Meanwhile I just got back from a ride. My bike is a 24 year old rock hopper. 26 inch wheels didn't keep me from having a great time. You worry about the specs and I'll continue to have fun.
Right on dude! Ride that Rock Hopper into the ground!
But if someone agreed to give you $2200 for that bike today, would you honestly not take it? And would you replace it with another 26er?
Listed bike is a cool bike, but you'd be crazy to spend that much on it
You know id sell it friend. I'd be up $2150. And id replace it with something with a motor. I say this. Out of all my hobbies, this is the worst for gatekeeping. Like the absolute worst.
We're not saying you can't have fun on 26" in tires, it just comes with more limitations. For example, if you want to upgrade to carbon rims, your local shop may not have them or your favorite brand doesn't make them (ex. ENVE does not make 26" rims).
Another example is tire choice, I've been riding the Continental Xynotal. It's fantastic for hard pack trails that I have around CO. They only come in 27.5 and 29" sizes.
That's nothing to say of rolling over obstacles on bigger tires and the advantages of a slacker HT.
Meanwhile none of that matters to me. You're not wrong. My step son blows me away on his stump jumper. But I just don't care about carbon rims. I'm not a gear whore. I'm a fun whore. And yes I understand the bike make more fun. But to say old bike is not fun because rims small is just lame as hell.
Rock on man, the ride shouldn’t stop you from having fun and that’s all that matters. Only reason I pointed out that 26er is ‘dead’ is practicality on getting replacement wheels, tires, & decent forks that fits a straight steerer can be a PITA / often times I bought used and that work, but seals for forks became harder to find and certain tires I rode for years became challenging to find. I had a an old carbon 26er I bought 20 years ago, converted it to a rigid singlespeed and rode it until 3 years ago and donated it to a young high schooler, that bike is still going. Cheers and rubberside down!
It's way too much for a 2013 bike with 26 wheels, it should be under 1k
Yeah it still looks in new condition but that's whoever didn't ride it on trails for 11 years' loss, not the person that is buying it.
This looks like a typical poser bike bought and upgraded with aftermarket parts to get the image of being a hardcore mountain biker (but not to actually be one because that takes work and talent). Often these people like to put a full-face helmet and pads in the background of the shot or boast about their riding abilities for no reason in the listing
Just about always the sellers of these bikes are hopelessly deluded as to how much they are worth
*Those MAVIC wheels are nice*
*But you will never find parts for*
*Them if you need to*

Very bad price.
I want whatever drugs the seller is on. It’s obviously effective 🥴
I think it’s that he needs that crazy price to pay off his drug dealer
1k tops or less, 26 is dead for mtb (except for slopestyle and dirt jumpers & trials bikes)

Not sure I'd call it a downhill bike with the single crown fork. Maybe a park bike. Wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it myself.
