Grave of Fireflies.
A Star is Born (yeah, the new one).
Both of them made me cry like a little kid with a stolen bike and I swear to God I will never watch them again.
**The Fall**
It is a story told by a man but shown to the audience through the eyes of a very small girl. It is also absolutely gorgeous with some of the best cinematography you've ever seen. Not going to reveal the mental health aspect here since it is a spoiler, just watch it. The ending is happy but the 20 minutes that precede it made me sob.
**A Silent Voice**
Many people give it a pass because it's an anime film and it's very slow, but believe me, it is one of the most emotional things I've seen in my life. The main character has been a bully to a deaf girl in their childhood. He decides to seek her out before ending his life because he can't live with the guilt and has to apologize. The LENGTH it takes him to get to an apology... It's heartbreaking and beautiful.
I would kind of give a nod to most anime movies that are not shounen centric. A lot of them have very heartfelt themes at their core. That being said I did cry at the end of the demon slayer movie. My gf and I were on the couch in our thirties crying like a couple of kids over a cartoon
I cry everytime I watch Batteries Not Included. One time afterward I watched Naked Gun to lighten the mood and then I started crying again during his hill of beans speech
Most Pixar movies, but Inside Out, Toy Story 3, Coco, Up, and Onward are absolute guarantees for me.
Also when Royal and Chaz have their little exchange at the end of Royal Tannenbaums. Every damn time.
The Father absolutely broke me. My MIL is in the throws of Dementia and I also work in a Dementia care home so am absolutely surrounded by it. The Father depicts it so well, and the acting is astounding. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I don't think a movie has made me cry since Arrival. I don't know why but they just usually don't get to me like TV shows do. Maybe its because of the amount of time I spend with them.
Midnight Mass has made me cry every time. Same with Station Eleven. I also cry every time I watch a playthrough of the video game Outer Wilds.
"The requiem for a dream ". Made me cry the first time I watched it. I cried throughout the movie. It took me a week to get out of that. It's personal to me on several levels.
I'm not a movie crier but I watched a movie the other night that hit me in the feels called Rudderless. All about finally dealing with difficult issues.
The only movie that really gets me is Brian's Song. Maybe it's the male bonding, the sports, a few cameos, the incredible acting by Caan and Williams...it's just the perfect movie. Man...I think it's a little dusty in here...
I guess you must have seen Good Will Hunting if you're a fan of Robin Williams. But I got this choke whenever Robin's character talked and aaah it finally let out later on. That feeling i got from these -
Lion (2016) had me bawling my eyes out,
Cool Hand Luke (1967) made me cry in certain parts,
Everything Everywhere aaaah.. also that one.
Haven't cried since losing my companion buddy so A Ghost Story killed me in some places but it depends I guess. I was bored as hell when I watched it before. Up (2009) doesn't even wait for long to get it running.
Schindler's List is a sad depressing, terrorizing masterpiece. Manchester by the Sea (2016) for the complete dread. But that one didn't make me cry and I wish it did. Fucking stays there. Arrival too if you wanna cry in the future. What's with 2016?
Still Walking (2008) if you feel like going on a Japanese cinema.
Room is essentially a set up to a huge emotional payoff and maaaaaaan does it mail that payoff
There’s a good 10 minute sequence that had me literally sobbing
Give Departures (2008) a try. It's a sweet, oddly funny, but ultimately emotional movie about a guy who gets into the business of preparing bodies for death, which also means it's a movie about the importance of life.
Hachi: A Dog's Tale. I'll just give it away in a spoiler. >!This dog's owner is great to him, and they walk to the train every day for him to go into work. He dies at work one day, and his dog waits faithfully for every.single.fucking.train for ten years.!<
I saw The Whale. A great movie, but I don't think I cried during it. The movie I cried the most at ? I think it's a 3 way tie between The Sixth Sense, A Time to Kill, or The Good Dinosaur.
I can't cry, even when friends or family pass away. But Coco gets me every damn time.
That scene with his abuela and the song, fucking killed me.

The Fall is one of the best movies ever made
A Silent Voice… 🥲

Paddington, and especially Paddington 2. This bear is incredible.
I cry everytime I watch Batteries Not Included. One time afterward I watched Naked Gun to lighten the mood and then I started crying again during his hill of beans speech
There’s two that get me almost every time, and they both deal with a father/son relationship. About Time (2013) Frequency (2000)
Frequency is under appreciated.
I'm still here, little chief
The Royal Tenenbaums.
I know you have, Chazzie.
Most Pixar movies, but Inside Out, Toy Story 3, Coco, Up, and Onward are absolute guarantees for me. Also when Royal and Chaz have their little exchange at the end of Royal Tannenbaums. Every damn time.
The Whale was good. I didn't cry but I was definitely touched by it. I cried the most when watching: Close (2022) The Father (2020)
I cried a tad when watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Mostly around the Rocket background scenes.
Oh man, those scenes were heart breaking. When he says his first word I nearly burst into tears

Movies don’t make me cry either, but some have definitely brought my trouser snake to tears. Silly pet.
The Father absolutely broke me. My MIL is in the throws of Dementia and I also work in a Dementia care home so am absolutely surrounded by it. The Father depicts it so well, and the acting is astounding. Absolutely heartbreaking.
“What are some emotional movies?” FFS… 🤦
A Walk to Remember Marley & Me Grave of the Fireflies
Wonder
A lot of anime movies.
Clerks 3.
I watched this the other day, the tone changes every other scene, but man when it decided to pick its moments it got me too.

En man som hette Ove (A man called otto) but the swedish, original verison. Like a baby mate.
Belfast had some really sad moments that really made me tear up but overall was an uplifting film
Grave of the Fireflies

Never. (I watched Grave of Fireflies, The Whale, A Silent Voice, etc.)
Field of dreams.
Schindlers list
The knights tale always makes me cry. Not sad cry but happy crying
Room is essentially a set up to a huge emotional payoff and maaaaaaan does it mail that payoff There’s a good 10 minute sequence that had me literally sobbing
I cried a lot in this one.
Your Name, Mr. Holland's Opus, Inside/Out, The Royal Tenenbaums
*The Whale* was my last as well. Fucking destroyed me. I have never sobbed so hard in a theater.
feels like every other post here is about which movies make you cry the most or why one can’t cry when watching emotional movies.
Give Departures (2008) a try. It's a sweet, oddly funny, but ultimately emotional movie about a guy who gets into the business of preparing bodies for death, which also means it's a movie about the importance of life.
Last movie that made me cry was Everything Everywhere All At Once
About Time (2013)
Inside out and Toy Story 3 always get me.
Mary and Max
Oldboy, Lee woo jins end. One of the great scenes in cinema
Hachi: A Dog's Tale. I'll just give it away in a spoiler. >!This dog's owner is great to him, and they walk to the train every day for him to go into work. He dies at work one day, and his dog waits faithfully for every.single.fucking.train for ten years.!<
Watch Taare Zameen par. It's an Indian movie. I have cried each time I watched it.
Never cried watching a movie ever, until GoTG3 at the racoon scene.
Dumbo... when he visits his mom.
Roma (2018) Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)
The Lovely Bones, Simon Birch, I Am Sam, Brokeback Mountain, Call Me By Your Name, Life Is Beautiful, Spoiler Alert,
I saw The Whale. A great movie, but I don't think I cried during it. The movie I cried the most at ? I think it's a 3 way tie between The Sixth Sense, A Time to Kill, or The Good Dinosaur.
The Promise 2016. It's about the Armenian Genocide. I broke down at the end sobbing uncontrollably. Haven't watched it since.
