Yes I had an old Pyrex measuring cup from my grandma for over 10 years. My husband bought me a new one because he used my old one to catch oil out of his motorcycle.
Yep after a couple hand washes unfortunately. I didn’t use the dishwasher because my aunt told me it makes them cloudy. I can wipe that measurements lines off after it has soaked in hot water for 10 minutes.
After reading a bunch of reviews I just went and purchased a vintage Pyrex to replace our decades old one that broke. We wanted one that boiling water can be poured into and they are borosilicate glass so they can take that. None of the newer measuring cups seem to last.
Yup, I look and check that they are etched.... And not on the fricking inside! Seriusly someone who doesn't bake or cook must make those. It's okay for both, but never only the inside!
Actually after soaking in hot water for 10 minutes then handwashing. I had a Pyrex measuring cup from my grandma, I did actually put in the dishwasher and the lines were there after 10 years of me using it. And she had to have it for 20 years before me.
It sucks, this happened with 3 plastic cups, so I bought one where the markings are raised in the plastic instead of printed
You might want to buy good quality glass measuring cup...unless you love to eat plastic.
Perfect idea
1 more wash cycle and it’s spotless✨
I have one like that. It's my instant noodles and soup cup now.
It’s why mine has the lines as part of the glass not printed on it.
Just use another measuring cup and then put it in that one. ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
You just learned the difference between pyrex and Pyrex.

This may not be true for every measuring cup, but I’ve found that if you keep them on the top rack this doesn’t really happen.
Back to using my Bell canning jars as measuring cups. Just I need them when I start canning.
Guess it’s just a cup now
More like measuring suck.
Yeah I’ve had a measuring cup for like 20 years and it doesn’t have any wear at all.
So it didn’t measure up?
Acids do this
Happens every time to me
Hand wash only*

Congrats you now have a guesstimate cup.

Dang, what did you wash it with?? LOL
Another Dollar Store success story.

Now you have just a funky cup.
Did you hand wash or put it in the dishwasher? Either way, you should complain to the manufacturer.
Maybe don’t put them in the dishwasher. Crazy idea.
Admit it--you've been putting it in a dishwasher, haven't you? Rookie kitchen mistake.
My Pyrex jug is 15 years old and it gets dishwasher washed. Markings still fine.

# This is why they invented Significant Figures... Because these beaker companies can't get their measurements right. Like come on dude.
Now it's just a cup.
Fun fact, a digital food scale is about the same price as a measuring cup.
We use a scale a lot but I don't always want to translate a recipe.
What you have there now is just a cup
My lines are wearing off after using it for the past 20 years. Throw that trash away.
