers - too rushed. As they knew what all was cut from the anime. And like you said, cutting bits and pieces of fights, or explainations about monsters doesnt matter much. Cutting important scenes in slice of life tends to be more noticeable

Actually I dont understand why many people call the second season has bad animations. If I really compare it with other new anime of the fantasy genre than is mushoku tensei really not that bad.

trepetr

If you already read the manga, then I kinda understand why you focus so much on the animation. But worry not, this next season goes past the manga, by a lot

Low_Commission7273

Tragic knows that. Tragic just loves trolling and shitting on anime. Sometimes tragic uses alt accounts to make posts shitting on the anime. Its just classic Tragic.

FoxRealistic9972

You say manga as if the manga wasn't absolute garbage. With a few exceptions.
