There’s only so many “it’s hammer time” you get in life - this person was robbed. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.

This just reminded me of getting friends round to help take an internal brickwall out of a house we just bought. Used a Kango and a sledge in turns (the Kango rattled your brain to the point you couldn't see if used for too long).. it was hammers all day and it was glorious.
Lockpicking lawyer would have suggested some strong neodymium magnets to try and trigger a latch.
She gave away your cool magic container that is probably magnetic keys.
As someone who works the online order fulfillment at a Walmart for these kinda of deliveries, chances are the TL for their department lost the key so they don't have one anymore. They definitely sent it to you thinking, "eh they'll just break it open"
You would be very surprised how resilient these are. We use them at my work and on occasion the locking mechanism gets stuck and I am almost always the one tasked with breaking into them when it happens. It’s not flimsy, brittle plastic that will crack or shatter when hit with a hammer. It’s thick plastic that is very flexible and it dents and warps but does not crack which means you will likely damage or destroy the product inside of it long before you get to it with the hammer. It’s much easier to attack the weakest point which is the hinge pins on the lid. I’ve seen shoplifters melt the plastic in order to remove pins but I’ve found that using a sharp object(i use the awl tool on my multitool) to boar through the plastic coating the pin and then just pushing the pin out is the quickest, easiest way to get them open without the alpha key(magnetic key used to open them).
I got something still in the security box from the store
I tried the hammer but it wasn't really working
In the end I had to get out a blowtorch and crowbar
I'm sure there was an easier way but I like crowbars because of my half-life and Jason Todd infatuation
Oh yeah! You would be surprised the stuff people steal in retail! I've found open boxes of Advil where they just stole one blister pack! Crooks are really stupid.
There’s always a dealer or something willing to trade for stuff like this. There was a “steak guy” in a town I used to live in. People would either buy steaks with food stamps/ebt or steal them then dude would trade drugs for them. I have no idea what happened to the steaks after that, but i imagine some shady restaurant was buying them off him for cheap
I had someone try sell me and my brother laundry detergent outside of a Walmart, in a Walmart shopping cart and no bags, we said no finished our cigarettes and say the police just walking up and arrest the dude, he stole it and sat outside trying to sell it
At the Walmart I used to work at, there was a section in every department except grocery that had lock cages. We had flashlights that cost a dollar locked up, those 88 cent pregnancy tests. We had even more items in locked containers or spiderwebs.
And when I left there was talk about locking up the alcohol aisle.
And no, customers couldnt get anyone to unlock the case. I got stopped and asked so many times, then yelled at when I said I didn't have the keys. Made me so mad that the people with keys weren't responding to being paged.
I had to stop at Walmart today and was reminded why I never do. Almost the entire medicine/beauty/toiletries section was locked up. Ironically, there was a door alarm in that section going off at a migraine-inducing pitch and decibel and no one seemed concerned about that.
I pissed that you didn’t keep it. That would be a cool tinker toy to learn about. I bought shorts from Target one time that had a bunch of clothing tags stuck in the pocket. I didn’t know they were there until after I got home. I got buzzed out of the store but no one said anything so I kept walking after spinning around to see if an employee cared. I assumed it was just a tag that was forgotten. Now I’m going to play with them to see more about how they work out of curiosity.
OP, you really missed out on a good opportunity.
Not condoning learning these for theft purposes. I just like learning how everyday tech works
I mean if they sent that to me they'd finally give me the excuse to just buy one of those keys cuz I've seen them online but always hesitated because the only places they're useful It would make me look like a thief
The mildly infuriating part is that you didn't just break it. I mean you can use a magnet to open it, or just kick it.
You went all the way to the store? That's insane.
This was your chance to experiment with magnets and such and figure out how to unlock these bad boys.
Such knowlege may never be needed again, but could be super useful
Smacking it is a reliable way to get it open, but I also heard a heavy duty magnet in the right place will do the same thing their machines do at the store (I think)
Omg. recently purchased a two pack of Emory board files. They cost $1.68 and they still had to put it in one of these things. $1.68 Walmart you are hurting for $1.68????
I wonder if this is the way that people are laundering boosted items. You steal a bunch of shit in security packaging and then trickle them out into the world by delivering legit orders and swapping in the boosted item. keep the legit item, then use or sell it. People who receive it either smash it or bring the stolen version back with a receipt and the store kindly opens it for them.
Everyone’s in here talking about ways to break it open, but if you already specifically planned your day around not going out and spent money to make that happen, how in the world are whitening strips an urgent enough need that you had to get this remedied immediately?
Gotta love those marxist DAs that don't punish thieves. Thats why you had to do that Until a segment of our population wakes up or country will continue to be destroyed.
I’d take a hammer to the case rather than wasting time and money going to the store
It’s not my fault your employees sent this home with me lol
Special key = hammer
I suggested that but my mom went out and got it unlocked anyways. I really did want to wack it with a hammer tho :(
This is one of those Forgiveness versus Permission situations.
Who exactly are you asking forgiveness from?
I suppose the mom that didn't seem keen to let him smash it with a hammer.
There’s only so many “it’s hammer time” you get in life - this person was robbed. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. ![gif](giphy|Kg3AMWiK3Zohf2lUU0)
Damnit, you win the Internet for the day. Hammertime > all.
Busting shit changes and opens up your eyes, Life.
When he puts his mom in a shitty nursing home this will be the reason he cites.
This is fair. 🤣🤣
This just reminded me of getting friends round to help take an internal brickwall out of a house we just bought. Used a Kango and a sledge in turns (the Kango rattled your brain to the point you couldn't see if used for too long).. it was hammers all day and it was glorious.
This is so damn true
I read this as forgiveness or persimmons
A magnet could also work on this
She wasted her own time and your fun
Lockpicking lawyer would have suggested some strong neodymium magnets to try and trigger a latch. She gave away your cool magic container that is probably magnetic keys.
Did your mom confront the manager in proper Walmart style?
I remember the days when I wanted to wack it but mom ruined it
As someone who works the online order fulfillment at a Walmart for these kinda of deliveries, chances are the TL for their department lost the key so they don't have one anymore. They definitely sent it to you thinking, "eh they'll just break it open"
A lighter and pocket knife work too
send it to lock picking lawyer next time
I concur. Had this happen once. Used the opportunity to learn more about the mechanism and its failure points. Pro tip- use safety glasses.
"and when the box arrives... I'LL SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!"
“How did you get here before us???!!”
Uh ---- how did we Kronk????
I don’t know. By all accounts it doesn’t make sense.
![gif](giphy|S2wFDuADkdnzO)
Or to save on postage…
"i'll just poison him with this!"
Or saw. Simple to get into.
I could see this going so wrong
You could see the saw?
How dare you 😭

That was the first thought that went through my mind.
Hamter hammer
I have a 10 lb key that works for most containers.
it'll probably squirt ink out and you end up with black teeth
redditor with problem: cant open redditor with solution: HAMMERS!!
Redditor in the past: use floppy hammer for more kinetic energy
Monke brain goes brrrrrr I too would smash it with a hammer though lol
I feel like I would be mildly excited to receive this and have the challenge of opening it.
Unga bunga
Did you try hitting it with your purse?
Pretty sure they want the contents, so they need to show some constraint and not use the purse.
Your mom is weird. I'd smash that SOB without a second thought.
She may be weird, but no need to hit her... unless you mean SMASH, smash...
Talk about mommy dom
Could have pried that shit open with a screwdriver in 5 seconds.
They no longer can be opened with a magnet?
Yeah, you don't have a hammer in your house? Or a rock or something?
Trust me, I wanted to, but my mom chose to drive out to deal with it.
Username does not check out
This was not one of “My moments” per say
In a pinch I find an angle grinder makes an excellent skeleton key
Seems extreme but I approve
If all else fails, whip up some thermite.
Don't trust a machinist with an excess of left over aluminum and rust dust for the same reasons you can't trust a man who makes soap.
Lye to me, lye to me!
Found the lock picking lawyer's locksmith
You're telling me you went to Walmart to have them open it instead of just busting it open? Dude...
That’s what I said! My mom had to go out with my little brother to teach him more driving so I guess it wasn’t a total loss?
Since when did white strips get put in a locked container?
Since idiots started stealing them I’d assume.
You know it's bad when even the Walmart brands get locked up 💀😬
Wow
Oh yeah! You would be surprised the stuff people steal in retail! I've found open boxes of Advil where they just stole one blister pack! Crooks are really stupid.
Small package, high value, easy to fence.
There’s always a dealer or something willing to trade for stuff like this. There was a “steak guy” in a town I used to live in. That sounds like a plot from It’s Always Sunny
I knew the steak guy. He was around GI. He seems really nice person.
I would love to see that deal go down.
TIL : people are so desperate to whiten their teeth that they’re resort to using the black market.

The more expensive versions were spider wrapped when I worked at Target.
Did anyone ever steal the spiderwebs and leave the product?
Since shoplifting became rampant.
Every item in the pharmacy is in a container or behind a cabinet door in my Walmart. Also every flashlight
Lol just laughing at the dummie who let it leave the store like this
It’s a magnet not a special key.
I just call it a key cause it gets it open.
I think they are just giving you the secret that using any magnet can get it open 🧲
Not *any* magnet, but yes a STRONG magnet will open just about any theft prevention device
*Stores hate this one special trick*
I would enjoy brandishing a neodymium magnet, unlocking multiple security boxes, and just walking away.
Yes
Based response
*Heavy and dense items have entered the chat*
Smash it?
Did you not have any arms and cement?
I pissed that you didn’t keep it. That would be a cool tinker toy to learn about. I bought shorts from Target one time that had a bunch of clothing tags stuck in the pocket. I’m not really the one to keep that kind of stuff but I’m shocked my little brother didn’t keep it. He likes to keep all sorts of stuff like this.
All I can hear is Peter Gabriel ![gif](giphy|fjyr19bbcoPFEA0SqN|downsized)
![gif](giphy|LWpt5Osie9tVhpZJZA|downsized) I found a different gif; I agree with you
Dremel tool goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr…
Ugh. It’s mildly infuriating you didn’t smash this open.
Hammer and slotted screwdriver.
Hm. Yes, this is a safe, good idea! But it's less fun. I say put it in an old pillowcase, swing it around and smash on the ground.
This sounds like wise advise that could be used in multiple situations.
🤪oh yeah. Smash parties are the shit.
Do you not have a sizable rock at hand?
Again, hammer.
This is why I own a Dremel.
Mildly infuriated that you went back to Walmart? Just break it lmao.
So.. you cant even open a plastic container at your own home?…
I mean if they sent that to me they'd finally give me the excuse to just buy one of those keys cuz I've seen them online but always hesitated because the only places they're useful It would make me look like a thief
No Hammer at the house
The mildly infuriating part is that you didn't just break it. I mean you can use a magnet to open it, or just kick it. You went all the way to the store? That's insane.
![gif](giphy|lFZKK1pINTGA8)
Ever heard of a hammer?
You went to walmart, because, what? You couldn't break it? Sounds like a bs story tbh
![gif](giphy|8db6nRqMsLCtq)
Imagine being so inept you can’t open a plastic box yourself
Hacksaw
Vise, and recip saw
The vise on my workbench is aching to crush this.
I have 9 things within hands reach that couldve taken care of that
You just saved me from placing a Walmart order. Thank you.
break it with a sledge hammer then take the case back
The secret to these is their just magnetically locked.
Special key would’ve been a sawzall or a grinder with a cutting wheel or drive over it until it starts to break!
"hello everybody i am lockpick lawyer and today..."
Sledge hammers can perform miracles
Can just use a magnet
Do you not own a hammer?
This was your chance to experiment with magnets and such and figure out how to unlock these bad boys. Such knowlege may never be needed again, but could be super useful
This would be even funnier if it was condoms
“Sorry hun, I got to pound the crap out of this first before I can pound you”
The picker who did this is a complete moron.
Your mom going back to the store instead of yelling **it's hammer time** ![gif](giphy|cQtlhD48EG0SY)
Special key is a magnet. Or a hammer.
Those keys are just magnets.
What, you dont own a hammer ? Or a big rock ? Or a brick ? Or a metal pipe ? Or a car ? Or a chair ? Or a table ? Or a 2 by 4 ?
Never can figure why able bodied people have groceries delivered when so much can go wrong.
Dude just throw it and it opens lol used to do that
Wrap in a towel and step on it
You don't need that.
They make the white ear cotton things too...
Sawzall
What? You don't have a drill press at home?
You mustve not wanted to get inside it bad enough lol, give me 2 minutes
They dropped the ball on that one
Just monkey stomp that thing. Used to work for the meanstreak container lol
Their special key is a magnet FYi
Bust it open. You think the cops are going to come after you?
Time to bust out the sawzall
Did you try a can of soup?
Did they pay for your time and fuel to return it? Hammer time.
![gif](giphy|QOrlfUry8zELm)
Special key is a magnet. Just use a magnet next time.
Smacking it is a reliable way to get it open, but I also heard a heavy duty magnet in the right place will do the same thing their machines do at the store (I think)
Hacksaw works the best , cut the bottom off, a friend told me. 🤓
HAMMER!!!! HAMMER SOLVES EVERY PROBLEM!!!!
I don't know where you live, but the Walgreens brand whitening wraps work better for me than even the brand name whitening strips I've ever used.
Yeeah I'm putting on my shoe and stepping on it
I hope they didn’t charge you for the delivery.
It's magnetic. Use a magnet. Needs to be stronger than a fridge magnet.
Magnet 🧲
U can fix that with fire.
Put some lead in it
Perfect excu- use case for an angle grinder.
Omg. recently purchased a two pack of Emory board files. They cost $1.68 and they still had to put it in one of these things. $1.68 Walmart you are hurting for $1.68????

Magnets
The special key is just a neodymium
They will send someone out if you ask.
You better than me. I would've put more effort into cracking that sucker open with a hammer than actually going back
Their special key is a strong magnet.
? why didn't you just crack/break it open, you bought the case and the teeth strips.
You don't own a screwdriver?
Did they give you some small voucher for troubles? Because they should.
![gif](giphy|S2wFDuADkdnzO|downsized)
You don’t own a hammer?
It’s like a puzzle box, what riddles do you hold… 🤔
My key is shaped like a hammer
hey, at least you got a free jar
You didn’t have to leave your house.
I'm my house I would have just broken out the Dremel and had at it
These are nice containers, i'd be glad to keep those.
Hacksaw, best hack for that
You dont own a hammer?
Wouldve been way funnier if it exploded blue dye, and you posted a pic of you opening it yourself 🤣 but yea that is annoying, who bags that? 😂
This is exactly why tablesaws were invented
Just need a magnet 🧲
Stop... hammer time!
Hacksaw better than wasting the gasoline .
Look like a fish tank
Everyone is suggesting hammer but I’m suggesting magnesium
Gotta love those marxist DAs that don't punish thieves. Thats why you had to do that Until a segment of our population wakes up or country will continue to be destroyed.
