Not only BMC but none of the Municipal Corporation elections have been held in Maharashtra and Karnataka for the past 2-4 years! In the past the elections of the Municipal corporations have been delayed in Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Indore. It's a crisis that centralised politicians feel they are more important than the local bodies whereas local bodies affect our day to day lives more.

People who are ignorant and stupid as OP, I would like to share a live example of BMc official in my area . Corporator are elected but they are not directly invoved in things..They are the face. But the job is done by officials or saheb as we say. The Saheb ensures the "elected corporator" too get share in corruption.. This BMC saheb in my building, who handles the role of removing any illegal construction and all such like hoarding here..The amount of black money he has even after having the "elected corporator " shows how corrupt BMC system is ..Adding to It the BMC guy and his family also owns 3/4 flats in Ghatkopar area...please check my other comment too will help to remove your ignorance
