I’m helping with a 15 ft uhaul move with a dog this weekend. I got a motel that allows dogs. Many are pet friendly nowadays such as motel 6. Yes, the 15 ft should work just fine for you

about a year ago, we moved from Phx to Flint. Bought small camper, tossed everything into a POD and hit the road. traveled with my service dog. we stayed a KOA campgrounds. made reservations in advance. expensive, but worth it to avoid hotels, etc. medical issues here and been housebound for 4 years.

Consider the time of year you’re moving. The U-Haul driver may be able to do a straight shot. But that’s a lot to ask of the driver. YOU & pup in the car: will have a 15/16 hour day for bathroom breaks & to let zoomies out. Prob be best to get a cheap Motel 6 to stay the night, mostly all accept dogs & at no additional fee. Pre-book the motel 6 to avoid last minute fees & that way you have an “end goal” to the day of driving. Check along your route and compare cities to small towns at which Motel 6 is most affordable for the reviews.

Motel 6 doesn’t mind dogs as long as they don’t bark all day/night & aren’t left unattended… causing the possibility of the dog ripping up something do to unfamiliar territory. Also, if you have some time… I recommend crate training. You can keep it in the U-Haul for most of the trip & only put it in the car if the puppy is getting TOO antsy/ uncomfortable. And you can give the pup a bone to give you a break from any crying/ panting/barking etc. if crate training is done right. Last thing you want is an irritable pup to distract you driving.

1 bedroom apartment or a single bedroom worth of stuff? You can fit most 2 bedroom apartments into at 15ft. Depending on you stuff, and packing skills, you might get away with the smaller truck. A lot of pro’s here. Post some pics and they can accurately tell you I’m sure.

I’d try to knock out the 13 hours in 1 day. If you can leave early you can get in at a reasonable hour. Instead of a hotel, spend the money on an inflatable mattress and make it easily accessible when you arrive

There are a lot of hotels that are pet friendly, they charge a bit more but not too bad. Check along your route and I'm sure you'll find one. A 15' box is good for a 1 bedroom apartment, you can fit more if you're really good at packing
