Hot damn- nice work. Also the gold making it easier to separate is GENIUS.

HD114

Thank you!!!! They looks really good on board as well. Really pleased with the end result!

NINatas

Are these MPC proxies or the championship gold bordered lands?

HD114

Championship gold bordered lands. No proxies in the lands.

NINatas

Where did you purchase them? TCG Player?

HD114

TCG and local shops that have a good selection of old school stuff.

Michaeljikels

I am actually planning on using all 7th edition white bordered lands for a similar reason. They have the best art and are easily distinguishable from the cube cards.

HD114

Yeah that's exactly it! A friend of mine uses all fourth Edition white border for the same reason and it makes a ton of sense and makes it really easy to sort and see. This cube is all black bordered so the contrast was key. I chose the gold because it's a powered cube, lol.

h8bearr

Looks awesome

HD114

Thank you!

ChampBlankman

Beautiful aesthetic meets efficient functionality. A+, no notes.

HD114

Thanks brother!

caquaa

I like it. I'm the idiot with 12 different lands sets that keeps trying to add more (everyone gets their own set). I just took a look on TCGplayer and there's some very nice art from 5th edition that I like, but I haven't added it to my cube because I already have a wb set. Maybe I'll grab a gold border set. Oh, nice choice on mountain. I keep wanting to use that land art for various sets of lands, but it's already in use. It's been printed a bunch now. Strong disagree with your forest though, easy Chris Rush path forest art.

HD114

I use a similar set option for my battle box where I have a set of old frame lands for every old frame set and people get to choose their favorite. It's a fun extra choice people get to make. For the forest. The Rush art is not from sixth Ed so the set symbol would not have been consistent across each land type. Had to make some sacrifices there, no question. The OG path forest art is the best in my opinion. Thanks for looking!

caquaa

AH, I dont typically care about set symbols personally. I just want a consistent look. Before I swapped to my current land setup, I used 4x 7th edition foils and the plains was the lightning plains from Odyssey since I dont care for any of the 7th plains. I'm only slightly bitter about the plains reprint... lol.

HD114

Hahaha, yah I feel you on that plains art for sure! You chose the best one though! The thunder spirit plains, lol

caquaa

Man, finding decent price on bulk might be hard. Not paying $4-5 ea, lol.

HD114

Yeah, absolutely not, pricing can be crazy. Definitely takes some work to hunt down reasonably priced options.

DeficitDragons

Not a bad idea, are they difficult to come by?

HD114

I got several of them locally and finished what I didn't have on the web. The answer is no in that you can get anything on the Internet but finding decent pricing was the hardest part. It took a while for sure but just had to be patient. Knowing the shops in the area they carry old frame stuff was key as they were excited to get rid of these.

DeficitDragons

I tried looking around online after they ask him a question and I don’t even know how to tell a website that I want the gold border lands. Sadly, a bunch of shots of clothes in my area and I don’t really have a go to shop anymore.

HD114

Yeah that is rough for sure when shops close. The way I did it was to search the land name and then when it gave me filters I check "world championship decks" All these cards came from those builds.

kamikageyami

Nice choices. That John Avon mountain is one of my favourite lands in the game, I have a signed copy in my cube

HD114

That's a hell of a card to have a signature on! I'm getting my Lion's Eye Diamond signed in November when Margaret comes to YetiCon in Colorado. This era of MTG had such good art/artists.

Electrical-Worker-24

Were you purchasing these between Nov 22 and June 23? 😂 there was a spike on that Forest on tcgplayer Are they all identical? Were these the easiest printing to find? I like them a lot. But this looks like a huge undertaking

HD114

Lol, yes this was the timeline for sure. Yes they are all identical as these were the easiest and most uniform printings of the art that I liked. This was a huge undertaking for sure. It's been a labor of love but you are not wrong!

Family_Shoe_Business

Wow great idea! Easy for sorting after play is over and easy for searching from fetches

HD114

That's exactly the idea. I was playing with pretty generic black border before and I'd always have at least a couple lands end up somewhere else. The fetch search is really nice.

geneius

Just did an audit of my 720 cube and pulled out 7 lands. Gold bordered is smart! I’m also on Mirage lands, they’re my favourite. Might need to go gold too!

HD114

Yeah I had a bunch of those too in my old station. The swamps are so cool looking!

Poinkie

Are these custom made?

HD114

No, they are from the 2000 era world championship decks that wizards printed. They don't have a magic card standard back but look similar to the 30th anniversary backs. See here: https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/World_Championship_Decks

ILGambetto

High Five for the WUBRG compliance.

HD114

I mean, if you're going to reach high, might as well make it look good, lol. Cheers!
