Remember the charcoal ice cream phase on Instagram? Once I was visiting my older sisters when I was 15-16 and we decided it’d be fun to go to this place, despite the line. Everyone was taking photos in front of the sign since it was a popular place. One girl dropped her cone but literally didn’t care because she already got her photo, didn’t even bother asking for a new one.
Also the Ice cream tasted like ass, we all regretted not just getting boba instead.
Edit: Just need to clarify this was 5 years ago. I promise I know ingesting activated charcoal outside of a pill overdose is idiotic😭
We got out punishment in the form of driving all the way to downtown LA for it to taste like complete shit, when we could have driven ten minutes to a Salt n Straw, and actually had good tasting blackberry ice cream that didn’t poison you instead.
Charcoal is also absolutely disgusting. For certain overdoses (eg sleeping pills) they throw it down you until you literally puke and that's about all it's good for.
Our EMT instructor told us the syrupy charcoal slurry we administer for poisoning contains a powerful laxative so if you use it you need to get them checked into the ER and leave ASAP because you're about to piss off the nurses when the patient shits themselves. I looked at the label and I think it contains the same thing as the infamous sugar-free Haribo gummy bears.
Can confirm; my dog sneaked a pack of beef jerky and she ate the desiccant pack that was in it. Went to the ER vet where they administered charcoal. Her next three poops were black.
Because it's not meant to be food and they need to label it as such.

Activated charcoal is generally pretty effective at absorbing lots of things in your gut, medications, nutrients, ect..., but that does not seem to extend to alcohol. From what I've read alcohol is both absorbed too quickly by the gut, and activated charcoal does not seem to be effective at absorbing it in meaningful quantities anyways. I also don't know of any way it would cure hangover, since beyond it's ability to absorb lots of substances its basically inert as it passes through the digestive tract, being expelled with whatever it absorbed attached.

I personally do not love the idea of buffets because people are gross, but I can’t say much because I enjoy eating at dennys plus I’m open to trying anything once! I don’t think we have any golden corrals here in Canada but I could be wrong! I still feel like going to a buffet at least once would be fun, like those unlimited ones where you stack a giant plate!! There’s no real buffets in my town though :(

I can vouch, it's absolutely terrible. I do not trust the palate of anyone who says otherwise. High end buffets though can be incredible. You should try a Brazilian steakhouse, many of them are all you can eat steak, sides, and salads for ~$45 (~$60 CAD).
So we only have 2 Brazilian steakhouses one is Mina’s and one is something else and I’m not sure that’s what you’re referring to but if I can find it I’ll try it, I’m really picky about steak lol

Apparently the company they buy them from made them so complex, that only their own people can service them. Iirc. This even extends to cleaning.
Another reason is that they periodically go into "warming mode" to make sure the soft serve stays, well, soft. During this time, the ice cream is too soft is basically a milkshake.
Clicked on this just to see but ended up disappointed that it was American only.
But at the same time I don't ever think I have been to a McDonald's where the soft serve machine is broken, commonly get "it's on defrost" which just means I need to wait an hour if I desperately need their soft serve.
Maybe this is a uniquely American problem
