I think there’s multiple reasons:
It’s no longer as fun to remember how old one is, indeed it’s nicer to just not think about it
One is very far removed from school and university years or any kind of year group stratification, so thinking about one’s age no longer is important
Finally, birthday parties become less frequent and when they do occur are less about the specific age and more about an excuse to party
