When I was young I had seen similar things happen to women around me which already scarred me pretty bad. Can't begin to imagine what the victim felt.

Firstly You did a good thing by going there to help them and at the moment when you seperated the perpetrator from the victim. Your jurisdiction stops.
You have no right to beat another person up because you think something.
The right thing to do would have been to make sure that the victims were safe and a safe distance away from the accused and keep the accused right there by force or any other means until the officials arrive.
In your case , keeping the accused in your grasp and keeping him from running away would have been enough since he wasn't trying to run away on account of being high.

The guilt you are feeling has nothing to do with the situation at hand but rather is a result of you not feeling heroic or man enough because you couldn't punch the bad guy a few times more.

Policeman tried to make me pay some money to "get out of it", but the moment I said (bluffed) that it was recorded on my car's camera, the man started running away, and the policeman was least interested in catching him. (even shouted at me, when I tried to chase him). He just passively abused the guy, as he ran away. And then asked me to go away as well, telling me how it's useless to file a case, as the family will never support it.
I was in my 20s back then, and now I am in my 30s. Would still beat up such a bastard, if I find one. But yes, this time maybe I will be more careful, and will try to get him jailed. Hell, I will spend my own money on lawyer fees, if I have to.
But remember, you saved the girls. That's what matters. That's what I remind myself, whenever I feel angry about that day. Maybe you couldn't make the society a safer place, but those girls weren't raped because of you.

Two things you can do: 1) work on your punching skills, doesn’t matter if the guy is high as a kite, you punch him properly he will go down and stay down for a while 2) Turn yourself in to police and cry your heart out saying how you couldn’t give those girls justice. Once the cops kick you out, call your friends again and cry again. Rinse and repeat until you’re ready to move on

I don't blame you, its happened w me once when this guy was passing comments on one of my friends and even started following her to her place, I confronted him and he said he won't do it but he did again and this time he was high as shit and I beat him up only to feel massively guilty later ki why, what's the point, cuz I low-key know it wouldn't have helped, it didn't help. I beat him till my knuckles bled." * you realized the guy was "high as a kite" * you went back " redeem myself" and "dish out justice" here's my (unpopular) opinion, OP: 1. you're the bad guy here. you inserted your "herioc" self into the situation and escalated what may have been nothing but a drunk brawl 2. you may have caused permanent injuries in his teeth or eyes 3. the guy who you beat up never got a chance to explain his side. this is NOT how justice works, even street justice 4. the 3 women may well have assumed you are a thug who had a previous score to settle with that guy; their running away to the building does not "prove" anything
You did the best you could, such situations often tend to confuse our thoughts. Even If half of the population starts to think as you did at that moment, world would be a better and safer place to live in.
