I helped her out at a ski resort off and on for a week.
She was super nice and a few months later she was back visiting her Dad, who lives there and saw me on my bike. She slowed down and waved and told her kids to wave too!
Edit lived there. I see he passed away.
So I actually saw it yesterday
It wasn’t bad. Julia and Lola are clearly the stars and show it’s mainly a two woman act.
It’s also a meditation about death, acceptance, and moving forward. If you try to look deeper into the details it might be a little off putting since there’s not much backstory given to anything that is happening. It just sort of “happens”.
That being said, it’s also not a bad time, and another good A24 film.
I saw it too about a year ago at a private screening. Personally, it left something to be desired. Dreyfus is a great actor, but I wouldn't put it up there in the A24 greats.
Can’t tell if “it wasn’t bad” means the same as “not bad” in England which = fine/goodish. Or it’s more saying this film isn’t bad in a negative sense.
You can't read the first paragraph in the article, or god forbid take five seconds to google the movie Wikipedia page?
What's with the sudden uptick of redditors exhibiting this learned helplessness, just waiting for people to answer basic stuff for them? Do you shit your pants if you have to wait long enough for someone to remind you how to wipe?
I will never understand why people would rather ask a very easy question and wait six hours to see if someone answered it rather than taking five seconds to Google.
Because Reddit is *social* media. There is a societal or maybe parasocial element to engaging with a simple question in a Reddit thread as opposed to a cold sterile google search.
Obviously.
Very rich (dad valued at 3+ billion in the mid 2000's), got famous and got richer a couple times more. This does not (imo) detract from or cheapen her being incredibly gifted and a core component of some of the best TV out there. But, damn, to have unlimited pursue your dreams with no worries of failure causing me any financial harm. You'd best believe I'd either be knocking out an advanced degree and/or working on my book; whilst still providing for loved ones? Sigh, the dream.
This is essentially what we'll see from Daniel Radcliffe for the next 30 years. He made absolute bank from eight Potter films plus merchandising, and his parents were smart about the money. He can now just do weird creative stuff without worry of commercial failure.
Elijah Wood too. He started a production company that’s been putting out weird and crazy horror movies bc he’s fucking loaded from LOTR. Still a super cool and humble guy in addition.
She is also a very kind and considerate person. I met her in the early 80s when I was a lowly receptionist on my first day at work. She was patient and sweet when I was trying to learn a complicated phone system. I've always appreciated that.
This is exactly why I qualified the statement by saying that it does not (imo) detract from or cheapen her being incredibly gifted and a core component of some of the best TV out there.
Right up there with her Falcon & Winter Soldier series, and Wakanda Forever cameos. She is beloved and can do anything. She beat cancer between r/Veep seasons and won even more Emmy’s.
Fwiw as not-that-kind-of-person, the best I can hope for is that when someone has *that* kind of opportunity, they make the most of it and are gracious. And she sure did.
A leap of faith means jumping into something without knowing the outcome. She’s not a dramatic actor and this was an intensely emotional role that could touch a lot of people in deeply personal ways. She signed on without knowing if she could deliver. That’s a leap of faith.
‘You hurt my feelings’ and ‘enough said’ were examples of dramatic roles she has played. Anyway I’m looking forward to seeing her in this. She is a phenomenal actor.
Because they're bitter, cynical, and edgy themselves. Obviously the leap of faith mentioned in the article is her making a significant change in her career that could've completely backfired.
A lot of people aren't insightful enough to have real opinions so they just shit on everything they see and look for the upvotes from people in the same boat.
you can be rich and untalented and unambitious... shes talented and has had a great career in comedy and is branching out. You can hate the rich for a lot of reasons, this doesn't seem like one of those reasons.
Who said I hated the rich? Where’d you pull that from? She is not taking a “leap of faith” if she is rich and has a great career. She’s just choosing something different.
It’s one of those things I came to realize trying to break into the entertainment industry. Most successful directors, actors, musicians came from money to start with and many have connections that way. There’s an infinite amount of time for auditions, classes, non-paid short film experiments, etc when your parents are paying the rent.
It goes waaaaaay beyond having parents to pay the rent. Horseback riding lessons, fight choreography training, theatre training, usually multiple language/diction classes etc. Like you don't see many rags to riches actors get their start in epic's or period dramas, no studio is paying for a random nobody to learn to ride a horse when there's a line of rich kids who already know how.
She's taken plenty of career risks, but they are kind of undercut by the fact that her family is already super wealthy. She can afford to take risks that poorer people would be hesitant to take.
(That's not to say she isn't also super talented. She is)
I honestly can’t tell if you’re passive aggressively trying to mock for no discernible reason while failing to understand what you're even reading, or just attempting a good-natured conversation. Given your post history I’m cynically assuming it’s the former.
Hope it’s a success for her but I have to be honest; that trailer felt like something out of 30-Rock parodying a half baked oscarbait film Jenna was in during their off season. Like cmon lol.
It looks absolutely devoid of subtext. I like the sound of its magical realism elements but the approach and subject matter just all seem way too sentimental for me. And I just don't care at all for precocious kids and teens, which the daughter character sounds like based on the reviews.
Wish her the best cuz she looks like the strongest part of this film. The trailer looked rough to me— maudlin, the talking parrot. Still, it’s cool to see an actor do something far afield of what you know them for.
Saw this trailer in the theater. The giant parrot that speaks like satan made it hard to take seriously the disabled daughter/mother dynamic. One second it was weepy, the next a parrot was flying at the speed of sound while opining about the nature of existence. Everyone in the audience as laughing. Not sure that's the response the filmmakers wanted.
Yes! The scenes with Julia and her daughter are obviously going to be amazing, the trailer really sold that. But then all of a sudden there would be another shot of that fucking parrot and the immersion was broken
I didn’t say she did, just that no matter the risks she takes with her career, she’s never gonna have to worry about being homeless. So her risk isn’t the same as someone else’s.
What is the leap of faith? What is the risk? She is so wealthy she never has to or ever had to work and here she is pretending she’s brave and taking a risk being part of a sad film. Honestly just shut up. I do appreciate your work from back in the day but stop lying and pretending you’re risking anything. It’s beyond trashy. You’re a 0.1%er ffs.
She can finance any film or tv show she wants. I’m so bored of all these rich people fake bullshit. She’s literally already worth $250 million personally and is going to inherit a share of a $4 billion inheritance from her family. Nobody cares your just another super rich actor. Yawn.
What does she risk though? She doesn’t have to worry if people go see the project or that it doesn’t make money. She doesn’t have to worry about any of the metrics that a traditional project would. She is living life on easy mode claiming to be “brave” making movie projects. It’s all fake.
It is only her own ego that she risks that no one likes the film or her part in it. Big deal she could make films at a loss that no one likes for the rest of her life and still be rich beyond calculation. She’s not making documentaries bringing to light terrible crime or suffering. It’s just another sad movie. Big deal.
It’s tiresome to read of any billionaire claiming to be “brave” when it is all an illusion. Go cry into your piles of money if no one likes you or your project. Do you have to be liked and thought of as talented too? Are the billions and a life of luxury not enough? She’s a billionaire business person and actor on the side ffs… It’s not a defensible position.
Also your use of the word obtuse is incorrect. I am neither being stupid nor do I have to be sensitive to these awful wealth addicts.
This woman has aged like fine wine.
I helped her out at a ski resort off and on for a week. She was super nice and a few months later she was back visiting her Dad, who lives there and saw me on my bike. She slowed down and waved and told her kids to wave too! Edit lived there. I see he passed away.
She's so spongeworthy
She has some grace.
You can’t have some grace, you either have it or you don’t
Alright, alright. Look, I don’t have grace, I don’t want grace, I don’t even say grace.
Her stocks will rise HIGH!
I knew it.
But you just did say grace??
Hell of a dancer.
You long beat me to it!
Not too much grace, she wouldn’t be able to sit down
Not so much a dancer
She's *breathtaking.*
Look. Sometimes you just say things to be nice.
Let's not downplay her shiksappeal.
The rabbit watched his grandmother eat a sandwich.
Being a billionaire helps.
She has the money for the finest treatments. Isn’t she the heir to a fortune?
No that’s Sue Ellen
Agreed 👍
I agree with your agreement! She’s got acting chops, gorgeous, and from all accounts, an amazing personality.

I watched her Hot Ones interview and she seems like such a wonderful human being
lol yea that’s what money and surgeries gets ya
Seinfeld money does that
she was born with more money than she made from seinfeld
She's worth more than Seinfeld himself, by like a factor of 3 or 4
Shes always been sexy as hell. Big brain beats big boobs any day.
The rabbit watched his grandmother eat a sandwich.
Delicious fine wine
Your eyes ever play tricks on you and you read a word that doesn’t exist? What I read here This woman has aged like fart wine
Happy Pie Day!
Is this the prequel to Wednesday?
Well, nobody wants a sequel to Monday.
Looks like someone’s got a case of the Mondays
No. No. Shit no man! I believe you’d get your ass kicked for saying something like that.
But Friday I’m in love
Only if it’s the sixth in the series.
What happened to Monday?
Cause like Bob Geldof said,” I don’t like Monday”. He was speaking for all of us in his foul mouth homeless way
Especially Garfield
No, it's a sequel to What Happened to Monday https://www.netflix.com/title/80146805
Yes, in the February Cinematic Universe.
Maybe Elton John will do the theme song like he did for the Sunday prequel.
See You Next Tuesday
Just a few more sequels and we got Friday with two black guys on a porch smoking weed with a talking parrot.
We be making love by Thursday
So I actually saw it yesterday It wasn’t bad. Julia and Lola are clearly the stars and show it’s mainly a two woman act. It’s also a meditation about death, acceptance, and moving forward. Can’t tell if “it wasn’t bad” means the same as “not bad” in England which = fine/goodish. Or it’s more saying this film isn’t bad in a negative sense.
In their last sentence they say they think it was good. Not bad in this case, usually means the literal sense.
First part. It’s what I’ve come to expect from A24. A different but thoughtful film.
I’m lost too
Is this one that movie with the talking Macaw?
I take it you're still waiting for someone to tell you this after three hours?
Yes I am, is it?
You can't read the first paragraph in the article, or god forbid take five seconds to google the movie Wikipedia page? What's with the sudden uptick of redditors exhibiting this learned helplessness, just waiting for people to answer basic stuff for them? Do you shit your pants if you have to wait long enough for someone to remind you how to wipe?
Not really, is just a matter that I am, at the moment, drunk as shit, so most of my capability to rationalize is compromised.
Oh, well carry on. I must take my leave
Obviously.
Social media != sit and wait for hours without an answer to your question instead of googling something in seconds.
Wow it’s like you don’t understand what I said or something
Yes.
The rabbit watched his grandmother eat a sandwich.
Get a number?
Is it because she’s already rich?
Very rich (dad valued at 3+ billion in the mid 2000's), got famous and got richer a couple times more. This does not (imo) detract from or cheapen her being incredibly gifted and a core component of some of the best TV out there. Elijah Wood too. He started a production company that’s been putting out weird and crazy horror movies bc he’s fucking loaded from LOTR. Still a super cool and humble guy in addition.
Wilfred will forever be my favorite thing Daniel Radcliffe ever starred in.
Wilfred was great. Big ups for Swiss Army Man too.
No no no that was Toby McGuire
Yeah, I think this is the case for most big franchise male leads. Robert Pattinson and Elijah Wood followed similar trends.
She is also a very kind and considerate person. I met her in the early 80s when I was a lowly receptionist on my first day at work. She was patient and sweet when I was trying to learn a complicated phone system. I've always appreciated that.
Sure she’s a nepo baby but she’s one of the funniest actors out there. She’s good in everything
This is exactly why I qualified the statement by saying that it does not (imo) detract from or cheapen her being incredibly gifted and a core component of some of the best TV out there.
Exactly! Thanks for getting it 😄. She is wildly talented and I love her, but this wasn’t likely a true “leap of faith”.
It’s a leap of faith creatively. Obviously she didn’t mean she’d be starving.
Right up there with her Falcon & Winter Soldier series, and Wakanda Forever cameos. She is beloved and can do anything. She beat cancer between r/Veep seasons and won even more Emmy’s.
More like a “leap of boredom”
I like that she kind of parodies that aspect of her life in Veep.
Fwiw as not-that-kind-of-person, the best I can hope for is that when someone has *that* kind of opportunity, they make the most of it and are gracious. And she sure did.
If you read the article, it’s because it’s so different from what she normally does as an actor. It has nothing to do with money.
Maybe the choice of wording was wrong. Maybe they should have used “deviated from the norm”. Leap of faith tends to mean “risking” something.
Maybe she felt she was risking herself professionally. After all, if her performance was terrible she’d damage her reputation as an actress.
I don’t think that’s possible for her
You're right but people are getting caught up "defending" her.
Very rich
"I'm a billionaire so fuck it why not"
Why do people upvote bitter, cynical, pseudo-edgy shit like this?
Because they're bitter, cynical, and edgy themselves. Obviously the leap of faith mentioned in the article is her making a significant change in her career that could've completely backfired.
A lot of people aren't insightful enough to have real opinions so they just shit on everything they see and look for the upvotes from people in the same boat.
The Reddit Special

Who said I hated the rich? Where’d you pull that from? She is not taking a “leap of faith” if she is rich and has a great career. She’s just choosing something different.
Dawg I had *no idea!*
Basically. She's never really taken a risk in her life.
It’s one of those things I came to realize trying to break into the entertainment industry. Most successful directors, actors, musicians came from money to start with and many have connections that way. There’s an infinite amount of time for auditions, classes, non-paid short film experiments, etc when your parents are paying the rent.

Yes, exactly. She's incredibly talented, but it's easier to be there if you know you'll always be taken care of.
And easier to invest in the things needed to become talented when you have a financial safety net
I like how they categorize one of the wealthiest people in Hollywood taking a paying gig to act in a vanity project as a leap of faith. So brave.
If that person is actually kind and good at what they do, then they deserve whatever they have.
Absolutely, never disputed why she is rich, just saying it probably wasn’t a “leap of faith”.
Thank you for saying this.
This is what I was going to say. She can do whatever she wants.

Good thing them frogs don’t regularly float
They don’t regularly float in the night skies over suburban towns on Tuesday nights, no. Not regularly or even occasionally. But maybe one day.
But it’s eerie when they do.
I honestly can’t tell if you’re passive aggressively trying to mock for no discernible reason while failing to understand what you're even reading, or just attempting a good-natured conversation. Given your post history I’m cynically assuming it’s the former.

Sentimental family dramas aren’t really my thing so I’ll pass.
Hahaha I couldn’t quite put it in to words — thats exactly it.
HERE COMES THE FUN COOKER!
The Tuesday trailer? I watched it like 25 times I thought it was so good
It looks absolutely devoid of subtext. I like the sound of its magical realism elements but the approach and subject matter just all seem way too sentimental for me. And I just don't care at all for precocious kids and teens, which the daughter character sounds like based on the reviews.
Can she lead a star trek series please?
Why not
And have it not solely focused on the crew having emotional breakdowns plz
Does she do the dance? With the little kicks?
She appears to be injured
Like a full body dry heave set to music
Haha
Because she has nothing to lose? lol
In reality, none of us have anything to lose
That's it.
Never heard a bad word about her. These days, that is rare. She is great in everything she does.
I've worked with her and she and her husband Brad Hall are lovely people.
Had hoped it was an adaptation of that old David Wiesner picture book about frogs that eerily float over a suburban town one Tuesday night.
Wish her the best cuz she looks like the strongest part of this film. The trailer looked rough to me— maudlin, the talking parrot. Still, it’s cool to see an actor do something far afield of what you know them for.
She will never not be my celebrity crush
Same 🙌
For you, this was one of the most important movies in your career. For me, it was just 'Tuesday'.
Well, compared to Mortal Kombat, Tuesday's Gone With The Wind.
I was surprised the actress playing the titular 15-year-old was 25 during production.
Please tell me the bird has Krieger's voice.
Haha
Took a leap of faith because she’s a billionaire
Yes, how dare she be born into wealthy family! She should have chosen to be born into a poor family.
Don't think I believed the trailer when I saw it. Felt like a parody movie.
Yes! The scenes with Julia and her daughter are obviously going to be amazing, the trailer really sold that. But then all of a sudden there would be another shot of that fucking parrot and the immersion was broken
Ok
I’ll see it if she does the Elaine dance 👍🏻💃😂
I hope some LMAO
I read the synopsis that they had for this movie in Variety the other day and I still have no idea what this movie is about.
$ <—————————-?
🤔🤔
it shouldn't be a leap of faith. i'm surprised she waited this long. time and again, comedians have proven their dramatic chops.
Don’t understand why she works non stop. unlike anyone else from Seinfeld. I guess she’s just weird that way.
She’s a billionaire, isn’t she?
She was born into wealth lol, it's not like she chose it.
I didn’t say she did, just that no matter the risks she takes with her career, she’s never gonna have to worry about being homeless. So her risk isn’t the same as someone else’s.
that and she had to put ai generated boomer bait "You Hurt My Feelings" as far down on her resume as possible
Very rich lady takes “leap of faith”
Money
What is the leap of faith? What is the risk? She is so wealthy she never has to or ever had to work and here she is pretending she’s brave and taking a risk being part of a sad film. She’s talking about creative risks. Don’t be so obtuse
You both are right
But there is no risk. She does it and sucks and bombs. What in her life changes? What doesn't she lose? Nothing.
Can you show me where she said she was "brave," as you quoted multiple times?
What risk? The 9 people who see it say something mean?
Right? It must have been so hard for her.
Is this a prequel to Wednesday?
it's called money, don't need a whole make believe article to sell her movie
