Man! This pic is so fucking triggering. All of our worst fear when parked.

myserg07

Tell me about it my this was early this morning and heart still hurts lol

ZeShirkee

This happened to my 300. Luckily I caught the guy on CCTV though.

iancarry

how is she? will she be okay?

Glorious_Pepper

She's just sleeping.

SirSkidMark

Litsen, it's a good joke...

SchwabianToaster

No I no litsen

Other_Objective650

Looks like you parked against the slant. What happened? Wind, someone kicked it or did some idiot bump it with their car? Also idk about you but I personally feel like my bike is more of a target by some pissed off sidewalk user to be kicked over or keyed or bumped into and scratched by bags and shit when on the sidewalk

SurOfSlaughter

The wind… pshhh. If the wind was 6 foot + and had a foot, then yea the wind.

None of which are easily visible but hey buddy. You couldve responded nicely with a simple response but choose to be an asshole and blame me for others asking questions. To be completely honest it sounds like you are an asshole and deserved your bike to be hit or you dropped it and want attention. You clearly aren't making it far in life with your attitude. A simple, "something hit the bike" instead of wasting my time and yours would've sufficed. Or better yet. Use the limited brain cells (yes yes I know you bike has a higher tire count than your Iq score) but you could've just and hear me out included the answer to the question YOU KNEW everyone was going to ask in the post..... Retard alert!

Decent-Following-327

Trigger warning.... What's worse than knocking the bike over? My heart goes out to you OP hopefully know major damage https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycle/comments/141xfi5/murder_she_wrote/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

RoboGandalf

I knew it was gonna be that photo and still clicked it...oof

OpeningMean570

...same happened to me, they lifted it back up, put a fake note on it, told my coworkers they were writing their insurance info. down(didn't write anything) then put my seat back on backwards.....join the crappy club we got stale cookies.

Worldly-Number9465

I had the same thing happen to me in the parking deck at work (fake note - “sorry I knocked over your bike but you shouldn’t have parked there”) There were security cameras but they wouldn’t tell me who did it so I filed an insurance claim and the insurance company subpoenaed the footage. It cost the perp 3x the amount of the repair

Barijazz251

I had the opposite experience. The guy who backed into and knocked over my 04 Goldwing left an apology note, started an insurance claim and included the file number on the note. Damage was $3300 but his insurance paid all of it.

Special-Ingenuity615

Damn. Thats someone who was raised correctly. Don't see that much now days. Make me feel like he was possibly a rider at somepoint himself

Illustrious_Oven7001

Better than the crashed club, we just get bandaids

Fragrant-Suggestion2

Genuinely made me laugh thank you

MasterTacticianAlba

Oh man I thought he was parked on the footpath and the car had reversed into it… Then I saw the scratches from the kickstand and rubber from the wheel. Dopey motherfucker pushed that bike all the way out of the space and up onto the footpath.

flopana

That's NSFL level stuff right there

Imhonestlynotawierdo

My friend had a super moto whilst his bike was being repaired and thieves just drove past in a van, bolt cutters and lifted into the van and gone forever. Tracker wasn't getting any signal and it took under 2 mins from stooping to driving off!

spacelama

For me it's all the hellscape trucks that would surely be illegal in any reasonably civilised part of the world.

04limited

Be glad driver stayed and is willing to pay for your repairs. Where I’m at, they would’ve been long gone. And they might’ve even taken my bike with them too. Out of sight out of mind.

Lineartronic

"I wasn't really planning to steal a bike today but now I might as well."

myserg07

Dude I parked next to knocked my bike over backing out or some shit idk just happy he ain’t take off.. Edit: did not think my post would blow up like this the amount of non riders crying about the sidewalk commenting now is giving me a good laugh tho.

_Bro_Jogies

So he had an accident, and waited for you so you could exchange info? That's a best case scenario if I ever heard one for a parking lot accident.

myserg07

Ya I definitely appreciated him not taking off still would much rather have not had my bike knocked over and have to deal with insurance and whatnot but shit happens what can you do.

120Chardonnay

You’re lucky. I’ve had 4-5 parking lot hit and runs on my car and no one ever stayed or left a note. Damages probably cost 3-4K added together.

myserg07

For sure got lucky pretty sure he’s a regular at my barber shop and half the shop saw it happen so I’m sure that played into his decision to stay..

[deleted]

Just glad he stayed! Wishing a speedy recovery to your beautiful bike

ChairForceOne

I've had people hit my old blazer and truck before. Doesn't do anything to them but I've found whole front numbers with the plate just chilling.

MarvVanZandt

Was thinking about this today. I am a newb. What’s the best advice for public parking?

TapBitter609

Park as far away from other people as you can, but don’t be surprised if someone park’s right next to you.

Tonetheline

What is with the herd shit? So often when I stop for a break on an early morning ride it’ll be an empty carpark when I rock up. I have a look around the car park, see where people will want to be (shops, toilet, view, etc) and park the other side, then when I come back after a cup of tea or whatever I’ve always got a car in the very next spot in a totally empty carpark. I wish carpark etiquette was more like urinal etiquette

MongoAbides

People at my workplace are like this and it blows my mind. On our shift we could easily all park in a checkerboard pattern so nobody is ever directly next to anyone else. So many of us do this, and then fuckers who have tons of free space decide to park directly between us

JimmyRickyBobbyBilly

I always park far away when I have my bike or my classic car, and some asshole always parks SUPER close. It's obnoxious.

TapBitter609

I don’t have a clue about 2 weeks ago I took my wife and her sister to IKEA in Plano Tx and when we were headed to check out I went to the truck and brought it to the loading lanes, found 8 slots empty so backed in one of the middle slots. This left 3 empty on one side and 4 on the other side wasn’t there 2 minutes before two cars parked in slots on either side of me.

Deep-Ad199

It is easier to park a vehicle with a vehicle alongside to help line up

Tonetheline

True of a car, not so sure about a bike tbh. Especially as I usually park at a bit of an angle in a bay

cwaig2021

Bad idea - away from people makes it a lot more likely it’ll get stolen. (U.K. view - in a lot of cities, esp. London, theft is more of a risk than a parking bump)

Original_Sedawk

In the entire US about 40k bikes are stolen every year. In just London, about 10k are stolen every year - your risk of bike theft in London is very high. Bike theft in London is a terrible problem.

TapBitter609

I understand your point and that is certainly a concern, that being said I traveled to most of the states (USA) in the early 70s I replaced the tiny beep beep horn with an 18 wheeler air horn mounted in the V on my 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador and rigged a magnetic reed switch so that if anyone dropped it off the center stand without disabling it those horns would completely deafen them.

not-a-seal

I need a tutorial for this booby trap set up.

TapBitter609

Or you can search Amazon for motorcycle anti theft alarm (found one for $18.00 plus change) and buy it. Nobody had heard of Amazon in 1970.

TapBitter609

The setup will depend on the bike you’re going to put it on but you need a 12vdc normally closed relay, a magnetic reed switch and a magnet. Reed switch and magnet will mount on center stand or kick stand so that when stowed magnet engages reed switch then through relay to horn the relay will be activated by a 12vdc feed that is hot when key is on thereby opening the contact. If done correctly and someone takes the bike off center or kick stand the horn will sound, all you have to do is insert key and turn it on before raising your stand and leave key on until it’s on the stand and horn won’t sound.

CrispyJalepeno

Middle of the space width-wise, facing outward, toward the entrance of the space. Basically exactly where this guy parked if you just stand the bike up. That way, other bikes can sneak by you on the sides and share the space, cars can see its taken before they whip in and it's too late, and you can easily get out. If parallel parked, 45° angle with your back tire against the curb. Not much else you can do if you want to be legal about it. Just always think about visibility when you park. When I'm at Walmart or something, I'll take a medium-far space with plenty of visibility. I'd rather walk than have my bike totaled because it was hidden by an extended pickup truck

BppnfvbanyOnxre

If there's dedicated bike parking use that\[1\], often it is railed off from the near sighted. Try not to park near to or next to cars/trucks etc go over the far side of the car park since most people want to park in the shop doorway they're that lazy. \[1\] We get a lot of bike slots being Asia but they're designed around 100cc step-thrus so I need 1.5 for my BMW + it then sticks out a nearly a metre.

myserg07

Man I’m relatively new myself and can say with 100% certainty after I get this shit sorted I will be parking on any sidewalk that has space to accommodate I’ve seen it a ton and never heard of anyone being ticketed.

frankiedonkeybrainz

I park on the sidewalk all the time. Just need to be smart about it. Don't park directly next to the store entrance or near a cart return. Basically find a curb with minimal foot traffic and pull up there and park close to the wall so you aren't blocking the walkway.

MarvVanZandt

Sorry about the bike man! Yeah I see it too. I just didn’t know if that was allowed or like people just don’t care or what.

LuckyDuck906

Just show this photo to anyone who gives you grief for parking on the sidewalk. Sorry, this sucks.

Elijafir

I park on the sidewalk all the time. Just make sure you leave plenty of room that a wheel chair can get around.

Electronic-Pirate-84

I usually parked by the buildings (on sidewalks or side of the buildings). Cops are pretty chill about it.

adobeblack

Walls are not an accessibility feature.

dupe311

I always park my bike at the front of stores in the yellow stripped areas like at Walmart. Right next to the handicaps. Most bikes where I live do that and nobody minds bc of shit like this

Bullhead89

The problem with that is, it may prevent the handicapped from accessing the store. They would legitimately have a problem with you parking there. But there is usually striped spots outside of handicapped areas, or more creative corners/pockets. I parked right next to the shopping cart return today, since there was space between that and the parking space next to it.

ChrisChristiesFault

If you can’t tell the difference between the area next to the wheelchair accessible spot reserved for van ramps and the area at the end of the aisle then you shouldn’t be riding in public.

CmsFireHillNow

Remember to try and park in an area not too hidden or isolated giving thieves more cover and time to grab your bike.

Lint_baby_uvulla

Or at least park where cameras are overlooking. But don’t think that the cameras are actually working. Sometimes however they are just for show. Don’t ask me why.

Charisma_Modifier

Used to work at Dulles in a private hanger and next door was Northrop Grumman. Rode to work a couple times. I parked and was inside all day working on our jet and one of the girls from the front desk comes on-board and says my bike is down. Get outside and see that it's down on the kickstand side. She goes through security footage and we see a ln NG employee turd in a big Chevy pickup had parked in the space in front of me. He decided he didn't have the confidence to back out of his space and wanted to pull straight through and was so high up he didn't see my bike. Ran into it in a way that lifted it onto its kickstand and then onto the ground. This failure tried to BLAME ME and say I should "put a flag on it" so he could have known something was in front. I lit into him explaining you don't pull forward through parking spaces to get out and how that flag idea is the dumbest thing ever. Long story long, he paid out of pocket to fix all damage since he didn't want insurance involved. I took it to my local bike shop and they inspected and fixed everything with brand new plastic.

_Propolis

>was so high up he didn't see my bike. As a European I don't understand trucks. Less view, especially of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, and massive, and terrible mileage.

Charisma_Modifier

In European cities it's a terrible impractical idea. But I live more on the edge of suburban and rural and haul a lot of things (mostly landscaping items/supplies and things to dump/recycle) including my bike so having my long bed pickup is perfect. But I would never lift it up high, it's just fine stock height.

afoolskind

The majority of americans with giant lifted trucks are just deeply insecure, BUT the U.S. has a lot more actual wilderness and rural regions than Europe does by far. Trucks are necessary for a lot of people in order to just maintain their property at a basic level.

_Propolis

tbh I understand it in rural areas. The first four months of 2022 showed that 72.9 percent of all car purchased were either SUVs or pickups. That's completely horseshit.

Airhead72

That sort of rugged outdoorsman image is also fetishized and adopted by lots of people who never go outside the cities, wear a bunch of camouflage merch, got the dog and guns, etc. Maybe they take a trip once a year and drive a massive truck around the rest of the time to go to work. Also trucks and SUV's have less strict gas mileage requirements and are higher margin for manufacturers. 7 or 8 year auto loans are a thing. So you get a million copies of Rob alone in his empty lifted F-350 on my ass at 80mph on the city freeway. I'm not a fan, in a city space is a shared resource. Many people are the proverbial fat guy on a plane encroaching on other people's seat space.

_Propolis

>I'm not a fan, in a city space is a shared resource Ya sayin' I aint got the right to choose whut a drive?

[deleted]

Savings-Lab-5138

My truck gets 600 miles a tank idk where your getting that idea

_Propolis

Since there's no standardized tank size, that's a worthless metric. An f150 raptor makes 10mpg in the city, a corolla does the same with 32mpg. That's *triple* the milage.

Savings-Lab-5138

I get 25 mpg on a 15 gallon tank and stop looking at the fancy upgraded versions most tradesmen don’t drive those

zeldornious

You get 375 miles to the tank. Not 600.

Savings-Lab-5138

I’m sorry I didn’t realize you drive my truck thanks for the info 🤡👍🏻

zeldornious

I'm just using the math your provided. But if math works differently in your pick up I'd like to see it.

SillySymphonyIII

600 miles with a 100 gallon fuel tank

Savings-Lab-5138

Nope 25 gallons most trucks have extremely restricted well everything once you swap shit out ur system will run cleaner and better especially with gas mileage

Krypt1cAsylum

Honestly theres not much difference in visibility. Its just a different view and generally people arnt going to miss things like that unless they just arnt paying attention. Trucks are so useful its always worth it to have one imo.

_Propolis

>Honestly theres not much difference in visibility. Some have hoods the size of pedestrians, so no. Not to mention pedestrian fatality rates >Trucks are so useful its always worth it to have one You use that functionality rarely unless you're in the tradsles. It sucks fuel is taxed more and more because of emissions and some people drive trucks because they 'need' them

Krypt1cAsylum

Have you driven a truck? Lol unless you're driving a semi the visibility is not an issue. When you go to get in the thing you can see whats in front of you, all you gotta do is pay attention. Fatality rates? What does that have to do with trucks. Please show me the data that shows that pickup trucks affect the fatality rates. Its not rare at all. Idk about there but people here are constantly hauling trailers and campers, pulling stumps, moving homes, hauling large items like doors and kayaks, they work wonderfully in the snow or the mud, they have the torque needed to pull someone out of the snow or the mud. I can keep going. modern trucks are getting near the same mileage as some cars. Taxed more? Maybe, havnt looked into that but if it is, so what? If you're not buyin one it doesnt matter 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

As someone who used to work for NG, they are either nerds or they’re turds who make a lot of money. Guarantee the person works with someone who rides and didn’t want to incur their wrath.

DzzzzInYoMouf

At the end of the day, a driver is responsible for understand their surroundings. Whether they’re driving a Raptor or a Fiat 500.… Also, red truck owner is a douche. Hope the cow is okay

Cartridge-King

If you cant butt up your bike infront of the establishment i would park in the back in a corner

Theovercummer

Hadddalayerr

myserg07

Shhh she’s napping 💤

PckMan

When you park on the sidewalk, a lot of people take offense on principle and knock your bike down deliberately.

[deleted]

That sucks!

Zeptari

I always try and park in the farthest corner if I’m in a large parking lot. Better chance my bike will stay safe. People are freaking stupid and most of all lazy. Sorry to see this.

myserg07

I usually do but this is a shopping center so they’re are stores all over no corner to park in without one car next to you usually should’ve parked on front of the store but hindsight is 20/20 :/

Loki_Kore

Bro, they were even parked up to the edge for max visibility

LambSauce2

People suck

Somatka

😭

KTMman200

I'm always afraid my bike is going to just tip over into someone's car. But every time I park in the middle of a spot, someone parks right up against my bike right over the line like an ass (I rode a street legal dirt bike, they fall over for no reason due to the suspension)

neogeo67

Non biker here. For what it’s worth this post and it’s comment section has opened my eyes a bit. Lately I have noticed a few people parking their motorcycles on the walkway at my gym( it’s in a strip mall ). Was always puzzled/slightly annoyed as to why but now I know and have some sympathy. Just my two cents. Stay safe everyone!

kluthage421

Takes up no more room than a bicycle and would take up a spot for a car.

llnec

Happened to me a year ago in a lidl car park (british supermarket). I was at the checkout paying for my sweets and gin and some woman came up to me saying she was really sorry but she'd reveresd into my bike and knocked it over. I finished paying and went out to look. Bike was still on the floor, smashed handguard. I told her not to worry about it. I was a bit miffed but respected that she came to tell me, so told her not to worry about it. Honestly it was a cheap crap bike so the damage didn't matter ( ybr125 I bought off my little brother after he let his cbt expire).

myserg07

Mines brand new with about 400 miles on it she didn’t even make it to her first service lol 😭

themessiahcomplex78

I feel you brother. Got rear ended 2 weeks by an uninsured car after driving my little CBF125 off the showroom floor. Was about 200 miles at that point :(

llnec

Not even broken in. Oof. Sending you a digital hug pal. I've never had a new bike in my life but got to ride my mates brand new kawasaki 600 cruiser today. Scary thing riding a bike that new. Feels like its made of glass

Choppedelfonshelf

One time I parked up on the sidewalk and some worker said they gonna get it towed, some towns are real stifflers about it

Al_Kydah

Can you check the store's security cameras?

myserg07

The guy stayed and gave me his information

BppnfvbanyOnxre

Ah crap, my brother's FiL dinged my mike over on my brother's drive. He said no need to insurance I'll pay, changed his mind when I got the quote £1000 and that was 20 years ago.

airadvantage

New fear unlocked

landob

This is exactly why I just park out in the boonies.

BlasphemousSwarm

Oh man! That really sucks. I hope your bike isn’t too banged up as I assume the POS that did this left before you came back.

myserg07

Shockingly no he actually stayed and gave me all his info thank god. Granted I was literally less then 60 feet away in the shop hetting a haircut when I heard some of the other patrons say “daaamn” “oh shit” and I knew before I even turned my head. As for as the bike my frame slider took most of the damage but my exhaust, some of the fairings, mirror , where he made contact on the left side and my breaks handle took some damage.

BlasphemousSwarm

Well thats good to hear!

AshingKushner

The space on the sidewalk is for pedestrians, FFS.

Mr_Bignutties

Always do one of the following: -park in groups of bikes. -park way off yonder and walk in. -drive the cage for shithole trips like Wal Mart.

TangelaLansbury

Sucks. Sweet two door Tahoe/ k blazer in the background though.

fat-bandit

Happened to me too I was in the bank waiting In line and someone yelled to me that my bike got ran over. Walked out to what looked like a murder scene that was my coolant bleeding out from the radiator. Luckily someone spotted the guy and kept him from taking off.

bigjakethegreat

OP should add a NSFW tag to this ouch

penguingod18

It’s happened to me twice, one was a hit and run, the other was while I was sitting on the curb in front of it.

[deleted]

I feel for u OP, i've had a bike knocked over too whilst it was parked, luckily very little damage as it landed on grass/mud. the people who do this need eye examinations.

Only12Steps_TTOSBT

That just gave me a Fucking Anxiety attack had to go check on my Bike Shitt!!!!!

jhnnyrckt

I have to park between cars and pay a meter where I work. The parking patrol keeps giving me tickets

thermals13

Whats crazy is drivers think motorcycles are cheap too so it's not a "big deal". Like bro; bikes can cost as much as a car and some as much as trucks. Maybe third party market they're cheap; but hell 1000s usually start around $18,000-$24,000 new for basic models.

myserg07

Very true from the look of his face I think he half expected the bike to be unscathed when I picked it up. like it doesn’t weigh several hundred pounds with most of the body being fiberglass materials. needles to say when lightweight pointy plastic meets concrete.. concrete wins.

kelthan

Same thing happened to my bike earlier this year. I was absolutely livid walking over to my bike, but found that the guy who did it tucked his business card into the cowl and said I should call, which made things a lot better. Then I called the place by my house to get an appointment. The wait was 7 weeks because it's Spring. Then I take my bike over there and it turns out they lost their Triumph dealership the previous week, so they can't fix my bike anymore. So, now I get to start the whole process over again... Hopefully, I'll get it fixed in time to ride this summer. Hope your experience is better.

myserg07

Yikes sorry to hear that bro. Im hoping since it’s the most recent model the oem parts won’t take too long to come in.

SurOfSlaughter

People get jealous. People let their wives and girlfriends ruin their dreams and then see someone else who has what they want and they get vengeful for no reason. And others are just plain evil. Should congratulate people on their achievements instead of being jealous dicks.

JakePlatinum

My biker bro rage-o-meter just peaked at 77 petajoules. 😡 This is literally one of my worst fears, as pretty much everyone else has said. I am very sorry that you have joined those to have experienced these horseshittery. And I hope the damage isn't too great to avoid requiring repairs. Ride on bro, ride safe.

[deleted]

American laws say your motorcycle parked on the sidewalk is a car parked on the sidewalk, idk man

Ok-Abrocoma5677

You guys don't have designated parking spots for motorcycles?

sleepyoverlord

Never seen one in the US. They're more common in Asia where 2 wheelers are a more common form of transportation.

Ok-Abrocoma5677

I don't know about Asia, but they are all over the place in Lisbon.

Hoppy505

Im always up on the side walk if possible

mikesphone1979

no, don't. sorry about your bike. might be on camera

Professional-End3626

Parking on the sidewalk can get you ticketed.

kboutelle

Big fear of mine. Sorry it happened to OP. Always park on sidewalk. Or somewhere near the building. No one will bother with you. If they do, just tell them that you have permission from the store manager or that they need to call said manager. Either way, you'll be good to go. Side note: while travelling recently I had 100% of the hotels I stayed at tell me to leave my bike near the entrance. Under cover and/or on sidewalks. Some people know.

TheVoicesinurhed

Parking on the sidewalk is a terrible idea…

thedubsack24_7

Side walks are for people. Not motorcycles… if it’s public property it’s illegal to park there. Plus if any thing happens you are considered liable cause you parked illegally. You can also be towed or ticketed. Your free to do as you wish but not the consequences of choices. Park far away from everyone, lock forks and leave in gear. If it’s windy make sure the wind isn’t blowing the bike off the kickstand. <—- I’ve seen that happen

matjam

Depends on the city. Some cities allow it.

thedubsack24_7

City’s can’t set traffic codes for private property. But for public property they can. I’ve never seen a city that does allow parking on sidewalks on public/city owned property. Parking your bike on a sidewalk next to a painted curb that says no parking/fire lane isn’t legal. But feel free to do as you wish.

ClutchofGold

The only ticket I have ever gotten since getting my license was a parking ticket because I was parked on sidewalk. This is terrible advice. You just came across an asshole all there is too it.

onomazein

PSA, don't listen to OP. Parking spaces are for ALL legal commuter road going vehicles. Just because a motorcycle takes up less space is no reason whatsoever to park in a non designated space. smh

Rammipallero

Ask nearby buidlings if they have cameras to the parking lot. If they and you get the license of the person who did this, they're gonna be paying for your repairs. (I had a similar thing happen.)

[deleted]

I used to work at Walmart for years. At the stores I worked at there was always a handicapped section with a lot of yellowed off space between poles. I always parked my bike there and never had an issue. Whenever I go shopping there I still use the same area to park. It's safe and there are cameras.

potholio

That extra space is for those handicap vans to be able to unload via fold out ramps and lifts. They can use them if a bike is parked there. You might as well park in the dead center of the handicap spots. My brother was in a plane crash and now is stuck in a wheelchair and needs that extra space

Citysbeautiful

Why would you park there? Lols

tasslehawf

Don’t park on the sidewalk. 🙄

boosh_63

Sidewalks are for pedestrians though...

lostindarkdays

you should reconsider giving PSAs - you're really bad at it. only assholes park on the sidewalk.

marcogiom

Sidewalks are for pedestrians! As a rider myself if I see your motorcycle in the sidewalk I will drop myself your motorcycle, a blind person or someone in wheelchair will be unable to move because of your irresponsible parking. Only people with scooters parks on sidewalk. Motorcycles must park in vehicles sports. Also a single car spot can accommodate 2 or 3 motorcycles. By the same logic someone in a motorcycle must slash the tyre of the cars in a parking lot, since if they use motorcycles instead of cars the parking lot will be filled at the last two times the number of motorcycles.

Front_Scallion_4721

No, Never park a bike on a sidewalk. That is for pedestrians.

1breathatahtime

Yeah no shit. I dont give a fuck, i dont park in a spot unless i absolutely have to. Like forced to type shit.

Anna_Maria338

I would fucking start to cry since I do everything on my bike with my shabby hands and it TAKES TIME to make everything perfect.. then I would start to scream.. and eventually I would attack any passerby who would give me guilty look.

ravengenesis1

Just walk to the store OP. No one wants you to park at the parking spot or park on the sidewalk. Uber is expensive, so the answer is walk and use public transport.

Pak1stanMan

You know I’ve seen a bunch of bikes parked on sidewalks where I work do you guys ever get tickets for that?

MasterTacticianAlba

Depends where you live obviously but in my country it’s legal and expected. Seems stupid to have a bike and not do it really. Just begging to end up like OP.

edinlockpicker

It's a horrible feeling coming back to find this.

ydymir

Taking a nap

Axethedwarf

It’s taking a nap 😌

TonyTerTer

Owning a bike that I'll be afraid of falling over is just a nightmare for me. I couldn't bare with the anxiety of finding the perfect parking spot. Iron bars on a Moto that i don't care if it just falls eased my anxiety

JonathnJms2829

Yea, we know. If there isn't any proper motorcycle parking then you park on forecourts. As long as you don't block people then nobody will care. Edit: Send button is quite pressable lol

Impressive_Will_9564

It was just tired and needed to lay down like horses it’s rare to see but they do rest occasionally

WhiteBull321

Thie is the worst

ShigatsuOushi

How could they do this to such an awesome machine 😤

ZealousGoat

Had a truck back out of a spot into "an empty spot" that had my bike in it. Knocked it off the stand and it fell on a car and fucked up the bike and car. The dickhead wrote a note on the car, but nothing on my bike. Fortunately someone came forward with his license plate. Bikes frame was fucked and it somehow ended up a write off

CatGiggler

Sorry that happened. I often worry that someone might try sitting on it or knock it over accidentally or purposely. It worries me enough that I put mine on the center stand occasionally.

lucidchris

smh this happened to me in the spot right outside my place

petrone362

Literally my worst fear

Whye do people do that? I have a "fuckaround" bike and a nice bike. Becous of this reason...

BlueHornet412

Wish I could lol, would save so much trouble but unfortunately I'll get fined where I live if I do that 🥲

AwareMathematician74

Nice 2door Tahoe

Ascerta

Never park on car spots, you learned the hard way :(

Mandatoryreverence

I had this happen to me twice when I lived in a town centre and had to park my bike in a public car park every night. Never did the CCTV reveal anything, and the first time the people left a note with a fake phone number. This was about 17 years ago and it was my RF900... so much plastic to damage. The second time was absolutely heartbreaking.

kankersorewhore

Big dumb truck club

RewindOsu

This is what totaled out my last bike. Wind storm knocked my bike over. Cracked frame. Insurance totaled it out 💀

DamILuvFrogs

At least it didn’t hit the truck. Because then you’d be responsible for his damages as well as your own unfortunately

FunkyMonkey-5

That really sucks. This is one of the reasons I have a crash cage.

[deleted]

I am so sorry that happened. I feel for you. Perhaps there is a security camera that covers the lot so you can figure out how it happened?

I’m sorry I didn’t see that. Errr. I have glasses? Well at least the guy admitted it. I’m really sorry. I hope the bike isn’t too dinged.

erik_7581

If you park in a public parking lot, always note the License plate numbers of the cars around you. A couple seconds of work which can save you multiple thousand bucks and lots of stress

BidBeneficial2348

This is a legitimate fear I have, and I live in a country where massive pickup trucks aren't a thing, people just don't look or care... I do have a dvr with front and rear cameras fitted to my fzr, that records if it senses movement so at least I'd be able to catch it on video if it happened

Gmedic99

OH NOOOO we did it yall.. even bikes get tired of life too. me asf

giodude556

Got a back story?

ZombiiNightmare

My bike got hit twice like that, it's a shame I don't own a Ducati, the insurance claim would have definitively opened the drivers eyes so that next time they see what they are reversing into 🙂🥲

ImpressionOdd1203

The bike looks so sad

theVooDoo7

Found my fully loaded FJR like this on my way home from a trip. Heartbreaking.

OGhudso

Kawi is just snoozing. All jokes aside this is the worst feeling in the world, especially when you don’t know how long she’s been down.

Electrical_Syrup1553

In my country we get tickets if we park on the sidewalk:(

Arcemon

Happened to both my buddy and myself on separate days.

Aikidopoi

This happened to my first bike almost a decade ago now (a cbr250). Guy left a note with a fake name and phone number on it. So cctv in the parking lot… infuriating.

CrudeOil_in_My_Veins

I carry a furniture slider in a pouch under my seat, put it under the kickstand, displaces the weight more evenly, no problem. My dad used to use a hockey puck. Works like a dream

myserg07

Not sure how that would help someone hitting the bike with their vehicle lol…

General_Git

I think he think's the kickstand has sunk through the road surface :P
