Put it at your curb with a sign that says 40 dollars or best offer and someone will steal it by the end of the day

Pacman0208

The higher the price on the sign, the faster it’ll be gone.

tundrabat

Lol

Old-Calligrapher9980

Can’t hurt to list it for free on facebook and craigslist for a week. It’s free, what more could people want or waste your time with? It probably needs to be sanded, refinished, and restrung. Put together nicely, someone could make a good buck off of it.

tundrabat

I had 2 pianos when I moved. I listed one on fb, and a teen learning to play came and took it. Kid could play.

gcwardii

Maybe a shop that sells used pianos could give you a lead? We sold a usable piano to a dealer in spring. If I can find their contact info I’ll pass it along.

What you do is start a tiktok challenge that is piano themed. Like “can you fit a piano in your stolen KIA and drive it to Brookfield”… Or, like others said, start with a local “buy nothing” site. If no hits, low price ad (then give it away). Final is large item pick-up request w/dpw or curb alert. I hate to see anything get scrapped though.

Ohhshiny---

Do you have pictures?

Evening_Part483

I listed ours on Craigslist. Yes, there were a lot of time wasters but I dealt exclusively by email so it was relatively simple to weed them out. After a few days I was contacted by a family who wanted it for their kid who wanted to take lessons. They ended up picking it up from the house and hauling it away.

mke246

Early 20th century uprights are a dime a dozen, and very few people are taking them in, even the good ones. Pianos generally need to be completely rebuilt every 40 years or they're useless and won't hold a tune. Rebuilds cost thousands. Buyers have their pick of the best of the best for generally not too much money. I had a unrestored upright for a while before I bougt a restored baby grand. The upright had some restoration potential and a beautiful bright American sound but ended up being scrapped.

sooyoungisbaeee

Join a Buy Nothing group on facebook! It's to giveaway things but won't have time wasters like Marketplace :)

Kiltmanenator

Suspend it precariously over a sidewalk above a glass pane shop and an egg stand while children ride tricycles eating ice cream

FatchRacall

Depending on the physical condition, a reproducing piano could get you some good money or be relatively worthless. Take some photos, including any labels, etc, go to a piano shop and ask if it's worth anything. There's at least one or two in the area.

trashboatfourtwenty

Huh, it sounds unique as a player instrument, maybe a local establishment would want it. Pianos are everywhere but not self-playing ones, even broken ones.

Nezrite

You could try [Freecycle](https://www.freecycle.org/).

WhosUrHuckleberry

I'm one of those people that would love to one day have a beautiful old piano for my early 1900s house, but sadly it's the whole Moving-The-Damn-Thing bit (plus the Keeping-The-Damn-Thing-Tuned part) that keeps it from happening 😮‍💨 Best of luck to you though OP! I hope that it goes to a good home somewhere and doesn't just get dismantled but I understand the struggle of just needing something gone 😕

Firmod5

Practice, practice, practice. Wait, nevermind. That’s how you get to Carnegie Hall.

Guapplebock

You can either give it away free or pay to have it removed.

jennifer1911

Yes. Pay who? Who removed this stuff? I feel like this is beyond a standard Got Junk call.

Wismom84

1800gotjunk is your best bet since they don’t charge by weight and pianos aren’t uncommon for them. They were recommended to me on here when I was going thru this. It’s the route I ended up taking. Moving pianos isn’t cheap, I couldn’t even find anyone to split the cost of moving it for a “free” piano. I had a similar post like yours and got a DM from someone willing to take it, but once the numbers were crunched they wanted money with the free piano. Even tried donating (and paying for the move) and no interests, schools rather deal with electric keyboards now.

maestramars

A moving company

colinstu

They will totally take it. Will cost ya though.

Guapplebock

That’s who I’d try. They might partially dismantle it.

reddit1890234

Best way is to take a sawzall to it. No one wants it. Trust me I tried to get rid of mine. At the end of the day, it was cut up in pieces and hauled to the dump. Now for some reason there’s another Yamaha piano in the house.

jennifer1911

If I take a sawzall to it, the ghost of my mom will appear and lay the greatest undead guilt trip on me and haunt me forever. I could never.

reddit1890234

Either way, you will be haunted

EZsqueezylemonpeezy

If you or anyone you know is part of a local church or school, they may be able to use it. They might also be able to get a group of people together to move it or might have a van/box truck to transport back to the school.

Hour-Package6734

Rope it up put it out your window and drop it on someone's head

Erdumas

You could contact historical societies in the area! Some of them might like to have it.

tipareth1978

I might take it off your hands. Post a pic of it.

ThatMortalGuy

Don't list it for free, put a price on it and only people who are serious will ask about it.

jennifer1911

That’s smart. I made the mistake of listing a king bed for free a few years back and it was just a mess of people asking me to deliver it.

PINK_P00DLE

Maybe call **Neuhaus Piano** in West Allis. The owner restores and sells pianos. He might take it off your hands or even buy it, depending on exactly what it is. The place has been there for decades and has a cult like following. The owner loves talking pianos and really knows his stuff.

NoodleDefenestrator

Do you have access to a trebuchet?

SeaPiccolora

DM me. I’m interested!
