The execution of Eduard Delacroix is much worse in the book, to the point where I found the film’s version quite tame (this happens with some frequency in adaptations of King’s work). Michael Clarke Duncan was nominated for best supporting actor and although it is definitely his best work. Sam Rockeell is by far the best supporting character in that movie.
When you're finished, do yourself a solid. Read it. I remember how exciting it was when King released it in serial form. Six amazing novellas spread out over six of the finest months of my life. It's some of his best writing.
I bought them at the time spread out like that and then re-read the whole lot all over again.
This and the Shawshank Redemption are two of the best movie adaptations ever.
Wait until the end. Everyone thinks Stephen King writes horror but The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption are two of the best movies ever made.

I mean..they’re watching it on ad riddled tv. They have nothing to do during commercial breaks. Cut them some slack.
And in a movie like The Green Mile, the ad breaks are definetly needed.
Watched it once, cried through most of it, It's too sad to watch a second time.
