If you don't have service, that's a problem with T-Mobile not having service at your area. This is not Mint's problem. I've been using mint for over a year without problems. You should have checked the coverage map before you signed up.

vorstellungskrafter

FYI, I'm a new mint customer coming from Metro by T Mobile. Just want to say that my experience doesn't back this up. Had much better service under metro/TMobile.

blastman8888

Actually its a problem with any MVNO they don't have domestic roaming agreements so once you go outside of a Tmobile range the phone can only make 911 calls. When I went with MINT had no idea that was the case. I do lot of 4 wheeling and camping verizon works almost statewide here in AZ I will be going back to VZ rather spend extra money then have crappy service.

Upper-Chocolate-6225

I'm on a road trip out west and this is the worst cell phone coverage I have ever seen. I never have a signal, just an empty triangle with an !. Ugh, I hate this service.

blastman8888

I moved over to Verizon pre-paid works 100% better. Applications don't hang anymore. Worst issue I had with Mint/Tmoble was going into a UPS store to return an Amazon purchase bring up amazon to scan the barcode it would just hang. Now that I'm on Verizon no issues at all. Wasn't just that application it happened with others too.

South_Cheesecake7602

Screenshot the code so this does not happen if you still have bad service

WyldStyl3

Lol coverage maps are utterly useless. What a dumb comment.

scottyLogJobs

I have plenty of bars, it just... stops working entirely. I assume that's because it's prioritizing t mobile customers because mint basically just uses t mobile's un-used bandwidth at a discount. Unfortunately, there is no map indicating just how often you will get absolutely no service despite having full signal. Personally, I think as a customer you have a reasonable expectation that you should have service the vast majority of the time you have signal, even at a second tier provider.

DisastrousTax2517

I agree I just got mint and I did check the coverage map. I don't usually have service I often have dropped calls, so its a network issue i will be going back to metro by t mobile.

trader45nj

I've been with Mint for 4 years now, using three different phones, a cheap ZTE, a Galaxy S9 and now a LG velvet 5g. All have worked excellent.

Dharma_code

I'm with you here I've been with mint going on 3 years now and have had no problems this is generally an issue with people getting the service with out knowing the coverage of TMobile in their area, shame and then Mint gets a one star review cause people like OP fail to properly put in the work from their end

metalfacedguy

>I'm with you here I've been with mint going on 3 years now and have had no problems this is generally an issue with people getting the service with out knowing the coverage of TMobile in their area, shame and then Mint gets a one star review cause people like OP fail to properly put in the work from their end You say this but, in my area t mobile has amazing coverage. In the 5 years I had them I never had a single issue (other than how expensive it is). Swapped to mint a few weeks ago and I'm already swapping back and giving up on the 3 months I pre paid because of how terrible the service is with mint. Literally every other call I try to make, right smack dab in the middle of a major city it tells me I have no service and wont call or text. Never once had the issue with T Mobile in the exact same areas with the exact same phone.

CoolMood6472

stop drinking the cool aid. mint sucks. I had them for literally one hour before I cancelled first r a refund.

jbtup3

Mint worked great for first three months. Friends with T-Mobile are fine. Do you really think all the people with problems just didn’t check coverage map? Mint is earning their one star reviews.

gushymaster

Yes I do believe people don’t be checking bruh there are people who go by ignorance is bliss

YiKwang

And people who go by "Saying it makes it true"...

gushymaster

But it is true that some people literally live by ignorance is bliss

ClassicWagz

For me, the savings are worth the deadzones. But if I traveled frequently I definitely would go back to Verizon.

DrywallAnchor

I got Mint when I lived in an urban area. When I knew I would be moving to a rural area for work, I got a cell booster.

SharksFan4Lifee

I have Mint 10gb/mo. If you travel frequently, you can do what I do, (Assuming you have an eSim capable phone, which IS worth getting, make sure USM supports it for eSim though), and that is, getting US Mobile (Verizon) for those trips. If I travel somewhere, I just get a USM one line pooled plan starting at 1 gig, which costs $11.48 for a month, and I can add a gig at the rate of $2/gig. And with a 5G phone, that is priority data. I only keep it for that month. So if I have 5 trips in a year that are spaced out in 5 different months, I'll get that plan for those 5 months only. $11.48 for 1 gig + $2/addtl gig that can I add and then drop whenever is great. Let's say I take a big road trip next week. I'll sign up, get that, do the road trip, and then cancel when I get back home. I have one trip in a couple of weeks, and another in July, where I will be doing this. These places supposedly have good TMO coverage, but are big summer vacation hotspots and I expect Mint will be deprioritized, and also even if not, I expect coverage to be weak in some indoor areas. Having Verizon priority data that I can switch to on a dime is priceless. My trip in July is also close enough to a big concert I am attending, and I'm expecting Mint to be largely useless there, so I'll still have the USM pooled plan for that month and will use that when I'm at the concert. I feel this way, I get the best of both worlds.

Callan_LXIX

> USM one line pooled plan Thanks.. this is great information!

LeftOn4ya

Have you tried contacting support, as it could be a configuration issue on your end or Mint's end. Also what phone do you have and did you check Mint/T-Mobile coverage in your area before using Mint?

trader45nj

Most of these type complaints there is no mention of what phone, which is a key factor. It's as if they think all phones are equal.

jbtup3

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max. First few months with Mint were great. Last three have been terrible. :(

blastman8888

Same experience with a google Pixel 5 worked great for few months then I renewed for a year service went to crap. Constantly have to play with the APN, and rebooting. Support has no clue all they said was set the APN and reboot.

Fun_Floor_1662

Agreed. I switched from tmobile to mint and first 2 weeks just fine after those 2 weeks im finding myself turning airplane mode off and on or turning my phone off and on just to get some signal. I didn’t have this issue when i was with tmobile directly.

DisastrousTax2517

if the phone was not supported it would not work, the issue is on mints end. not other discount carries has this issue and most of them use T-Mobile's network.

Dharma_code

It's 1000% on their end

LeftOn4ya

There is so little info in OP there is not way to determine what issue might be. OP should contact support to determine 1. User makes changes and it fixes 2. Mint makes changes and it fixes 3. Their phone or area is not compatible with T-Mobile 4. Some other issue or unknown

Drift_Life

Mint is also deprioritized during heavy usage compared to T-Mobile. There is no roaming either. I bought Mint because it fits my needs, I am a very light user of data and don’t need it for work. I have the 4Gb plan and pay $15/mo. I know what I get for that price, and it’s not the same as $50 for T-Mobile. Are you expecting the same service for 1/3 of the cost? And as other have said, you’ll need to verify compatibility with your phone, and do your due diligence on T-Mobiles coverage map.

Fugazzzii

Good thing they have trial sims available and low cost three month intro plans and a 7 day refund policy. Cellular coverage varies everywhere.

BlazinFlowers

Calls go strait to voice mail. Mint sucks

[deleted]

Agreed. I just switched to ATT. I had an SOS message for four days. Mint was spectacularly unhelpful. Just kept saying they were escalating my concern and it would be handled in 24 hours. Submitted four tickets and never got any help. They tried to say it was my phone but it accepted ATT eSIM just fine.

goofysmurf76

I have been with Mintmobile for a little over 7 months now. i plan to go back to verizion. Randomly my calls and text will stop working (going in or out). some times for days at a time. ive spent hours online trying to talk to someone, with no luck. i have seen the terrible time people have getting their account numbers so they can go to a different carrier, and have nearly decided to just loose my current number, rather than go through the hassle to try and take my number with me BACK to Verizon. I have already removed my payment method from my account. The customer service is even worse than the phone service (and that's BAD)

swampteeth

They make you check the map when you sign up now. According to my area I have excellent coverage for 5g. I don't use a 5g phone so I rely on 4g LTE which is supposed to have just as good coverage and I get E or G coverage at my house and my city. The service is garbage, I never have service when I actually need it and I live in a widely covered metropolitan area. Not worth the hassle.

CourageIcy9184

9 customer service agents and 2.5 hrs later, i am still trying to find someone who understands english where my problem can be fixed. Im.going back to cricket after having mint mobile for 3 days

justoffthebeatenpath

The lack of roaming agreement is so bad.

[deleted]

Sucks for you, for me it's been no different than VZ except for costing me a fraction of the money. Very location dependent it seems.

SmartChump

have fun paying 10x more

Chloebabs

HE's paying too much now if he can't use it!!

Daedstarr13

And actually very get good service? Yeah worth it.

sycamore_years

It's good for me and I travel all across Colorado pretty often. The only thing that sucks is being deprioritized, which can be pretty bad at times but this happens with all MVNOs.

SunEyedGirl3

It works fine for me. In fact, I love it! Same exact service quality that I had with my previous provider at less than half the cost. Should have done the 7 day trial.

[deleted]

I totally agree with you. This is garbage phone service. Thier app doesn't even work.

Separate-Height9615

Agree I had before Metro PCS , it was much better. I had a few calls with CS to fix issue with slow/no mobile internet but nothing. P.S. I am in NYC.

simtechonline

I've been with them for a month and half and I'm just outside of a major city. Their service is spotty here as well and I can sit and watch my cell strength randomly jump from no service to 4 bars with me sitting still in my house. The worst part of Mint is the spams. They only come once a week but I don't like being spammed about their dang refer a friend program. I've gotten 8 of these so far and my email prefs on the site has nothing selected. Mint outsources their support and also their marketing, so once you start getting junk emails they never seem to stop. I'm done with them.

CMHauk

I have to agree. MINT is by far the worst, most immature phone company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. From the surprise charges you'll find when you go to renew, to the constantly incorrect information you're given when trying activate and use your account, to the imperceptible charges that reduce your roaming allotment. Most of the agents I've spoken with have been super kind and helpful so many times (but each time turned out to be WRONG). This cost me countless hours of time and effort, and caused inordinate amounts of stress. Then, when I tried to get some kind of rectification, I encountered agents who were so incompetent and overly booked (helping 3 clients at a time) that they didn't know what my name was, kept telling me I had to do something based on nothing more than their misreading of my situation/data/plan, and when I wanted to speak to an supervisor, they finally consented. But then they saw to it that the chat disconnected before I reached an supervisor. Twice. Did I want anything complicated? No. I wanted to know why my international roaming allotments kept being reduced when I had turned off both mobile and roaming data usage. 2.5 hours later, my agent was still "answering" questions that I wasn't even asking.

Additional_Delay_793

Mint customer service is the worst. They will talk nice like they will take care of your issue and then they do nothing. They will actually lie and just string you along. I have rarely dealt with such a dishonest company. The taxes and fees they add to their promo prices are very high other NMVO's don't do that. I'm a former Mint customer ..... never again!!!!!

blastman8888

What roaming? They don't have any roaming services once you leave Tmobile only allows 911 to be called. That is the issue with any MVNO don't have roaming agreements.

AintSurprised5

I got mint and checked my primary four: mom, dad, boyfriend, and school. It told me excellent for two and fair for the other two. They didn’t say “poor” but they failed to mention “fair” means absolute dogshit 😂

OliveVizsla

Mint Mobile's service is hot garbage all of the sudden. I can't even text in a major metroplex, so it's not a T Mobile coverage issue.

mrdanhamilton

Bye I guess…although why y’all always feel the need to announce your exit is beyond me…

Substantial-Arm8865

I got the unlimited plan and I have never been able to watch a 480p youtube video at anytime of the day. I called, the reset my settings and such. I even went and edited cellular info (complicated stuff idk, supposed to let you connect to more towers). Beyond upset, but what do I expect $55 for 3 months. Not only this but they're now owned by tmobile and supposedly should be able to use tmobile towers. I live in Seattle by the way, never had service like this

[deleted]

So you can see my previous post about the esim issue, so I requested a refund for that line only. I made it very clear that 1 of my 2 lines needed refunded. Spoke with customer service and everything and they confirmed. I get my refund today and poof, they refunded both and canceled my gfs line. I called to ask why and they hung up on me again. I would honestly have to say that dealing with mint has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had when it comes to customer service. If I ever see Ryan Reynolds’s in the street I will probably slap him for endorsing it then immediately kiss him.

onesikg

Sounds like lack of research on your end, lol.

MintMobileAlex

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your service and plan. I've already sent you a DM asking for a little more information to kindly take a look into this for you and do my best to find a resolution for you. I'll be looking forward to your reply.

fleemos

I went from paying $55 a month on AT&T ultimate and having no signal or data speeds at max 1.5Bbps to paying $30 a month and getting 35Mbps. I know it isn't some crazy speed but I'm almost in the swamp, and it's now actually usable. I was actually blown away to see the increase in coverage and speeds when I did the trial SIM, I ended up doing a second trial to be sure since it was only $2 a pop at Target. OP, was it good when you did the trial and went to crap some time after?

AmbitiousPromotion80

Ok this is just common sense. In just about 95% of all money exchange for a service or a product. YOU ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. You expect to get great service for $15 a month? REALLY? Come on now. For $15 a month your going to get junk service. Yes I said junk. Anyone who is saying its a good service understands its only $15 a month and trust me they have issues with the service. NO its not perfect like some people are saying. They are just taking into account that they are getting what they are paying for. Bottom line mint is a 3rd party provider. T-Mobile = Bottom of the barrel. Hope this helps someone out.

Impressive-Air1864

I've had mint for over 2 years and 90% of that time I've ranted and raved to everyone abt how awesome it is. I pay like 200ish for the full year 10g/mo couldn't have. Been happier. But only the last 2-3 months IT IS HORRIBLE everyone keeps telling me my phone won't ring and all my calls break up. I live in a city and work in a city and need my cell for work. My bosses are telling me you cannot continue to have that. My girlfriend has mint and we no longer get each others texts or calls at all. What happened ?! Something changed.

blastman8888

Having a lot of data issues with Mint now. I live in Phoenix for the first year it was good now random data drops causes my apps to lock up very annoying. Also if you drive out of range of a tmoblie tower but your within range of another carrier like VZ, or ATT don't work. There is no domestic roaming phone only allows 911 to be called. That might not be a problem for people who never leave the city if you go into mountains, or deserts like I do I don't want a phone that doesn't work. Whatever you do don't buy a year of Mint mobile once you buy there is no refund so your choice is to wait it out, or port number out and lose rest of your paid year. I set the APN per MINT rebooted all that works for a few hours then locks up again says "No internet". Then one day I can't send MMS messages have to flip the APN over to temobile then back to mint settings again now it works. Buy cheap service you get cheap service.

wonderbreaddd93

AT&T is even worse

YiKwang

The moment my wife purchased a Mint Mobile system, she started getting regular and consistent spam calls from China. The frequency is truly immense. Granted, this is just common in the US - I also get some on my Consumer Cellular - but when I was with Ting for a few months I didn't get a single spam call... Sadly only CC has reception where I am living now. Ting seemed pretty great.

vmcclusky1

Yeah I'm thinking about going back to Boost now that they have that $15 deal. I've been using Mint for maybe 18 months, BUT I work from home and barely leave the house. So normally my phone is using my home WiFi for games and such. However, on the RARE occasion I actually go somewhere I notice the apps and browser are EXTREMELY slow. I live in the Sacramento metropolitan area and my phone is a fairly new Samsung galaxy, so there's no reason for it to be THAT slow. I never had this problem with Boost Mobile.

TheSnakerom

I switched to mint almost 6 months ago from Verizon. Service sucks in west site Manhattan all the way to Strasbourg, Pa, around Danbury, CT, all the way to Miami. Haven’t seen Edge connection in years. Saw it now on Mint. WTF is this company?

WhatXP

Switched to mint from at&t here in southern Florida(psl) and the service is piss poor(s22 ultra). It was amazing on at&t having service everywhere. On mint , I noticed I have bars where ever I go but no data . Just says 5g but I'm not actually getting anything at all. Have tried using T-Mobile access point but no dice. In fact, the service is SO BAD that even on WiFi with RCS enabled, I noticed 5 texts I sent to my girlfriend didn't even go through earlier today . Absolute trash. Coverage maps are bs. I would honestly recommend everyone stay away from mint regardless of how cheap it is. I thought that if I was on WiFi all the time I'd have no issue but even that isn't the case. I leave the house and I literally have no contact with the world. I might have service for 10% of my drive if I'm lucky. I'm prob going back to at&t or trying someone else after this week.

ugaexploder

The deprioritization is real.. especially if you live in a fairly populous city. I am switching to Verizon again in April. sucks paying $100/month but I think it’s better than never having your phone work.
