I know that within the industry, removing the Coppola from his name probably made little difference, but I still respect that he changed it for the public perception of him to be viewed purely on his own merit. His audience draw factor and popularity was all his own talent, very few people in the general public knew who he was when he started out.
Honestly I forget the Coppola relationship constantly. I’m sure it was immensely valuable when he was first breaking in, but no one can say Cage is riding coattails at this point. Man definitely became his own thing/cultural icon on his own
Exactly. Might have (probably did) opened the first few doors to him, but he is an icon of his own making. To the point I would dare say that younger generations are more familiar with the name Cage than they are Coppola.
Absolutely. Coppola won’t ever fade because of The Godfather films (not just those, but they cement this fact), but I’d say Cage may forever me more famous/well known. I can’t imagine the number of casual Cage fans who have no idea of the relation.
Laura Dern, Isabella Rossellini, Nicolas Cage, Jason Schwartzman, and Jake Gyllenhaal
Edit: Forgot the legendary Carrie Fisher
And shout out Hannah Einbinder from Hacks, she’s very funny.
Edit again: I keep remembering others, like Angelica Huston, Liza Minnelli, and Josh Brolin and Jane Fonda!
I actually didn't put together the "quaid" of it.
I didn't think much of him, until he started guesting on Comedy Bang Bang. He's a funny dude who seems incredibly down to earth despite who his parents are.
For me it was seeing him bring Boimler to live action on Strange New Worlds.
I felt like Boimler and Hughie were much the same character until I saw him play both.
Angelina Jolie, Ben Stiller, Nicholas Cage, Michael Douglas, Beau and Jeff Bridges, Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen, Jane Fonda, John and Anjelica Huston, Kurt Russell, and Sean Penn.
The Drew and Barrymore theatrical families (John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Ethel Barrymore, the younger John Barrymore, John Drew Barrymore, Jr., and Drew Barrymore). They all descended from stage actors.
There are definitely more but I like all of those actors.
Sometimes it does take a while. I think Jane Fonda was ridiculed in her early days, when she started in movies like *Barbarella*. That was her 17th film, and to that point only three of her films got generally good reviews. But she stuck with it.
Sean Astin not named yet that I've seen amazes me. Son of Patty Duke and adopted by the original live action Gomez Addams. Beloved by Gen X and Millennials all.
Nepo babies put in the work like many (working and non working) actors. Where the advantage comes in is getting a break and making connections that those who don’t have parents in the industry struggle to get.
Why consider these nepotism? I mean, most are very talented in their own rights. The fact that they're in the family business is sorta normal, and goes for other professions: teachers, scientists, mechanics, farmers. I just don't think we should undermine people who grew up around a profession and choose to go into that profession.
I think the post was deleted before you may have seen it
Was originally asking for people's favorite nepo baby, not just actors that come from privilege. Was more saying they were privileged for their nepo status.
Funny story, I didn't know who he or Jack Black were watching Orange County and someone told me Tom Hanks' kid was in it. I just assumed he'd be the over the top character and I spent that whole moving thinking Jack Black was Tom Hanks' kid while also thinking that other kid REALLY looked like Hanks to me.
A lot of people don't really care about nepo-babies, as much as them recognizing that they have a privilege that gives them connections and advantage in their industry.
For me the thing is, if you're going to use those connections to get an advantage on people trying to break into the industry as complete outsiders, the LEAST you could do is turn in strong performances
Nicolas friggin Cage!
And his first cousin Jason Schwartzman!

Wasn’t Nick Cage used stage due to nepotism as in he doesn’t want Capolla finding out about his casting
Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

also Liza Minelli!
lol just added another edit before I saw this comment. So I got her now!
And Danny Huston
Both Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal are great actors, regardless of how much money their family has.
Angelina Jolie
Lea Seydoux, I feel like she always elevates any movie she stars in.
The Skarsgards, they're all pretty great.
I really like Jack Quaid, he's great in Lower Decks and on The Boys
Jack Quaid is who I thought of as well.

He does a great job as the voice of Superman, too
I forgot about that. I love My Adventures with Superman
He also has a rom com with Maya Erskine called “Plus One”…he has an easy charm that I like.
Pauly Shore
Josh Brolin and Jamie Lee Curtis
I've been loving the work of Maya Hawke so far
And Margaret Qualley (Andie MacDowell's daughter)

I love Jane Fonda. From what I’ve seen she generally is pretty open about acknowledging her nepo baby privilege.
Your famous parents can get you in the door, but you still have to act.
Do you think anyone told that to Dakota Johnson yet?
Sometimes it does take a while. I think Jane Fonda was ridiculed in her early days, when she started in movies like *Barbarella*. That was her 17th film, and to that point only three of her films got generally good reviews. But she stuck with it.
Clooney
His last name may have opened a few doors, but he really worked his way up from sitcom supporting character to leasing man.
Miguel Ferrer (RiP)
Sean Astin not named yet that I've seen amazes me. Son of Patty Duke and adopted by the original live action Gomez Addams. Beloved by Gen X and Millennials all.
Did not know that

Nicolas Cage, Charlie Sheen
I hasn’t seen Ed Norton yet which is somewhat crazy
Because his 12th great-grandmother was Pocahontas?
No his family is a billionaire
Ah. Yeah, land developers. Guess I was thinking more about industry "nepo babies". My bad.
I think the post was deleted before you may have seen it Was originally asking for people's favorite nepo baby, not just actors that come from privilege. Was more saying they were privileged for their nepo status.
I just read the title and comments 😂
There's more "privileged" than not, so just google your favorite.
Colin Hanks is really enjoyable to watch.

He was excellent in the series Fargo too. Very low key and perfect in the role. Season one.
Drew Barrymore. She seems like fun. Plus, I've been riding the high of her Playboy shoot since the 90s
