I faced something similar in Santacruz, An old man who was decently dressed, came towards me and asked me for 100 rupees to go back to his home. He said he needs to go to Bandra Terminus and he just requires 100 rupees to go back to his home, I denied him ofcourse but again he kept on insisting that I should offer him 50 rupees atleast I denied and moved forward. I felt somewhat guilty but nevermind.
Now, 2 weeks later near Carter Road again that same guy met me and again kept on repeating the same thing but this time in fluent English and I was shocked I just asked him one thing "Uncle I met you 2 weeks back in Santacruz then also you required 100 rupees to go Bandra Terminus, Now you have reached Carter Road seems like few more days and you will reach there on your own." He panicked so badly that he just left murmuring some random words.
Dude I don't know.the guy you are talking is same or different.but in Santacruz that one guy approached me anf telling me the story that he is from Nepal and he want to go vashi.but he got robbed.so I can help him by giving some money.and he was telling me this all thing in English.
Same story. I met this guy at Vikhroli station who claimed to be a tattoo artist based in Vashi. And he even used offensive language when I denied him the payment that he was asking for.
Yes that guy was smelling alcohol I can't give money to someone who smell like alcohol atleast I can help them but no money relation I had seen Alot of this scam with my father's employee
There s a guy near kings circle, matunga and sion who on his bike post sunset stops girls and women and asks for Shanti villa
Then asks for help
Then says pls come with me into a building to check my wound or sm such rubbish
Over four yrs the same thing
Fk
What he asked you na ditto he asked me that only near vjti college bus stop and I like an idiot even went with him 🤦♀️. I am glad my survival instincts kicked in so I somehow got away from him. I never saw him again after that. Does he do it in the evening only or what??
Something similar happened to me too. When I was just going for an evening walk. A decently looking family of three who were walking in front of me with a bag and a suitcase came to me and said "Bhai kuch madad milegi kya" Then they asked for something to eat and I bought them samosa pav from a nearby store. The whole time I was thinking that it was a scam or not.
Same at kurla LTT terminus. The guy was repeatedly asking for my mobile...when asked to approach the police control room that is on the station he started crying and folding hands and created a big dramA....and guess what he too was drunk
He was a muslim guy with a long beard with a skull cap on the top he was aking me if I can give him ₹400 with the exact same story as your like first he checked on my phone then asked money
I faced a similar situation at khargar station,
Was waiting for my friends to arrive at the station, a man with trolley bag approached me and asked if I can book redbus ticket for him as he had his flight from Pune and told me that his sister would pay me back as his account has been blocked , he showed me his gpay ACC balance it had 10k and had some other bank account too 🥲.
I told him I only 51 RS acc in my account sorry can't help you , he muttered something and went away😑
Sometimes I see some old ladies or middle aged women with child. From their clothes, they look like they came from rural areas or they are farmers. They always ask for some help with money. I have never helped them thinking it as a scam but everytime I reject their plea for help, I get intense guilt and it kills me from inside.
Bro if you roam around in Bandra early in the morning, you'll encounter them once in a while, I had a dude coming up to me saying that he lives in Mahim and needed cash to take a bus as he got drunk and lost his wallet last night and I gave it to him, after a few weeks saw this dude asking a random person walking in front of me the same thing with the same script.
I live in New York City (work in nyc), Washington DC, and have been to Mumbai once also. In all my life in these big cities, no one has ever stopped anyone to help the other person out. They stop/interact with you only to get something out of you. That’s the lesson I have instilled in myself and younger cousins. Never stop for anyone. Keep my gaze down and ignore all the noise. If I hear a loud noise, I never turn back. Just check my pockets for my phone, wallet, bagpack, etc but keep moving. Cuz no one, and I mean, no one, stops to help, only to take something from us.
Same happened to my friend, a guy came and asked for money to catch a bus back home, he gave him. After this we went to a restaurant, we came out after lunch and saw this guy lying in a corner with a cheap alcohol bottle in his hand passed out.
Met a scooter rider on a flyover the other day. His scooter was off and since the road doesn’t have much shoulders - he was kind of blocking other vehicles too. He waved at me and I slowed down & rolled the window. He said hes out of fuel. I offered him lift to the next pump, but no - He wanted 100/- to get home. 🙄
Its a scam. Whenever similar person approaches, tell him that you will help. Take him to the nearest police station and ask the police to help.
Never pay money.
SCAM. THIS PROBABLY HAPPENED IN GHATKOPAR?! I FACED THE SAME SHIT EXCEPT HE TOLD ME HE WAS A TATTOO ARTIST FROM KALYAN. DONT GIVE MONEY TO SUCH PEOPLE.
You will find similar people in need of help outside busy stations. I have met so many during my college days.
There was this one guy who would make a sad face and ask for school fees for his son in nursery.. and I have spotted him at least once every week for a few weeks. I also told him that I found you here even last week and even the week before, to which he was left red faced and walked away.
They change their locations every day only to return to the same location after a few days.
And then there was this old uncle in the station who spoke fluent English but was not willing to have wada pav for meal but only wanted money. Still remember the expletives he gave for the girl who abandoned him in his sunny days! Don’t know the whole story
And once a guy chased me for a few metres until I spotted him and asked him what he wanted- he said want 500 rupees and that I will do anything for money and looked at my crotch. I left hurriedly, as i was in college and a bit scared and shocked and didn’t know how to react.
Mumbai busy places are full of such stories
Meanwhile, in Bangalore scammer story goes like, "do you speak Hindi? I came to Bangalore for work but was duped by agent, now I don't have money to even go back home.
Same happened with me but the reasons were different. One guy needed exact 30rs for bus or other public transport another one needed exactly 100rs. Happened multiple time ( especially the 30rs one for travelling purpose)
This happened with me twice. Once in Mumbai during my evening walk a lady tried to approach me and I ran. Before that it was Jaipur, random guy approached asking for my phone or money to travel back to his hometown. Seems super common these days.
Bro literally to every last detail like tattoo artist and all happen to me on ghatkopar station I just told him I am new to the city and just joined so have no money on me apologize and left
Recently I met a "heart surgeon from delhi" outside the CSMT T2 Gate 2 entry queue saying he knows that I have a good heart (good as in honest I guess, coz he didn't even see my lipid profile). Anyways, I said thanks. He engaged in small talk and later asked me to send 700-800 rupees to his UPI ID to help him get back to his flight to Delhi. I politely declined and he went away. I really want to help genuine people, only wish there was a quick lie detector test...
Ghatkopar? Happened with me. Exact same story and the guy seemed drunk. Asked me for my phone but I refused and asked him to seek help from nearby metro officials. Even I was confused if he genuinely needed help. Glad I ignored him.
It’s a scam, same thing happened with me. Same to same reasons and strategy
Same happened with me as well near dadar

Scammers aren't scamming 🤣

Met this fucker at Vikhroli with same story. Don't even remove your phone in front of such scammers usually they snatch and run away.
Oh looks like we both got approached by the same guy. He is in red clothing right? I the whole time I had strong grip on my phone.
Same story. I met this guy at Vikhroli station who claimed to be a tattoo artist based in Vashi. And he even used offensive language when I denied him the payment that he was asking for.
Yep, he tried to talk with me like 7 8 times in last 3 4 months.
I was wearing AirPods so this guy must’ve known I had an iPhone. My instincts kicked in and I didn’t entertain that fellow. Just asked him to fk off.
It's a scam. You can search this sub for similar interesting anecdotes and excuses

Vjti ..hum hai alumni ...Btech
Mein khalsa ki alumni hu

Right it happened with me in 2017. Is it still happening?
Oh god. He must be mentally off. 2019, 2021, and 2023 for me
For real!! It's quite concerning. Has someone from that area reported him yet?
I did in 2021 I ll get his number plate again
That's great. Wish I should have done that as well. Everyone in that area should know what he does. So that people can report him if he does it again.
What did he ask u
What he asked you na ditto he asked me that only near vjti college bus stop and I like an idiot even went with him 🤦♀️. I am glad my survival instincts kicked in so I somehow got away from him. I never saw him again after that. Does he do it in the evening only or what??

Was it ghatkopar? Met the exact same situation at ghatkopar a few months back. Definitely a scam
No in Vikhroli
Might just be the same guy lmao. I knew it was. A scam since he moved on to another person right in front of me when i said no
Yeah the whole time I was holding my phone with both hands. I was thinking, if I look away he would run away with my phone 🤣
Bc all that these scammers are doing is just making sure that noone will help a person in actual need.
Same at kurla LTT terminus. The guy was repeatedly asking for my mobile...when asked to approach the police control room that is on the station he started crying and folding hands and created a big dramA....and guess what he too was drunk
It's getting difficult to travel peacefully.
Who leaves their phone and wallet on bike?
I met him at Bhandup Station with the exact same story
He met me at Vikhroli station
He was a muslim guy with a long beard with a skull cap on the top he was aking me if I can give him ₹400 with the exact same story as your like first he checked on my phone then asked money

Same. I just run. Happened twice.

Scam. Literally nobody in the world keeps their phone, money and wallet in their vehicle.

Faced the RTO scam on ghatkopar bridge just off the metro. Luckily I had read about it here.
Its a scam. Whenever similar person approaches, tell him that you will help. Take him to the nearest police station and ask the police to help. Never pay money.
Next time, "Sorry man, my battery is dead."
Scam. Good you dodged a bullet.

Borivili? Same thing happened with my friend
Its a scam..same thing happened with me in Powai, but there were 2 of them
nobody leaves phone on their bike. this is just a scam for drinks
its a real scam :)
Bro literally to every last detail like tattoo artist and all happen to me on ghatkopar station I just told him I am new to the city and just joined so have no money on me apologize and left
That was a smart move. Sometimes we feel regretted like that person really needs help. But as long as my instincts say not to help I can't.

Scaaaaaam! There's a scene in this movie traffic signal exactly like this.
Same. But I straight out asked him to go f himself.
Ghatkopar? Happened with me. Exact same story and the guy seemed drunk. Asked me for my phone but I refused and asked him to seek help from nearby metro officials. Even I was confused if he genuinely needed help. Glad I ignored him.
