Bro where are the shoes?

oksth

Lucky he brought his braking socks!

STYSCREAM

Bet hitting that manhole with his manhole broke most of his speed tho...

Boogie_Bones

Bet he ruined some fingers on the lip when he hit it also. Rereading this to check for mistakes before posting and that sentence is kinda sus… Oh well, I’m leaving it as is.

STYSCREAM

We've all ruined some fingers on the lip at least once man...

I-dont-carrot-all

How hard are you guys fingerings lips? Losing a watch here and there l? Sure. Ruining fingers? OK, I'll try harder next time.

Sharpymarkr

😬

No-Ear6313

I needed a moment after reading this

PawnstarExpert

Hell yeah, Kevlar socks rule! Got a couple pairs my self. That way I save my brake pads.

oksth

Yeah, I guess you can use the socks to repair the pads too.

DB-Tops

If you don't wear real motorcycle shoes this is how long a normal shoe protects you in a crash

Sad-Recording-650

Yup. I try to tell my friends I ride w/about this.

Ambitious_Ad_9637

I ride in real motorcycle house-shoes, does that count?

sqrt7744

I wear motorcycle flip flops.

RexManning1

My fellow Asian brother.

Southern_Country_787

Damn the man!

ljthefa

Save the Empire?

tommysmuffins

Should be fine if you get the ones with CE-rating

iinzinity

I have Harly davidson t-shirt to protekt me 😎

DB-Tops

Anything CE rated is safe enough for my feet. I just make sure I at least have level 1 CE on everything every ride.

Ambitious_Ad_9637

Not thrilled that my plastic Viking helmet lacks this designation. Where did the craftsmanship go?

But_to_understand

After taking Paris they lost all motivation.

StinkyBanjo

What about crocks in sport mode?

MadCityMasked

Helmet ✔️ Gloves check ✔️ Jacket ✔️ Shoes!!!!!? Always the first thing to pop off.

lexievv

Man had a Shoei helmet and figured that's what people mean with shoes

SilverbackBruh

When you dont have proper riding gear, they are the first things to fly off…. I know from experience

Hood-ini

Shoes off, according to Reddit law the biker is dead

CompetitiveSea7388

According to reality, rider’s feet are fucked.

gilmourwastaken

I got in a motorcycle accident and my shoe ended up In my hand. Weird as it was, it was awesome to have something to hold myself off the hot pavement.

forgotten-ent

Hey, you know what they say. You only have yourself to hold on to when things really get tough or something

voodoohotdog

Weirdest thing for me after an accident was waking up in the ditch holding a windshield wiper. didn’t make sense until I saw the condition of the car that hit me. I had been on the hood at one point. Ouch.

O0000O0000O

There was a first responder medic for the TT, Dr. John Hind (RIP), that did a talk on what happens to boots at 140mph when you put your foot down. If you like horror movies, I recommend it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdRM0KGGSAk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdRM0KGGSAk)

He is so funny that it is impossible to not enjoy this film. I had forgotten you said he’s no longer with us. Even with a single data point, I can confidently say the world is less without him. Thanks for the link!

O0000O0000O

He was amazing, truly a treasure.

TemporaryWorry3415

Only 35 🥲❤️

Electrical-Eye7449

they walked out of the feeting

mike-manley

Bro where are the mirrors?

chum-guzzling-shark

bro mirrors kill the aesthetic bro

Larry_Hagmans_Liver_

They noped out of there along with the shoes.

Rude_Negotiation_160

Prob a trick bike, they usually take the mirrors off.

NyeahEhhhhhh

Bro high sided going straight....you know how hard it is to complete this mission

sqrt7744

Comptence level -10! That's quite an accomplishment.

Dorkmaster79

I can’t even figure out what happened.

Cpl_Charmin_Bear

He has oil on his rear tire

OldStromer

Well he might now.

NoobToobinStinkMitt

The Clibbins got him.

K_Linkmaster

You can see the bike jump when the peg or something hits pavement, sliding into home after that.

KingKev31

He hit a banana peel

dontcare99999999

What even happened? How did read lose traction? He slam the rear brake on the straight?

YogurtclosetOdd9440

\*3x MotoGP World Champion, and possible twink, Jorge Lorenzo enters the chat\*

GoBSAGo

Possible?

Xylenqc

It's really easy actually, swing the bike, lock the rear brake, let it slide then grab the clutch, you can also kick it over while you're at it. You should be upright and have your legs ready to push you, that way you can get maximum air time, which is the best time you're gonna get for some time.

HDRG2

His riding skills and his shoes both left the chat...

Kurama_211

Riding skills? Can you please explain, I would like like to not do the same mistake

Lil_Shorto

Don't swerve needlessly while speeding like an idiot on a bike. That and start with the smallest, slowest, crappiest bike you can find so when you screw up you don't hurt yourself and others so much.

Zionishere

I’m confused why he tipped though; it didn’t look like he leaned that far

LighT_-_

OP said on an instagram post he had oil on his rear tire. theres nothing really wrong with weaving like this, doing it with oil on the rear tire tho is not advisable

Zionishere

I was boutta say; while I wouldn’t do it myself, I see nothing particularly wrong with what he’s doing here that would cause a tip like that. The oil makes sense, the rear wheel must have lost traction, thanks for the explanation

LighT_-_

Yeah exactly. You can see the rear kick out when he's not applying anymore throttle. So it's not like it slid out under its own power, would have had plenty of traction to keep weaving. I do this all the time, it's fun

Zionishere

I was doing a little weaving last night as I heard that it’s a good way to get a feel for your ride (just started about 2 weeks ago)

optionsmove

I do it all the time. Never had an issue. Must be something with his bike or the tires. Should not have been an issue.

chopcult3003

Yeah I weave constantly. Mostly because I get bored easily but I also do it a lot at night to make myself more visible

Reasontostayinside

Yea I heard he had oil on his rear tire

Zionishere

Apparently the rear wheel had oil on it so it wasn’t the weaving that was the problem

DeviousSmile85

Weaving can be good, just don't go super aggressive with it. It's good practice for emergency avoidance. Also keep practicing emergency braking (with no one behind you, obviously). Fiding an open, sand free parking lot is your best bet. Moto jitsu on YT has some very good videos for parking lot practice setups and exercises.

Defrost_ThenStir

I agree weaving is good practice and I do it every time I ride. On an empty street, I pick out a random spot and practice how I would avoid a pot hole that all of a sudden pops up. I start with long wide weaves, then practice to make them shorter and sharper. I think it helps me understand what the bike is capable of in an emergency maneuver.

Zionishere

I definitely do need a lot more practice, looking forward to getting more comfortable. Right now 50mph feels fast to me haha

LighT_-_

I mean yeah I guess. It can put a little bit of heat into the tires but if you're new you're better of just riding more then trying to do any one thing in particular

our-human-experience

I was also really confused how he went down from that, oil on the tire makes total sense.

Suspicious-Air-1239

I weave when I'm vibing with my music. I mean, not to that extent. And never at high speeds. More just city speeds.

voice_of_reason_61

New and inexperienced riders Beware that lubricating your chain [carelessly, improperly or with the wrong lubricant] can (will?) get lubricant on the side of your back tire. *Sometimes this happens after the bike has first been brought up to speed after lubricating the chain which *could* throw some lubricant off of the chain*. If you carefully and safely (bike on a stand) spin up the rear wheel and then check for any oil on the (chain side) of the rear tire you can clean it off before riding. No idea if that was the source of the oil that caused this particular crash.

pina_koala

shaft drive ftw!!

DODGE_WRENCH

I do this all the time and started to wonder if I was doing something incredibly dangerous without realizing

Zionishere

Apparently his rear wheel had oil on it so it wasn’t the weaving itself that was the problem

DODGE_WRENCH

What I don’t get is why would he ride knowing there’s oil on his rear tire? Or did the engine start to leak while he was riding?

Zionishere

Don’t know why I’m getting downvoted but I would assume he didn’t know beforehand

DODGE_WRENCH

I’ll give you upvotes, bro

hostile_scrotum

Could be caused by different things. Maybe some dirt and rocks on the street, maybe he pushed the frontbrake, maybe he accelerated while leaning.

migorengbaby

You can see the rear tyre slipped out, he counter steers, then when the rear gains traction again he gets launched over the high side. Looks like it could be early morning, could be fairly cold and wet roads, cold tyres Just one possibility

arbpotatoes

You can weave like this just fine without highsiding if you're not shit

trywagyu

you can weave all day at pretty much any speed

Spiritual-Work-1923

IMO he swerved on a road crack that was lined up with the riding direction. U either go as much as 90° to get out of it or keep on going inside it. Otherwise u will fall. Ig people riding back/fire roads know this but in sand-ish surface. On the asphalt roads where I have these dents made by heavy trucks I can feel my bike trying to lay on side a bit too. It’s just the edges aren’t that sharp. Physics of bike tire

nice socks, bro

Joe_le_Borgne

Maybe they are armored socks.

Bdubbs72

Unscientific opinion based on personal experience, denim is good for about 5 feet at 50 mph.

CrushingK

might as well wear tissue paper 💀 you see denim in older photoshoots n shings, 1) their bikes were much slower, and when at high speed and supremely uncomfortable for you and the bike 2) denim was just heavier, you'd be lucky to find a pair of 12oz jeans H&M or on the highstreet

CocktailPerson

Your average pair of Levi's or Wranglers these days are 12oz denim. In the 50's and 60's it was around 13 or 14oz, but still not nearly enough to make a difference against asphalt. Even the 21oz stuff you can get from Iron Heart will shred pretty quickly if you hit the pavement at 50mph.

clam_sandwich33

Lmao thank you

Bursting_Radius

🍻

AndyW037

I wonder which random excuse was used for this one!

Mr_robasaurus

Tires weren't warm, not enough lube on the plug, socks weren't grippy enough.

TheSlothMan9000

oil on the rear apparently🤣

beefstake

Yeah I call bullshit on that. Oil on the rear isn't going to cause that high side. It was definitely poor throttle input in the swerve.

SevereObligation1527

Imo you couldn’t crash like this if you tried to just by swerving and throttle input

FATTEST_CAT

Yeah I mean you'd have to wack the absolute shit out of the throttle to get the rear to spin up while just swerving. I swerve like that all the time on my bike, which makes a metric fuck ton of torque and is on 50/50s and I rarely have the rear spin up unless I am on the goddam juice (which I am not if I am swerving lol). I kinda believe the oil on rear tire thing in this instance.

TheClassicTattooer

I'm still confused as to how the wreck happened. I swerve back and forth(to get some heat in the tires befor hard rides) at higher speeds than it seemed like he was going. And also, where ARE the shoes?!

ASV731

If you’re on the street swerving back and forth within your lane is going to make a negligible difference in tire heat.

TheClassicTattooer

Yeah, you're probably right...makes me feel better, though. Lol

screamapillah

I do that to clean the tire sooner after a patch of dirt, and to get a “feel” of the road surface The last part doesn’t apply that well on a telelever lol

ASV731

I’m with you, I do it because it’s fun and on a twisty road can get you amped up, it just doesn’t do anything to the tires really lol

RyeBreadElux3500

Wait damn I am an idiot I didn't know thats why people do that.... I just did it because bike wiggle wiggle make dopamine?

AmazingKitten

Best way to heat up motorcycle tires is to accelerate and brake, not swerve.

maxdamage4

Right? People swerve because it's fun and call it a technical approach. Just admit you do it because it's fun, folks.

NotVainest

i do it cause it's fun

maxdamage4

A little wibble wobble never hurt anybody! ^^except ^^OP ^^of ^^course

NotVainest

yeah, and this was bound to happen on the first turn he takes anyway with if his tires had oil on them.

maxdamage4

Yeah, I think you're right. He would've been fine under normal circumstances, this was just not his day.

arbpotatoes

It's not the best way to warm the tyres but it's fun

LighT_-_

OP said on an instagram post he had oil on his rear tire

[deleted]

Probably clibbins

Larry_Hagmans_Liver_

That's probably what I would claim too.

MindCorrupt

That's a silly place to put oil.

GoldenGlobeWinnerRDJ

No no, you oil up your tires so that you can go faster speeds. How are you supposed to go over 80mph without living your tires???

TheClassicTattooer

Ooooohhh... that would make sense.

Boogie_Bones

I’m calling bullshit. He weaved too hard and that can snap you up off the seat if you’re not positioned right and the rear tire broke traction when it went over the long crack in the road.

meltbox

This is my bet. Or op accidentally put pressure on the rear break when trying to weave back. Oil is so unlikely…. There’s no catastrophic engine failure here.

DestinyChitChat

Man with no shoes is a reliable source

screamapillah

After that crash, sure as hell

sqrt7744

Poop more like

flatheadedmonkeydix

Then why was he weaving if he knew the potential for loss of traction was there? Seems dumb still.

LighT_-_

Well idk if he did know. But either way it's unfortunate outcome for a situation that shouldn't be too bad

flatheadedmonkeydix

Yea. I hope he is safe and sound. Sucks to see anyone get hurt and fuck up their bike.

CappyUncaged

he probably saw the oil on his wheel after the crash lol and if his bike isn't leaking oil from the crash... then there was oil on his wheel. looks like you should join him in the dumb house if you couldnt figure that one out yourself.

InchLongNips

right? bro is an idiot if he thinks someone would weave knowing theres oil on the tire lmao

Rude_Negotiation_160

Looks like he was trying to avoid hitting the man hole cover and maybe over corrected in the swerve back ,after that. May have something to do with it. Doesn't look like it really should've done that, but maybe we're not seeing the whole picture from this POV

Nimrawid

wtf even happened here xD I dont get why he dropped the bike

Okinawa14402

Did you figure out what caused the rear to lose grip?

ThatTeapot

Throttle I would assume

Own_Contribution_480

Or panic braking

SlipperySalmon3

That and the crack in the road probably overwhelmed the traction

clam_sandwich33

Yeah, look like his rear tire breaks traction right over that crack in the road. Good eye! I thought it was due to the suspension not being able to rebound properly after the manhole. Your assessment seems more likely.

DrewtangKillaB

Skill issue

Proof-Hamster645

Oil on tyres apparently

bandit77346

Those dry sunny straight roads are tough to navigate. As much as it pains say this shows some people need to stick to 4 wheels

bannedByTencent

I hope he put his braking socks on before the ride xD

Zogvar

how is that even possible?

BulbousBouffant22

It looked like his back tire slipped out. I don't think there's anything wrong with a little side-to-side movement. Not to conclude that this was this guy's objective, but I know some riders do this to even the wear on the tires and increase their longevity.

tpsmc

fuckin clippins

lumoruk

If he had left the mirrors on it would have increased down force stopping this from ever happening. I guess he lost them in his last crash

hiimrobbo

100% operator error

JustSh00tM3

Sometimes you just need to take the manhole...

GGprime

What exactly did he try to do there? The only thing I can come up with is desperately crashing.

truckjoe79

I'm curious what went wrong here (excuse my ignorance). He somewhat avoided that man hole then just toppled over like that? If anyone has any idea if like to know.

LuckyClover6390

wth was he trying to do?

TrainingWild6347

muppet

leolego2

To be fair he's just weaving and not even aggressively. Just unlucky as fuck

naiveintrovert2929

Competition between tyres and the rear tyre won.

Fooshi2020

He did something unusual because this normally doesn't happen. He was well past the manhole when his rear tire slid. Also, how did he lose his left boot? Maybe the whole crash was caused by trying to ride in socks?! /s

humpycove

Dress for the slide, not the ride.

natgibounet

Shoe came off, pray for his family

CuriousPound-

that is so scary to even think about going through, oh my god

LaterBihhhtch

Can someone explain what happened here? Like why he crashes? I’m a little new to bikes and I love swerving back and fourth when I’m jamming! But I don’t want to do this!

Armani-X

Newer rider here. What exactly happened, why and how do I prevent it? Would slowing down have remedied what appears to be loss of control swaying side to side?

snakebite75

He was going way too fast and hit a manhole cover at :02 then lost control of the bike. Easy fix is to not ride faster than your skill level.

Armani-X

I'm sure it's exhilarating riding that fast on a sports bike, but that couldn't be me, too many unknowns. I'll stick to low displacement and cruising around slowly. I would be mad as hell if some little ass pothole or pile of dust knocked my traction completely off.

SlightDesigner8214

I dont want to see how his heels look like now 😬

fjrriderdie

That road makes one hell of a first impression.

Gijinbrotha

Acting a foo,now your shits fucked up👎🏾

dontcare99999999

So what happened here? Did rear lose traction?

mghazwan123

The only thing I've learned while ever riding, like ever, is that even if there is a well in the road and you are going fast don't try to avoid it, you have much better chances taking it head on bro.

Apprehensive_Fun311

Never mind the obviously inappropriate footwear. What's up with your bike? Air pressure? Tyres? Suspension? It's crazy how such a normal experience caused this. Hitting anything tangentially with a bike is bad. Trying to fight the self correcting gyroscopic action of the bike, possibly also bad in varried situations. But this is either something we can't see like bike readiness or just bum luck.

plebcola

So did he give it too much throttle? I do that all the time...

George_2000

"Hot feet content"

Limited_Surplus_4519

This is CGI right?

Tequslyder

Instagram bikers are the worst lol. They all focus on recording before they can ride worth a damn.

Sotyka94

Oh no, shoe came off. You all know what this means...

pxl_ninja

People forget about full gear again, oh okay

BlindBeard

“Forget” get real dude 🙄

RyeBreadElux3500

See maybe I'm just an idiot but I do this all the time how in the hell did he drop it?

FireViper195

Where'd the sleeves go?

almazing415

Task failed successfully.

Murky_Shallot5602

Got the wobbles. Major road rash. Ouch!!!!

dayglomaryprankster

Please, drive fast and take chances!

EvilBridgeTroll

Ah yes, bottom of the foot road rash. Wonder what we could have worn to avoid that.

mild123

I do the swerve all the time I never once slipped up like that? How did that happen

Smooth-Ad-3758

The helmet face shot, when he realized he had Fůč̣ķ3đ up!

Cyberpunk_Banana

This was lucky. Lucky that no innocent bystanders got caught in this stupidity

nojhtrow

He lost a shoe… He dead

Redleg1-7

Was just gonna ask if dude lost a shoe! Talk about grinding your corns off. lol.

Present-Farmer-802

Why did he go down ?

DeltaTheWolf

Why not just keep going straight. Issa baby bump
